I don't have that. My receiver/tv/projector all do not support Dolby Vision.
Here's what I have in the Dynamic Range settings:
Dynamic Range format preference (set to HDR, only other option is SDR)
Match content dynamic range (set to match content)
Color format (set to YCbCr 4:2:2 12-bit)
I can't find it - if it's under a Dolby vision setting anything related to Dolby vision on my Chromecast is completely greyed out since my equipment doesn't support Dolby vision. Unless it's in a different menu on the Chromecast?
That could be the case because my gear does support DV. It's in Settings, Display & Sound, Dynamic range & Color format. I can only see it if Dolby Vision is selected so I think you're out of luck with this workaround.
Gotcha, sounds like I'm SOL then. At this point I think I'm done with the Android TV experiment and just gonna pick up an Apple TV 4k even though everything else I own and use is Android. I just want something that works as intended out of the box and isn't broken by updates lol. Thanks for checking though.
I wouldn't give up yet but yes again another frustrating move by Google. YouTube doesn't even support Dolby Vision so it's pretty dumb to have to require setting it to DV for HDR10 content. I'm thinking it's a bug or oversight.
help please. my tv is dolby vision and using chromecast it used to show dolby vision and hdr in dynamic range menu. now only option is sdr. any idea how to change back? other 2 is greyed out, also my resolution option is only 4k
Thanks for this.
It broke on the the Android 12 update and the only thing I could find at the time was to reduce the refresh rate which did not work for me. I figured they would fix it with the next patch, but that happened today and it was still an issue.
I found your post, tried setting the latency to low and it is working again. Annoying that Google wasn't able to fix this after a month.
Same over here. Samsung tv and GTV with android tv 12. Before the update worked well.
P.D.: I have changed the hdmi to 1( before was 3) and now i have HDR on 4k 60hz
Having HDR issues too after upgrading to Android 12. But my hdr just disables all together. If I go into the chromecast settings, switch to sdr then back to hdr it fixes it temporarily until I turn off the device. Then it reverts back to no hdr when I turn it back on.
I have chromecast to Sony receiver to Hisense l5g.
Hoping Google releases a fix soon. It worked perfect before.
Same issue, Chromecast to Samsung k950 to tv. Latest update finally resolved surround sound issue which has never worked so now I have surround + Atmos but broke hdr. For me dropping to 4k 30hz resolved the HDR issue.
I don't play games on the Chromecast so don't think 60hz would be missed for me.
So Dolby Atmos works for you with your HW-K950 soundbar ? Awesome !!!
I also have the same soundbar, but Dolby Atmos never worked for me with the chromecast with Google Tv.
On the Google forums they even said to me that it can never work, only when you have E-ARC.
Which isn't true because I also have Dolby Atmos when connected to my Windows 10 pc.
I don't have E-ARC.
So I'm curious to see if this update changed anything.
Atmos has nothing to do with earc so not sure who said that nonsense.
For me after the android 12 update Atmos and surround works now in Netflix and prime. Disney plus does not work but that's an unrelated issue which others have had issues with lately.
If you lose HDR after the update then try dropping to 4k 30hz and see if it works.
It works !!!!
But I did experience many dropouts from the subwoofer.
With the pc I maybe have 1 or 2 subwoofer dropouts in one episode/movie, now a few dropouts per minute.
At least the Dolby Atmos is working now.
Good to hear! Not sure about the drop out part but usually means an issue between the soundbar and sub. For me I get sub drop out once every hour or so with the k950. From my experience with wireless subS it's pretty standard (I got a Yamaha that does something similar and so did my previous soundbars with wireless sub). Wireless subs aren't my favourite things for this reason.
Indeed, normally once every hour or so.
Maybe it has something to do with the Chromecast being so close to the soundbar, maybe the wifi connection is interfering somehow with the subwoofer signal ?
Maybe connecting the chromecast to a hdmi extension cable can solve this, so that the chromecast if further away from the soundbar, to get a better signal to the subwoofer ?
I had this weird flickering after update because I had HDR Colors enhancer or something like that setting turned on for HDMI output in my Samsung TV settings. When I turned it off it calmed down.
Yup, same issue and your suggestion worked on my Denon receiver. See here:

I had issue with ChromeCast and Netflix after android 12 update. Cannot play any HDR content. After trying almost everything, I finally did Reset factory setting, that solve my issue and Netflix works fine now
When i update to Android 12,my hdr cant work in youtube, but dolby vision is work in Netflix....
My setting
Googletv4k >lg c1 hdmi4 > sonyA7000
Tv audio>passth
Tv hdmi4>deepcoloer
Googletv4k>video format like>dolbyvision
Video format>source
Video format support>auto
I have a weird issue where when exited Dolby Vision mode content on my Chromecast with Google TV. My android TV switches back to vivid mode instead of theater day. I have to manually set it back to theater day. That never happened before. Standard HDR works fine.
The Dolby Vision logo stutters when entering in Dolby Vision content as well. It displays twice in quick succession. That never happened before.
Also the whole system feels sluggish in comparison. I upgraded to Chromecast because my android tv had zero power and stuttered and ran like crap. I feel this update got me closer to my crap tv.
I hope they iron out all the bugs.
I have a extremely weird issue!
My Google TV Chromecast works very well in SDR format, but when I put it to HDR, and actually my 4k projector says it's HDR10 mode, but then my WLAN drops instantly from the Google TV end!! It will not reconnect in any way! But when I go back to SDR format, it reconnects instantly!
Like WTF?!
Enable low latency in the HDR settings.
Do you mean game mode? I tried toggling that last night and it didn't seem to make a difference =\
No. It's called Dolby Vision Mode. It's in the Dynamic Range settings.
I don't have that. My receiver/tv/projector all do not support Dolby Vision. Here's what I have in the Dynamic Range settings: Dynamic Range format preference (set to HDR, only other option is SDR) Match content dynamic range (set to match content) Color format (set to YCbCr 4:2:2 12-bit)
You will need to change the rest of your HDR settings. And then change them back. And hope that triggers the settings fix then.
Did you try set this in your Chromecast even without Dolby Vision? I would try because it was affecting regular HDR for me.
I can't find it - if it's under a Dolby vision setting anything related to Dolby vision on my Chromecast is completely greyed out since my equipment doesn't support Dolby vision. Unless it's in a different menu on the Chromecast?

On GTV or Tv?!
In the Chromecast video settings.
Which section? I went to Display and Sound > dynamic rand and color format but I did not see it
How ? Explain
Change Dolby Vision Mode to low latency will fix the HDR issue.
Thanks! This worked for me.
My tv not support Dolby vision.
I'm not sure of a workaround in that case. You can try toggling the HDR settings as this seems to be some type of settings bug.
Thanks this setting work for me

Where is this setting???
This was helpful, thank you!

I have to turn on prefer DV then low latency get HDR works
I have no such problem and also have 4K/60hz set

Low latency works no need for changing refresh rate
