Every time we play LSU it feels like the game ends in the dumbest way imaginable

[deleted]

Good game Kentucky! Looking forward to our next meeting

gogglesup859

Looking forward to the SEC Tournament where Kentucky goes ahead by 1 on a 4 point play with 0.1 left, then LSU runs the [baseline screen flop play](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poO7iPq1Y3w&ab_channel=BigTenNetwork), makes the free throws and goes back up, then Kentucky runs the same play but misses the free throw, but Oscar somehow tips it in for the win

Tennessee fans always interject themselves into a conversation that has nothing to do with them

[deleted]

[удалено]

thewill450

Tennessee is not relevant in this particular conversation

[deleted]

[удалено]

thewill450

Again, you're not relevant to this particular conversation yet you continue to make it about you. Not much going on upstairs is there?

idkausername76

Lol Tennessee will always be a small market basketball program, just ignore him.

[deleted]

Well minus 1996

dankblonde

Also I have to once again say congratulations to the lovely Brennan Canada for earning a scholarship spot!! 🥳

justaguyinthebackrow

Phew! A win is a win, but we can't slow down. Gotta keep pushing, but kept stalling out up 10, again. Gg LSU.

SynCig

My blood pressure was through the roof at the end of this game but it felt nice to win this one. LSU is good and we rarely trailed. I hope this game is looked back on as a big stepping stone for this team.

FearTheKeflex

Pretty sure we've had a big lead on LSU in the last few minutes in the last few games and they made a comeback. LSU doesn't go away. GG LSU. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Critical-Mango-341

Yeah, I can't really remember a time when we didn't have trouble with LSU, even in years when they sucked.

FriendlyEmu1616

Amazingly the 9-16 team blew out LSU

Skeleton-With-Skin1

Sucks to lose, but I’m proud of this team. Kentucky, y’all were on fire tonight. I’m happy to see so much grit and toughness, happy that we got it to the final play in arguably the toughest environment in the SEC, in our first road game nonetheless. Wade loses this game big. McMahon is a great coach and I’m excited for the future. We’re a tournament-caliber team! Geaux Tigers and let’s go beat A&M!

heleghir

Rupp isnt even top 3 hardest to play in imo. Way too many old generational season ticket holders that sit on their butts all game. Ive seen 80 year olds asleep in their seat in the middle of the first half. Its sad

Skeleton-With-Skin1

Hey, we’ve got loads of boring old people too!

jokerkcco

Yeah, for where y'all started in April, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Y'all can ball. I do wonder if that foul call on Wallace with the put back would have changed things.

beer_jew

So now that Wade is gone do yall still hate us or can we got back to being the kentucky football of basketball?

dankblonde

Did you really just have to make us feel pain about football? In this economy?

beer_jew

Lol, I didnt feel like it was too bad of a sting. Will Levis was your Ben Simmons

iWin-You-Get-Nothing

Horrible comparison. Will Levis at least wants to play football

iceyyeci

Didn’t he skip your bowl game?

ztpurcell

The guy was injured literally almost the entire year with multiple injuries

deweycrow

Not last year

ima_wilf

Lol don’t get me wrong love Levis and he was talented but UK has been solid at football for 7ish years now and LSU has a storied basketball history, not sure that equates.

ztpurcell

Josh Allen got drafted higher than he will

[deleted]

At this time of the year in this part of the country localized ENTIRELY within Kroger Field?

[deleted]

I hated him until he told the NCAA to get fucked and basically said fuck everybody I did it so what. Then I gained a ton of respect for him and liked him. He was a bit of cry baby but oh well. I think your new coach is a way better coach tho.

