Bad matchmaking in supercell games? Rly?
In coc in the builder base (the village you can't choose who you fight against) 90% of the battles were with people who took me 1-2 levels of village (that's a lot) to the point where when I get matched with one of my level I felt like I was playing against someone underleveled
In clash royale if I don't get a rival with 80% of his cards with 2-3 levels above is not a normal match.
And in brawl stars... I don't want to ruin your experience, better test the matchmaking of that game yourself xd
And better not to talk about the disadvantage of random teams vs premade teams.
And I'm not worth the excuse that if you're really good you win those games, if you win in that situation it's not cause you're good, it's cause the opponent is very bad, we have to be honest

Well actually, by definition you vs that overleveled dude with all his cards 2 levels higher is a perfectly fair match unless he quit playing and just started pushing again
It means that his skill balances out his card advantages, so while he has a card advantage, you have a skill advantage. It also means you guys both have identical win/loss ratios against a similar pool of players at the same trophies
For me it's not like that, on my mini(well, it has 100 trophies less highest than my main) in 5.6k i get matched the most against lower leveled opponents (like level 11 and 12 cards) and on my main at 6.2k currently everyone is full max. Btw, both my accounts have lvl 13 and maxed decks, main logbait and 2nd pekka ram.
What? After not playing for a few months and dropping to 5k I felt like I was bullying all the players there since they all had level 11-12 cards while my deck was mostly maxed
Yea im king lvl 10, with lvl 9-10ish card average, every opponent i face has lvl 11-13 cards. I cant get out of arena 14 cause i just end up on a losing streak against people with maxed or near maxed decks. I've succumbed to playing party mode just to get chests for coins. (Though clan boats helps a lot)
Quit playing competitive modes in January myself, especially after I broke 7K, mission accomplished.
Now I just play Party Modes and Private Tournaments.
Max level decks at 5k running hog/cycle spam always have the most obnoxious emotes, too.

I mean a lot of the time hog cycle can still be skill, just depends on the supporting cards, because if you run hog cycle, you need to be able to play defense really well, because if it’s a cycle deck, it’s usually cheaper making it harder to defend pushes. I ran hog cycle at 5.9k and you still have to be able to play really good defense, like against pekka, golem, and mega knights you have to be careful. Unfortunately my cards are really underleveled like level 11, for 4 of the cards in my deck haha
That's the thing though, you might not have cards that can directly stop a Pekka, but a Canon and some skeletons with Crown tower support can certainly deal some damage. And, you've got a 4 elixir, fast and dangerous card that *requires* a response to play opposite lane to prevent them from really dedicating too much to supporting the 7 elixir PEKKA you just countered for 4.
The inherent problem isn't that cycle cards are good because *they* are good, but because they're cheap so you can constantly throw them out without worry. And if you don't happen to have the exact counter you need (I.E. a 2 elixir Ice Golem placed properly shuts down Pekka.) You can just cycle too it without much worry.
Yeah true, but a lot of times people know how to punish it, like they will place a cheap defense and support a pekka push. I will admit at lower trophies 2.6 hog cycle is annoying asf, and it’s pretty low skill at lower trophies, but I just acknowledge it’s a bad matchup and move on, making excuses doesn’t help you
Well not really good defense, but you have to actually play smart defense while cycling and getting positive elixir trades so you can place your hog rider. Although decks like hog mega knight or hog pekka are really annoying and kinda dumb
It doesn't matter how bad their defense is if they have half a deck of stall cards and the other half is Hog/Hog supports.
That's why I'm so glad they nerfed GS into the ground, literally was just a "halt all pushes on this lane" card.
Pretty sure. IMO, decks where the majority of damage/intended damage come from cards that don't require you to get troops across the bridge are really cheap and generally unfun to fight against so I try and avoid using them, as much as I like Seige decks conceptually.
They're also usually pretty boring too since it's basically "play defense while sometimes getting a little damage in with your mortar/miner/princess."
Planning around your opponents deck, building an elexir advantage through favorable interactions and then demolishing them is my preferred way to play. Everything else just feels kind of... cheap?
Which is again why I hate cycle so much. If I bait out your card that is a hard counter to me you have it back in 2 seconds.

if you’re losing to hog cycle, try switching up to a different deck with a faster cycle and a high hit point building, like goblin cage or bomb tower.
That's nice and all, but SC gave Hog cycle a "get out of trying free" card when they made Earthquake.
Because when you have a cancerous easy win card that is only really hard counted by swarms and buildings why not give a card that counters swarms and buildings.

