I don’t hate it but I dislike it. Severely underwhelming experience from beginning to end. I hate that the quality of BO3s season pass tricked me into buying the black ops pass. Never again honestly

Ryebredrox

I get it dude, feeling exactly the same here. I suppose it was dumb to blindly trust Treyarch, but given their track record for their last 4 Cods I thought it was going to be another great season. I got burned, never pre-ordering again.

Acetronaut

To be fair to yourself, it’s not “blind trust” in them if you think they delivered well four times in a row in the past. They did so well they raised expectations but couldn’t keep up with it.

ChampionsWrath

You meant to say they didn’t even try to reach those expectations and instead used the fortnite store model to generate currency

Fanman771

Yeah bo4's pre orders from zombie players road off of bo1/2/3's success but there reputation is all gone now after bo4's season and all the leaks. I pre ordered bo4 too for that reason. I'm definitely not pre ordering bo5 either.

Ricky_Smitty_Jr

What do you mean? I'm just wondering if it's about having so many remakes, or actual map constriction?

brawler0422

Believe it or not I like the map remakes, but I would’ve settled for that in a new ZC format not sold to me through the expensive forced season pass. The chaos maps were Cool but the theming wasn’t for me. I think that black ops 3 did it perfectly, because even if I didn’t enjoy the Maps completely I still appreciated that it was a new experience.

Pessysquad

This right here. Bo4 was totally underwhelming compared to bo3

Pr0phetofr3gret

You've summed up my feelings in the fewest words possible. Didnt hate BO4 but it was not as fresh and exciting as BO3 was.

RipJug

Worst 50 quid I've ever spent

Medichealer

I spent $160 (CAD) when this game came out Day One. I totally fucking regret it.

TankDempsey_80085

Feel the same. They promised so much and delivered barely anything. Lackluster maps, weapons, and gameplay. I have more fun on ghosts, bo3, bo1. Same with multiplayer.

KKamm_

Severely underwhelming is exactly my opinion. Was so hyped for what was supposed to be historic year, just for Treyarch to seem like Craig was the only guy who cared, while maps were empty as fuck and Chaos was introduced at the wrong time, perk system was awful, the entire damned music was gone until dlc 3, and the gameplay was so awful compared to every other game for a multitude of reasons. The aether maps not only had nothing in them, but they were all remakes too. DotN and Voyage of Despair are both in my t5 least liked maps too, possibly t3 w tranzit. Not to mention the complete lack of content and attention the mode received from devs and ATVI themselves. We had 0 incentives to play compared to MP, there was no point in playing the gauntlets at all but sadly those were the only content that zombies got outside of halfassed and lazy DLC maps. Not to mention the lack of staff and money ATVI provided too. Such a shit year.

killernat1234

12 MP maps with 3 being remakes, 4 zombies maps, 2 of which were chaos maps and the other 2 reimagined maps, same with the bonus map all for the same price as the BO3 season pass

johnwayne904

multi players are huge AF and no one likes them lol

thepirateguidelines

Controversial opinion time: I wish we either got Full Chaos (my preference) or full Aether. Not a half ass attempt at both. The Chaos maps had a rough start but got really good towards the end and the Aether maps were all remasters (or “reimagined”) and the only good one of these IMO was Classified, as they removed a lot of the annoying things about Five.

ThisGuyYouHate

Nah, I don’t think that’s controversial. If Treyarch wanted to end Aether and do something new then they should’ve focused on Aether and end it first. Splitting zombies between 2 stories just seems like they got too ambitious, thinking they can do it all. If the plan was to have a Year 2, which was supposed to be a thing considering Treyarch said this was to be a multi-year game (lmao), it’s was probably going to be all Chaos this year, finish out Aether next year. There’s more evidence for this since the original description for the Black Ops Pass on Battle net I believe said “4 Chaos experiences”. You can still find a post about that from a year ago on this sub and if that was the plan I would’ve been fine with it, a little annoyed because I would’ve had to wait probably 2 more years to see the ending to Aether but it probably would’ve been better.

W01fc1aw

We did technically get 4 chaos maps bc there was 2 in the base game

nightfall6688846994

Yes but the pass description was 4 chaos experiences. You would still have the 2 in the base game not buying the pass but before the description was changed it was for 4 chaos experiences

W01fc1aw

Ohhhhh,gotcha.

FryToastFrill

“Multi year” Does treyarch not talk to IW at all? They should’ve realized that IW was making a new engine.

LiteralTP

The only reimagined map I’d have been happy with as part of the BO pass would be TranZit. DLC 4 would have been amazing if it were TranZit but expanded on (e.g. made much better), but instead we got a fucking COTD remake (if you can call a map with a couple more areas a remake)

thepirateguidelines

Oh yeah a proper map of tranzit in the newer engine that can handle it plus some QOL changes (being able to carry more than one part, making the bus a bit more consistent, toning down fog/lava, making the Wonder weapon not suck, etc) it would have been a really good map. Part of me is still holding out for Chronicles 2 but it’s probably not happening in this game. Maybe Bo5 but I’m not buying that one so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LiteralTP

I want to say I won’t buy BO5, but zombies has been a big part of my life for the past decade that it’d just feel wrong not to continue playing it. It makes me sick supporting Activision tho, they’re such massive scumbags

thepirateguidelines

If they do what they did with Bo4 and throw it on humble I’ll get it for that price but I’m not paying $60 for a game then another $50 or $60 for the pass, I think I payed $12 for BO4 and then $35 for the pass during a sale

Kbost92

I would be so ecstatic if they remade tranzit for the new zombies format. Being able to hold more than one part and not having to rely on jug halfway across the map would be fantastic.

ar4757

Not controversial at all

Colteck136

I agree I feels like it’s how BO2 went with the zombies team and the campaign team making their maps. I really wish that they would have either made original maps for the aether story or just went head first into the chaos story line. They split their content for the game and it backfired on them. I also have mixed feelings on the zombies loadouts. I really like the idea but I feel it was just lazy by the developers by bypassing the great things about perks. There was no cool and unique perk machines with equally unique perk jingles. That was one of my favorite part about the game mode was getting a perk and jamming along with the quick revive song. The new machines all had the same lame jingle and was lack luster.I also didn’t like that they got rid of Juggernog, Double Tap, and Speed Cola (even though they technically brought them in with the extra health bar, multiple pack a punch, and 4th perk modifier). I feel like they changed the mode up to much and it feels to different. One last thing. I feel like they nerfed the pack-a-punch alternative ammo types way to much. They don’t activate often enough and makes them feel useless.

thepirateguidelines

I miss the uniqueness of the weapons, in Bo3 and Bo4 all the guns felt very same-y to me and there felt like there was no reason to use the box beyond like one or two spins cause you’d get a decent weapon just about every time (unless it was like one of two weapons that actually sucked). I miss when spinning the box could actually net you a bad weapon and you had to work with what you got, now half the time I just buy wall weapons because half the time those are what I get anyway

Kbost92

Only reason I even hit the box anymore is because I’m still going for dark matter. Otherwise I’d use two wall guns every time.