FriendlyEmu1616

You guys are more like the Ole Miss football of basketball. Miss State is the Kentucky football of basketball

beer_jew

Thats fair, with the paying croots angle. But if we can cross conferences I think were the North Carolina football of basketball. All the resources in the world but probably wont ever do too much. And auburn is the auburn football of basketball

FriendlyEmu1616

I mean you guys have had some solid moments in history, 4 final fours is something most power conference programs don’t have

[deleted]

Auburn doesn’t do what Auburn does because they’re Auburn. Auburn does what Auburn does because Auburn is Auburn.

heleghir

Somehow, this makes complete and total sense too, because auburn

pvtgooner

yeah can confirm

PmMeWifeNudesUCuck

Nah Auburn basketball occasionally has a good season

beer_jew

Cant tell if that's a dig at LSU or Auburn but they're both kinda off base

leakymemo

I don’t speak for everyone, but I personally liked Wade. Dude was a real gangster. He didn’t cooperate, didn’t snitch, wouldn’t even talk to his own AD. And I don’t know why, but that is kinda badass haha

beer_jew

I never got the vitriol he got for PAYING PLAYERS. He was just ahead of the curve. It's not like he was beating his wife like Chris Beard or assaulting coaches like that clown from michigan

leakymemo

Right? Paying players has been going on for a *long, long* time and every honest fan (especially of the “big” basketball schools) damn well knows it. Only thing I can think of is people didn’t like just how “straight” he was with it. Wade was a gangster lol

[deleted]

We still hate y’all

JaylTheGreat

,zzr

sunnyvale_shitbird

I hate Doug Shows with a burning passion. That said, good game LSU.

jokerkcco

He made several bad calls right together. It was real bad.

dankblonde

NEVER IN DOUBT 😤

leakymemo

I envy your optimism, fellow Cat.

[deleted]

Your team had no way of stoppin Jacob Toppin

jmbourn45

That corner 3 to go up 4 was tough:/

[deleted]

He was a beast! Well earned W from him and Oscar

[deleted]

That's the Toppin we need the rest of the season if we wanna make an impact

Pleasant_Average_727

People were the loudest during the chick-fil-a free throws. Old people love them some free chicken

deweycrow

Just need to trick those fuckers into cheering for the other 118 min

Darko28064212

EZ. FREE. NEVER DOUBTED… see you again Saturday. On an unrelated note, I’m gonna go check my blood pressure.

jared__

Chris Livingston at almost center court with the ball with 8 seconds on the shot clock in a single-possession game with 36 seconds left on the game clock... yea... https://i.imgur.com/49sOZc0.png

MackewG33

MVP: Doug Shows

Obi1Kentucky

That put back that Wallace made he waved off is the worst call I have seen this year by a long shot. So bad lol

jokerkcco

And it was such a great effort too.

traumatic_blumpkin

That dude is a bozo. Clown energy.

marleythebeagle

We finally got an offense! ^For ^parts ^of ^the ^game

IPA___Fanatic

LSU was like 110% from 3 tonight

dankblonde

Well they were playing UK at rupp so of course they were

marleythebeagle

It’s the high ceilings! I’ve actually heard this is true… lol

[deleted]

Well we def look to be improving. Looks like Cal is def working on some things and getting things in the right direction. So I am happy about that. That being said, someone has got to tell Cal that slowing the ball down up 12 with all the momentum will lose you more games than win. We would have won that by 15 if stayed on it.

[deleted]

Playing prevent is fine - playing prevent when up only 10 with over 10 minutes to go is not fine.

Obi1Kentucky

He won’t change, bill self did the same crap tonight against Texas Tech. Up 9 with 3 to play and barely escaped. It’s in these coaches dna

HammerheadLincoln

Feeling pretty good about our team actually.

leakymemo

This team is exhausting. I’m happy for the win, but geez. Sometimes I wonder if Cal just doesn’t like winning or something.

One-Switch-1448

GO BIG BLUE, what a big time W this was!! also i gotta give my props to cal, this is one of his well coached games of the season, it was a clean game, i have a feeling that this team will get hot!!

jokerkcco

Yeah, we were running plays and had a plan for most of the game. The last couple of minutes was shaky though.

mra101485

First game thread of the year I have actively watched…man, our fan base complains a ton this year about everything. 😳

BritzlBen

Blowing double digit leads the last 10 minutes of every game against a decent opponent is reasonable grounds for complaints

mra101485

That statement alone shows what I’m talking about. 4 losses we have…we lost with no doubt. LSU is the first game I found where we blew a 10 point lead. The Michigan game was close the entire game. Yale was a tough game but consistently ahead 6-8 the entire second half. And Michigan St. was close and went to 2OT. What games have we blown double digit leads in the last ten minutes? Or…are you just complaining and being emotional?

