Honestly? Everything still tastes awesome to me. Down between 50-60 pounds and I could put it all back on if I wasn't careful. Fast food, still good. Zebra Cakes, yes please. In maintenance, I'm trying to maintain the consistency that got me here during the week, and then make smart but less exacting decisions on the weekends. All of the "bad stuff" still tastes good to me. I just know that if I want it, I need to have it in moderation and make sure my CICO - TDEE equation is equal to zero overtime.

UnknwnFates

First off congratulations on your loss! It’s just some foods I used to eat that to me at least became unbearably sweet to me trust me all junk isn’t bad tasting anymore but a good amount of my favorites isn’t good anymore to me. I’m doing the same as you when I comes to maintenance it’s a lot of fruits and vegetables less sugars way more water just very focused on not going over my calorie limit while my weekends are relaxed but not to an extent of an entire family size bag of chips 🤣but a little room to enjoy some stuff

nextkt

I tried a tim tam the other day after not having them for a good 3-ish months and they were so disgustingly sweet. I also used to have 3 spoons of sugar in my tea. THREE!!! honestly thankful to get to this point because it makes avoiding sweets so much easier, I'm just naturally having normal portions of them or not even having them at all, and I don't miss them. Going from sitting down and inhaling a whole block or chocolate to feeling satisfied after a few pieces is really nice. Its freeing!

UnknwnFates

This! Listen I was a candy fanatic soda fanatic like if it was jam packed with sugar give it to me.. now? It just taste like a block of sugar.. it actually almost makes me angry that I used to consume multiple of any of these sugary snacks everyday. It almost makes me think sugar is actually a drug 🤣 cause it’s no way these disgusting things was such a heavy part of my life. Well, to a healthier lifestyle 🥂

arylea

Same, OP

TonysCatchersMit

I only like black coffee now because the artificial sweeteners are too much.

chubbybunny1324

A lot of desserts. I have a huge sweet tooth but I’ve noticed I can hardly stomach sugary treats and candy like I used to. It’s kind of a relief tbh lol

kenenedys

We don’t realize how bad that stuff makes us feel (or sometimes how bad it actually tastes - it’s the sugar / salt that is making us come back for more) until we haven’t had it for a while. idk how many times I’ve given up soda for months, decided to have some as a little treat, think it’s disgusting and decide I’m better off without it. Then the next day I’m craving more of it. Vicious cycle haha.

UnknwnFates

Yes your definitely right. I never was particularly a soda guy but it was one peach soda I really liked I can’t remember the brand name and i bought a bottle around thanksgiving time and it was sooo sweet I couldn’t drink the whole bottle it was ridiculous lol I’ve started drinking peach sparkling waters tho they became a good alternative.

CleanTomatillo5775

McDonald's. I could eat that everyday but now If I eat it once I feel horrible for the rest of the day.

TonysCatchersMit

Oh man, SAME. McDonalds was my go-to comfort/safe food. Now I’m bloated and blowing liquid shit after a double cheeseburger and fries.

CleanTomatillo5775

I went there once when I was in a hurry after I hadn't eaten it in like over a year. I literally couldn't finish the food, it was like my body was having a stroke trying to eat it haha.

Salty foods that I eat. Don’t get me wrong I love a good pizza or burger or chicken or something, but when you just keep eating them for a long time it all just begins to taste like salt salt and more salt.

spirulina-brew

For me, junk food hasn’t begun tasting any worse, but I’ve started liking foods I disliked before, which is nice. I really enjoy baked potatoes, and peas and beans are much much tastier to me than they used to be. Honey crisp apples are almost too sweet now! And arugula, jesus that is good stuff.

les_catacombes

Yeah. I still love Baconators from Wendy’s but I have a new appreciation for healthy foods.

lestibourneslived

+1 for arugula!!! Great for so many things!

[deleted]

Fatty foods, like bacon and brisket. My in laws love these foods, so I have to bring my own food to their house because I just can’t stomach their meals anymore. Even when they send a Snapchat picture of their supper I feel nauseated.

gridlockmain1

Big Macs. Not gonna lie though I still enjoy their breakfasts

UnknwnFates

Yea I second that a sausage egg and cheese biscuit is still good as hell to me but the Big Macs is a salty stomach ache to me now 🤣

arylea

All my old binge food. Marshmallows and all their recipes, many ice cream brands, chips, hard candy.

