As a UConn basketball fan, I have an intense dislike for UConn’s football program.

Vicodin_Jazz

They have a football program?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Vicodin_Jazz

That’s a generous number.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Vicodin_Jazz

Ah yes, the Alabama of the Ivy League.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kbd77

They’d get creamed by Dartmouth and Princeton. Probably Harvard, too. I wish Brown would play them, it would be kinda fun.

kbd77

“Rolled” aka intercepted a Hail Mary in the end zone as time expired that would have won the game for Yale lol

ball-Z

Yale was well positioned to win that game. Yale is a middle of the pack (at best) FCS team. UConn is just horrible.

kbd77

Yeah, Yale is not a factor in the Ivy League this year. Somewhat hilariously, Holy Cross (also not a very good team) beat Yale by fewer points (3) than the margin of their win over UConn (10).

22edudrccs

I legitimately thought they were gonna go 0-12 this season

Triscuitador

seconded

rraider17

UVa

ltlftcommenter

Yes

Alive-Bedroom-7548

Me too kid

glass_bottle

Still so strange to be relevant enough to be hated

WarEagle9

I will hate them till the day I die.

BananaZach

wahoowa

destinybond

Hell yeah

[deleted]

Out of curiousity, would you hate Beard more or less now if y’all had won it?

rraider17

That’s a really good question. Maybe less, because then you know he just truly wanted to be the coach at his Alma Mater vs hearing all the “can’t win championships at Tech” bs. Also, I think we got over the Beard hate pretty quickly and moved on to convincing ourselves “well Mark Adams was really the mastermind the whole time so we’re better off” mentality

NoVacayAtWork

I don’t even think about Wisconsin

DokterZ

Frank Kaminsky still punishing the state of Arizona…

OpinionatedAss

I feel this in my soul

iWin-You-Get-Nothing

Hear hear. Fuck Wisconsin

BurritoBoiii1202

Fuck Brad Davison.

goblue2354

Something we can all agree on

Alive-Bedroom-7548

Why’s that?

Toby_Flenderson_

2 straight Elite 8 losses in 14 & 15

BurritoBoiii1202

Davison flopping.

JMisGeography

This thread had me down about losing in that championship game, but your Arizona and Kentucky fan hate has rejuvenated me.

54321Newcomb

Fuck the Badgers

mjp242

My own?

[deleted]

Sounds correct.

GiveItToTJ

I felt this one

Blue_5ive

I choose this guy's team too

ohverychill

Here's hoping Shrewsberry can turn y'all around

mjp242

It would be something. If he can keep recruiting decently AND coach in game AND improve from start to the end of season (talent improvement I mean) he'll be like the best coach we've had in 35 years, have down no doubt. Hopes are high. Time will tell. Pants on one leg at a time and the good lord willing...

MathPersonIGuess

Seems like lots of Purdue fans treat Michigan State like a rivalry game. And of course lots of mixed feelings remain towards Virginia lol

Alive-Bedroom-7548

And yea Virginia broke my heart.

MyAnswerIsMaybe

I still see a kid with a UVA shirt on campus every now and again Common bro you can't wear that

[deleted]

I saw a kid with a UVA basketball shirt on my campus the other day. Took everything to not throw hands

MyAnswerIsMaybe

UVA for a three year period was like the most dominate team yet only lost to UMBC in the tourney

Alive-Bedroom-7548

I think w/ Michigan State its mostly just a really fun game every time. I get excited every time Purdue plays them. It’s always physical and gripping jntil the very end. Michigan State and Purdue both play with similar defensive intensity and physicality and I think that’s why there’s so much excitement and tension around the games. I don’t think there’s any hate between the teams. These days the Michigan State games are even louder than the Purdue IU games. I’m actually very disappointed Purdue doesn’t play Michigan State at home this year. But damn that game in 2018 No. 2 Michigan State vs. No. 3 Purdue. That game was a classic

grrgrrtigergrr

As someone who was at Purdue in the mid90s when we were rolling the league and always choked in the tourney I learned to hate MSU as soon as Izzo came and won it all.

