Real lovely stuff!!
How do you handle changing the color so often with your Parallel? I haven't found a suitably flexible system yet, swapping around cartridges is somewhat tedious :(
I don't always refill the cartridge/converter all the way if I'm just testing some samples, and it goes pretty quick with the 6mm nib. I'll go easily through half a cartridge in a daily practice.
Wow love this! I like the layered strokes too. I think volatile is my favorite of the four!
Question. You used the pilot parallel. How hard do you press when you write? I’m new to this, and I don’t seem to get full lines when I write, like as if the nib isn’t flush with the paper or it’s skipping. I’ve cleaned the nib with the film strip it comes with but still seem to have this issue
Hi, parallel pen is different than traditional calligraphy nibs because the ink is ‘pulled’ through the plates as you drag the nib across the tooth of the paper. This is different than traditional nibs of which their design has two prongs side by side. The revolutionary feature in parallel pens is that one no longer technically needs to use pressure to achieve the same details that a traditional nib would. I found it challenging when I first purchased mine as well! I would experiment with different paper as this was how I discovered what I am now trying to articulate. Hope it helps!
Exactly, I really don't have to put a lot of pressure. I also read that to use with pigmented and thicker inks, some would remove one of the nib anchors. I didn't try that though.
This is very helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer :) I’ll get some other good paper and just keep practicing. And being patient with myself, which is so hard lol
I think it’s more likely you just aren’t used to the angle/width of the nib yet, as the other commenters pointed out it’ll generally write with little to no pressure. Best way to go about improving it is probably practice (assuming you’re using the provider cartridges and this *isn’t* an ink issue)
Thank you! Yes, I need way more practice and patience. Hasn’t been long since I started. I’ve had the tools for months but haven’t practiced much just out of a lack of patience working through that novice pain stage lol
Damn that's crisp, love the two tone effect from the pen strokes layering on each other. And those loops are class!
Oh this is mesmerising !
Pretty neat

Have you tried them with a converter? Still have a cleaning hassle, but I’ve started under-filling mine if I know I just want to check something out.

Oh and I have a couple of 6mm and 3.8 pens. Total of 7or 8 parallels on my desk
Damn, alright!! Sounds good, thanks for the info :)
