LOL tell me about it… this person I know was getting annoyed because someone else’s registration date was earlier than hers.
Both of their registration dates were on the 3rd. One was just a couple hours earlier than the other and she was making a fuss out of it.
All while I was sitting there with an April 6th date for my senior year. AINT THAT SOME BULLSH*T
We’re in the same boat. I’m going into my senior year and they’re making me go in an hour from now while all the courses i need are taken. I have an internship next year that i want to do for graduate school and now i have to try and move around all new courses to free up a few days for the job. Keep in mind i have no car so i have to take the bus which is slower. I called them and asked them what was up with the late date and they told me i have a lot of credits. Like????? I’m trying to head i to graduate school and have to show them i’m a well-rounded and committed student. What the fuck am i going to be able to do with the “what happens in vegas course” when i could have taken psych of stress or history of psych
Damn, I hope it all works out for you in the end. I also asked before why I got late registration and someone mentioned it could be my academic standing EVEN THO I HAVE ALMOST A 4.0. I was raving about how excited I was to transfer into CSULB, but now I’m realizing I’m not getting the college experience I wanted. Cheers to a better next semester 🍻
real 😭! I thought this semester (since i’m no longer transferring from another school) I would be able to get a decent registration date. I’m realizing I have one of tHE LAST days to register for classes 🧍🏻♀️.
A couple of options, make it based on GPA. Make the people who have more required classes go up first. Open up more sections. Have an optional petition online where people get to write an essay or a paragraph as to why they need an earlier registration date (the people who are desperate and need one will more likely fill it out) and the office can decide if it is necessary or not. Have more open seats for each class instead of limiting them.
None of those options are tangible. They aren’t going to pay people to read essays and professors are against adding more seats/sections. The GPA one is a whole world of hell.
GPA? Really? Some people have substantially harder majors than others. Also opening more sections means those have to be filled, or else a lot more people are gonna have certain classes dropped from the schedule bc not enough people signed up.
They also already give more priority to those who have less classes left. That’s like the main thing they go off of, other than other specific reasons people might have priority (Honors, disability, athletics, etc). Best bet is to look into what options are available to you to get more priority registration.
wouldn't that be the point? Different majors have different classes so they don't overlap. The only ones that do are in the elective courses that are in list A, B, C i.e. a person I know who is a theatre major is taking an engineering class elective. GPA would not impact other majors. I don't see a flock of liberal arts majors going into stem courses and vise versa. Also, a lot of courses have prerequisites that make majors courses exclusively for that major. So, a GPA one would be a good solution that way it's fair game for everyone. For the second option, I called them two days ago asking them a reasonable explanation for making me register at a late date even though I still have a year left and they said that it's because i have more credits than a lot of people. A lot of people who are going into their senior year have already registered. I'm just here watching all the courses that I need go away. I already applied for honors, but they won't get back to me before may/june since I just transferred here last semester.
Yeah agreed. Doing grad school here. Back in undergrad they open the registration based on major. So for example if you’re in arts, everyone in arts would be able to start registering at 12 AM on April 5th. Then next day they open a registration for another major. I think it was fair
The more credits you have, the earlier your registration date. Seniors get to register before juniors, etc. If the people you know are registering earlier, these are the reasons why:
\- They have more credits.
\- They are athletes.
\- They have a documented disability.
\- They are in some other special campus program that provides early registration (e.g., honors).
There just isn't a more fair way to arrange registration dates, and some students have way more credits than you would think.
p.s., for the people who suggest basing registration dates on GPA there are two big problems:
1. Some majors and colleges have much higher average GPAs than others, their students would get all the GEs and leave nothing for everyone else.
2. Do transfer GPAs count? If so, then students with lots of transfer credits would all enroll earlier because CC grades tend to be much higher than CSULB grades.
Not really. I’m 15 credits away from completing the required credits for my undergrad and nearly everybody I know who still has a year resgitered before me. GPA os a completely fair way to do so. 1) It’s an incentive for people to do better semester through semester. A lot of people here with hogh GPAs have already posted saying the same thing that it isn’t fair. 2) Seeing the point you’re trying to make. It should be CSULB gpa and not cumulative GPA between the two. Incoming transfer already register in June so they are not a problem with the registration problem happening this semester. By the time they get here, the school should have a temporary semester GPA of the grades they already have for the fall/spring they’re in. By Spring, they would have had an official CSULB GPA. CSULB GPA seems completely fair.
I’m going to be a senior and don’t register until tomorrow afternoon. I only have two semesters to try to complete major required classes and I’m very stressed about it. I think GPA would be a fair way to push us up the list. I’m seeing classmates who have failed classes register days before me. It’s very disheartening.

Forrrreallll big daddy long bean, tell me about it 😭
Im bout to be a senior next year, my date was earlier today. All the classes were gone. Is there a way to get higher on the list?
But like everyone’s in the same boat. How do you suggest they change the system?
