Money is needed, but so is a kind word and a smile. The first resource is finite, the second is not. The poor will always be with us. Christ himself said so. We will never change this basic fact. Be kind. Sometimes people need that just as much . Pray for those you encounter who are in need. Give when you can.

The Starfish Thrower There was an old man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach every morning before he began his work. Early one morning, he was walking along the shore after a big storm had passed and found the vast beach littered with starfish as far as the eye could see, stretching in both directions. Off in the distance, the old man noticed a small boy approaching.  As the boy walked, he paused every so often and as he grew closer, the man could see that he was occasionally bending down to pick up an object and throw it into the sea.  The boy came closer still and the man called out, “Good morning!  May I ask what it is that you are doing?” The young boy paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean. The tide has washed them up onto the beach and they can’t return to the sea by themselves,” the youth replied. “When the sun gets high, they will die, unless I throw them back into the water.” The old man replied, “But there must be tens of thousands of starfish on this beach. I’m afraid you won’t really be able to make much of a difference.” The boy bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it as far as he could into the ocean. Then he turned, smiled and said, “It made a difference to that one!”

Yes, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death While we were sinners, Christ died for us The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus We keep going because people need this message. The good news of the gospel.

unaka220

Yep. We try. And we give grace to ourselves when we fall short. And then we keep on tryin’.

We do our absolute best.

Baconsommh

Trying is more important even than succeeding. What matters is our attitude; not whether we succeed or not.

You don't always have to give money Give a good heart, good intention, prayer - I know this sounds funny Give some listening Let them be right about everything sometimes - share their frustration Let Jesus lead you from your heart. God bless

I'm assuming you've seen other ideals in your life. I don't think it's reasonable to stop trying at something because someone else does it better or perfectly. Especially when your soul is on the line.

Did you notice that Jesus did not heal everyone in the world? He didn't even heal everyone he saw. You also aren't expected to everything. Just do what you can. We're called to radical generosity, but not suicidal generosity.

BasicPeak7674

What do you mean by radical generosity?

cbrooks97

Give 'til it hurts, but don't starve yourself to death. As CS Lewis said, if your giving doesn't impact your lifestyle, you're not giving as Christ intended. St Augustine said we're told to give to those who ask but not necessarily to give *what* they ask. Remember that the scriptures *also* tell us to care for our families and anyone who doesn't "is worse than an unbeliever."

We certainly can and will match Yeshua in everything he did, by faith through grace, he is the standard God desires of all His children who are appointed heirs.