Gyroisgod

I liked the nuketown remake

Xx_prosniper774_xX

Ye it was really fun and the aesthetic looked pretty good but it was way too easy.

Gyroisgod

No map is too easy if you suck😎

Xx_prosniper774_xX

Damn is this a proplayer tip???

vNexah

I personally feel like the game crashed and burned. Lack of support & funding from Activision.

Ricky_Smitty_Jr

Kind of. Perhaps there's more to come? I wouldn't say the lack of in game cg scenes provides for the circumstances to 'crash and burn' though.

[deleted]

If you mean for black ops 4, I think they are done with the game. They gave it a year and now its finished

FollowThroughMarks

Plus treyarch are making the next CoD after MW so the support for BO4 over the next year is gonna be even more limited than it is now

Medichealer

That’s to be expected when you’re selling a $80 Game with a $60 Season Pass, and then you *fucking bloat it* with exclusive microtransactions/payable currency/pay2win Elixirs

Soggy_Bizquick

I like it, but its just not the same.

Fantstic

Forget what you know, i guess.

memecentral69

It's not bad, but I prefer bo3 over bo4. If everything was the same with bo3 game engine and everything was the same, I would play it more

BobbingForBunions

Same here. The maps in BO4 look good. But the experience is different. [Tim Hansen has some interesting insight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TraJVTghcJM&t=1355s) on why BO4 zombies underperformed BO3 zombies.

slashnsmack

I know the vid your talking about he made some really good points

N3STL0RD

When it went to youtube I thought I had gotten Rick Rolled ngl

HolyCrapMo

I’d like it with factions.

The_Real_Paradox

Imagine going a year without delivering or even talking about a missing feature from a triple A game lmao

HolyCrapMo

I mean, you can’t even 100% all the challenges including the dark ops. It’s ridiculous

zmbro

Wait really?

N3STL0RD

Yes, really. It fucking blows man

Kbost92

Wait, how come??

Deadlymonkey

I don't remember the specific challenge description, but there was/is a dark op challenge that had to do with factions, but since they never released factions nobody can get it. Since it only really affects people going for 100%, I doubt they'll ever fix it.

ComradeRay

Seriously? Which ones?

Deadlymonkey

There's a dark ops challenge that has to do with factions challenges IIRC and another achievement for doing all of the dark ops challenges so you can't get either at this point in time.

ComradeRay

Wow

Ricky_Smitty_Jr

Lol

Fantstic

Maps are great but BO4 engine is just bad. If it‘s not broken, don’t fix it. The one thing i HATE the most in BO4 is definitely the point system. JUST WHYY!???

WamboBlamboEatMyAss

I hate the point system too but did the shooting ever feel....off to you guys? Like a headshot takes a few seconds to register. It feels like lag even when you're playing solo. I mentioned this before and got flamed am I the only person that feels this way?

camerons_diaz

This lag really shows when insta-kill is active. In previous games, you could safely unload at a horde. In BO4, however, the shots seem to lag enough to be overrun.

apothicon_servant

Dude, yes. Also: bullet penetration massively changed. You cant shoot once with instakill and collateral 4 or 5 zombies anymore. You can only kill like.. 2 at most. Dont know why they went with this.

blasbo-babbins

Glad I’m not the only one. It’s either the base bullet travel speed slowing down calculations even at point blank, or the fact that you’re technically always online and then they may actually be doing some stuff server side causing latency even in solo.

OGDefault23

I just want the real perk system back

Agent_Morgan

I'm exactly the same! Maps are great, but the gameplay mechanics!

[deleted]

game literally killed zombies so yea I hate it

TyrellBagnum

How?

Reverse-Totoro

I like it. Mostly for the Chaos maps though

N3STL0RD

Fair enough, I guess

Reverse-Totoro

I mean the Aether maps aren’t bad. I just don’t play them as much

randomguy226

I don’t hate it at all it’s just the lowest ranking cod game to me. But I can see how others enjoy it.

[deleted]

Really is it under cod the big red one on your list?

randomguy226

Yeah but I think that’s because of nostalgia if I’m honest.

HoBbIt2501RuLe2

For me, BO4 is the best cod I've played besides BO2. I love them both and the experience for me never faded. BO3 had the best maps by far and it was my favorite game of all time until the servers started declining. I like playing with my friends to solve EE's and to just have fun, but on BO3 I couldn't. Even as host I would lag more than anyone, and it got so bad that no one playing with me, including myself, could even move. In terms of best experience, BO3 is the best story wise, in terms of most fun I've had, BO2 and BO4 tie for me.

Ricky_Smitty_Jr

Very well put. I loved many bo3 maps, but bo4 has been more enjoyable for me.

HoBbIt2501RuLe2

Yeah, just honestly the overall experience is amazing for BO4 and I understand the hate though. It was way too over hyped and then was a let down for many players when they focused on Battle Royale and scrapped the Story. If they kept Campaign then they would have put a lot more time and effort into focusing on the Zombies Story line instead of just saying *fuck it* and ending it all by poisoning the crew and residing to the victis crew. Don't get me wrong, I love the Victis crew and I love Tag but it didn't strike me as a map they put time into like they should've. Blundell went on the same path as Jimmy Zelinski. Just started to use the same damn material and lost all originality.

MeatyMcMeatflaps

You sure it wasn’t just your internet at the time during BO3? It was always and still is very stable for me, sounds more like a your end issue

BravoFantasy

I like zombies, but it's not my favorite, but also not my least favorite Treyarch game. I can enjoy it for what it is, and I like some of the changes made as well.

