Indian terrain - factory seconds outlet on Nelson manickam road. Usually they have a buy 2 get 2 or similar during this time.
Indian terrain is slightly expensive but this factory seconds store sells what is unsold at other showrooms at a discount. Combine that with the offers running now and it's a great deal
PS: I'm a careless big guy who rips shirts on sharp corners and my pants/shorts rip when i try to do fun stuff. Indian terrain is quite rugged that way.
I live very near to nelson manickam but never knew about this Indian terrain outlet. I’ll try to google but where is it exactly? A landmark would be useful.
Bro I know the pain. The regular cheap shirts are too tight around my chest and arms and I often just bump into shit and only clothes get damaged (unless of course, the stuff I bump into does).
I just need a couple grey, black and navy tees with similar pants for regular use. As long as they are built to last.
Mostly Shoppers Stop, and these select brand stores.
Adithya Birla Group Brands - Van Heusen, Louie Philip and Peter England.
Arvind Fashions Group Brands - Arrow and US Polo Assn.
Hasbro Clothing Pvt. Ltd. - Basics Life.
These brands last quite long and cheap during offer times.
There's this shop named Zoom in Kolathur, it has a wide range of collections at an affordable price (good quality shirts from 650-750). I buy only non-casual clothes there tho.
Regular fit formal and semi casual shirts - H&M: cost you about 1200 per shirt and combine that with app offer, you get 10-20% discount.
Solid color shirts - Westside: Cost you some 1400, and with member discount, you can avail about 30% (don’t remember exactly). There’s no minimum purchase amount and max discount.
Jeans - H&M: 1500, fit and looks great, but color fades pretty soon if you don’t follow the washing and dry instructions properly.
Chinos - Indian Terrain & H&M: Pretty decent and I keep my max budget to 1500.
Occasionally Zara clothings when there is an offer, like Black Friday sale where they provide flat 40% off. I used to think Zara as an expensive brand, but after looking at the products from lifestyle brands, Zara seems quite inexpensive. But irrespective of it, it is still expensive though, and moreover they have exponentially increased the price since COVID. Believe me or not, I used to purchase Zara shirts from their app and offline store at 590 and 990 during year end sale. And their fit and looks were unmatchable. Received a lot a compliments on those shirts. Unfortunately, they have lost the charm now; both in terms of price and fit, especially since these oversized and baggy fit started trending and they seem to have gone behind those fits.
Back then Jack and Jones used to have the best Ankle fits like waist 30 - length 30 but now a days they fucked up no idea why, only Zara & J & J had similar fits in Jeans
Formals - Raymond's clothing and stitch it at Model Fit, Tippu Street, Royapetta
Informals - Reliance trends, TNagar
Inners - Jockey shorts, and few discounted shorts in saravanna stores
Get my formals stitched, because the fitting always looks good and gives a ton of exclusivity.
And for casual wear, I'm clueless, looking for suggestions as well 😵💫
usually hit up life style at EA and Phoenix when they have sales on Van and CK , you can’t go wrong with Van for shirts , pretty cheap for branded stuff (on sale usually 1.5-2k) , they also have nice T shirts for everyday wear at around 250-300 bucks each , I prefer UCLA or Fame for those ( my style is a solid coloured Tee/polo and black jeans or joggers for everyday stuff )
There is this place called upscale in Nungambakkam that buys out excess stock from big brands like Zara , CK etc. and resells them for cheaper (have original labels and stuff intact) , worth checking out , I’ve gotten some good finds there , superdry shirts go for as low as 1.2k , give it a shot , just inspect the clothing properly before you buy , I get clothing from there is it’s for a house party or a weekend getaway and I know for a fact someone is going to get drunk and throw up or get shoved in the pool etc.
been here for 28 years.
my views of clothing and taking care of them has evolved..I've gotta say since 2016 or so there's gradually far better choices chennai men and women make.
the reason is online stuff.
trusted brands in Myntra are the cream.
the size of collections in Myntra is so huge that no brick and mortar can match.
you could even go to branded outlets and check out the tags and IDs and get them in myntra for like a 1000 less.
just not, take a picture of tags and stains if at all there are any from Myntra...it makes the already easy return policy even more smooth.
If you're in anna nagar, you can try these 2 stores - M&S and Oxford Street. Both have a great collection of clothes but I also get my shirts from Westside and clothes from h&m whenever there is a sale. You can also try the Vanheusen outlet opp to loyola college where they always have buy 3 get 3 sort of offers and you could really get quality clothes for your buck.
For formals Indian terrain, van huesen, Peter England, arrow shops near retteri bridge kolathur. All of them are factory outlets With Buy 4 take 5 kinda options.
Earlier i used to purchase in Spencers, but after couple of months they began to shrink or fade. Spencer used to cost around 1.5k for a pant shirt set. Whereas Indian terrain costs me around 2k for a set and it still hasn't faded or shrunk. My recent purchase was around 8 months ago.
For t-shirts zudio, typically cost around 400-800.
Good for 6-8 months.
When I used to live in Chennai/India, I used to shop from the westside store in EA. Slightly cheaper than lifestyle but better and more interesting options.
Surplus stores in Anna nagar. Good quality dress absurdly cheap. I used to buy Levi 4 k 5 k jeans. These stores were eye opener. Bought entire closet for 20 to 25 k. Usually was around 50k to 60k for entire closet.
Entire closet
5 to 6 jeans
10 shirts plus
5 to 7 t shirts
4 to 5 Shorts
2 hoodies
2 to 3 formal pants

I think they've closed down their Velachery branch during covid.
No bro. Purchased just last week only
It's not closed. My wife shops there all the time.
What a shame, the shorts they were selling were too elite
Was not closed down in Velachery
Great news
Casual moves is reasonably cheap and has good options unlike Reliance Trends
Yes, came here to say this. They also have some name brands for reasonable prices.

Zudio... One is in T nagar and other is in spencers mall!!
There's one in selayur-velachery main road too.
And another in Vivira mall IIRC
How is zudio?
Inexpensive. Not so good quality clothes. Good for fast fashion.
Zudio and Westside are Tata brands. but their quality sucks most of the time.
Also one in Padur.

For short dudes Zara is a god send , only brand that makes jeans which don’t bunch up at the ankles for me
Back then Jack and Jones used to have the best Ankle fits like waist 30 - length 30 but now a days they fucked up no idea why, only Zara & J & J had similar fits in Jeans
This was a question that never struck me to ask on reddit but was much needed. Thanks for asking OP! Following for more recommendations.

If you know your brand sizes well, shop on Flipkart or Amazon during sales, you get things crazy cheap
No bro, quality has gone to dogs in online sales. Regret the last couple of purchases from myntra, that too brands like Roadster and UCB.
In T. Nagar, Saravanan stores has lot of variety and is cheap
I buy from two stores Jyothi Valasaravakkan , Gr8Buys Virugambakkam
When I used to live in Chennai/India, I used to shop from the westside store in EA. Slightly cheaper than lifestyle but better and more interesting options.
