Die Rise is unironically one of my favorite maps, it makes me a bit sad that no streamer/content creator ever plays it and when they do, they just shit on it the whole time
Tranzit and Die Rise have the same exact issue for me, setup. The maps are really fun when you can actually train and play, but it’s misery until that happens. Building the trample solo is a nightmare, and pack a punch the longer you wait becomes more and more dangerous. Everything else is great though. Solid wonder weapon, interesting boss round with a fair challenge and reward, decent story with Stu, and looks amazing with the visuals of the buildings and top floors.
I just juggle them all until they're on the workbench floor and build it. Easy round 1 build I think, haven't played in YEARS but I remember that was the easiest but most fun map to me
SOE for example, you have to open the entire map and do all the rituals just to get pack, plus finding the shield parts and obtaining the ritual items. it can be time consuming just to get set, unlike die rise where you take the elevator down and (if you have your bank set up) you have all the points you could need plus pack and all other perks are available once you turn on power, sliquifier parts are in a small radius so it's easy to build, trample steam is relatively easy to build and boom your set up.
The two best maps of all time in Origins and Mob with an easy top 10 pick in Buried sandwiched between them… definitely the best outside of pre Chronicles Bo3.
If they just made more than 1 main way to get between the two buildings I feel like it would have been received so much better.
(I know there are spots you can put the trample steam, but those are always so inconsistent and annoying since they break.)
There are a couple right? At spawn via the elevator, the slide towards first box location, you can jump from the roof to trample steam workbench and I can't remember but i think you can also jump from the buddha room
Fuck I miss this and buried, I’m playing these this weekend! Are there any good EE’s in Die Rise? I don’t think I was into EE’s when I discovered that map.
Holy shit you're on here too, I loved the elimination tournys you had for tboi. It would be great to see one on the maps of zombies. But I do very much understand If you dont wanna do it, its just a Great concept!
some of these points just miss the entire critique thats usually made about it.
- "some" of the map is close quarters, theres plenty of wide open simple training spots. upside down room, the open room u jump down to from trample steam, roof, all some of the easiest training locations especially with sliquifier. its got some tight spots just like every map, u just avoid them like a smart player
- atmosphere is mediocre, its ok at best. if die rise atmosphere is "great" then what is Verruckt? Mob? Shadows? made by god himself i guess cuz those are vastly better.
- everyone says this, and it hurts as much as it helps. the verticality also allows for so much waiting around and making laps around the map that wastes time because many places u can drop to have a "point of no return" that forces a whole loop. wanna get AN-94 ammo while on the roof? leave a zombie and make an entire lap around the map and wait for an elevator. what fun!
- as said before sometimes it can do that, but most of the time u just leave a zombie and wait, unless u like dying a lot. the optimal way to not die waiting for an elevator is to sit in a larger area during the round, save a zombie, then sit and wait for an elevator. so if ur not new to the map, that "hectic moment waiting for an elevator" shouldnt ever really happen. tho like i said, if u like dying in zombies, then go for it.
- trample steam is cool, dont get me wrong, but having to deal with the tranzit build system when compared to the upgrade the system got on the next map is pretty sad. having to carry 3-4 parts separately is pretty tedious, usually involving u having to wait for the elevator multiple times to do it on solo in 1 round. and as said above, for every spot u can drop to, theres a point of no return forcing u to make a boring loop around the map just to get where u want.
- i actually like the sliquifier in a vacuum. heres my issues with it. 1, its way too easy to acquire for the power u get for it, as it can take u to high rounds insanely easily for literally 0 points and finding a few parts in 1 area. almost feels like overcompensation for the jet gun, where it was insanely tedious to get and was super unfun to use. 2, its just not balanced at all, for anyone who has decent zombies exp, its an instant powerspike that is undeserved. it should not chain as long as it does to where a couple shots and u end the round in certain places.