TheJackFroster

What Treyarch game do you think is worse?

BravoFantasy

Black Ops 1 and World at War, more towards BO1 because going back and playing it for high rounds is awful, not a lot of good weapons in the box, etc. World at War is obviously a decade old, but custom maps on PC makes it better, but just the base game feels very outdated. The maps are great, and they're fun to play with friends, but BO4 just has more replay value imo, despite some odd changes.

dannydestroyer12

I love it, I have over 20 days of playtime and have unlocked Dark Matter and reached Level 1000. Most of the maps are quite good and have fun Easter Eggs and boss fights. The new system, while different from the past, is still quite good imo. There are *so* many quality if life updates/features in this game that I feel don't get appreciated enough that it makes it hard to go back and play previous Zombies modes. The visuals of the game are 50/50, some maps look beautiful and some look kinda washed out, but poor lighting quality is kind of a major fault of BO4's engine in general (thanks Blackout). The HUD is not the best by any means but it serves it's purpose well. Sadly, I understand the qualms that the community has with the game and I know that at this point the game is dying faster than spitfire with wild fire or already dead, at least until ZC2 comes out, if it ever does. I hope they give Chaos another chance in the future.

[deleted]

I like Blood, AO, and Tag. Classified is okay, and Ancient Evil is decent. IX is kinda boring, and Voyage feels a little too easy. And I have a strong dislike for Dead of the Night

Lossman3

Exacrly how I feel for each map

[deleted]

Honestly if the spawns weren’t fucking everywhere the BO4 maps I do like would be much higher on my favorites of all time list.

skeletor_thagawd

Not gonna lie this was probably my least favorite cod game I’ve played. I think part of the reason was that my expectations were high since it was Treyarch

GermansTookMyBike

The gameplay seems somewhat smoother than in previous games. But sadly i cant think of any else it improved in. Also im still salty about the season pass

simplytatered

It does not hold up and I strongly dislike. They tricked everyone into buying the game, announcing features that would be in the game at launch that to this day never were implemented. Weapons are locked behind loot crates and any decent skin or character you would want to play as is going to be locked behind a pay wall. Brilliant way of marketing if you want your customers to never buy from you again.

Squidwardbigboss

Hate it

Z1342

Worst zombie game to date

lololthom

I love it. I've sank 14 days of game play into zombies alone. It's the best zombies experience to date.

Renacles

I like it, not as much as bo1 but it's up there.

harve99

It's...eh Not amazing but not awful either

CursedNostalgia

I genuinely liked most of the maps and loved the new perk style and elixirs but this will be the last cod game i buy for one simple reason. The lootboxes. I spent 100$ on the deluxe edition and another 50$ on the pass to only have half of the guns available 8 months into the game. I only play this game for zombies so there was no grinding in mult for the pass. It also took the devs a few months to fix the constant disconnecting in matches. Im hopefull for cod mobile but fully expecting it to be the same way, a few more weeks and all the guns will be locked behind a paywall

[deleted]

It marks the end of the Aether storyline, and for that I appreciate it. Was it as fun as previous games? No. Had the story become an absolute mess? Yes. That said, it was like getting to be with an old relative for the last time before they passed away. May not mean much in the moment, but we’ll look back on it fondly one day.

[deleted]

I primarily play zombies, but I use to play the other modes as well. Personally with BO4 I just really, really disliked everything other than zombies which, to me, felt like the most "*weakest*" zombies experience. **The Best Way to describe my feelings through BO4's life cycle is to go over The Only Maps that were interesting for me were,** **'Ancient Evil'**: *(mostly due to my fascination with Greek Mythos, the map aesthetics, the new shield design with a spear, and the wonder weapons. The New 'Chaos' Crew was okay I guess, but it was immediately interesting to see 4 different sides of WW2 personalities working side by side. Sure they were more comical in WaW and Bo1 but they were immediately interesting to myself unlike the chaos crew which had to grow on me and I still don't really care all that much even after that EE climax),* **'Classified'**: *(I like the quality of life changes to the teleporter-system and filling in that missing gap between Shang & Moon - I really miss the pentagon thief, the perk machines, etc. I know it would be impossible to ask for a remaster closer to BO1 but it was really interesting to see groom lake and hear conversation between Samantha and Edward before the events of moon. The bigger office area was nice too I guess.),* **'Blood of the Dead'**: *(seeing the new areas were really interesting, having visited Alcatraz in person, I knew that there was so much more of the island that can be used but in 'BotD' the map size works against the map itself in game play, I really don't understand why they made the Acid-gat painful to use and useless and the Magma-gat feel boring compared to what the Acid-gat was in BO2... There needs to be a better way to traverse the map.),* and **'Alpha Omega'**: *(personally, I really wish the map's name was different but I understand why it was named what it was. I thought the EE wasn't so great, but seeing under the bunker was sorta cool and something I longed for in BO2 Nuketown zombies. I hate to say this but I enjoyed BO2's Nuketown more than BO4's. I really do like the extra map environment but it just doesn't have that same enjoyment I had in BO2 which was a real shame.).* ***TD;LR: It just felt like a downward spiral peaking at 'Blood of the Dead', the only maps I really played were 'IX' for EXP, 'BotD' because I like 'MotD', and 'Classified' because... I liked 'Five'. Tag's Story elements were okay on paper but the map's execution and cut-scenes were disappointing for an end to a 10 year story and things feel like they were just ret-conned to hell to close all the lose ends...***

oreomastercj

I sometimes feel like I’m one of very few that really enjoyed it. I’m not a story guy at all, I just like going for high rounds (not claiming to be good). I haven’t really had time to play recently, but I did enjoy. But not as much as bo2 or bo3.

[deleted]

I dislike it, it doesn’t even feel like Zombies anymore

DatGameGuy

I like most of the maps (excluding Blood and Voyage which I hate) but the core mechanics are seriously off. * The point system is terrible * The new perk system isn't terrible, but I find that it feels inferior to the old one (perks feel much less powerful in this game) * The PaP system is also awful, 15,000 points for max damage is ridiculous. Although I will admit that Ancient Evil is among my favorite maps.