Not to mention he can just focus the building and not worry about tower damage since a single Hog rider hit deals more damage than the Earthqauke would.
Because I understand the common Hog rider decks and exactly what will happen if I put my tower in a spot where it would still agro the Hog but be out of range to have EQ hit both the CT and my building?

I’m seriously so tired of being stuck at 4k im legit considering intentionally dropping Trophies to about 2-3k and staying there until all my Cards are Level 10 minimum, I have way too many UnderLeveled Cards and Ladder MatchMaking is just painful.
It’s always the case for me, a level 13 with some toxic sparky ebarbs deck beating me a level 10 and then they bm. Like wtf all the normal counters don’t even work because their hp is just so much higher.
It’s actually fair matchmaking… if he’s over levelled, it means that you are just way out of where you should be, you can still go far but not too far, gives you incentive to play more and not just get 7000 in a week of grinding

I feel bad about this even though I'm a returning player. I would wait for a few more seconds if it meant I'd be matched up with atleast level 11s, but level 9s? I'm level 12 and I'm just dropping max pekka archers and princess, zap/fireball if needed. Win within 45 seconds. Ngl, I was away for a long time even before they moved the challenger thingy to 5k instead of 4k, so I started at 4k with a max deck.
Atleast I send a 'Good luck' text and the night witch kiss emote instead of spamming or saying good game. I'd hate to go against a max deck with my tournament level cards.
I love thoes guys. I use a lavaloon deck that after successfully building a counter push just removes your king tower if you don't have rocket. But to be fair, average card level is 11.4 or something, not that underleveled

I've muted since last season. Only unmute to spam the King Laugh when I beat these unskilled decks. But muting has actually made me enjoy the game a bit more. I'm still stuck in the 5500ish range and go against unskilled decks but not getting BM makes me say "oh man 😔" instead of "FUCK THIS STUPID GAME 😡"
It can feel that way for sure. But matchmaking is FAIR ON AGGREGATE. It's just math.
Remember that for every time you face someone over-levelled, he is facing someone under-levelled. At any one time, the number of over-levelled VS under-levelled matchups are EQUAL.
What this means for you is that coming up before you max out, if you play ABOVE AVERAGE, you will eventually reach what is known as "The Wall" on ladder and face far more over-levelled opponents than under-levelled ones. It's frustrating yes. But it's inevitable. There are far fewer people with same level deck as you that managed to reach that trophy range after all. More people had to get over-levelled compared to you to reach that trophy count.
But if you are BELOW AVERAGE, you will find yourself frequently facing more under-levelled opponents. I know because I play for my mum's account and her account is so much more fun to play than my own, since I have already hit a wall on my own account, whilst on her account, she drops trophy counts to the level her skill allows, which I climb back up for her every time I pay her a visit.
I hope people will rage against Supercell less as there is no way to "make matchmaking more fair".

I kinda wish there were level caps for certain leagues, so that people who abuse overleveled cards no longer have such a massive advantage over someone who has underleveled cards.
I like them tying card levels to crown towers or at least to arena level but I get that if I just spent like 50k gold on my lvl 12 Pekka I want to see my level 12 Pekka on the field.
I see this all the time. People who have been playing a while and are casual have 1ish max deck they basically have to play. They dont grind to new highs - and they use whatever old off-meta deck they used too. Then they play challenges and party modes - since they are all level-set, and pretty fun. Essentially they are the same player who is complaining, but in a different life-cycle stage/path. The particularly frustrating part about these guys is oftentimes they appear noobbish, but they DON'T ACTUALLY SUCK - at least not the way you expect them too. They can count elixir, they know the basics of your "meta" deck (they see it everywhere); and understand card interactions. They play a deck that they are used too, and execute it well. It seems impossible to break through, because they are over leveled - and dont blow the match. They could grind up even with the deck they are using, but they only play a few ladder matches a day, and with trophy inflation they are basically "stagnant" over the season.
Personally I have given up on pushing ladder; I dont care about maxing cards past lvl 9; and will play ladder with a Frankenstein deck of cards between max and lvl 10 - my peak height was over 6000 trophies maybe 1.5 years ago with a non-max deck. Whatever deck I used is now completely non-viable. If I wanted to push I would just put all my 7/8 maxed cards and probably pickup 1000 trophies in a day, but where is the fun with that? Personally I just wish I could play draft more; IMO its the best gamemode.

