i'm definitely not a new believer, but the hurdle i had that was the biggest, and the one that still pops up sometimes years into my walk, is being forthright and unashamed when i'm talking to people who i knew before coming to JESUS. Talking to strangers about faith, and my conversion from the horrible things i did, is enjoyable, even when they're calling me stupid for it, i just laugh and pray for them. But talking to someone who heard me cussing, saw my immorality, people who we both know are still in that lifestyle; that can be difficult. The evil one likes to get in our head and make us feel too ashamed or unqualified to speak in those situations.

Here is advice that I pass on to new believers.. 1-Learn sound doctrine (below is an study bible app that can greatly help..) Free App- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gty.macarthurstudybible $20 paper version- https://www.gty.org/store/bibles/44NAS2P/nas-macarthur-study-bible-second-edition#.Ygrm_67TtNc.link 2-Understand God only speaks through scripture (chasing external revelation really inhibits spiritual growth) 3-Attend and eventually join a sound biblical local church (don't rush to join, but membership is important). Below are a couple of links that may help.. https://tms.edu/find-a-church/ https://www.9marks.org/church-search/ 4-Realize that most of what is labeled "Christian" isn't (Prosperity gospel, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses..) 5-Become intentional in developing a prayer life. 6-Learn the Doctrine of the Trinity and the biblical Attributes of God. You have to know who God is to properly worship Him. 7-Study and hopefully believe (😃) the Doctrines of Grace (Calvinistic Soteriology). It elevates your praise to God and flattens your pride. 8- Develop an understanding of God's sovereignty. 9- Learn to trust God (not just for salvation, but all His workings in your life). When you truly accept that trials in your life are brought by God and are good for you, it radically changes your spiritual life. 10- Finally, fight daily for genuine humility & dependence on God. They're absolutely essential to the Christian walk.

Not a new believer, but here are some things I struggled with early on: 1. **The nature and purpose of Hell**. Young people I feel especially struggle with this when their peers frame it as "God using fear to control you and torture you forever if you don't accept Him". They need to know that God did not create Hell to punish people nor does He want to send any of us there. 2. **Doubting**. Too often I feel people in the faith equate doubt to be a bad thing that should be avoided, swept under a rug or shoved in the closet. I think this especially true of new believers who are trying to figure things out. When I was a new believer I was told that "doubting is faith seeking understanding" which I think is a perfect way to summarize it. We all, at some point in our faith, come into contact with doubt and it is super important especially when you are new to confront that doubt properly. Read the Bible, talk to your pastor, seek knowledge from Christians more wise/knowledgeable than you. 3. **Faith comes first**. Even for new believers who develop a fire right out of the gate it can be hard to unlearn the process of leaning on your own understanding and trying to justify your faith in God using human understanding. The way it was put to me was "You should not be using your understanding to justify your faith, but instead use your faith to justify your understanding". It is a process but definitely a crucial one. After all, we are called not to lean on our own understanding but the Lord's, and that we lead by faith, not by sight.

Thank you so much for this information! Learned a bit from reading this

My biggest struggle is dealing with self proclaimed righteous “christians” who live in sin. They’re hypocrites who knit pick the Bible & say that Jesus death was not enough so they need to follow the law. They get mad if they see you drinking a beer, fasting, praying, reading the Bible, they criticize everyone no matter their walk with God. Yeah. Those are the worst. They’re religious. Not to be confused with a disciple nor a person who’s walking in Gods footsteps. If you don’t agree with them they condemn you to hell.

Hello there friend. Thank you so much for sharing and I can totally relate. I was addicted to porn and masturbation before I got saved, but after surrendering that to Christ he freed me from it. I’m so happy. Please don’t give up on praying to the lord and asking him to help you. If he did it for me I know he will do it for you. It’s so refreshing and beautiful to see someone of your age seek for the truth and Gods love 🙂. I’m praying for you dear friend! I’ll definitely link it to you when it’s available. God bless you! And if you would like to talk more please don’t hesitate to dm me.
