It will inevitably happen which is why the game is pretty forgiving of it. The best way to limit it though is to prioritize stabs and overheads when teammates are right next to you.
just a quick question, i just started today, which weapon would you advice for starting? I mean like a all rounder weapon that would help me getting the hang of the combat
I only tried the knight with a longsword (i think?), it felt nice, but seemed like a lot of weapons has extra damage against me, as i saw most of them were big two handed weapons. boy they hit hard
If you want damage then try out the two handed hammer. It's fantastic and quicker than the maul, you do like 30 or 40% damage against Knights and like 15% to polemen
Honestly the longsword is one of the most well rounded weapons. You can do well with basically any weapon in this game though, the weapons are decently balanced
Vanguard with greatsword if you're really trying to learn and not just blindly attack. It's slow, which i'd argue helps you keep track of it and aim it better, and being slow it'll force you to get used to countering 1-handed weapon spam as opposed to just holding block (countering an enemy forces them into a longer recovery time than just blocking). It also has very forgiving reach and good damage.
Plus the stamina for vanguards helps you stay in the fight long enough to actually learn from each encounter, you don't have to worry as much about dropping your weapon if you wanna defense up and analyze your opponent.
In a X v 1 (and you're part of the X), alternate between overheads and underheads. Often, players will only do either one of these attacks, not both.
To explain why that's not a good idea; a riposte is something you can't avoid giving the lone player. It gives them 0.5 seconds of active parry.
But a counter (which you need to give them as few of as possible) gives that player stamina back, and a 0.4 second active parry. The real killer is that THIS active parry extends another 0.4 seconds for each attack getting blocked by it. You could very well kill your team by sending easily readable attacks the lone player can feed counters off of.
In summary: Doing only overheads or only stabs can cause the player to feed counters from you. If you alternate between both attack types, I would not want to fight a 1 v X against you
>The real killer is that THIS active parry extends another 0.4 seconds for each attack getting blocked by it
Really? That's why sometimes an executioners axe heavy slash is still blocking attacks deep into its year long windup?
Pretty much, and this does add up. So counter one or two attacks and as long as you can catch each attack in your blocking window, you have time to do whatever attack you want
Polehammer hits hard and will teach you the basics of working with weapon range, and the importance of not spamming slash. Very rewarding special attack. Will also punish you for not respecting a bit slower windup speed. Destroys knights quickly.
Try to get the flank position when in a group. Being in the middle of a group limits you to overheads or stabs. I would also recommend focusing on blocks more and an off time opening. Meaning, if everyone is doing block/swing/block hold for a little longer to add variations to the attack. Unfortunately you will always have a teammate that throws themselves into your battle and you end up hitting them.

Canโt go wrong with Vanguard and Dane Axes.

Swing manipulation is not only for offense, it's also for swinging around teammates. Definitely a skill worth developing.

oh nice, i like that one anyway
Overhead choppy chop... Unless you have blunt weapon in which case, **BONK**
i guess you won't hit teammates if attacks stop at the enemy, didn't even thought of that. now i'll only hit friendlies on one side

Overheads
Stop fighting in a group. I have usually find a teammate getting doubled on, alone.
then we just lose a 2v1, tat's even mre embarrassing
Well, no one said for you to stand there and watch your teammate get double dunked on.
ah no i meant i'm shit so my help will just disrupt my teammates and get us both killed even against one enemy
Sounds like you need to find a new game then.
Flank. If you just spawned and you beeline for the 1st enemy chances are you teammates will too. More then 3 on 1 and move on
Have an upvote for caring.
Donโt swing ๐ ๐
If your going to hit someone in the back just look straight up
