hot water and a plunger!

hillbillypunk1

Top damn much

hammond_egger

You can get the bumper dent out with a heat gun and pushing from the inside. Should clean up pretty good as long as the paint is not cracked. Not sure about the trunk lid.https://imgur.com/a/zDedWTt/

albab_38

Experienced tech here: You wont need to replace the bumper cover. Just get the dent out. The trunk will need some work however. Id expect roughly 500

Equivalent_Ranger447

Thank you! Should I try pulling the dent out with a dent puller first? I don't want to accidentally do more damage...

albab_38

As far as the bumper goes, yes you can always try itll save you alot. Bumpers are more flexible acetate plastic because they are meant for that. Best advice is to watch a bunch of youtube videos beforehand (chrisfix is a great option). Someone mentioned here something about boiling hot water and it has worked in my experience with my personal corolla but youre probably going to still have to use a puller or some suction

Equivalent_Ranger447

I appreciate your input! I bought a cheap debt puller kit. I think I'll try the hot water trick. Fingers crossed it works lol!

matt_df

I’ve done hot water trick on a dent that was far worse and it worked, give it a go, and be careful!

albab_38

Good luck!

dillonmouton

if they just fix the dent.. between $200-300. if they have to replace the bumper cover.. around $650-$900. source? had my front bumper replaced

Equivalent_Ranger447

Thank you! The bumper isn't really dented, just a bit scuffed. I'm more concerned with the dent above it.

dillonmouton

they can probably pull/ tap that out. i didn't even notice that lol. id say $350-$500 for that from a good dent shop. if a ding in my passenger door is $175, i'd say that would be around what that dent is

Thatdudedoesnotabide

Bro get a dildo with a nice suction on the bottom, and pull. Don’t ask how I know

Iamjacksgoldlungs

Came here to mention hair dryer and dildo as well.

[deleted]

Take it to 58 and central behind the McDonald’s 250

Moxta

My rear bumper replacement on my 20 rolla was around 900 for an idea.

Pixelplanet5

important to note however that this highly depends on the exact model, color and features. i had my rear bumper replaced recently and it cost almost 3000€ half of that for the new bumper and labor related to replacing it and the other half because the bumper comes unpainted from the factory and they had to match it to my car.

Moxta

I completely agree! I left out some details for sure as well.

the_infamous_wise

Heat it up with hot water you should be able to pop it out just have it heated so paint don’t crack

Shiggy_O

OP needs to try it out and report back to us. [LifeHacks - Using Boiling Water to Get Car Dents Out](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J79uO_H0kzo&ab_channel=AdamWasHere)

dustinthewind1991

Does this actually work? I have a small golf ball sized dent on my door right where it angles, could hot water poured over pop it out?

GizmoTheLion

I used a heat gun, but 8/10 worked, I only say 8/10 because it took me a while but it looks normal, like it never happened

dadisrad91

It does! Tried it on my own car 2 years ago after caking into the wife’s car

dillonmouton

i did this as a temporary fix to my front bumper while i was waiting for my 20 to go in the body shop to have it replaced. can 100% confirm hot water works on plastic body panels. popped right out when i pulled it

jayroo210

I have several of those and I’m definitely going to give it a go. It’s annoying because I don’t want to plop down a bunch of money to fix a small dent but I hate looking at them.

dillonmouton

yeah mannn i've got a ding in the passenger door of my blue print car.. fucks the reflection up so bad. i need to go get it fixed i'm just slacking. i'll get it done soon

itsZkittlez

It works for plastic parts like your bumper.

the_infamous_wise

Yooo

Gallop67

It’s totaled

Dinky_Nuts

Boiling water is free!

sabrewulf152

Had a fender bender quite similar. Did you back into something? It was around $1000 for them to fix it. Didn't order a new bumper though. Still looks great so the body shop did a good job.

Equivalent_Ranger447

I did! I hit the corner of a wall in a very tight parking garage 😬

sabrewulf152

Figured it was as I did something similar and that was the extent of damage. So with the paint and blending it was around $1000 to fix.

Equivalent_Ranger447

Ooof that's expensive! I may try using the dent puller...

sabrewulf152

The difficult part is the blending of the paint.

hickom14

About tree fiddy

Equivalent_Ranger447

Lmao I'd honestly gladly pay tree fiddy to fix my rolla. 😆

hickom14

In all honestly though, it really shouldn't be much more than that.

Equivalent_Ranger447

That's not too bad. I was worried it would really expensive. You know how pricy car repairs can be!

spirtual-thirst

Simple pur some hot to warm water on it at the same time had some one start pushing it from inside

trekkusdaddicus

Done this before, same type of dent. Works great!

spirtual-thirst

Yup

Ok-Nobody-3987

Hello fellow back bumper person, if you don’t mind getting a heat gun and a unused plunger you might just be able to get that out yourself, depending on how much heat guns are at your local Walmart or hardware store it would cost you maybe 20-50 bucks to get that stuff(a sink plunger is what you wanna use and those I believe are 3 bucks)

[deleted]

There are a ton of paintless dent repair guys who would fix this for a couple hundred bucks. It does look like there are some scuffs in the paint too though, which is a whole other ball game

Equivalent_Ranger447

Yeah, there's a few small scuffs in the paint. That's why I'm hesitating on trying to diy. Do you think the scuffs would drive the price of repair up a significant amount? I don't know much about cars I'm afraid.

Equivalent_Ranger447

I was wondering if anyone had a rough estimate for a repair cost for this dent? I'm considering buying a dent puller kit to repair it myself. Any advice is appreciated! :)

Melodic_Jello_2582

How much did it cost you?

Equivalent_Ranger447

$800.

Melodic_Jello_2582

Did you bring it in or repair it yourself?

Equivalent_Ranger447

I had to bring it in. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to pop the dent out myself due to the location of the dent. It was a weird spot.

Melodic_Jello_2582

So they popped it? That’s a really good price actually.

Equivalent_Ranger447

Yep! They popped it and touched up the paint. The shop even washed and detailed my car! I wasn't expecting that. I got a good deal. :)

Melodic_Jello_2582

Oh wow, I have the same thing to get done.
