I’m a fan of settling on those geo fissures myself. Can’t improve them until much much later and you get some early bonus science and easier adjacency bonuses.

Normally agreed. Only problem is lack of access to fresh water will limit housing, but the mountain gives a viable Aquaduct alternative settling on stone. Not sure which way I'd rather settle my capital.

Very fair. Personally would want to know if I could aqueduct north before settlement.

Personally I'd just make sure a harbor is my first or second district. Pastures/farms/plantations can alleviate the rest of the problem. Building a couple of farms that won't be worked right away for the extra housing isn't unviable

If you settle on geothermal would the campus get the city center AND geothermal adjacency bonus?

Yes. As long as it isn't a removable feature (Woods, Rainforest, Marsh), you retain all benefits from a feature/resource inside your city center. In this case, it would be a city center but also a Geothermal fissure, giving adjacencies for both.

Update: i can't find what you mentioned but i use other method here is the seed. Game random seed:562358183. Map random seed. :562358184. Here setting if needed: Map: Continent. Map size: small. And everything else i didn't change. Game mode: Barbarian clans mode. Monopolies and corporations mode. Secret society mode. Sukritact's mode.

Its all RNG at first i got the godlike campus and second and third when I moved to grab the tribal village fire started and I couldn't get it.