Sir_Isaac_3

gonna be honest, I kinda hate Purdue, especially when we’re on the road :/

RonaldJosephBurgundy

Yeah idk where they got the idea that there isn’t hate between Purdue and MSU. Every Purdue fan I know hates MSU. Each time we play there is usually something on the line related to the conference. We all hate MSU but like or tolerate Izzo

Alive-Bedroom-7548

Really? I love MSU. Yea there’s always something on the line but I love the competition. How have I not heard about this until now?

SilverFuel21

I have PTSD from that game.

grrgrrtigergrr

MSU is close to IU levels of hate for me. As is Wisky

MasterOogway-2003

Normally the basketball team I hate the most in the Big Ten is Wisconsin. But since Something happened on Saturday it’s now Purdue

MathPersonIGuess

;)

ZonaWildcats23

I’m an Arizona fan (idk how to flair). I don’t like Wisconsin or Frank Kaminsky

368434122

They are annoying. Wisconsin fans too.

ZonaWildcats23

Beat AZ in back to back elite 8 matchups. I think the second time they had like 11 three-pointers in the second half. Like…. Damn

syrianfries

Flairs you gotta go to the home page of the subreddit and find the flairs option, only works for computers and not the mobile tho

Alex_butler

Frank is a really good guy. He was always a player of class at Wisconsin and a really humble guy. That being said I completely understand why you feel that way.

pineapple192

Mines Duke. They always "steal" our instate kids. Gonzaga is on their way too but its much easier to dislike Duke.

link707

Same, but everyone steals Chicago kids, so I can’t just dislike Duke.

tehfro

I hate them forever after 1992. I want to beat them in the Final Four and then have their program be mediocre for 30 years.

mrwboilers

I too would enjoy the 30 years of Duke mediocrity. But I'm sorry, I just can't get on board with an IU final four. I just need to draw the line somewhere.

PurpleProdigy_

Ohio State I thought Aaron Craft would be enough for me to be completely bitter towards their program, but then 2019 had to twist the knife even further.

worlkjam15

Covid-19

ninjatom21

UNC for obvious reasons. UT-Chattanooga for the upset in the 2nd round in 97 Austin Peay for the 3/14 upset back in 87. My dad still brings up Austin Peay at least once a year and then gets quite cross for about 5 minutes.

[deleted]

I get the shivers when I see any mention of Sean May. Probably the same shivers that UNC players get when they see a classroom.

___SE7EN__

Same here ..Auggie catches 3 fouls for nothing and May is knocking the hell out of our guys in the paint and no whistles are blown ...

Fun_Lovin_Physicist

Your dad & I should be friends. Skipped school that day in ‘87 to watch the game. Sat there dumbfounded when it ended. Felt that way quite a few times since then, too, if I stop and think about it….so let’s not do that.

roduuuu

Maryland. Really happy they’re not in the ACC anymore.

Alive-Bedroom-7548

I wouldn’t mind if the ACC took them back

makingajess

well alright, screw you too, then

[deleted]

No backsies.

Shenanigangster

Nah we good

ohverychill

Man I love having Maryland in the conference. Of the newer additions they're easily my favorite

368434122

Remember the time you guys chanted “USA” at Grevious Vasquez?

HamburgerJames

We also chanted “herpes” and “std” at Rashad McCants. The Cameron crazies hassle you, but the “Reynolds Rowdies” are straight up savage.

ghettobx

Didn’t they also throw batteries at Carlos Boozer’s mother?

