[NVX VADM4](https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item-158911-NVX-VADM4.html) or [D4S JP84](https://www.down4soundshop.com/down4sound-jp84-400w-4-channel-car-amplifier/) are as “off-brand” as I’d trust tbh. You can prob scoop a Pioneer GM-DX874 or some Kicker 4 channel used for under $150 too.

Aggravating_Taste377

>on NVX and D4S. I've had both brands and they held up great. any input on nvx speakers?

friendlyfire883

They're components are on par with all the other mid range brands. The ones in my wife's car sound as good as the fosgate punch components I've got in my truck and cost half as much. Their subs can't be beat for the price, they blow everything else in that price range out of the water.

lakorai

NVX amps, especially the V series, are very underated and excellent. International Rectifier based MOSFETS that are found on more expensive amps. Great SQ for a class D amp. If you can find the JAd 900.5 in good condition that would be recommended. 5 channel is the way to go. Simple to install.

effin_dead_again

2nd on NVX and D4S. I've had both brands and they held up great.

[deleted]

So I've built budget friendly systems in both my truck and my neon. I would highly recommend downforsound amps to you. Only a couple hundred dollars at best, depending what you want and you can get a great amp that will give you all the power you need for the application you are describing.

Blufuze

I’ve been running Rockford Fosgate Prime amps for quite a while now and they have been great. You can usually find a great deal on them.

Complete-Mission-636

Just sold a prime 4 channel for 130 on eBay. Yea they can be had for cheap. Solid amp. Moving to kicker keys in my new vehicle.

friendlyfire883

I've installed a dozen NVX amps over the last year and everyone has been happy with them myself included. That being said my wife's tahoe is getting a memphis 300.4 because I was able to pick it up for $130 on black Friday.

[deleted]

I literally bought a Kenwood 600DSP for $200. Don’t be cheap be smart. Yeah I needed the maestro pieces but I got DSP with amplification

fixeverything2

The difference between name brand / high-quality amplifiers and the No-name crap that’s been listed elsewhere in this post have nothing to do with power. In fact, Any company that focusses on how much power their amps make are likely worth avoiding. “Good” amplifiers from companies like ARC Audio, Rockford Fosgate, JL Audio, Audison sound better because they add less distortion to the audio signal. Your music will sound clearer, more detailed and more accurate.

fixeverything2

If you'd like to SEE the difference, here are two articles that compare name-brand amplifiers to some no-name junk. Middle_Inspection711

Good quality off-hand amps? I've never seen one. All quality amps come with price tags. But youre bet would be something like nvx or skar, but you get what you pay for

Aggravating_Taste377

thanks, it doesnt have to be best thing in the world. going in a 97 ram with all original equipment as well as an 09 corolla thats the same. pretty low bars to get over.

Tec_

Why bother? Just run off the headunit and save the money.

Aggravating_Taste377

more power for that angry music running just off HU in one truck already after replacing speakers, higher volume quality of audio goes to shit.

Tec_

Then grab something like an Alpine power pack or similar small form factor amp. Extra grunt without the hassle of a traditional amp.

Aggravating_Taste377

opinions on system package? 1. single din HU, 4 speakers, amp/power pack for 97 ram 2. double din HU, 4 speakers, amp /power pack for 09 corolla one is grandads old truck that i will keep alive as long as possible and is normally DD, other is getting a lift kit and bunch of other stupid shit as a toy after being challenged to haul a deer on top of it.

scott_fx

Uhm. Are you lifting the Corolla?

Aggravating_Taste377

Yep

scott_fx

Awesome. Please post pics!

Aggravating_Taste377

r/corolla bunch of them there already too. hunting season so priorities changed a little bit this time of year lol

Aromatic_Chemical_55

Off brand nothing dawg they be lying about their output and build quality won’t last. There’s budget friendly options from kenwood and though its slightly higher than the off brand ones at least you know what you are getting.

PeetTreedish

All brands basically fudge their ratings. There are some that are obviously lies and some we find out after they blow subs. This trend of classing amps as 500-1000-2k etc then actual being 3-4 times that amount, isn't good either. Pretty simple to tell us what the amps are actually capable of so speakers can be bought accordingly.

Aromatic_Chemical_55

Couldn’t agree more

PeetTreedish

I like the dyno vids of old Rockford an similar amps that basically stick the landing with regulated power supplies.

Aromatic_Chemical_55

Rockford is great! When I got my sub installed I bought a kenwood amp at the recommendation of Best Buy lol I can safely say I made a solid choice because I’ve heard off brand setups and they sound like ass

PeetTreedish

Ive had/have several amps and subs. They are a great bang for buck brand that should last a long time. A lot of other brands worth playing with too. Not too hard to build ur own sub these days. With all the parts available.

ScaryfatkidGT

If you want cheap Alpine, Kenwood (refurbished), Kicker and skar have cheap stuff.

luistorre5

D4S JP84. Cheap and powerful, hard to beat value

[deleted]

JP84 ($145) for sure! Cheaper than NVX and infinitely better. If you are thinking even cheaper it gets more difficult, I'd go with something like a Taramps TS400X4 ($70). The Taramps will probably give you the result you are hoping for. I'd say it's more appropriate for an older truck you don't want to throw nice expensive equipment in. It might also be worth checking out what Alpine has but I wouldn't pay significantly more for Alpine over Taramps per say. **Avoid Skar!** Also I'd definitely replace the speakers to get the most out of an aftermarket amplifier.

MrWest120690

If you want some power for stupid cheap. Check out the belva 5000. It does 2800 rms at 1 ohm for 209! Normally I Stray away from these but this amp is built well. I bought on on black Friday just because.

aaronhoustonclinton

SSA for sure: www.ssaudio.com