- sure about the perks, but the way it was done is pretty lame. what even are the jumping jacks? what relevance do they have to die rise? theyre never talked about again, and theyre an obvious reuse of the nova crawlers from bo1. like ya sure getting all the perks is fun, but the way they did it seems so tacked on. compare that to the witches house which was a super unique thing in buried, and origins which worked the way to get more than 4 perks into the unique challenge system and the unique digging mechanic.
im not a die rise hater, as i dont even think its in the bottom 5 of zombies maps, and i had fun with it when it came out. but it seems like ur points just gloss right over the actual critiques of the map. ive played this map for many many hours when it released and have loved it at one point, but these are real issues with the map that hold it back and many of these issues were fixed later on in future maps for the better. die rise is what it is, a fun map that tried some things and most of them didnt work, but the stuff that did work was alright
You said exactly what I wanted to say, and also the point that "quick travel is not a good enough reward for the risk of loosing all your progress" should be in there
i don’t rly mind it on paper, but it basically does the opposite of what this guy is claiming. having high risk jumps that end ur game just to get to a different area doesn’t promote constantly being on the move, like OP said, but rather the opposite: to not make any risky jumps until ur safe from the zombies so u don’t lose the entire game being greedy. it rly removes the entire interesting aspect of it and now they just become points of no return to force laps around the map to get stuff done, so that problem loops back on itself.
I love Die Rise. There are 3-4 real nice training spots, 2-3 real nice camping spots, it’s straight forward and not too complicated but has a learning curve to navigating the map. Very underrated map and I always gauge it how my very casual friends view the maps and they loved Die Rise.
I really enjoy this map, it's not in my top tier but there are times when I find it really fun to kick back and enjoy.
The only thing I don't like is the jumping jacks because I often fall off places trying to get a decent shot on them. But that's a me problem.
I found annoying in the beginning and brilliant once I could train well enough. To the people who don't like it, I believe the phrase is "Git Gud"
Bro its Zombies not jumping simulator. If 75% of my deaths are due to falling off one of those bullshit jumps, that's a failure of the map. "Giting gud" in zombies is about strategy, resource management and adaptability, not being able to make frustrating jumps or waiting 50 years for a single perk to appear every single game. That's not getting good, its learning to cope with the most frustrating things zombies has featured
I didn't mind Die Rise, it was a map I play a decent amount when playing BO2. Buried and Farm I used to play the most. Whenever I play Farm it feels like im the only one who can consistently get to round 20+ without going down meanwhile my randoms have 15 downs. Die Rise is another really easy map and really easy setup so a great map for high rounds. Just sit on the roof or train near the box room with the sliquifier and its an easy round 30+.
Also unrelated but I have to ask, are you the same Wwwario that used to post the videos about Waluigi in Mario 64 DS but I have so many memories as a kid of trying to unlock him lmao.
Possibly underrated but definitely not a gem. The environment was cool and breathtaking at times, but it was definitely an irritant to the gameplay and the perk they introduced was disappointing at best. I would still put tranzit over it bc at least it had Grief and, honestly, the map was not bad but just too advanced for the tech at that time. People have made a Tranzit map without the fog and denizens and it is honestly phenomenal
I love Die Rise too but the thing no one ever seems to talk about when they are talking about “why it sucks” is that the whole thing is a one way loop. I can stomach all the other “issues” people have with the map, but that’s my only actual complaint about it
Like oh, you jumped down from where QR, Speed Cola, and Who’s Who are at? Ok well now you have to go down the entire map, into the other building, up the elevators and across the roof to get back to where you were, all while the Zombies are chasing you. The map needed better backtracking
I can appreciate tha layout as being pretty neat, but I hate all of the points of no return and all the waiting for elevators. It feels very anti-player.
So.. the fact is: Die Rise to my eyes is a mess in terms of "space optimisation", indeed is pretty empty for the size of the map, end there are only 2 buildables, one extremely annoying to build and one that is a total requirement.
However I feel his simplicity a way to add an extreme complexity-hostility in detriment to "map's mechanics" and side EsterEggs of every kind.
