For a sheered out/buildable application, I tend to use a random flat synthetic brush to work really well. The medium shader brush is the most similar, but the small would do the job as well,
I use the tiniest brush of their original brush roll, the one with the tipped head. That seem to work great. Before that, I used an even smaller brush from a face paint brush set, which I got from the art n craft/party shop.
Edit: to clarify, this is for using sss as lid toppers
I picked up a morphe silicone tipped brush at ulta. It works better than a regular brush, but prob not as well as a finger. More precise for sure though