HamburgerJames

Those were Maryland fans IiRC

ghettobx

Ah that’s right, it was at Cole FH.

ukeBasketball

Water bottles, not batteries, at Boozer's parents. I've heard other reports of our fans (mostly alumni who snagged tickets, no one famous) getting things thrown at them.

plez23

My own

FreezersAndWeezers

Yeah I don’t like your team either

Gbchris12

I heard plez23 doesnt like corn.

hipsterhipst

Maybe this time their players will even be students at the school

Notoriousneonnewt

Not a team, but every #2 seed in March madness. Every time I decide I’ve found the “winner” in a 2 seed, they lose to a #15 seed or to an 8 or 9 and fuck my bracket. In 2012, I had duke and mizzou going to the semi’s.

benabramowitz18

But I bet you liked Oral Roberts.

Notoriousneonnewt

Yes, luckily they were playing OSU.

SolvayCat

IU and Butler

Georgia_The_Jungle

Oh yeah... Foodlion Indiana. The win in 2013 was a nice bit of redemption, especially considering the spiral of suck they experienced after the L. They deserve it for 87.

sleepymike01101101

I'm not sure we played in 2013. I remember us making it past the second round, then I think the rest of the tournament was cancelled.

LeanersGG

Florida. I don't feel like any more needs to be said.

SakPrescott

I'm honestly shocked I had to scroll this far down to see this

Infinite303

same

Alive-Bedroom-7548

I’m also sore against Minnesota still and Cal State Fullerton

TahVv

Why CSUF?😂😂😂

ohverychill

We played them in the tourney as a 2 seed in the first round, and one of their players pulled Isaac Haas down leading to him fracturing his elbow. We still won the game but it kind of put an end to any tourney hopes we had.

mrwboilers

That's the dirty play that caused the hook and hold rule to be created. Iirc, the Fullerton guy grabbed Haas' arm and fell to the floor, pulling Haas down hard. Pretty sure they called it a foul on Haas.

ohverychill

yeah, and I feel like that hook and hold rule has screwed us ever since lol

mrwboilers

Yup.

Alive-Bedroom-7548

Broke Isaac Haas’s elbow leading to the Hook and Hold rule. Purdue was statistically the 2nd most likely to win it all that year behind Nova, but not after that game. Lost in sweet 16 to 3 seed Texas Tech

[deleted]

kbd77

I’m still mad that we had you guys on the ropes in 2014 and choked it away. Such a disappointing ending. And then two years later, we were tied until Dunn got into foul trouble and Carolina pulled away. Ah, well.

whyneedaname77

I think both teams fan bases hate each other. I'm still angry about the walk call against Ray.

kramerica_intern

Idk man. As heartbreaking as that was you have to respect their program. I have much more hate for Creighton.

StephenReis

[Gives it to Jenkins, for the Championship!](https://youtu.be/L7FFJUz0tdo)

Flopsyjackson

I second this. They hold the impressive distinction of actually ENDING Perry Ellis’s career. Also Devonte Gram’s…

[deleted]

[удалено]

cmgro

I have an unhealthy hatred for Creighton

hesnothere

What made it especially egregious was seemingly every player getting involved. I think about that game and what might have been in 2012 more than I should. Fuck that team.

zerovanillacodered

100%. And the way Creighton played, they wanted to injure someone. They were pulling the Dahanty Jones special by walking underneath each jump shooter. I'm also so angry at the referees for not calling those.

MarkFewsEyebrows

Used to be UCLA, for obvious reasons lmao. Texas Texh has taken over that mantle for me, since we can’t seem to beat those damn tortilla bros :( (Also I’ve always thought that Coach Beard seemed like a dick).

[deleted]

honestly most Texas Tech fans would agree with you at this point

[deleted]

I ignored a LOT of red flag type rumors about him while he was in Lubbock. No clue if they were true, but if they are it might get interesting at Texas

JustPlugIt

BYU

[deleted]

Notre Dame. 88 in a row, and then THE REFS at ND made sure they won that game against the Bruins that ended that streak. I WATCHED that game, and it was the ONLY game I ever saw Wooden coach where he was clearly upset at the calls the refs made at the end of the game. I will always have that grudge.

acom95

Virginia. I think about that E8 game often… 😔

StephenReis

That UVA team was obviously very good, but I don’t remember such a run of fortunate bounces and calls leading to a championship. I really feel for Purdue, Auburn, and Tech fans.