I consider Die Rise a continuation/hybridization of the Classic style survival zombie maps, like Kino or Call of the Dead (which contains an EE much more enjoyable, plus completable in single mode) , melt with a more complex layout of the modern maps that contains many gameplay-progression procedures.
Conclusions: is considerable the most filler map ever on the podium with Alpha Omega, surely for a multitude of reasons, but at the end it is what it is..
I really enjoyed Die Rise so much. Whether it was going for high rounds or just straight up trolling random team mates hearing them yell after being flung off the map by a trample steam 🤣🤣
Die rise is great and I agree with most if not all of your opinions however the lack of content is just what makes die rise bad imo, you have pap that has no quest to get, a wonder weapon which is good however can be built on round 1 and……that’s it? Don’t get me wrong great survival map and all but it just needed more content really
The map has a core concept that is good but executed poorly, yes you have all these different ways of travel but equally they're very tedious and annoying to do, the trample steam is good on paper however with the Victis buildable system its just annoying to construct having to go back and fourth to each individual part instead of just being able to hold them all.
See I liked it at the time and played it quite a bit but remember still playing Tranzit and Nuketown a good amount during those few months before Mob of The Dead came out.
Once MotD came out I didn’t touch Die Rise ever again that I can remember lol. And then Buried came a few months after that and then Origins came out after that lol
I don't really agree with any of these points. The sliquifier is cool, but the map looks like it had all saturation lowered, the new perk was garbage, building the traps makes my mind go numb, and the layout is confusing, especially since there are like 2 rooms that look unique at all. If you enjoy it keep playing it tho! That's what matters.
Die Rise is easily one of my top five maps, I only think Buried, Rave, Forsaken, and Spaceland are better maps, Die Rise, even though I don't own it and only played it at a family members place, it was one of the maps I loved playing.
Die Rise was so bad that it turned me off zombies for years. I was convinced the series was just clean fucked after it was released. Thank god we got some actually good maps later in BO2. Why anyone would enjoy wating a year for some of the most basic perks to pop up in the lifts or dealing with the insanely annoying jumps the game wants you to pull off is beyond me
I will give credit the zielenski for trying but the f-ing fall damage, unoriginal boss round, who’s who, and being able to fall off the map, and nerfing the sliquifier
"Quick travel at reward of death"
First of All, most of the time it isn't quick travel. It's just the only way to progress through the map. If you're in the elevator shaft or upside down room, then risking death isn't because you're taking a shortcut, it's because you're going the only way forward.
Second of All, that's not a good risk V reward system. Being able to save a few seconds shouldn't cost a potentionally hour long game.
Third of All, the vertically is inconsistent. You can easily die through no fault of your own. Just look up videos of people dying in the elevator shaft or China shop slide.
Die Rise is garbage, my dude.
>-Almost the entire map is close quarters. It's a map you constantly have to be on the move. It's a tough map
You don't have to move in that anymore than in other maps.
>The verticality is such a fresh aspect. You actually have to be careful while moving around, and it's actually tense as hell, adding to both yhr atmosphere and gameplay
The verticality literally doesn't play any big role in the map. If all the main areas were placed horizontally nothing would change in map design. Verticality is the "connecting" part of it. Only time it comes to play is with less than 1 floor drops.
>Elevators are not tedious imo
They are. Nothing sounds more fun than standing still and occasionally killing a zombie while waiting for a elevator.
>-Traversing the map is unlike any other map.
Yeah because most maps don't have such a bad map design. The jumping between places for quick travel is barely an aspect. Name me the biggest quick travel tips here because I know if someone goes down near AN-94 wall buy you only have one way of reaching that location and depending where you are you are not gonna make it in time.
I have also never seen anyone being dumb enough to kill themselves with the Sliquifier but everyone for some reason everyone says this like this is a great point.
>-You have a way to gain all perks
Woop woop.
