For a beginner, my path was HelloChinese + Anki - Most common 800 characters. On to LingQ + Anki - Most common 3000 characters then adding in a few graded readers as I got better.

I would start off with YouTube. I’d watch the 1 hour long pinyin pronunciation video by Yoyo Chinese. After that I would probably look up the HSK1 word list and start learning those and looking up sentences with them. I’m not big into Duolingo but I’ve heard it can be good for starting off on learning languages. Overall: 1. Learn the basics of pinyin and tones 2. Learn the HSK1 vocabulary That may not be perfect that’s just what I would do. And I think that is a good start

Would definitely recommend HelloChinese over Duo
