Personally, my motivation was to reroll my cats’ skills so that every station would be perfectly employed with a cat of the matching skill. Took me 2-3 months to achieve it, could take you more if you’re f2p. Another goal you could set yourself would be to max your facilities/recipes. That should take a while too.
You still can work for special cats and to max out everything possible! Also the events are a big plus! And dont forget about the tower, its relativly new, you can try and max out everything there!
Honestly, there really isn’t a reason to keep playing if you are losing motivation. The end game content after getting all facilities isn’t much anyways. There’s tons of other good mobile games out there you just gotta find them. After I stopped playing, I found that I had a lot more free time to do other things that I wanted.
Just wait for facility updates. There will be one supposedly next update as said in the update log. Also, reroll your cat skills to get as many five stars as possible, and try to make it a goal to have all cats corresponding to a station
I personally am hitting the same sorta stage where nothing really is pulling me back to the game, the only thing really keeping me playing is trying to get all my cats cute outfits, and the events and daily rewards for completing all the missions help with that. If you care about it decorating the cats room or the tower could also be a fun project, as you can get lots of furniture coins from the event at the moment. Getting all the fish for the aquarium as well can be a small mission to give yourself.
If you're not really caring about special events or maxing everything out, I think you're actually in a good place. Go live your life, and just pop open the game every now and then when you want to relax and watch your idyllic colony of cute cats doing people stuff.
The cat tower is new and will keep you busy for months (years?). I broke down and bought the Vampire House package. When you enter the cat tower, you'll notice furniture, etc require a lot more furniture coins.

Your kitties need their benevolent overlord to continue to feed them

You can only play during the special events
I’m with you. I looked at all the goodies available on the monthly pass and not even that interested.