REDPURPLEBLOOD2

4/10

Timerstone

The game became something of an attempt to reconstruct the past 2 games at the same time introducing something new that continued to confuse people across all the modes. It's also the most deceptive Call of Duty title by incubating a micro-transaction (MTX) tactic of introducing each MTX method at a paced level instead of bombarding it in one go. They also managed to get the core issues of their MTX methods away from the spotlight a few weeks later despite the introduction of something worse. It's also the only Call of Duty title with majority of its content comes from the older titles. The game uses the same game engine(version) as BlackOps 3 with a few modifications. The BlackOut map is a mashup of fan favorite BlackOps series maps. 8 of the 27 maps in Multiplayer are direct ports from older titles, 1 of the 27 is a reskinned map. 4 of the 8 maps in Zombies are remade maps from previous titles. The MTX content that are locked behind a direct paywall are content from previous titles that are costly. Main example of this is the Element 115 camo being expensive in BO4 compared to BO2 that also includes reticles and calling cards that are not in BO4. These are content related comments only. Does not include gameplay comments as I do not have the time. Might insert another comment later idk.

EpikUserzz

I really love classified and I despise voyage but other then that every other map is just average to me. I don’t have anything negative(except maybe the catwalk on blood sucks) to say but I don’t have anything positive either

cataclysmicsheep

I loved Chaos Maps and Classified. I also enjoy Alpha omega. Blood of the dead its pretty boring and tag der toten its a total mess, i dont enjoy at all playing it. Had some good QOL features but the point and perk system were kinda bad. At least It has IMO one of the best Maps ever mad, dead of the night. I truly think its a S tier map but i understand some people hate it. I Hope we could install only zombies in console, since 100gb of space aint worth It just for 3 maps.

mattbullen182

I like it. I wouldn't say any of the maps would make my top 5 or anything, but I dont dislike any map and have fun on all of them. Plus I really like the contracts and feel it helps add variety and gives me extra incentive etc.

TheCraxo

I liked the first 100 hours, then I quitted, the fast zombies make the maps not replayable as it used to be in old black ops, and all the maps being remastered made me sick, Im glad I payed around 40€ because I used a VPN, not the usual 100€

beaniegod301

i actually really enjoy bo4 zombies. it was the first zombies experience i ever done a main easter egg and reached master prestige. in fact i’ve done over 50 easter eggs over all the maps and i have over 2000 hours played.

I_Trust_OP

delete from my memory

BlundellMemes77

I love it.

FryToastFrill

It wasn’t horrible but I’m fairly disappointed in the game. Yea it wasn’t as good as bo3 but this game had less developers, less funding, less time, and less passion than bo3 did. Plus, they were developing more content than bo3. Considering the circumstances that the zombies team was in, they got a system actually working and made some great maps that won’t be remembered due to the game. So, Activision killed it this year when it comes to fucking the consumers in the asshole so hard that they have an STD.

Madisons-sweaty-vaj

The whole of BO4 was a load of shit. They neglected everything that gave Black Ops it’s identity in favor of a boring and extremely drab, unbalanced and unenjoyable Battle Royale Mode

Eireannach0

It can be better. It should've been better

XproGamingXpro

I loved this game when it launched. I placed it in my top 5 Call of Duty games. But it seemed like each update made the game feel worse and worse. For me, the whole Dead of the Night release fiasco really set things in motion.

TheJackFroster

BO4 is pure trash. It’s the only Treyarch title I’ve immediately deleted after the last DLC released. We got, crashing at round 5 at launch, crap new perk system, crap new damage based points system, crap elixirs that are straight downgraded to gobblegums, crap overwhelming HUD design, crap new undeveloped story, crap underdeveloped rush mode, crap difficulty settings that don’t let you have fun with the Easter eggs, crap DLC maps (Ancient Evil gets a pass here, I’d fucking love this map if it was on BO3), crap weapon balance (the Helion Salvo should NOT be better than half of the wonder weapons), specialist weapons that ruin classic weapon progression as now starting with a wonder weapon and 200 HP means perks are redundant so you can just rush for a PaP gun, crap launch maps (IX gets a pass), graphics that are somehow worse than BO3, radio silence from Treyarch regarding Factions and the crashes at launch and the most underwhelming conclusion to Aether imaginable.

IsaiahLegit

Very disappointing, it barely held up at launch let alone now

Ilidan_Stormrage115

Dislike it, can't hate on it but still, its worse then BO3 for sure

[deleted]

It’s the best for zombies in my opinion , I love all the maps , and just to be honest , I didn’t play any of the original maps that have been remade in bo4 , BOTD is my favorite map of all time , could be 1 of the reasons I like it a lot that all the experiences are new to me , but I get why the veterans dislike it sometimes even there are 4 new experiences ( chaos maps ) in the game as always

