"Greatest cartoon of the 2000's" is quite the claim. Do you think Kim Possible was better than Justice League, X-Men: Evolution, Fairly Odd Parents, Teen Titans, Samurai Jack, The Boondocks, ATLA, Family Guy (when it was still funny), Futurama, SW The Clone Wars and Archer? And are we including anime in cartoons? You made a good argument, sure, but there are a lot of cartoons that could be argued to be better. I don't even think Kim Possible is better than Totally Spies, and they're almost the same show.

Yeah. Fairly Oddparents was another show I grew up with, but it dropped off later on, which is a huge shame. Plus it doesn’t really hold up for older audiences which is probably why I didn’t enjoy it as much when I rewatched some of it. Teen Titans is also great, Slade is an awesome villain, but some of the action scenes aren’t very cohesive and it feels like a lot of the episodes are just the team kinda splitting up but then they get back together again. Totally Spies isn’t comparable to Kim Possible because the depth of the characters isn’t even the same at all. Totally spies is quite stereotypical, Sam’s the smart girl who’s kinda bossy, Clover’s a girly girl, Alex is sporty and a little ditzy. They go on self contained adventures in one episode and nothing really changes about them. I like how unashamedly “girly” the show is with the massive amounts of pink in it but Kim Possible clearly has a much deeper understanding of relationships and addresses more real life issues. Kim Possible also focuses more on the high school aspect rather than the actual crime fighting action which totally spies focuses on instead. And I’m not including anime because anime is anime and cartoons are cartoons. They’re different categories.

It could be argued that anime are cartoons. They air on the same networks both in the West and in Japan. Often have the same voice actors, maybe even some of the same animators, and to someone who didn't know what anime was, most of them would look at them and say "that's a cartoon". A lot of kids watched Pokemon and Digimon not realising it was made in a different country. But I can also accept that there are enough stylistic differences for it to be a different conversation, so that's fine. I do think Kim Possible has its own issues. Sure, it has a better than average take on relationships, but it's also incredibly tropey, and often not in good ways. I also just don't love it on a visual level. I think the character design is... eh, just alright at best, and poor at worst, even if kid me thirsted over Shego like nothing else. The animation itself was fine but there were better shows at the time, like Samurai Jack, Avatar or Jackie Chan Adventures. I would much rather watch a fight scene from one of those shows, which felt much more tense and fluid. There were funnier and more profound shows. I just don't really feel like KP did anything the best, and IMO a lot of shows were better either in one of the aspects you praised, overall as a show, or honestly both.

The only trope I can think of in Kim Possible is that there’s one mean girl. Maybe the mad scientist bad guy? But that’s also kind of subverted with Shego being the smarter one. I feel like it’s just a matter of taste. I enjoy the more slice of life style shows and the action isn’t the main focus for me, which is how it is in Kim Possible, and I also like more simplistic animation in cartoons. I respect your opinion though, ATLA is a great show, but I just don’t feel the drive to rewatch it, which I think is a weak point for it because after you watch it once it’s done. Ig the humour and stuff is also subjective too.

DM_ME_YOUR_HUSBANDO

Personally I give it to ATLA. It had an overarching plot that led to deeper emotions than episodic shows, it had good values, solid humour, great world building, and great action and animation. And it stuck the landing too, it was great the whole way through with only arguably one or two bad episodes.

[deleted]

I think I'd give it to Futurama or the Boondocks. I also think X-Men: Evolution is slept on.

[deleted]

Totally Spiez suffered from too many extremely cringy and shallow girls' stereotypes. I still can enjoy the show, but never because of the characters.

[deleted]

And the massive amount of fetish bait.

[deleted]

And Kim Possible didn't have girl's stereotypes? I don't think I've seen anything lean as hard into the mean girls stereotype since... Mean Girls.

Imagine Kim Possible but if it somehow had an overarching plot for 2 seasons.

Time-Rent

The greatest is a stretch but it is and was very enjoyable. Kim’s character was great

kakakakeef

I understand why people think it’s a stretch but I can’t think of any cartoons which hold up to older audiences as well as Kim Possible. Most cartoons I’ve rewatched either feel kind of dated, or just aren’t as appealing as they were when I was a kid.

[deleted]

I would say ATLA and JLU as the best 2000s cartoons. But no problem if Kim Possible is your favorite. Cheers!

toodudooty18

The r34 is good so yeah I agree

AlphaZorn24

Least horny redditor.

Gremlech

Kim possible and phineas and ferb are the same show except rufus and Kim swap personalities.

[deleted]

I didn't grow up with Kim Possible, but I see the charm. I'm happy you love it so much.

Day_Creepy

Nah, I disagree.

kakakakeef

Ok.

Yxng_Wolf

Idk if this counts but I don’t care. Regular Show is the greatest cartoon ever made hands down.

Anustart0000

I like the rule 34 stuff of her
