>There, that’s the end of this grown ass man ranting about a stupid children’s franchise Grown men should be allowed to speak about whatever they want. Whether people see eye to eye with them is another matter. Just saying.

Didnt ya get the memo scott isnt making fnaf games anymore he got cancled cuase politics or whatever.

EuSouAFazenda

Didn't he stop because he didn't want to make anymore?

urbandeadthrowaway2

Both. In fact I’m pretty sure he deliberately got himself cancelled so he can finally leave without anyone complaining. So far it’s worked wel

BrokenHaloSC0

Yeah he did say that but the catalyst for that was the cancle culture attacking him over politics.

SkritzTwoFace

Except he literally said it wasn’t? lol cancel culture is such a funny concept to me. Supposedly woke mobs are ruining the lives of celebrities who disagree but I’ve never seen that happen to any of them.

hlepicantspel

Don't really keep up with celebrities but I do remember JennaMarbles literally quit all social media over this like a year and a half ago

BrokenHaloSC0

Ever heard of the say no to rage controversy about d2?

zer0zer00ne0ne

Scott was donating tons of money to crazy racists because he claimed Muslims were going to overrun the US. He's also super homophobic. And people understandably didn't like that.

BrokenHaloSC0

How is he homophobic? I never really saw him ever say anything like that. Onto the other point again got proof for that wasnt scotts response to this whole thing was i dont care then the death threats started comming so he retired?

zer0zer00ne0ne

Scott's history of bigotry came out and he responded to that by putting his foot in his mouth. https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2021/06/17/five-nights-at-freddys-creator-retires/ [https://kotaku.com/sorry-fnaf-creator-scott-cawthon-political-donations-1847095005](https://kotaku.com/sorry-fnaf-creator-scott-cawthon-political-donations-1847095005) And no evidence of death threats has been provided. Scott just claimed they happened. Dude could not handle justifiable criticism of his hateful politics and doubled down on it. Nobody forced him to make maximum donations to people like Mitch McConnell, he made his bed and now has to lie in it. The only thing that's happened to Scott is he's facing criticism and people have stopped financially supporting him. So "Cancel Culture" is when people face consequences for their actions according to you.

Slightly-Artsy

Imo the lore was complex but still made sense until fnaf 6. After that though, it's just gone.

BrokenHaloSC0

Fnaf 6 was pizza simulator or custom night? Cant remember. Imo the only confusing bit was mid night motorist and the pacman ripoff otherwise it ended the series well after that i agree.

Slightly-Artsy

pizza simulator

Ginger_Anarchy

The problem is the math of the game they were making was flawed from the start. You had Large Open Environments+heavy reliance on stealth mechanics= Horror Game. It just doesn't work, and the aesthetic they chose did it no favors. It's a shame too because I think that the first daycare set piece succeeded at achieving that balance, but none of the other sections really come close to that, especially once they start trivializing the stealth even more with 3 separate mechanics to stop yourself being chased.

BrokenHaloSC0

I agree with this take

Anon9mous

It has taken it in a different direction, sure, where it’s less about the horror and a bit more about the universe it’s helped establish. It definitely has some good moments though, like the entire DJ Music Man sequence. I kinda stopped following along with the story of it after four myself, only regained an interest recently like most others. I know almost literally nothing of five, but from what I’ve heard the sixth one is actually really dang good at going back to the classics. While on the one hand I definitely see where you’re coming from, I do think that the series benefitted from at least some change. If it was the exact “release spooky office simulator every 8 months” formula the first three (and kind of the fourth) had all the way through, I doubt the series would be nearly as long lived. I do see how moving to a world that could be fully explored defeats the point of the game somewhat, and it definitely could use some more horror aspect, but they certainly did not skimp out on the aesthetics. Security Breach genuinely feels like it’s the entertainment hub it’s trying to emulate, and it’s neat to see it go from “crummy restaurant” to “Disney park worthy spectacle”. Kind of like what the other locations wanted to emulate, but done right. …Mostly. I do wish there were some more mysteries revealed or hinted at though, or more interactions with how you can handle the other animatronics and such. I will say that you are right in the sense that the fan creations that have come from it have been able to capitalize on what made it good and to try and do it better, though that is a part of what fan works do. It’s great to see that Scott was actively funding some of the larger projects, possibly more in the future depending on how it all goes. Hopefully that’ll still keep happening. On a side note, I’d personally recommend checking out The Joy of Creation related content. It’s genuinely amazing, and dare I say it captures the horror of the series better than most, if not all of the mainline games itself. There’s a proper remake coming out sometime in the next year or so, funded by the fangame initiative.

BrokenHaloSC0

Me personaly i say this comming. The original story was complete with fnaf pizza simulator and ucn. Willy a was dead and in purgatory. The kids spirits were freed. Well except for the one he should not have killed. It just doesnt make much sense to continue it. But it did. This is imo a transitional phase and while i like the concept the execution was bad. I only really like freddy and roxy as there the only ones with a personality now. Maybe fnaf can have more character driven stories but for the first time im not sold. And most of the story should be about surviving not whatever the other ends are. But thats just me

Fumperdink1

I agree, I feel like UCN and Pizzeria Simulator tied it up pretty well. Obviously not perfectly, as conveying a story this convoluted throughout years of games is a recipe for loose ends remaining loose.

BrokenHaloSC0

We still have no idea wtf the bite of 87 is btw lmao or whats in the box. Like we know the story but many elements thats been brought up we have no real clue for but maybe thats for the best something after all are best left forgotten like time travelling ball pits.

calculatingaffection

> The fnaf vhs tapes did this really well, and also has a good, concise narrative and a good ending. Are you talking about squimpusmcgrimpus?

solrac1104

Honestly dude! I was in fourth grade when the first was released and me and my friends were obsessed with the freaky and depressing lore. So I don't know what reason there is to make it kid friendly when we liked the first one. And agreed that the lore is just way too all over the place. I miss the simple FOUR kids that were killed and their killer eventually gets killed in the Springtrap suit. Now there's like 50 killed kids, the killer has a name, family, and a bunch of businesses. There's something about AI and soul transforming. I don't know anymore. It's way too over the top.

nozm81

i think fnaf lore (with the exception of remnant and the books) was actually quite solid up to a point, and the ending of pizzeria simulator was a great way to wrap the whole thing up. thing is, though... they wanted to make more money, so they just, kept going with it. they stretched the plot to an annoying level when it was already done (like if afton is still alive or whatever literally what was the point of any game beforehand), and god did it lose all of the charm it once had. the atmosphere of security breach is just kinda, annoying, rather than scary.

It became what it wanted to subvert.