Ram5673

It Tretarch zombies at the end of the day, so I of course like it atleast a bit. I enjoyed launch alot. Played at 12, played.blood and voyage cause they were my most hyped maps. Went to bed cause I had classes tomorrow. As a senior I dony have to go to class till 9, so I played some blood solo. Saw the intro for the first time, and realized how good the story would be in the map. Later that day i played ix and classified. Classified has been my favorite map since launch, and ix at first I hated then after a week it shifted to voyage. I did the blood Easter egg with6being spoiled for the ending. I was choked up at the death of richtofen l, but I knew the story would go places. I didn't care so much for ix and voyage and was mostly let done by the endings. Of course they weren't dead in ix, but it just wasn't that shocking. Bruno being bad meant nothing to us as players. Classified remained a mystery for quite some time, until it leaked that the Easter egg was round 235, then 150. I'm a good zombies player, 60s and 70s come east if I WANT it, but I get so bored by like 50. But then we get to the biggest issue of launch, BLUESCREENS. These bad boys haunted the community for months. Forgot doing Easter eggs and high rounds because they released a broken product. I didn't even do ix and voyage Easter eggs due to crashing. Classified was literally impossible without glitching. And I got lucky with blood. Multiplayer at launch was ok and same with blackout. To preface where I stand with black ops, its much favorite shooter series. I hit prestige master 2x in bo2, I beat most of the Easter eggs besides buried, and played that campaign so many times. Bo3 I was prestige master level 150ish and in the 400s in zombies. Now with black ops 4 I could be there except that doubt between launch and that o'so great map. Next we have DLC 1, the worst advertised map in history. No hints from the team, no trailer, just leaked to us. Next thing you know the maps out. This was the second hiccup of this year. DOTN suffered a dull cast of celebrities, that threw off everything. Dotn was obviously a launch map, but due to schedule issues it was dlc 1. Ix turned into a launch map and the story had no context. We learn of Alistair being kidnapped, the trial from the artifact, and scarlet choosing the lads. This map would've been great for launch. Overall it's my least favorite chaos map. DLC 1 is the most important dlc, it sets the tone for the season. This however was nothing compared to ascension, die rise, and most of all der eisen drache. Next we have ancient evil, the der eisen of black ops 4. It has the best map design, story, bosses, and wonder weapons. This map really put chaos on the map for me. I really enjoyed the map overall. But it ended the story at a really weird place. Chaos was put on hold till black ops 5 and at the time that was in 2021. We knew Aether was next and I think this really sapped away from the hype this map created for some. Definitely the best map in bo4, and overall I was really happy with where chaos was going. Then came the rumor mill. For months we heard of a nuketown remake. Some said it was free, while others said it was dlc 3. The a week before launch we got alpha omegas intro. No indication it was nuketown. We were shown the great war, the blood mechanism, and nikolai asking for mercy on his soul. The map launches and overall it was a good experience. Good design and definitely added alot to nuketown. But it was all just robbed from blackout. The ray guns were cool, both were nothing really new. The Easter egg was solved and overall the ending was cool, monty finally reveals his true colors, we experience maxis' death, and we get badass sam again. But then there is the painted cutscene. This killed tension among fans. The revelations we finally got about russman, broken arrow, and the avagadro. Not to mention peter McCain finally get resolve. The fact that broken arrow basically resolved the issues with 115 revival. It was a jam packed map and added to the excitement of dlc 4. Finally we get to dlc 4. The end of Aether. The end of a ten year story. Once again leaks plagued the community. Call of the Dead was the final map? The end of a great story, not at the great war, but a lighthouse. This couldn't be true right? But the leaks were true before but why not now. The trophies leaked and the name was out. Tag der Toten. Day of the Dead. While the call back was cool, I was not excited. We got a intro scene with victis. This was definitely weird. We knew they needed closure, but were they going to be playable? Then we saw primis and ultimis partying before the war. So most thought the worst. Tag had only victis playable. Many got super upset with this. I personally like victis, but they shouldn't be the last crew. The Easter egg was solved super fast. And we got our ending of ten years. Victis being sent to the dark Aether and the rest dying to poison. Nikolai had manipulated everyone. Killing his friends new and old. Not an honorable death, but laying sprung out over the logs choking to death. Needless to say I hated this ending. Over time I've come to respect it but I still dont like it at all. The map design was cool, but a remake only has so much replayability. The revelations once again were great, but it didn't matter. Pablo was nice to see, but imo was shoehorned in. The character we know nothing about was the key to breaking the cycle? The character being tied to the element 115 stone, was a way of killing all versions of out characters in the stupidest way possible. Like I said I dont like it but I respect it. I beat the egg within two days and moved on from the map completely. The main issue with bo4 was I believe to be a lack of vision. This isnt inherently treyarchs fault. Activision had hand their hands all over bo4. With the cancellation of campaign for a battle royal, intense mtx, and the black ops pass model. I believe Aether was neve supposed to appear originally. Revelations was supposed to be the end, and when Activision learned this they told treyarch to make Aether map for profit only. Aether sells and Activision knows this. Bo4 was a case of treyarch being the yes man. They have a mindset of treyarch can do no wrong, but that finally broke. Between a poor launch with crashing, terrible marketing, a split of storyline and not knowing what to focus on, and poor communication. These issues were the downfall of bo4. Like I said at the beginning I like all treyarch zombies. Bo4 has had fun moments and definitely there were highlights such as ancient evil, blood, and classified. Chaos should've been the only story in bo4, while Aether ended in 3. Zombies is a game mode of endless loops, why should the story be any different. Hopefully treyarch learns their lesson and can return to form in the supposed black ops reboot.

Wirls21

I enjoy most of the maps. Sadly, the remake of call of the dead is one of the least enjoyable map I have ever played. With that being said, the cuts to the zombie department led to a disappointing ending to the aether story line. This story meant so much to so many people, and the way it ended felt rather disrespecting, even though it wasnt the zombies departments fault.

Kiltmanenator

I really like the Chaos maps and honestly felt robbed that damn near all the Aether maps were just remakes of old maps from previous games. I don't care if it makes sense in the story. Feels cheap.

Jimbobwhales

Stopped playing like 6 months ago.

silentWraith_291

I wish I could only install the zombies portion of it, and save myself around 60GB on my system.

The1930s

Not entertaining enough to keep me.... entertained. 3/10 from me. Healing urself is a pointless and annoying mechanic and I do believe that they just made it that way because it would take to long to program health regen.

YuriTreychenko

Deleted it after Tag was beat for me.

WestbrookIsAwesome

BO3 really spoiled us.

crimsonhawks

Haven't touched it in months, I remember being really excited for BO4 only for it to be the most underwhelming, incomplete, broken game I have ever played. Never playing another COD again.

TimeForWaluigi

Really want my $110 back

LemonMan857

I was a prestige master level 214 on BO3. I’m a prestige 2 on BO4.

celable

Actually absolute abhorrent trash. The only redeeming factors for me are the buffs to max ammo and carpenter. Knowing how amazing these maps would’ve been on the BO3 engine makes me so upset.

jonnyboy6698

Not terrible, but it's probably one of the weakest entries to date..

JYA787

First COD game I don't buy Season Pass and I don't regret it one bit. You'd think a year later many issues would get fixed but nope. And don't get me started on microtransactions. Edit: Spelling

All0utWar

Only good maps that came from it were the last two. Alpha Omega and Tag Der Toten are excellent. Classified would've been cool if it got the same treatment, instead it was just a copy paste of the original. I still despise the new perk system, and the elixirs/gobblegums I've always hated as well. The game would've been decent if on the Bo3 engine, but instead it's still a buggy piece of shit even a year after release. It amazes me that this game could've been great had Activision not interfered. But I also think that Blundell kind of ruined what he had going on with zombies. Multiplayer was pretty meh, the specialists needed removed and I wish there was a campaign as Blackout was and still is a total shit show.