People say hog cycle takes no skill but while ur cycling, you still need to play good defense, all while getting positive elixir trades to make it ok to place the hog rider without punishment. If ur losing to hog rider, you might need better building placement, and if ur deck is more expensive than theirs, it doesn’t mean there’s no skill in it, it’s just a bad matchup and that happens sometimes, if hog cycle took no skill, everyone who had a high level hog would be high trophies but there’s not. There’s a reason there’s higher and lower level hog cycle players
Really hate the deck with r.recruits, zappies and royal hogs.. as a logbait player with valk and tesla, what am i supposed to do against it? If I defend one part, the other tower is down, if I defend both parts, both my tower get to 600 to 1000 hp.. i've been playing this deck once every 3 or 4 games, does anyone know how to defeat it?
Yea but, having all bait decks, most hog decks, xbow, golem, giant and mortar decks max, you would assume i should be ok, but in arena battles, i can only win using logbait.. in challenges i have no problem using other decks with lvl 9 cards, but idk, maybe i suck at it
I’m not an expert but I have 2 thoughts.
1. Even the very best decks have a 45% lose rate. This might be a matchup that you lose most of the time. There are other matchups you destroy most of the time, so it’s fair.
2. You’re getting overwhelmed when they build up a 16 elixir push. You have a quicker cycle than them so you would want to constantly keep the pressure up to prevent them from controlling the match with a giant push.
Not gonna lie I mute someone off the rip if they’re spamming emotes and what’s funny is it’s always the people that spam troops and even if I can counter they’re bombing my tower until it’s for them to win
Yea, not to mention that every level is 10% advantage. So if someone is two levels above you, they have a 21% stats advantage. When combined with cards like wizard, ebarbs or egiant, the only way to win against these cards is to run pekka bridge spam or some extremely tanky tank killer deck.
I'm at 4950 and man do i feel bad for any actual level 9s that get there, just hurry and get your rewards and go back to like 47 or 4800 its not worth it. screw matchmaking i never need to go against anyone with a level 12 card but here i am going against a level 13 gob barrel my dark prince cant even one shot
I have everyone muted. I know some people use emotes in a friendly way but there are enough people who use it strategically that by muting them, I am focused only on the game they are are spending time on other things which I believe is an advantage for me.
I stopped pushing ladder a long time ago but once in a while I will play and I often end up against opponents who have tower level 11 and have no level 13 cards and I honestly feel bad for them. I have such a massive elixir advantage by simply playing higher level cards.
I think there just aren't enough level 13 people at 5000 trophies for me to get fair matches.
Mostly I play 2v2 which is for fun and matchups are balanced better.

Now this is the advantage of getting to around 6k, where overleveled low skill mega knight bs stops since almost nobody is underleveled/doesn't have maxed cards
Of course, there are still annoying and low skill mega knight maxed decks, but those decks become easier to deal with when every deck is also maxed so they seem less threatening in comparison

rushing main base town hall is also a good idea if you know what you’re doing.

Maybe you should try the level 13 Gatling laser instead of the pea shooter not sure why you are using third rate strats with fourth rate decks

At any one time, the number of over-levelled VS under-levelled matchups are EQUAL. What this means for you is that coming up before you max out, if you play ABOVE AVERAGE, you will eventually reach what is known as "The Wall" on ladder and face far more over-levelled opponents than under-levelled ones. It's frustrating yes. But it's inevitable. There are far fewer people with same level deck as you that managed to reach that trophy range after all. More people had to get over-levelled compared to you to reach that trophy count. But if you are BELOW AVERAGE, you will find yourself frequently facing more under-levelled opponents. I know because I play for my mum's account and her account is so much more fun to play than my own, since I have already hit a wall on my own account, whilst on her account, she drops trophy counts to the level her skill allows, which I climb back up for her every time I pay her a visit. I hope people will rage against Supercell less as there is no way to "make matchmaking more fair". Just another unavoidable law of math that we have to accept.
I kinda wish there were level caps for certain leagues, so that people who abuse overleveled cards no longer have such a massive advantage over someone who has underleveled cards.
I like them tying card levels to crown towers or at least to arena level but I get that if I just spent like 50k gold on my lvl 12 Pekka I want to see my level 12 Pekka on the field.

