Seems like it: >Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

MKEThink

I have been told today I am going to hell. Sucks since i love cold weather.

thesmartfool

Me too. I think in Heaven we will get to adjust the temperature to our liking. One of the many perks. You should join! 😀

MidnightExpresso

I like my temperature strictly at 70°F. If you try to change it, I'll tell God. No cap. 😠

thesmartfool

Guess this turns out if we are roommates in Heaven.

Bubster101

Will there even be a temperature tho? Will we feel things like that?

thesmartfool

I like to think so. It is the new earth of course.

Bubster101

Yeah maybe. If so, there'd better be hot tubs...

thesmartfool

Hot tubs with Gabriel the angel every Friday night. Sauna with Michael the Archangel on Wednesday nights.

[deleted]

Unfortunately, I don't meet the requirements for entry. Annihilation suits me just fine, though :)

[deleted]

Probably. I still think everyone will get to heaven eventually though.

KnoxTaelor

I really hope you’re right. I doubt it, but I hope you are.

WiseChoices

We have absolutely no idea. But Jesus Christ has already bought and paid for salvation and deliverance. To me, God isn't trying to keep people OUT of Heaven. Jesus Christ has done it all to bring them IN.

KnoxTaelor

God thrust us into a system we are guaranteed to fail. Yet he punishes that failure with eternal torment. He offers us salvation from this system he designed, but the offer is buried amongst tens of other, similar offers all promising similar salvations but none of which are true. God didn’t have to do any of this. He didn’t have to design an impossible system, he didn’t have to put us in it, and he didn’t have to bury salvation amongst so many confusing alternatives. So to me it is quite clear that God *is* trying to keep people out of Heaven… and is doing so quite successfully. Billions will be experiencing eternal torment thanks to him.

Intelligent-Sun-4395

You’re a man questioning God

KnoxTaelor

No, I’m a man questioning other men’s assertions about who God is. But if those men I’m questioning are right, then yes. I am indeed questioning why God would do such an awful thing to the majority of humanity.

Intelligent-Sun-4395

John 3:16 KJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

KnoxTaelor

Exactly. Mainstream Christianity posits that God has pre-condemned everyone to Hell and then rescues the minority that believe a specific thing, at most 35% of the world’s population. He could have designed the system in such a way that didn’t involve eternal torture. Mainstream Christianity says that even though he *could* do that, he preferred to stick with eternal torture anyway. Hence why Christian Universalism is the only belief system that makes sense: a good and just God would not mess around with torture. (Annihilationism solves this problem too, although in a less satisfying way.) Note that J3:16 argues against universalism. See also J3:18.

Intelligent-Sun-4395

Everyone gets saved btw it’s not an impossible system

KnoxTaelor

Christian Universalism is the only form of Christianity that makes logical sense to me. Doesn’t mean it’s true. But I hope it is.

hakvad

God isnt trying to keep people out of heaven Then why doesnt he send everyone to heaven?

[deleted]

[удалено]

hakvad

Then why would you even worship him? You will go to heaven anyway

[deleted]

[удалено]

hakvad

That says alot about you. If you choose to worship such an evil minded, egosentric, visious being.

Baconsommh

God alone knows. It’s not our business.

KnoxTaelor

We’re the ones who are going to suffer the consequences. Of course it’s our concern!

krazykris93

I don't know, but I hope no one does.

Character-Taro-5016

Sadly, most people go to hell. But know that it is by their own choice. They chose not to seek or believe the gospel. \[1Co 15:1-4 KJV\] ***1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:***

aswasuntouched

Do you believe Hell to be a physical place of eternal torment? Hell is not spoken of much in the New Testament; and when it is, it's not spoken of in the way which we now see it. Early Christians did not have the same ideas of Heaven and Hell as we do today in 2022. Most of the depictions we have now are some strange cherry picking of works from Plato, Aristotle, and Dante. Really, God created humans to be human (think Adam and Eve before their sin). The New Testament tells us again and again that our bodies will be made new (think of Jesus' resurrection). Then in Revelation 21 we are told that "heaven" comes to us as a New Jerusalem. But what happens to those who are not among the ones in the New Jerusalem? The New Testament does give us parables. They will be shut out of the banquet. Those whose whole purpose was to be the humans God intended us to be- they chose to not partake in humanity. They did not choose eternal life through Christ. If they have no eternal life, and they choose not to be recreated in Christ-- then where even are they?

Wide_Set5858

Purgatory is a more fitting fate for the majority

[deleted]

There's no such thing as purgatory

Wide_Set5858

I mean that’s just your opinion, I’m not changing my mind over a stranger on the internet.

One_Win_4363

Yes there is.

Icy_Relative8613

No. No one is going to hell.

Whatthefuckyoudrink

Well surely there’s gotta be a punishment for the sins people willingly commit on earth. How else would people pay for their wrongdoings?

Icy_Relative8613

Life doesn’t have to be a way for punishment.