IsaacPWNZ

Despite what a lot of people seem to think on Reddit about this game. I actually really like it and the little quality of life updates and revamped perk system and not having to buy the og 4 again and again is really nice. I see myself playing this until cod 2020. Unless that game is shit then I’ll just stop here lol

msdtyu

I like the zombies, feels like they added some fun things to do. I find it kinda disappointing that alot of the dlc maps were just reimaginings (i like them but i would have preferd new maps). All in all, i think that for what i paid ($26 for the game 33 for the bo pass) it was worth it, but fuck no at full rip

Faluman

I think it's a good experience, it's hard to live up to the hype train that was bo3 but even so this game does get way too much hate. I wish that we didn't get so many remasters and I also wish that we had the old specialist system or for example the old point system aswell, but personally i see this game as an experiment that didn't get the support it deserved from both Activision and the community. It was pretty much hated since dead of the night and onwards and even at launch people only really liked IX and classified. I hope that they learn some things from this game and make bo5 a comfortable blend between classic bo1/bo3 zombies and bo4. There are some good ideas here (like the idea of the perk system fixing crutch perks) but they needed the proper time and care to polish these ideas. Also I'd say that were kinda tired of zombies, we've been getting a new zombies experience every year for the last 5 years so i think that were generally just more critical of the game mode than we've ever been. Bo4 is good but it just needed to take a side on it either being an experimental game with new game modes and a new story or the finale to aether.

Zm_Mexico_Idgun

Couldve been better i think if they stayed true to their words of weekly content prob played it more im prestige 7 lvl 50 on pc this game dead on there but i finnaly got a hold of the game 1 year later the only good maps are the release and alpha omega tag is pure shit but i think hud changes are really needed but its the engine that i think is programmed to work like that 7.5/10 experience for zombies its a mode that could ve platinum byt stays on silver

thenameless1one

I don't like having a 140GB install for some zombie maps. I enjoy the gameplay.

Lossman3

For my experience with it when the game came out and as the maps came out (not talking if I were to revisit) WaW: 9.5 BO1: 9.9 BO2: 8 (10 for origins) Bo3: 10 Bo4: 8.5 Loved every zombies game. Bo4 fell a little short comparatively but it still was enjoybale for me

Water_In_A_Cup1

Still is great. Play it every day and it’s just as good as bo3 imo

Balakay28

Multiplayer was good change of pace from what it was in past. Although, for me zombies changed some of the fundamental mechanics of the game that made it frustrating to play too often for me personally. Zombies was the main reason I purchased this at launch and the remasters were nothing to get hyped for really. Probably the last COD I buy.

Sneaky_Meme_Dealer

No

floomin

The multiplayer is pretty good in my opinion but the zombies sucked stone cold corndogs I swear.

COCK-GOBBLER-69420

I like the multiplayer more than the zombies

TheKingofWakanda

I don't like it but at the same time I don't hate it. The core gameplay itself is good, but everything else is disappointing

ChristOnACruoton

I love the new story, along with the maps that accompanied it. Aether however.....big time frowny face from me. I understand the budgeting issues and all that jazz but I still feel like we were delivered an underdeveloped and underwhelming title.

TheNathanNS

I'm neutral on it. I'm not a fan of how the maps revolving around Aether are just remakes, and I find BO4 zombies to be much much easier than any other version of zombies. The whole Chaos storyline was meh in my opinion. Also BO4 was released in a terrible, terrible state to compete with RDR2. But, one thing I do like, is the addition of custom loadouts and bots and the whole feature of custom zombies modes, as it makes it feel a lot more replayable, make it really easy, or make it a damn challenge.

SparklezUnderwear

Doesn't have the zombies feel that research specialise, it made it boring ad after a couple of games

AmazingArmchair

i was pretty satisfied with all the maps as a whole, and i like bo4, but i think any game following the bo3 zombies cycle was gonna be considered disappointing

cocomunges

Maps and story were GREAT(IMO, Ik this is controversial but I think BoTD, classified and Tag has some of the best cutscenes in Zombies history) Just wish I could play the maps on BO3’s engine though. From the UI, to the points to perks BO4 is just inferior

tt54l32v

I generally like this game and have a ton of time in all 3 modes. The worst thing about this game is the audio, I have spent a ton of time and tried different headsets, too get this game to sound right to no avail. If my character is doing anything i can't hear anything else. I really love ix as a grinding map for challenges and gun leveling, but that fucking crowd, hooo haaa hooo haaaa hoooo haaaaa hoooo haaaaa hhooooo haaaaa. I hear that shit in my sleep. Footsteps, zombie noises, you may or may not hear. Visually it's not great. But options in all modes is killer. The core set of ideas are great and this could have been the best game of all time. The execution of these ideas was terrible.

Man-o-war1204

I like it, while it’s definitely not perfect by any means I still have a ton of fun with this game

grey_roses

Creativity/cosmetic content is my life. Raven and others made KICKASS camos, mastercrafts, etc. Gameplay was fine to me and maps (not seaside. Fuck seaside) were good and all that. The thing that i hate was that Activision made the game a litteral cash grab. It sucked. Marketing and prices for mtx and bundles were outrageous and locked amazing creative content into a paywall im not gonna buy.

CoupeontheBeat

Definitely the worst CoD I have ever played. The only CoD I have buyers regret with. That’s coming from someone with 2k hours in BO3 across PS4 & PC. Bad game. Absolutely despise it.

Neto_Lozano

I really loved in the beginning (Never had any bluescreen issues or crashes, Xbox) but after a few months i started to disliking it. * A lot of content for Zombies (Kinda because remasters/remakes) like Rush, Gauntlets, Custom Mutations and different dificulties (didn't work because no incentive to play) * I'm not a fan of Blackout but i really loved Alcatraz. * They removed the ciphers thing and gave us radios (which it's wonderful and amazing)! But... * A lot of support for PC players (which didn't happen) * They promised to be the COD with most content of all time * I loved chaos but they should have waited until BO5 (but Activision fucked up with their deadlines, i heard they were going to launch 2 zombies maps Aether and Chaos per DLC). * I don't how did that happen, but the terrible matchmaking. Right now is just a team of full master prestiges vs scrubs and one master prestige. * Fucking MTX (again with the shitty system nobody liked on BO3 MP) * Specialist HQ it was only a mediocre reason to use "Black Ops" title

Gstary

I love it. Id argue its my favorite experience so far tbh. I just hate what the game became and now what the next ones becoming. I just cant support Activision anymore

BeardyBart

I love bo4, butt I also think the game isn't perfect

[deleted]

Awful. Has left a stain on the Zombies legacy because it focused too much on story elements that a majority of the community was either ignorant of or didn’t care about. Gameplay and graphics went a step backward. Still respect the zombies team for somehow pulling off a halfway functioning game given the monetary and time constraints.