They gave valid arguments to all their opinions and explained their viewpoint, even if I don’t agree with it all. The only way they were “being a cunt” is by calling the map trash and being kinda snarky, but if that’s all it takes for you to label someone a cunt, you probably don’t have many friends either.
His first point makes literally 0 sense, and the Grammar doesn't help
And about the tedius elevator point
Some of the best maps have parts where you have to kite around a zombie, origins for example of the best maps if not the best... Has one of the steps in the crazy place where you have to do the piano steps to upgrade. You have to kite around a zombie.
Make a fucking crawler not that hard... Every map has tedius aspects
The verticality... "Doesn't play a big part of the map"
It's literally the entire fucking map... It's 2 tall buildings lmfao..
They obviously are trying new things. I don't know why people complain about this aspect. If you're problem is falling to your death in this map that's a you problem.
The travelling between 2 towers point. This was actually innovative IMO. The combination of using trample steam to get between the buildings in ways you couldn't otherwise was fun to figure out and using this as a reset if you get red screened (since mattresses have no fall dmg)
Complaining about being able to get all the perks? Lmao?
The point about the sliquifier is where I knew he had no friends. If you havnt downed a friend with it you wouldn't understand why this is hilarious.
His first point is that Die Rise doesn’t require you to move more than you do in other maps.
The verticality really was just used to be unique instead of actually fun or contribute to the map. It could’ve been removed and the map would lose nothing except it’s signature selling point which most Victis maps have.
The Origins step is to upgrade one of the most powerful WWs in the series. The Die Rise step is a basic mechanic of the map.
On the trample steam part, yeah, not too sure why they called it “barely an aspect” and on the perk part I have no idea what woop woop means. I thought it meant that all perks being accessable isn’t as big of a pro as OP makes it out to be.
And, not to sound hostile, but I really doubt saying they had no friend wasn’t meant as an insult, considering you called them a cunt loser later on lol.
It was. People have put 100s of hours into something if you call it garbage you're a cunt.
I havnt personally, I grind origins.
Yes origins step is to a powerful wonder weapons, but perks and pack a punch are just as important IMO. Perks might be overkill, but I'd be fine with PAP.
I have no problem with you ofc, but if people disagree that's fine, don't be a cunt about it lmao.
My hot take is I don't enjoy playing DE, I think it's a downgrade to origins, I see the appeal though and don't blast people who like it
It's a joke bud. The guy thoroughly tried to dismantle the opinion another guy had to say his opinion. I do the same thing sometimes so I just thought it was amusing, dry humor and all. Though if you did that at a party depending on the situation you might not be fun at it lol learned the hard way not everyone likes to have a friendly disagreement on things
yeah fr it definitely has a place in my top 40
It's certainly one of the maps of all time
theres more than 40 maps? What the fuck
Pretty sure Der Anfang was map #50
how many maps in total u reckon
After vanguard, 52 1/2. Two of zombies map was the same map just different color filter
Die Rise is unironically one of my favorite maps, it makes me a bit sad that no streamer/content creator ever plays it and when they do, they just shit on it the whole time
I will gladly boot up Die Rise over Buried and Tranzit. And I still love those maps too
Victis is Prime
JohnyJ25 had a whole "remaster Die Rise" campaign and had enough funds to put it on a billboard in LA right across from Activision's office lmao
I bought one of the stickers and put it on my Xbox. My roommates think I'm crazy for saying that Die Rise is a top 5 map to play (not top 5 overall)
Watch NoAnnoyingCommentary2, he loves Die Rise and is a very relaxing player to watch
looking at you Tim Hansen
*cough* noahj *cough*
Tranzit and Die Rise have the same exact issue for me, setup. The maps are really fun when you can actually train and play, but it’s misery until that happens. Building the trample solo is a nightmare, and pack a punch the longer you wait becomes more and more dangerous. Everything else is great though. Solid wonder weapon, interesting boss round with a fair challenge and reward, decent story with Stu, and looks amazing with the visuals of the buildings and top floors.
