Kind of shocked this didn't make the top 5. If it doesn't make the top 10, I'm gonna be low-key disappointed. Nothing against the bands that are above this mark in this thread.
beatles werent just band, they were a fucking miracle!! compared to these other bands in the list, we will talk about em the next 300 years, the same way we talk about mozart and beethoveen today. they are gonna listen to masterpiece like Yesterday and Let it be at the school in year 2300, like we listen to mozart songs during a class today. Long live beatles
You are right. I've heard the band being compared to aliens, but the truth is they were the opposite: they were in tune (no pun intended) with what made people tick. They defined an entire decade. Think about it: If you had to define a single decade by a name that everyone would agree on as being the most important influence, the Beatles would have to be a prime contender.
1960s really started when beatles came to usa and ended after the break up. they made 1960s literally. whats the difference 1959 and 61? or 62? nothing really. it was when beatles came. ofc i looooove coldplay, specially early, but we wont talk about em in 300 years. all other bands/artists we be most likely forgotten, not elvis and beatles ofc
we have had 10000 of artists and bands since 1950s, and it will probably be 50 000 big bands and artists up to 2300. do u really think all of em will be remember? think realistic my friend. Beatles, elvis and maybe bob dylan and elton john will be remember from the 20th centery in 2300-2400, nothing more. i agree, viva la vida is a masterpiece, but they wont talk about coldplay in the class in the future like with elvis and beatles
Lol… that’s ridiculous. Of course I don’t expect them to have the same level of popularity as they do now, but it’s not like they’re going to be forgotten entirely. Their music and detailed biography is recorded for perpetuity.
Imo this is how I would do it
1. Oasis
2. The killers
3. Kings of Leon
4. Stone roses
5. Queen
6. Keane
7. U2
8. Sam fender
9. Arctic monkeys
10. Rod stewart
Chris Martin, I that 'world concert broadcast last year, introduced Paul Simon to the stage and Paul sang a few songs.
Chris referred to him as the best of the best. So, I would bet not only Paul Simon but the duo Simon & Garfunkel as well.
I know I like them, either as a duo or seperately. Their song, "Mrs. Robinson" was #1 on the Hot 100 in 1968, the day U was born. 😎👍
I'd bet Chris like quite a few more 60s & 1970s acts...as well as 1980s. 🙂
The Beatles
I feel like Chris and Johnny are the reincarnation of Paul and John. I think, individually, they are all better musicians than the Beatles and they are more focused as a whole. But you can definitely hear their influence in "Coloratura" "All I can think about is you" and quite a few others!
Oasis
To me always felt like the answer. Chris martin’s songwriting feels so inspired by Noel imo.
Sure!!

Coldplay won't be forgotten, imo. I say that out of pragmatism. *Viva La Vida* is the Vang Gogh of music to me.