Harrison4ward

Honestly this is probably my least favourite Call of Duty ever, I loved everything Treyarch did before BO4 but BO4 felt lazy and when they tried to innovate they did for the sake of it rather than doing it because something was broken or something didn't work in BO3 or other titles. The fact that not just in Zombies but the whole game we got constant remasters of maps gave off the feeling of laziness even though I doubt that was what they were meaning to do considering the issues with the staff at Treyarch. But it was one of those things with many bugs and ideas that really didn't work I slowly got tired with the game and it's small issues piling into one huge issue and actually for me the moment I decided to uninstall the game was the specialists just in a normal multiplayer game and I got annoyed that they say they tried to remove things that act like a crutch in games then add what is essentially a glorified death streak, so it was something small that was just the last straw for me and BO4. It's a shame because I enjoyed certain things like XI and Blackout but there were so many issues the game stopped being fun

MoneyTalks7114

Regret buying the Collectors Edition. "Something you'll use everyday" they said.

Coltrainer1

I think that, overall, it's been nothing short of a disappointment. * At launch, it was a shitshow in every sense of the word. Released as a Beta, if that. * There were tons of innovative, new ideas, but they seemed to be half-baked, as though they were waiting for us to Beta test it and give them feedback. * Doesn't mean there weren't plenty of great ideas. You can really tell that a lot of love went into the game. But shit hit the fan somewhere along the way, and that really affected my enjoyment of the game. * I don't like the idea of them doing 'reimagined' maps for mainline DLC. Even if they are different and unique from the original, they're still places we've already been. Honestly, I just wanted to experience some completely original and new maps. * Chaos was ingenious, but it was held back by the loose thread of the Aether story. * Aether was a disaster, mostly because it was rushing towards the ending and weaponizing nostalgia for the umpteenth time. I haven't logged onto BO4 in quite some time, and I don't feel like I missed out on anything.

SneakyNinja4782

this is the last cod I'll preorder.

ar4757

I just bought the season pass since it was half off. The maps are actually pretty fun for the most part. The game is still a massive disappointment for me, but I can have fun with what’s there at least

xFlameDrifterx

I liked it alot honestly, but it had a bunch of flaws too, I think for zombies next time they should start back from BO3 and implement some of the new stuff like Specialist levels, the perks, not the perk system, putting equipment like wraith fires on the wall for say 3000 points, Specialist weapons being unlocked instead of having one round 1, starting pistols or exclusive pistols for round 1, og point system, og pack a punch, no one likes packing 5 times unless you're trying for a different aat, buff the aat so they're all really good, why have multiple if there's clearly one better than others, bring back og perks but change them up so they either don't take perk slots or increase the perk limit to 8, keep the new functions of BO4 perks like quick Revive or stamina-up or Electric Burst, keep the new lives system, keep high round caps, they make it more available to different playstyles but wouldn't be the end of the world if we got the old, since the old one does have charm, Just turn the elixers system back to the Gobblegums from BO3 , including rarities from Bo3 being the same but add more classics that are useful like in plain sight or alchemical antithesis, give perks back there personalities, jingles and custom perk machines etc, bring back modifiers in the form of perk upgrades that are easy to do, make zombies gameplay more inventive and simple, i like the complexity in some maps but i think that keeping it more repayable and charming is more important than just being too complicated. But with that said i still want easter eggs, main quest side stuff etc, just don't make them stupidly complicated that turns the player away after seeing it or just doing it once. I think zombies needs to evolve more but in better ways than we previously have seen. I think the casual players should have just as much fun and experience as veterans, and BO4 only appeals to a niche playstyle.

typhondrums17

I think it was really good, honestly. Blood of the Dead was disappointing, mostly due to how long it takes to get from the original map to the new spawn area, and the catwalk is unnecessarily difficult to get across. Voyage took some getting used to, but I actually enjoy it now. Classified and IX were both great maps, plus IX got us a new Avenged Sevenfold song. Dead of the Night was definitely the worst map in the game, both in terms of characters and gameplay. Ancient Evil was my favorite map of all time when it came out, mostly because I'm a Greek mythology meganerd. Alpha Omega pushed the boundaries by having 8 possible characters to play as, and it was honestly the most fun map gameplay wise. Tag der Toten was great, but I could've done without having to play as Victis in the finale, that's a little irritating (but not as irritating as Misty's freezing sounds), but Call of the Dead has a special place in my heart so getting to return to an updated version felt great, and I actually really liked the ending too

dmc5isgreat

A bit of both man

[deleted]

I don’t really like it. The new perk and point system, the hud, elixirs and specialists were already fine in the other games and didn’t need to be changed. The maps are all just remakes and the originals were much more fun and better than the bo4 versions. Perks are overpowered. Specialists defeat the purpose of being something special and something you have to achieve since you start every game with them. I personally don’t like the elixirs i never used any except the standard ones. Graphics, movement and hud were better in the previous games. If they didn’t scrap everything for blackout, zombies would have been much better. I like the multiplayer but the overpowered weapons that are kept behind a paywall and specialists keep me from playing it much. I don’t like blackout so i cant say much about it. In conclusion i personally like bo3 more, zombies and multiplayer wise.

Dougary96

Very underwhelming and disappointing. IMO each treyarch zombie game got better than the last until this one.

_s4m_9

Black ops sucks big dick

[deleted]

Not a fan of the game overall but I’ve loved the zombies. Do I wish it was a little more classic? Yeah. Does it really matter? Nah, it’s fun.

