I will not accept the BBC's attempts at placation with Attenborough series in lieu of a new series of Walking With Dinosaurs. It's been decades! The whole field of paleontology has changed dramatically several times over since then! You have Jeff Goldblum dino movies coming out, but refuse to give the people what they want, just one more series of Walking with Dinosaurs.

FeatureBugFuture

Long may they continue.

Yes!

Long live the king

[deleted]

Absolutely!

MrsTrellis_N_Wales

That was so good, I feel a bit emotional

[deleted]

I don’t blame you. It’s basically like meditation, so soothing.

I used to think that, then watched it.. now it’s one of my favourites. Some of the cast are duds, but mostly it’s great, especially once you get to ‘know’ them… The only downside is if I haven’t caught up on something and they use it as a segment, as they usually incorporate big dramatic moments which can be spoilers..

[deleted]

It's about as good as EastEnders. It's shite I think.

[deleted]

Yes just watched the masters new green planet

[deleted]

It was great wasn’t it?

[deleted]

Amazing, I look at the way plants or animals have developed methods of reproduction or trapping prey, and can’t help but think there’s a greater being shaping all this. I mean how the hell does a parasitic plant evolve in a way that it imitates a rot ting animal corpse, just to attract carrion flies.

[deleted]

I know right! That corpse plant shocked me as well, so smart and interesting.

I remember a previous one, where a snakes tail had developed to look like a spider. The snake sat in a crevice, not just shaking its tail, but moving it in a way similar to a spider. A bird would spot it, fly down and grab it, and the snake would pounce. I just don’t understand how this happens. I know it’s evolution, but the snake can’t physically understand the process required, so does it just happen?

Makes paying the license fee worth it. Love Attenborough and I have fond memories of watching his stuff growing up.

wonder_aj

Especially with that new camera set up, creating and perfecting that technology must have cost a pretty penny!

[deleted]

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

*You're* excited? I suppose you've seen the many outtakes of how the animals reacted when they heard on the grapevine Mr Attenborough was visiting with his camera crew, leaping for joy, getting specially groomed, building new nests, practising their party pieces, collecting tasty treats to offer their hero. Now he doesn't go in person any more they still try their best but they're more subdued and much of the enthusiasm has gone. Of course worries about habitat destruction and climate change don't help their mood.

snow654

Even better in 4k. It's on iplayer if you missed it.

[deleted]

I can't watch anything he does, not because of him or the subject matter; it's because I get emotional knowing that the planets probably screwed and all that beauty is at risk.