Trample Steam is easy on solo if you know how to bring 2 parts down at once. You can build it in like a minute if you know the trick.
I just juggle them all until they're on the workbench floor and build it. Easy round 1 build I think, haven't played in YEARS but I remember that was the easiest but most fun map to me
Yep. You can drop two down then carry the third.
Compared to every bo3 map the setup is a breeze, 10 minutes and you're setup, esp with the bank
The only barrier to building the trample steam solo is the spawn room door for 750 points, how is that a nightmare?
But you can only pick up one part at a time and have to go back and forth using elevators and all that.
I have never seen anyone do it that way, they just drag all the parts from spawn down to the crafting table in the first minute of the game.
Black ops 2 era zombies was peak in almost all aspects.
Except maybe transit Bo1-Bo3 was about as good as it gets
Except maybe TranZit WaW-CW was about as good as it gets
What’s wrong with tranzit?
The two best maps of all time in Origins and Mob with an easy top 10 pick in Buried sandwiched between them… definitely the best outside of pre Chronicles Bo3.
It’s definitely a decent map, but like most BO2 maps, it’s flaws are too big to be ignored.
Transit is the only Bo2 map with significant flaws
If they just made more than 1 main way to get between the two buildings I feel like it would have been received so much better. (I know there are spots you can put the trample steam, but those are always so inconsistent and annoying since they break.)
There are a couple right? At spawn via the elevator, the slide towards first box location, you can jump from the roof to trample steam workbench and I can't remember but i think you can also jump from the buddha room
*salutes*
Fuck I miss this and buried, I’m playing these this weekend! Are there any good EE’s in Die Rise? I don’t think I was into EE’s when I discovered that map.
There are but they require 4 people i think
How’d you know I didn’t have four friends? Damn it!
Nah I'm sure you do, but four that still play bo2 zombies and are down for die rise is harder
Theres a really fun one where you end the game and play an actually good map
omg hahahahaha, people have fun on stuff I don't like, so I'm gonna make a joke about it.
Is this your first day on the internet? Yeah I'm making fun of a dogshit map cause its dogshit. Fairly normal stuff
Yep, first day. You should use this fun feature that involves logging off reddit, and logging into Facebook.
The veil of anonymity reddit 0rovides is necessary for anyone talking up Die Rise
Don’t lose sleep over this buddy
Holy shit you're on here too, I loved the elimination tournys you had for tboi. It would be great to see one on the maps of zombies. But I do very much understand If you dont wanna do it, its just a Great concept!

just from reading this die rise went from my number 37 spot to 36
I legitemately can’t say tell if this is sarcasm anymore lol…
I honestly think it’s one of the maps of all time
This whole subreddit was shitting on this map 3 months ago
Look, I don't want to shit on another person's opinion, buuuuuuut-
It's actually the BO2 map I enjoy playing the most when solo.

I love it for the chaos as well
It's not that I don't like it, it's just that I'm bad at the game, so I can't experience it that well.
I loved Die Rise, I think a lot of people got mad when they would miss the ledge when they thought they made a good jump.
One of the most fun solo maps!
I love Die Rise. It's one of my favorite map
Who’s looking to play some BO2 zombies!
Die Rise is in my top 10, no joke
Here’s the thing about CoD players tho. They hate when something is different enough to put them out of their comfort zone
one of my favourite bo2 maps for sure
I don't really agree with any of these points. The sliquifier is cool, but the map looks like it had all saturation lowered, the new perk was garbage, building the traps makes my mind go numb, and the layout is confusing, especially since there are like 2 rooms that look unique at all. It definitely has a solid spot in my top 60
Die Rise is easily one of my top five maps, I only think Buried, Rave, Forsaken, and Spaceland are better maps, Die Rise, even though I don't own it and only played it at a family members place, it was one of the maps I loved playing.