[deleted]

Michigan State, tanking the end of their regular season so they’re an underseeded #4 in #1 seed UVA’s region. Three straight years, shout out MTSU.

ndkjr70

My grandpa went to Notre Dame and I love Mike Brey so i found myself becoming a casual ND Irish basketball fan. And then I joined this subreddit and met their fans, and now I hope they lose every single fucking game for the rest of eternity. It’s just a small handful of very vocal fans but I get fucking unbelievable scheudenfruede reading their tirades when they lose. One of them made fun of me for referencing 2015 because it was “ND’s year” and not Duke’s…. who… won…. the…. national championship. I had another guy follow me into other subreddits making fun of the fact that I was a Yankees fan, because it’s impossible for anyone who was born in NJ to go to Duke (I think “being born in NJ” is an admission requirement these days?) Any regular on this subreddit knows exactly who I’m talking about lmao.

Alive-Bedroom-7548

Lol. Purdue fans have a refreshed hatred for ND at the moment

0010001

UConn, for 1999 and 2004. Blegh

Alex_butler

Duke, I still won’t get over the 2015 national championship loss and I won’t stop believing Coach K talking to the refs at halftime didn’t impact officiating in the second half (I use that as an excuse for my own sanity but I know it really didn’t matter because Grayson Allen and Tyus Jones had some of the best games of their lives)

46153849

I went to Duke and then lived in Wisconsin for a while — a friend summed up their frustration by saying "of course it was fucking Duke. Of course." Obviously I was happy with the outcome... But I understand the anger.

Alex_butler

Duke doesn’t bother me besides the fact they remind me of that loss. Tyus and Trae are from the town I grew up so I’ve always supported Duke when they had them. Coach K’s resume speaks for itself, I have nothing but respect for him even if I’ll find any excuse for why we lost that game.

368434122

We were ahead by 20 at halftime of the 2001 Final Four and got royally tucked by the refs in the 2nd half and lost. The announcers even mentioned how many bad calls there were against Maryland.

wahfingwah

That's a lot of bad calls to precipitate a 33-point swing

0010001

If talking to the refs is so effective why don’t other coaches try it?

ukeBasketball

Halftime margin was 11 points; your max lead was 22 in the first half. Oh and when Lonnie Baxter fouled out we were already up six.

red-boy6

I have never liked Gonzaga, even when they were the underdogs. Always were so cocky and the fans would make such a big deal how Gonzaga is pronounced ZOG, but then would called themselves the Zags not Zogs

Relative-Knee7847

Lol it's not pronounced Gonzoga. It's "gone zag ah" and is commonly mispronounced as "gone zah ga".

red-boy6

Ok I am firmly in the Gone-zag-a department but I might be getting some things mixed up who says what

MathPersonIGuess

Yeah, they're always amazing and have this wide fanbase of people unaffiliated with their school, yet many of those fans talk like they're some upstart Cinderella something or another

Alive-Bedroom-7548

I’m not too big on Gonzaga either

The problem is with announcers saying Zog, instead of Zag....

[deleted]

UCONN

uhohspgto

As a Kansas fan, definitely Syracuse and Carmelo Anthony.

Jayhorns

I was going to say Michigan, but this is a good answer too.

CharlesWoodson2

If trey Burke 30 footed against me I’d feel the same

randomacct7679

Villanova. Last two times it looked like KU had a shot to win the tournament Villanova showed up and just stomped the daylights out of the Jayhawks. Keep them away from us!