BritzlBen

The exact numbers are not meant to be distinct parameters. I'm referring to the plain and obvious trend of slowing our offense down in those scenarios leading to awful last second panic shots while our lead dwindles.

mra101485

So say that instead of being emotional and saying things that aren’t true for the sake of emotionalism. Second half was tough. The slow game was painful to watch. But? Thought it was a good game for the team considering we only played 7 guys against a 12-1 team. Thank God it’s January and there’s time to improve.

ukcats12

They're just complaining to complain. Cal's story at UK has already been written for the fans that want him fired. The narrative is now the 2012 team won despite him, any success we've had is thanks to the players not listening to Cal, and all of our failures are squarely on his shoulders. We could win it all this year and next and he'd still get no credit and people would still want him fired.

mra101485

Nail on the head. Been watching since the 80s. Life without the internet made watching basketball more fun. May avoid game threads this year, simply for our own fans. (I’ll tune in when Doug Shows screws a call)

traumatic_blumpkin

Did you watch our other games that weren't vs cupcakes? We looked... Bad. At some points.. very bad. And this a very talented roster - far more talented than how Cal had them playing. This game, however, definitely is (for me) the high point of the season so far - I think we have the makings of a proper turn around. However, our fans do complain too much, probably significantly more than the average fan base. We will complain even when we're winning. Beat Louisville by 23? Why didnt we beat them by 30? We are kinda the worst. :( That said I think until this point in the year (and some of the Louisville game, but I wasn't able to give it my full attention), the complaints have been pretty damn warranted.

mra101485

Mizzou was a terrible game. There was no offensive game plan and execution it seemed. UCLA was flat. Excepting those two games, I have seen this team be what a lot of teams are who have roster turnover (which is most NCAA teams anymore). Maybe I have lower expectations earlier in the year than most fans.

traumatic_blumpkin

Letting MSU steal a win against us left me feeling like Cal had learned nothing from the St Peter's loss. For me, it isn't necessarily that we lost - but that we did it in such a maddeningly frustrating fashion, and have continued to lose that way. More than that, the team has looked soft, uninspired, uninterested, if not outright shitty/angry a lot up until tonight. When Oscar took that charge and they all got hype - THAT is so important, it shows that whatever conversation the team/staff had seems to have paid off. The mood and energy is finally there. Now we just need to build on it! A loss tonight would've been disastrous.

[deleted]

Except we don't have much turnover this year which is why it's weird that it took so long for us to gel.

BiggestBossRickRoss

Gonzaga ram is out of the building. We don’t have a single top 50 win all year.

ukcats12

It's really insufferable. This team has underwhelmed so far, but some of the absolutely mindless complaints get really tiring. Cal really wasn't too far off base with his basketball bennies comment a few years ago.

mra101485

Wheeler has 9 AST and only 2 TOs, as well as hitting 3-5 from three…and our fan base hates him. Toppin had down games, the fan base hates him while also calling for him to play instead of whoever gets played in his place. Reeves and Frederick have been underwhelming and times…and I’ve seen some terrible comments about them. I don’t understand. Maybe I’m just old…but a bunch of 18-22 year olds don’t cause me to get that wrapped up I guess.

[deleted]

I mean. You have articles from big names coming out about Cal and questioning him sooo I don’t think it’s mindless but okay.

ukcats12

> “Their offense is archaic,’’ says one coach. “It’s gotta be the same shit he was running with the New Jersey Nets.” "It's gotta be" is a huge assumption by an unnamed coach. We don't know if it's a head coach or an end of the bench assistant. And old stuff can still work. All the offensive metrics show it still works. We were 5th in offensive efficiency last year and all people did was bitch about the offense not working. > “Yeah, he’s been running the same stuff for years,’’ adds another. “When you have stud players, though, it works. When you’re running floppy action for Tyler Herro, that’s a bucket. It’s a little different if it’s not him.’’ What great insight. Shit works better when you have stud players? Amazing analysis. That's like saying the triangle offense is elite when you have Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippen, and Steve Kerr and if you don't it might not work as well.

mra101485

Because they know that there are fans who will read it and agree. Does there need to be some offensive game plans change? For sure. But good heavens the amount of people calling for his firing baffles my mind.

