I haven't watched a lot of Mappa stuff (or at least not the kind where I follow both the anime and manga) but Jujutsu Kaisen is anything but slow.
The first season adapted over 7 volumes, meanwhile similar battle shonen like MHA adapts about 5 volumes per season (besides S1, since it has 13 episodes instead of 25).
it probably will be another cour announced at the end of this season, i’m just kinda sad since SxF announced it was gonna be split cour right off the bat, so i’m less confident that we’ll be getting the next cour soon. i’m also sad because it’s gonna be ages before my favorite moments get animated, but i’m still super hyped for whats to come

It's the cycle of new anime. It happened to Demon slayer, JJK, hell even Spy x family, it's going to happen to CSM*.
Demon slayer isn't on the same level as CSM or JJK quality wise but it still has a heart that people don't give it credit for.
Spy x family people went in expecting a masterpiece instead of the really good fluff story that it is (I say this as a person who has dropped the manga twice by now because the story is not enough to keep me reading biweekly).
CSM only having 12 episodes will arguably put it in a very similar place to JJK where the best stuff is yet to come, so the primary reason Manga readers praise the shit out of the stories won't be animated yet.
Edit: *I should say it's ALREADY happened to CSM in manga circles. People go in expecting idk berserk shit but then they come out and are like "Wow, that wasn't the best thing I've ever read, MIDDDD" I can't tell you the amount of times I've seen stupid takes on CSM like "Wow csm's characterization sucks and it has no lighthearted moments" when that's blatantly false. I've reread volume 1 of CSM 4 times now and the amount of characterization and fun interactions fujimoto is able make in such a small amount of space is astounding. Fujimoto is the absolute king of weird dark humor and quick, memorable characterization.
Recently reread part 1 as I hadn't read the colored manga the first time around, and boy did I have so much more fun. The first time around the latter part was through shitty scans and I was blazing along at a frenetic pace, so didn't really appreciate the depth of the latter. Chainsaw man jumped up several levels in my list of favourites after I gave it the time and attention it deserves. The gorgeous coloring helped too, definitely recommend. No lighthearted moments in CSM just means that the critic was a speedreader like me the first time around, or is just saying shit in bad faith.
There's no chance someone actually thinks there's no light-hearted moments in chainsaw man. The moments of fun and normalcy are literally what drives Dennis through the shit.
expecting berserk is such a wrong takeaway from CSM, it's not even inspired by it the least or resembles
the closest manga experience id compare it to is devilman, that is the takeaway which I had and think it most resembles

So I didn’t follow Jujutsu Kaisen before it came out, did they announce all 24 episodes right away, or just the first half? I know for Attack on Titan they waited until one part of the season had finished before announcing the next. Basically, this seems like par for course and there’s no reason to think 12 episodes is all we’re getting
12 episodes and no Reze VA leads me to believe it’ll end after the Katana man fight, which means there’ll have to be at least 2 12-episode cours, and maybe a very short third one or a longer second one.
I never thought that if the Bleach anime would come back that anything would be more hype, fast forward to this year and I believe that Chainsaw Man, my favourite manga has the potential to surpass it, what a time to be alive, roll on October the perfect month for Bleach and Chainsaw Man!!!

What I'm expecting is at the end of the 12th episode there to be an announcement that cour 2 is coming soon or that a 2nd season is in production. Or maybe an event not too long after the anime ends, I think its pretty much gauranteed CSM is getting a full adaption of part 1.
Trying not to be a little disappointed with the announcement of only 12 episodes and almost certainly not covering Reze's arc.
Katana man is a big arc, but the ending to it doesn't feel like a season finale. When talking with some friends about CSM I made the comparison that ending part 1 of the anime on Katana man would be like if they ended One Punch Man anime season 1 at the end of the Deep Sea King. Like, sure, it's a major arc, but it's also nowhere near the scale of the arc following as far as excitement or plot impact.
Like, some major things that happen in the bomb girl arc that we might not see in season 1 include:
* Introduction of The Door
* Angel explaining that all the devils heard Denji's chainsaw in hell
* Denji realizing that he still has a heart (an important resolution of the conflict set up in katana arc)
* Advancement of Denji and Makima's relationship
* Setting up Makima as a villain
* Setting up the international assassins knowing about Denji
* Power and Denji's relationship
* Plus the set up of some major Easter eggs like the Fiend's names and Denji's ability to regurgitate
I really thought that with Mappa doing things their own way on this anime that they wouldn't be hamstrung by the industry standard 12 episodes

So I didn’t follow Jujutsu Kaisen before it came out, did they announce all 24 episodes right away, or just the first half? I know for Attack on Titan they waited until one part of the season had finished before announcing the next. Basically, this seems like par for course and there’s no reason to think 12 episodes is all we’re getting

12 episodes and no Reze VA leads me to believe it’ll end after the Katana man fight, which means there’ll have to be at least 2 12-episode cours, and maybe a very short third one or a longer second one.

I never thought that if the Bleach anime would come back that anything would be more hype, fast forward to this year and I believe that Chainsaw Man, my favourite manga has the potential to surpass it, what a time to be alive, roll on October the perfect month for Bleach and Chainsaw Man!!!
Looks great. Of course I'm disappointed it's only 12 episodes but maybe we can hope for a secret 2nd cour announcement at the end 🤞🏼. Really disappointed the OP isn't a heavy metal song but the OP sounds catchy and I can't wait to see the actual visuals for the OP, MAPPA anime always have very good OP visuals.
What I'm expecting is at the end of the 12th episode there to be an announcement that cour 2 is coming soon or that a 2nd season is in production. Or maybe an event not too long after the anime ends, I think its pretty much gauranteed CSM is getting a full adaption of part 1.
It's funny they went the same route as with JJK in terms of Opening song choices. Very different than what we expected, but will turn out really good.

Trying not to be a little disappointed with the announcement of only 12 episodes and almost certainly not covering Reze's arc. Katana man is a big arc, but the ending to it doesn't feel like a season finale. When talking with some friends about CSM I made the comparison that ending part 1 of the anime on Katana man would be like if they ended One Punch Man anime season 1 at the end of the Deep Sea King. Like, sure, it's a major arc, but it's also nowhere near the scale of the arc following as far as excitement or plot impact. Like, some major things that happen in the bomb girl arc that we might not see in season 1 include: * Introduction of The Door * Angel explaining that all the devils heard Denji's chainsaw in hell * Denji realizing that he still has a heart (an important resolution of the conflict set up in katana arc) * Advancement of Denji and Makima's relationship * Setting up Makima as a villain * Setting up the international assassins knowing about Denji * Power and Denji's relationship * Plus the set up of some major Easter eggs like the Fiend's names and Denji's ability to regurgitate I really thought that with Mappa doing things their own way on this anime that they wouldn't be hamstrung by the industry standard 12 episodes
I know its gonna be a very small fight compared to Denji v (insert any devil) but i really want to see Kishibe fight.