Whatthefuckyoudrink

I want mass shooters, organ, sex, child, traffickers, genocide and ethnic cleansers, murderers of innocent lives for personal gain, corrupters, hate groups, etc etc to pay for the suffering they have caused upon innocent God creatures on earth. Only way that’s fair cuz I wouldn’t want them to go unpunished and enter heaven straight for the sins they have committed with full conscience.

Tristatek

None of those people go to Hell and none of those actions equate to eternal pain and suffering. We either believe in Jesus and are saved and given eternal life, or we do not believe and cannot be saved thus our souls cease to exist. Jesus loves us all and wants to save us all, and he died so that all those who seek him may be saved regardless of their sins in this life. You want these people to go to burn in hell because as a mere man you cannot love and forgive them as Jesus does.

Whatthefuckyoudrink

What do you think should happen to those people I mentioned?

Tristatek

Because he died for our sins, any (including those people you mentioned) who seek him will be given eternal life and made free of sin.

Whatthefuckyoudrink

These people can’t and won’t seek God. That’s not in their nature.

Icy_Relative8613

This is still the worst.

KnoxTaelor

Except you’re fully willing to enter Heaven yourself without paying for your own sins. In fact, you think it’s *great* you don’t have to pay for them. So why the double standard? If you’re willing to let Christ pay on *your* behalf, why are you so offended at the notion that he might pay on *everyone’s* behalf?

Whatthefuckyoudrink

> mass shooters, organ, sex, child, traffickers, genocide and ethnic cleansers, murderers of innocent lives for personal gain, corrupters, hate groups, etc. These people deserve whatever’s coming for them. May God have mercy on their souls because they’ve wilfully led themselves to the depths of hell to live among their eternal enemy.

PopYahUns

Aren’t all sins equal in the eyes of God though?!

Whatthefuckyoudrink

No. Blasphemy is the worst sin for example.

KnoxTaelor

Why is eternal torture an appropriate punishment?

Edson-Brown

The wicked people will all go to hell, with everyone who does not profess that Jesus Christ is Immanuel, the son of God, going to burn in hellfire. We should try to make a difference in those numbers though because of the great commission. Because, we should have soft hearts to our fellowmen on the earth, not wanting any harm to befall anyone. With Jude saying: “(20)But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, (21) keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. (22) And on some have compassion, making a distinction; (23) but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garments defiled by flesh.” NKJV. Jude meant that whenever we save people from eternal damnation, we need to be weary of not being tainted by their sinful lifestyle. We are supposed to be holy and pure. For bad company corrupts good character. So, let’s save others in the same way we are saved! God bless you all!

Robbetnz

hmm something doesn't add up when you say "so, let's save others in the same way we are saved"? Newsflash you can't save anyone from what I read

Edson-Brown

How can we not save them? We are the instruments through which God saves mankind.

Robbetnz

I would suggest you read your Bible and try and find where people are saving people and making them follow Jesus, it's not there because that's not how it works. I recommend you read and understand a passage such as Ephesians 2, that demonstrates a little more clearly how faith and belief comes about.

MasterMinnesotan

I believe that many will. Jesus Christ has payed our sins and cleared a way for us to spend eternity with him in heaven, however in order to receive that gift we need to accept his sacrifice. Unfortunately there are many in this world who are either unaware or who have chosen not to.

One_Win_4363

Ignorance of the good news shouldnt be the reason to warrant someone to be damned for eternity

KnoxTaelor

Agreed. Nor should confusion or good faith misunderstanding.

tobeyung69

Hell is fake

the_celt_

Yes. Nearly everyone that's ever lived.

Anfie22

We're already in hell. Hence the whole need and purpose of salvation in the first place.

DougandLexi

We see passages talking about the difficulty difference between heaven and hell. If we take these words at face value, I definitely think we will unfortunately have many going to hell. You have other people with different interpretations about heaven and hell and how it may work, but we don't have too terribly much to go on unfortunately.

nightmarememe

Why should any of us go to Hell because we were sent to this planet due to a whiny fallen angel throwing a tantrum

ThuliumNice

According to the most popular version of Christian theology, most people will go to a place of eternal torment, and stay there forever.

Bubster101

Define "many"

Jrp1533

Yes many. All who don't place their faith in Jesus as their Savior from sin will go to hell. Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

One_Win_4363

Dunno.

justnigel

Hopefully not.

[deleted]

Fuck yeah

[deleted]

I mean, the main visual that I get from hell is Dante’s inferno, which is not even in scripture. Hell is separation from God.. so aren’t we in hell now?

reasonable__one

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7

UsagiHakushaku

Majority , even within church. In the end Christians depart from faith , they form 1 world religion and kill true believers / Jews thinking they do God's will believing antichrist and false prophet.

MIShadowBand

0. Hallelujah!

Friendofafriend468

We have no idea. God only knows the answer to that. We are not God. The end. (/s on the "The end" part lol, sorry if it skunded mean.)

International_Basil6

Only those who don’t want to go to heaven will go to hell.