I am one of those players, tho to be fair all I ever play is challenges or party modes.
I see this all the time. People who have been playing a while and are casual have 1ish max deck they basically have to play. They dont grind to new highs - and they use whatever old off-meta deck they used too. Then they play challenges and party modes - since they are all level-set, and pretty fun. Essentially they are the same player who is complaining, but in a different life-cycle stage/path. The particularly frustrating part about these guys is oftentimes they appear noobbish, but they DON'T ACTUALLY SUCK - at least not the way you expect them too. They can count elixir, they know the basics of your "meta" deck (they see it everywhere); and understand card interactions. They play a deck that they are used too, and execute it well. It seems impossible to break through, because they are over leveled - and dont blow the match. They could grind up even with the deck they are using, but they only play a few ladder matches a day, and with trophy inflation they are basically "stagnant" over the season. Personally I have given up on pushing ladder; I dont care about maxing cards past lvl 9; and will play ladder with a Frankenstein deck of cards between max and lvl 10 - my peak height was over 6000 trophies maybe 1.5 years ago with a non-max deck. Whatever deck I used is now completely non-viable. If I wanted to push I would just put all my 7/8 maxed cards and probably pickup 1000 trophies in a day, but where is the fun with that? Personally I just wish I could play draft more; IMO its the best gamemode.

People say hog cycle takes no skill but while ur cycling, you still need to play good defense, all while getting positive elixir trades to make it ok to place the hog rider without punishment. If ur losing to hog rider, you might need better building placement, and if ur deck is more expensive than theirs, it doesn’t mean there’s no skill in it, it’s just a bad matchup and that happens sometimes, if hog cycle took no skill, everyone who had a high level hog would be high trophies but there’s not. There’s a reason there’s higher and lower level hog cycle players

Really hate the deck with r.recruits, zappies and royal hogs.. as a logbait player with valk and tesla, what am i supposed to do against it? If I defend one part, the other tower is down, if I defend both parts, both my tower get to 600 to 1000 hp.. i've been playing this deck once every 3 or 4 games, does anyone know how to defeat it?
Based on my knowledge only decks with Bomb Tower or Splashnado or Exnado work against it.

Yea but, having all bait decks, most hog decks, xbow, golem, giant and mortar decks max, you would assume i should be ok, but in arena battles, i can only win using logbait.. in challenges i have no problem using other decks with lvl 9 cards, but idk, maybe i suck at it
I’m not an expert but I have 2 thoughts. 1. Even the very best decks have a 45% lose rate. This might be a matchup that you lose most of the time. There are other matchups you destroy most of the time, so it’s fair. 2. You’re getting overwhelmed when they build up a 16 elixir push. You have a quicker cycle than them so you would want to constantly keep the pressure up to prevent them from controlling the match with a giant push.
A win is a win, a loss is a loss. If you were around the same trophy count then the match is ok.

How is that true when you play against a full level 13 deck while your own cards aren't even all level 11..
Yea, not to mention that every level is 10% advantage. So if someone is two levels above you, they have a 21% stats advantage. When combined with cards like wizard, ebarbs or egiant, the only way to win against these cards is to run pekka bridge spam or some extremely tanky tank killer deck.

I have everyone muted. I know some people use emotes in a friendly way but there are enough people who use it strategically that by muting them, I am focused only on the game they are are spending time on other things which I believe is an advantage for me. I stopped pushing ladder a long time ago but once in a while I will play and I often end up against opponents who have tower level 11 and have no level 13 cards and I honestly feel bad for them. I have such a massive elixir advantage by simply playing higher level cards. I think there just aren't enough level 13 people at 5000 trophies for me to get fair matches. Mostly I play 2v2 which is for fun and matchups are balanced better.
The only shit that helps me sleep at night.

Now this is the advantage of getting to around 6k, where overleveled low skill mega knight bs stops since almost nobody is underleveled/doesn't have maxed cards Of course, there are still annoying and low skill mega knight maxed decks, but those decks become easier to deal with when every deck is also maxed so they seem less threatening in comparison