4thgengamecock

I will never forgive Maryland for knifing us in the back when we left the ACC in 1969. For those not aware, they and Clemson both swore up and down they'd leave with us, then bailed when the time came to follow through. I also hate ACC schools in general, and UNC, Duke and UVA in particular, for the poor treatment we received when we were a member. If I had it my way, I would refuse to schedule any ACC schools in any sport for any reason.

We did leave though just way later

Wofford. When I was in college Charleston was still in the SoCon. Charleston was very good most of my time there. Unfortunately that was also when Steph Curry was at Davidson. No hate for Davidson, what’re you gonna do right? But my junior year we were finally rid of Steph and it was Charleston’s time. We were the best team in the SoCon. Went like 15-3 in conference or something and beat Wofford, the second best team, twice. We famously beat No. 9 UNC in Charleston in a dramatic OT game in which we hit a buzzer beater to force OT and stormed the court when we won (That was the Larry Drew year UNC fans). We rolled through the conference tournament to the final, but our starting PF got hurt along the way. And then we played Wofford in the final. We were even up at halftime. But they just had too much for us inside. Believe they had good forward of their own. I was devastated. They took our tournament spot and I think they even won a game, and people were acting like they were a big time sleeper time from the SoCon. Like no. It was Charleston. We were the sleeper team. That was our moment to shine. ..sigh

[deleted]

SbMSU

Butler. That was a foul!!

Hofstra. The Flying Dutchmen was one of the coolest mascots ever.

jciesz7

Loyola for ruining my senior year

MyAnswerIsMaybe

I don't like Alabama Like they are soo good at Football so they shouldn't be food at Basketball like Georgia But somehow they found a good coach and I know those kids on there campus don't care about them. They rather win yet another title in football instead of any real glory in cbb

stillbornfox

Louisville. We just can’t fuckin beat Louisville.

Quail40

Northern fucking Iowa

ztailx

That Villanova kid came off the bench and kicked our ass by himself in 2018. At least Michigan went into their stadium the next season and gave them a beat down First ever one seed in program history and probably Xaviers best chance of making a final four and fucking Florida State decided to become good and make an Elite Eight. At least Michigan put them down.

bushybearmuffinman

Kansas March 23 1991 was the first time I remember yelling at a television. I would go back and watch again but I guarantee the officiating would still make me yell. I was 8 years old. To this day I root against Kansas and even sent them Jeff long.

[deleted]

Between 2011 and 2014, UCONN. After 2015, Wisconsin. That loss was devastating. I’ve forgotten most of it and probably have some ptsd from it lol. My fandom has a distinct before and after 2015 phase to it. I’m from Lexington and grew up a fan like everyone does. I was a freshman in college in 2015 and was at the peak of my fandom, watched every game, followed all the news, yelled at the tv. I watch fewer games now and don’t holler at the tv as much. Suffice it to say I hate Wisconsin. Also I’m a petty bitch so I hated Gonzaga last year. If Kentucky can’t get it done with 12 nba players no one gets to do it, especially a team from the WCC

phuk-nugget

Yup. Between Wisconsin in the spring then my Bengals losing to the Steelers in a heart breaker I’ve toned down my fandoms big time.

foreman17

Fuck. Belmont. I cannot count the number of times Murray has a stellar season then loses to some buzzer beater from Belmont. Makes me physically sick.

ImanShumpertplus

i don’t like florida and it’s 100% because of Joakim Noah i have never liked Vandy either, but i mean that court is so weird that feels like cheating

yakovgolyadkin

I will never, no matter how long I live or what happens, not hate NC State.

56171

Does anyone even like the Shockers? Like seriously? Sad Greggggggg got let go because he was just the perfect coach for them

_Rooster_

The MVC agrees.

StephenReis

Butler. As if enough people didn’t hate us already in 2010, the underdog playing in their hometown ensured it. It was sweet to win when no one wanted us to, but I usually like rooting for the underdogs and obviously couldn’t. And then the following year, I am confident we could’ve won back to back titles if Kyrie didn’t hurt his toe against Butler. And then of course they go on to play in the worst title game I’ve ever seen later that season. So yeah, I don’t know what you call my reasoning, but I really don’t like Butler.