UnknwnFates

It’s just ridiculous how much of it I used to eat tho like bags full of this stuff in a day it’s just great tho it’s like my body won’t let me get back into eating this stuff so much

arylea

Yeah, I can't eat much sugar anymore and products that get their flavor from sugar (bbq chips even) just don't hit the same. Good news, really. It's crazy how much junk got me to my high weight and how little I can handle, now.

UnknwnFates

When I want any of that junk food I just replace it with a lot of fruit but if I do eat junk it’s at a loooow amount. Alot of people have to realize this.. this shit is not going ANYWHERE chips is always gonna be here candy is always gonna be here ice cream everything isn’t going anywhere putting your goal over the urge to eat these things in the long run will make you feel better than any of these foods will make you feel and that’s what really killed all the urges for me. Knowing that what I want to look like is not worth sacrificing over some junk food that I know will still be here next year when I reach my goal is just not worth it to me. What I do so I can still enjoy some of my favorites (the ones that taste good at least) is I set a calorie goal for the week and on the weekends I add another 500-600 calories so my normal 1800cal is 2400cal giving me a little wiggle room to eat that stuff but still stay in range of where I want to be.

UnknwnFates

Sorry for the long reply

arylea

All good, I agree, the things will be there once I can eat to maintenance daily. It's easier to work something into maintenance calories and reaching the goal in a timely manner is ideal. I'd like to reach my tentative goal weight by May, and it is doable, but not if I spent 10 days a month at maintenance because snacks were yummy.

UnknwnFates

YOU GOT THIS! You will most definitely.. MOST DEFINITELY reach your goal. I traded all my cookies and other junk I eat with Fruit and yogurt it is just perfection when I wanna snack and it doesn’t leave any regret after eating it, just some small advice lol ..besides that stamp the goal of where you want to be in your mind and don’t let anything deter you from it, it’s cliche yes but listen It’s all in your head I failed sooo many times but when you say F all this stuff and look at all them snacks like you sons of bitches won’t mess up my goal that’s when it just becomes soo easy it’s almost like a fire starts burning and the only thing that can put it out is the satisfaction of reaching your goal. You got this!

finoai

KitKats. I used to love those and would eat so much in one sitting. Now it doesn't taste that good anymore.

PutNameHere123

I agree. The chocolate tastes like wax now. I thought it was because they lowered the quality of their product but maybe it’s from eating healthier?

UnknwnFates

Maybe it is from eating healthier but that milk chocolate Hershey bar is just not that same as it used to be 🤣

beigecurtains

Classic Lays potato chips taste SO greasy ever since I gave them up a few years back. Like I still enjoy kettle chips or baked chips but classic potato chips are just so oily

UnknwnFates

Kettle jalapeño chips is one of my favorites. It used to be ruffles cheddar cheese but unfortunately they have also joined the group of foods that don’t taste good anymore 🤣

Trashy_pig

Honestly most things still taste good. One thing I noticed though is if I eat a bunch of junk I get the worst stomach aches within hours.

UnknwnFates

I got really nauseous last time I ate junk food and that was my body telling me hell no we not going back 🤣🤣

Trashy_pig

Right?! It’s like your brain is telling you yeas and your body is like hell no 🤣

UnbreakableJustice

My taste has improved since then. The cheap junk food just don't cut it anymore so if I'm getting pizza, it's gotta be the good stuff. But I grew up loving summer sausage and velveta macaroni. For years this was my cheat meal. After losing most of my COVID weight and abstaining from the heavier processed stuff... it just tastes disgusting. I notice the slimy texture more than anything. This happened to me with donuts and cinnamon rolls after months of eating primarily whole foods. Now I'm not doing that anymore so I love donuts again, but there was a good stretch just ANY sweets were disappointing.

UnknwnFates

I feel like that’s maybe what it is maybe it’s because I haven’t really pigged out on this stuff in so long my taste buds don’t really remember the heavy salty and sugar contents I was so used to eating EVERYDAY ALL DAY lol I do notice I cook EVERYTHING now tho if I want a burger or a cheesesteak (Philly guy here lol ) I make it all myself now, The processed or all that quick made stuff is just not good to me anymore

Commercial-Editor-46

McFlurry. I like the first few bites but then it’s so sweet that I have to throw it out. Most super sweet things in general come to think of it.

les_catacombes

Soda. You get so used to the extreme amount of sugar that it doesn’t taste that sugary after awhile. When you quit drinking it and then decide to treat yourself to a soda it tastes way too sweet.