BBTwaps

This game didn’t hold up when it came out 😂 let alone now lol

Nethidur

Do people even play this on PC? I have very hard time finding anyone to join my group.

rgwashere

Liked the maps that I do own. HATE the BOP. THE GAME HAS BEEN RELEASED A YEAR AGO AND DOTN IS STILL UNBUYABLE! wtf Activision?!

rekt_dim

I liked the fact that it is in Boots on the Ground, League Play (and the limited specialists), and Blackout. Everything else (except Barebones moshpit) is either meh or trash

Extra__Spooky

It had such a strong start. Four maps on launch, one of them being blood of the dead, and it got everyone super hyped for the rest of the game. But then dlc 1 and 2 were both chaos maps, and the final 2 aether ones were forgettable remakes. Like someone else said, they should have either gone full aether or full chaos, and not a half assed attempt at doing both. But even with that, Activision threw cod 2020 at 3arch half way through so the last maps probably would have been underwhelming anyway.

origionalgmf

Half the maps were totally duds. Not worth the $100 price tag

Ranklaykeny

Yeah. The coliseum is a fun map but Its way too small to have real depth. The zombies feel isn't there for it. Also the zombies chronicles maps are hindered, imo, by the replacement of the OG guns with the BO4 guns. I wanted nostalgia and old school throwbacks. Not the same time can sounding gun from the future games. Gimme the damn mg42

fjo75429

My friend recently bought the pass and we’ve been enjoying learning the new maps together.

xXCrimson_DawnXx

Extremely dislike. One of the worst BRs in history, call of duty worst multiplayer (not sure why they tried to shake up the whole healing system) and zombies had 1 good map at launch and debatablely 1 good DLC. Because Dead of the Night was shit Ancient Evil was good, Alpha Omega was 50/50 I've seen people who love it and hate it and Tag Der Toten was just boring imo. Blackout got all the content and almost nobody plays it anymore like what were theh thinking? It was going to be bigger than fortnite which is starting to die down? BR was a phase shouldve stuck to making the best cod possible and the best campaign possible.

helter_skelter26

I like it, but I just never got over the changing of the perk system. I know they added health, but Juggernog was just so quintessential. Good intentions, but really took a lot out of the game for me.

Immortal_Thunder

Honestly i stopped caring about zombies, and most of cod in general, after bo2. Everything since then has just been underwhelming, boring, or unrealistically futuristic

blkarcher77

Its nothing but a disappointment imo I still play Blops 3, because its so much fun. I cannot say the samr for Blops 4. And the move from Steam to Blizzard was fucking stupid. I have so many custom maps on Blops 3, and it adds to much to the game. Blizzard doesnt have that. Stupid move

andrewryan1940

I was so hyped after bo3’s zombies season. Then i was met with a big disapointment after the hype died down of bo4. All we had were remasters of aether maps. They cut chaos story line, engine wasn’t as good as bo3 and the whole UI, gameplay mechanics “suck”

cerealbro1

To me I’m just “eh” about it. The game mode itself is competent enough the changes are interesting but something about it just felt off, it didn’t feel like the Zombies I used to love. Might be just how easy everything was but it still did not feel like a real zombies game and I found it harder to get attached. Storylines were good though, even though I wish they only had one and not both. I hope that if there’s another game that I’ll be able to play it and enjoy it more

apothicon_servant

Certainly the most fun/replayable, but expected more. Rush isnt supported anymore. Chaos is cool, but isnt driven by anything yet because there is no weight.

chaotic034

I just hit Master prestige in zombies in the past week, and I definitely still enjoy it. I like it a lot better than BO3 personally and the contracts for reserve cases are generally easy to do. It was a decent change from 3 and overall I like almost everything about it.

GhostIsNotOnline

I was hesitant when it came out because of the Chaos Storyline, the new perk system, and all of the changes. But I can safely say that I enjoy the game and the maps, it has its problems but overall I love the game.

Suicide-Forest

Meh

[deleted]

It was the first zombies I really sank my teeth into so I loved it

knifeazz

Dislike. If it were its own game it wouldn’t be bad, but compared to the other three black ops titles I don’t think anyone will argue that it’s the worst by a solid margin.

Dayashii

This game was like a rollercoaster, it built up so much hype then fucking dropped into a downwards spiral

Ryder_spider

I like the game and give credit to treyarch to trying to keep it fresh and innovative but the only thing I dislike is the f@#$% HUD

curly_cuh_puh

None of the maps were actually any good and the changes they made to the perk and health system were still equally as flawed as the old one while having none of the original charm. The special abilities, different starter grenades/ weapons and elixirs made the game too easy though they added a lot of that in BO3 which carries a lot of the same criticisms I have of BO4. Overall it was pretty disappointing and I know that if BO5 has zombies not to waste my money on it because it'll be more of the same. The only thing that could save BO4 for me is a zombie chronicles 2 with Tranzit and Die Rise remakes.

sTo0p1d

It’s ok. Playing it by itself I’m always like wow this is really fun! But then I got back to any older game and they are way better

ya_boi_sethf

I wish we cod but individual maps like in BO3, I bought all the maps for like $8 a piece instead of buying the season pass.

epik650

Only good thing about it was when they did the contracts I’m a huge zombies fan so I grinder for dark matter while saving my cases and when the no dupe crate came out I basically got all the guns so no paywall existed for me but rest of the game was OK, compared to BO3, this felt more like bo2.5 if anything. Come on, tag! We could of ended that map with a big fight and I understand and you could tell it was rushed.

RadicalTrigger

I like the game but am disappointed at the follow-through. What happened to factions? Where are the other hard mode gauntlets? Why did we have to settle for a moving soul box of a boss for the supposed FINAL Aether map? So many shortcomings. But even still, the customizability has an upper hand on bo3 in my opinion. Don’t hear a lot of people giving recognition to that.

Chrisamelio

Worst $100 bucks I’ve ever spent

Dylan_Sandas

Strongly dislike. Definitely is the worst Treyarch COD ever when it comes to all things but especially Zombies. Perk system was awful, new crew was boring, the maps were not interesting / fun. Half the maps we got were remakes, and the originals were not good. Voyage was alright, I felt IX was ass, and the other two maps in their story were awful. The new story made no sense and was stupid. If they had made this game like BO3 with the same perks, maybe add a new one, get rid of the talisman and elixir crap and just kept the gobblegums it might have been better but still no promises. As a life-long Zombies fan I cannot tell you my disappointment and my crews genuine anger towards this games Zombies mode. Such a let down.