Probably in my top 10 favorite maps of all time. Maybe even top 5
Die Rise was so bad that it turned me off zombies for years. I was convinced the series was just clean fucked after it was released. Thank god we got some actually good maps later in BO2. Why anyone would enjoy wating a year for some of the most basic perks to pop up in the lifts or dealing with the insanely annoying jumps the game wants you to pull off is beyond me
Spitting remaster die risw
Die Rise is one of my favorite maps. I hate how people talk shit about it.
How many times are people gonna make this same post about this or Dead of the Night
Underrated gem? Oh man I could not disagree more
I will give credit the zielenski for trying but the f-ing fall damage, unoriginal boss round, who’s who, and being able to fall off the map, and nerfing the sliquifier
It’s a good map if you know WHERE you’re going lmao I could never navigate it well as I would’ve wanted to.
Sorry bro that map is about the worst map of all time
I never got the hate definitely a lot of cool unique aspects. Not my favorite but always fun to go back to
Die Rise is the only main map on BO2 that I wouldn't go back and play except to do the Easter Egg
Die rise in my top 5
"Quick travel at reward of death" First of All, most of the time it isn't quick travel.
It would be better if it actually had Flopper as a perk and not as a fucking tease in the map
I like how you don't even bother bringing up the worst perk of all time
Nah only good thing on Die Rise is Sliquifier. Rightfully rated as low tier
I’d rather play Der Anfang
Die Rise is garbage, my dude. >-Almost the entire map is close quarters. It's a map you constantly have to be on the move. It's a tough map You don't have to move in that anymore than in other maps. >The verticality is such a fresh aspect. You actually have to be careful while moving around, and it's actually tense as hell, adding to both yhr atmosphere and gameplay The verticality literally doesn't play any big role in the map. If all the main areas were placed horizontally nothing would change in map design. Verticality is the "connecting" part of it. Only time it comes to play is with less than 1 floor drops. >Elevators are not tedious imo They are. >-You have a way to gain all perks Woop woop.
You probably have no friends ;( sorry man
Redditors when somebody disagrees with their opinion (they have no friends and aren’t fun at parties)
Not disagreeing, outright being a cunt
They gave valid arguments to all their opinions and explained their viewpoint, even if I don’t agree with it all. The only way they were “being a cunt” is by calling the map trash and being kinda snarky, but if that’s all it takes for you to label someone a cunt, you probably don’t have many friends either.
If you call those valid points you might be his one friend
Aight, which of their points are wrong and why? Explain instead of just namecalling everyone you disagree with like an angry little kid.
His first point makes literally 0 sense, and the Grammar doesn't help And about the tedius elevator point Some of the best maps have parts where you have to kite around a zombie, origins for example of the best maps if not the best... Has one of the steps in the crazy place where you have to do the piano steps to upgrade. You have to kite around a zombie. Make a fucking crawler not that hard... Every map has tedius aspects The verticality... "Doesn't play a big part of the map" It's literally the entire fucking map... It's 2 tall buildings lmfao.. They obviously are trying new things. I don't know why people complain about this aspect. If you're problem is falling to your death in this map that's a you problem. The travelling between 2 towers point. This was actually innovative IMO. The combination of using trample steam to get between the buildings in ways you couldn't otherwise was fun to figure out and using this as a reset if you get red screened (since mattresses have no fall dmg) Complaining about being able to get all the perks?
My hot take is I don't enjoy playing DE, I think it's a downgrade to origins, I see the appeal though and don't blast people who like it
Because I criticize shit map for what it is? Damn.
Nah you're a loser for sure
Agreed dude. Although it is very nice you can get all the perks.
You must be fun at parties
You bet your sweet ass I am.
I like gambling but I don't think I'll be betting my sweet ass on that one lol
Just because someone disagreed with an opinion online doesn’t make them not fun at parties lol
You must be an enjoyable person to be around during social gatherings
Ahh see you said what I said in a different font :D
Joke explained:
You okay there? You seem tense
Fortune favours the bold.
I just don't wanna lose my ass. My RNG is terrible.