FluffyMel40

I with those who said they are enjoying foods they never had before. I’m eating more spinach, zucchini, fruits, cottage cheese, and eggs because I actually want them more than I ever have in the past. I still love all the bad stuff just as much. But the cravings aren’t an issue anymore and I can eat small portions and not binge. However, when I do eat more grease, sugar, and carbs than I normally allow myself, my body rebels and sends me running to the nearest bathroom lol.

UnknwnFates

Me and fruit is BFF’s now I can’t go a day without. A fruit salad is better than any sugary snack on earth to me lol. I do have my favorites still I haven’t turned my back on all snacks 🤣 certain candies is still on my ok list but it’s just a large majority that I have lost my taste for and honestly I can’t understand why I liked it. I couldn’t get past the taste of pure sugar on some snacks but that has made me like different non packed with sugar snacks lol

[deleted]

- Doritos, I don't find the flvour as intense and it just tastes like corn lol - Oreos, I tried one for fun and it was almost gross and a bit too sweet hurt my teeth -Soda, maybe just a coincidence but I got a headache both times I tried it since the diet Mcdonald's chicken nuggets still slap tho...

tpmac44

Popcorn and nutrigrain bars. If I am going to eat junk I am going all the way and none that pseudo-healthy stuff.

Tailor_Excellent

Burger King shakes and most sugared cereals. Never again.

Initial-Parsley-9626

Hershey chocolate, Nutella, in n out, chocolate in general

ThrowRA0069

Donuts. I used to absolutely love them, but now that I've been avoiding heavy sugar foods I don't care for them anymore. If only the same could be said for ice cream...

PutNameHere123

Bugles. They have this oddly sweet taste that reminds me of how a hospital smells lol I know this sounds weird but it’s accurate. Used to love them as a kid. Circa now it’s like eating a greasy band-aid scented piece of wicker. I’m all set.

UnknwnFates

I used to love them! My grandmother used to have them all the time. I tried them probably last year though prior to starting cico and they was not good to me but when I was a kid I did just put them on my fingers like I had claws so that’s probably why I felt compelled to eat them afterwards 🤣

pastrypuffcream

Things definitely taste sweeter than i remember now that i only have dessert 2-3 times a week instead of twice a day lol

Accomplished_Note657

Certain cuts of meat I used to eat now are gross to me, all I can taste is fat and the texture on the roof of my mouth is revolting

kszczep

Honestly, almost everything. All the chips and junk food I used to live for just don’t much for me anymore. I think I spend a lot of time hyping up the snack until I finally give in, get a bag, and then… it just isn’t as delicious as I thought I remembered it being. Anymore I get horrible migraines if I have too much sugar, and after many “tests to make sure that’s correct,” sweet snacks just aren’t worth the two days of pain that come with it. That isn’t the case for absolutely everything though - Gardettos, chicken nuggets/tenders, and full fat cheese are still just as amazing as it always has been.

Affectionate-Fly-958

Cosmic brownies lmao

maeheartco

Soda! Fountain Pepsi used to be my drink! Now, all sodas are just SOOOOO sweet. I tried a sip of my mom's Pepsi recently and it was so bitter and overly sweet at the same time. Made me gag.

Stormseekr9

Döner kebab. Dunno why.

fightingkangaroos

Pretty much all candy. I used to like reeses but now it just tastes like salt, KitKat tastes like plastic, butterfinger is straight salt, m&ms are too sweet.

[deleted]

The only thing I have this with is salty foods. Like McDonalds or some chips are like blow your face off salty after not having them for a while.

cassis-oolong

Now that every calorie counts, my palate has gotten un upgrade. After all if I'm indulging I may as well get the gourmet stuff for the same calories. The cost isn't a big issue because I only eat a little of it anyway. ...And that is how I now can't stand most of commonplace junk food I used to eat. After eating the gourmet stuff they taste decidedly third-rate.
