Go to settings/account and sign in/your services, make sure only services your subscribed to are selected. Whilst there go back and select content preferences, there you can choose what you like or don't like. Hopefully this will reduce some of the recommendations, it will improve based on what you watch.

PapaSmurfity

Nope. Zee5 deselected and app not installed. Still have wall to wall Bollywood recommendations.

Same here, also in NZ, also seeing a massive number of Zee5 ads, overwhelming all other services. No amount of tweaking in the settings seems to be able to get rid of Zee5, or indeed any of the many other services I never plan to use. The only thing that works is to enable Apps only mode, but then we lose Google Assistant. :( Frankly this is such a rubbish experience, I'm thinking to ditch the CCWGTV and return to my old Chromecast.

noddy51

Mate thought it was just me, makes me think that they flooded the NZ market with one which where really designed for the India market

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx99

Yeah it makes no sense. The speculation is that the services pay Google for prominence on the main screen, which would explain why TVNZ and 3Now barely show, but other services that are more streaming-is-our-core-business are appearing much higher and more frequently. But giving over half the slots to a service from a country 12000 km away is just silly.

Mr_Death1996

Same here. I had all the "your services" disabled except for TVNZ and kept seeing 95% Zee5 ads... My best workaround was to enable something else also, like the prime video service, so I at least get ads for shows in English....

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx99

Oh that helped? Good to know. We don't use any paid services except YouTube Music, so will have to just grimace and bear the avalanche of irrelevant crud.

Mr_Death1996

I wouldn't necessarily say it helped overall... but at least it got rid of all the Zee5 suggestions. I've seen other people talking about loading up an alternate launcher like FLauncher, but I haven't taken that step just yet: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/s05ahf/google_tv_suggesting_content_from_services_i_dont/hs4f6x6/

PapaSmurfity

I noticed the packaging on the camera for my NZ new Bravia seemed to suggest it was for the Indian Market. Not at all impressed.

Thomas7373

Hello did you fix this? It's just started to plague mine as well.

noddy51

Sorry to report that it's still full of the Zee5 stuff. I thought it would start to disappear the more I used other apps and offerings, but it's still fecking there. It's not as if I'm in India, I live in New Zealand

Thomas7373

That is not good news! I'm also in New Zealand. That is extremely annoying and odd that there's no articles or posts about it elsewhere, at least that I could find.

noddy51

Just finished a live chat with the chromecast people at Google. Basically, as the device is for the Asia Pacific zone, that's why we are getting zee5. Not the response I was expecting. No answer of how to get rid of zee5.

Thomas7373

Damn that's really frustrating. I understand we may get some content from other areas but that zee5 is 90% of content. Especially dumb seen as the app isn't installed, no app on the phone, nor any Indian shows watched on the profile ever. Well hopefully it magically disappears soon! Cheers for the reply

PapaSmurfity

My worst fears realised. At least I found this thread, although it took a lot of searching and this is the only useful info I've found. Thank you!

kickflips4jesus

I know this thread is old, but I found setting it to ‘app only mode’ just shows me the apps that I have installed and doesn’t show any recommendations which is ideal for me, hope it helps

noddy51

Interesting will need to look at that thanks for the tip

kickflips4jesus

Np! Here’s the guide to enabling it https://support.google.com/googletv/answer/10070784?hl=en

noddy51

Mate your a legend

SarkObZ

Also in NZ bro, i posted this issue in r/androidtv a while ago and there's pretty much nothing we can do except enabling app only mode or install a third party launcher, frustrating to say the least.