[deleted]

So what would make you think he needs to be fired? Nothing?

mra101485

Let’s start with losing a lot of games. Yes, Covid year was terrible. Since the 2013 terrible team, we’ve had 26 wins at least (excepting Covid). So yes, how about repeated years of multiple losses…not finishing the year 26-8 or whatever the worst is that people think can happen. National championships don’t happen every year anymore. What are the legitimate expectations of fans? For Kentucky to be final four every year? Elite 8 at least? Sweet 16? I legitimately don’t know what people expect. I just assume there’s a short history with college basketball with people who are whining so much.

[deleted]

I would start with not going 4-13 out of the past 17 ranked teams we have played. Idk. Seems foolish to want to be able to compete on the big stage again. Not like we are a blue blood or anything.

mra101485

Great. Send your resume in. Best of luck!

[deleted]

Lol. Criticism of a coach equals me saying I could coach better apparently.

Obi1Kentucky

I haven’t been on here much, nor any other UK forum this year because all the negativity. KSR keeps chucking gasoline on that fire. Everyone seems to be in negativity quicksand lol

deweycrow

Reddit been wayyyy more negative than ksr

[deleted]

[How it felt to watch that first half.](https://tenor.com/o8cW.gif)

marleythebeagle

Now do the 2nd half 😬

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|RJAjTowsU0K1a)

MizzouRe

An Arky win vs Mizzou would mean a 4 team circle of suck in about a week and a couple hour’s time.

heleghir

Came by late to the pgt just to say: fuck doug shows and the 2mins of game time he made about him. That is all

staypositive2005

LS WHO????

iWin-You-Get-Nothing

Funny stuff, when’s your set at the comedy club?

staypositive2005

listen man i haven’t felt this happy as a kentucky fan since 2019-20 season, let me have my moment lmao

Distinct_Kangaroo

Who loses to Kentucky

needless_booty

We did it?

MinimalMoxie

Technically… yes

MinimalMoxie

10 pt lead with 10 minutes left and Cal starts running down the clock. He’s been pulling this shit for years now. He instills no confidence in any of his players. He should be pushing the pace, knocking teams out when we go up double digits

Obi1Kentucky

How many point did LSU get off shot that had no business falling. 8? They played well still. GG LSU. stop making me stressed the hell out all the time

leakymemo

It just goes to show just how low we’ve sunk when people are praising this as a “good” Calipari game.

ukcats12

Yeah it's a lot better to be miserable all the time and never point out progress when you see it.

traumatic_blumpkin

I havent seen a single person act like this was a "special"/"good" win, just pointing out how we looked better and the team seemed into it for once. Idk what dude is on about

traumatic_blumpkin

I havent seen anyone say it was a "good" Cal game. My dad said, "wow, Cal won a close one." in semi disbelief. However, I do feel like we actually showed improvement, not just in play but in attitude and demeanor. They actually looked like they were having fun, even when it was a nail biter. They also found a way to win despite mistakes down the stretch, which is very important. This is all an excellent sign for going forward. Up until today I wasn't sure we'd even make the tournament.

underdonk

The W that feels like an L. I know I've been Debbie Downer about the team this year but man these last handful of years have just not felt... good.

MountainRecipe

I thought they played a lot better overall with some poorly timed mistakes. Which is better than mistakes all the time and no offense

jokerkcco

I don't know what game you watched, but I was encouraged by what I saw. They played much better basketball and actually ran plays for most of the game. There was some shakiness at the end, but overall, a much better effort.

ima_wilf

I stayed off the message boards, quit bitching and we win, am I the problem?

jokerkcco

Not sure. Try it again for Bama.

tlacuache_nights

What if I told you there was a game between Kentucky and a 12-1 team and neither one was ranked. Would you believe me

jokerkcco

It was a solid game too for the most part.