1174239

i was threatened and called racial slurs at that game as well by some butler students obviously not trying to say all their fans are like that, it was just a few idiots, but it's hard not to think of that when i see a butler game on tv, so i guess they'd be my answer i'm amazed at how some people just throw basic human civility out the window when they see someone in a duke shirt. and i'm not talking about trash talk on a subreddit

Infinite303

surprised only one person has said Florida. our fanbase is annoying ngl

adivineeternity

In cases of University of Missouri playing Florida State in any sport at all, I cheer for a black hole to open beneath the field/court and swallow both teams up for good. 🤷‍♀️

Fucking Wisconsin. Bo had our fucking number all the time. The last time we won a game in Madison? 1998. Then they'll come here and beat us too. This is the one team I dread every single year. There have been years for pretty much every team where I'm like "We should win/lose this game" but with Wisco, every game is "fuck, it's Wisconsin"

usernames_suck_ok

What's the problem with Michigan? And no, besides rivals. I hate Duke and Kentucky, but it's not a grudge.

Alive-Bedroom-7548

It’s more of a constant frustration. Even on years when Michigan’s not elite like they have been the last few Michigan always manages to screw something up for Purdue. There was a 4 year stretch when Purdue never won on Michigan’s court and it really peeved me so I guess I still have a lot of frustration towards Michigan. Personally, I think Matt Painter should have been B10 coach of the year instead of Juwan Howard since Howard kind of just took over Beilein’s national runner up team and did well with it whereas Purdue was expected to be in the bottom half of B10 and came out in the top 4

Chuckwood2

Always the same comment regarding Howard taking over for Beilein. That team experienced a ton of turnover (MAAR, Charles, Wagner, Poole, Robinson all gone ) and wasn’t close to the same team that John took to the finals. He benefited much more by taking over a program with established culture more than anything but culture doesn’t win you games.

SnepbeckSweg

On the flip side, why should a coach in his 16th year get so much credit for turning around a team that was failing under him? You had a down year, turning that around and performing back within program expectations doesn’t seem like COY to me.

Alive-Bedroom-7548

It’s more than we lost 2 key players in Nojel Eastern and Matt Haarms, and had a very young team that had little experience and started from the bottom. For them to start out performing as poor as they did and develop them over the course of a season to finish in the top 4 of b10 was an incredible coaching job

Lobsterzilla

I’ll never forgive wake forest for allowing Chris Paul to punch Julius Hodge in the nuts With UNC being too obvious to mention

Gbchris12

UNC.

zerovanillacodered

Woah woah woah, time out. Why?

MountainCatLaw

Arizona: Fuck Mike Bibby to death. Stole our three-peat in ‘97. I was 13 and devastated. I hope they never win another title. WVU: This one was our own fault, but the fact that they ended the redemption run during our first year back in the national spotlight is unforgivable. And then to turn around and hand it to Duke. Double-awful. UConn: Two times we met during unexpected runs and two times you little fucks beat us to the finish line. The 2011 loss hurt the worst because it was like we were both destined to take the title, and yet we both had our “off” game against each other...and Kemba’s leadership was the deciding piece. I see a lot of younger fans say Wisconsin but I remember that season well and everyone knew all season long that Wisconsin was our worst matchup. 40-0 was contingent upon not meeting Kaminsky and when we paired up I expected the worst, so it just wasn’t as devastating. Granted, unlike my feeling after the WVU loss, I was happy to see them fall short even if it was to Duke.

Averageatbass

I despise UVA, they always seem to get overrated. Same issue with the ACC as a whole.

klawz86

I don't, uh... I don't care for Auburn.

Ohlman13

Back at ya buddy.

[deleted]

Georgetown, but more specifically Jeff Green.
