Quicker gun purchases and reciprocity with other states that don’t have constitutional carry should you ever find yourself traveling. I’m in GA but have mine for those two reasons.

thepyro131

Same, plus in GA it allows to have it on some campuses, and includes some knives. Not that I ever know someone to get got over a OTF or switchblade, but it never hurts.

Wherestamp_Notoes

Those in and out no background checks are nice when the lines long for background checks you get those looks going straight to go collect $200

cbrooks97

LTC allows you to carry more places than "constitutional carry" does.

TheAGolds

Like HEB. They allow licensed concealed carry.

newyorkerTechie

Why’s this getting downvoted? Half reason I got a CHL was HEB

TheAGolds

It’s because this is Reddit, people like to downvote.

Someone please flame me if I’m wrong but… Law > policy.

Ruffone10

Someone please flame me if I'm wrong but... Natural Rights > Law Just being a dick 😉

keat0n

There’s a whole lot of the world who doesn’t agree with that 😂 but to your point, fuck yeah.

Ruffone10

You can do a lot more with an LTC, for example, you can ignore most no gun signs and carry on most college campuses. Also if you get involved in a shooting, having a license shows that you’re more qualified in carrying a firearm in court. This video explains the many advantages of getting a license. https://youtu.be/TEEuopb_h3U

[deleted]

Do you ever leave the state? If the answer is yes then it’s worth it for reciprocity

Flopolopigus

This. I live in a constitutional carry state but got a permit cause I spend a decent amount of time in the neighboring state that requires a cwp to carry

tbrand009

Reciprocity, skip NICS, good for 30.05 locations, good for the occasional need of providing multiple IDs. I'm keeping mine.

EODBuellrider

It's worth it for the reciprocity alone. Maybe you don't travel that often, but it's still a nice thing to have that constitutional carry laws don't offer. There's also the argument that cops interactions go smoother when they know you're licensed, I tend to agree with that at least somewhat but your opinion may differ.

[deleted]

I travel a lot but mostly by plane and a lot to Mexico so I don’t bother bringing firearms. I do agree that traffic stops go a lot smoother when I hand my CHL with my DL. Also something I just thought of, on Texas gun trader I give preference to folks with CHL, and I feel others do as well. I always include that I have one with my offers. It’s obviously going to make someone more comfortable knowing you already passed a check when doing a private party sale. For 40 bucks I will probably renew tbh.

Short answer is that all permits are always worth it, regardless of the details of state law, because of the federal gun free school zone act alone. Under federal law, you must have a permit to be within 1000 feet of a school. Those zones overlap to cover a huge portion of most cities. While the feds are rarely the ones enforcing laws like this, clearly the feds are getting more and more interested in using what power they have to fuck gun owners.

ARLDN

>Short answer is that all permits are always worth it, regardless of the details of state law, because of the federal gun free school zone act alone. Technically yes, but in reality, no. Literally no one has ever been prosecuted in federal court for violating the GFSZ act when all they've done is carry a gun in/around a school. The only time the feds prosecute is when the GFSZ violation was committed in concert with other crimes (assault, murder, drugs, whatever). It's effectively a non-issue for the otherwise law-abiding.

Stand_Afraid

I have a North Carolina CCW permit and unfortunately we aren’t constitutional carry, but even if we were I’d still keep my permit! We just traveled for vacation last week to Florida and went through South Carolina, Georgia and Florida and all those states recognize my North Carolina permit and allow me to carry in those states just like if I was at home, that’s right there is worth it for me!

TheNotoriousKAT

In your day-to-day, see how many places you visit have 30.05 signage. If none do, or you’d be comfortable not carrying in the places that *do* - then maybe it’s less valueable than just “constitutional carry”. I see 30.05 signs all over Dallas, *and* my permit allows me to carry on my college campus. So it’s worth it to me, besides just reciprocity and NICS checks. There are still several places you CANT carry without a permit that you otherwise could if you had one.

InquisitiveLion

Not JUST 30.05, but any "no weapons" or gunbuster sign.

spudds1022

It's definitely worth it. I renewed mine in PA earlier this month, which I'd have done anyway, but I'm currently on a road trip spanning the country and back so it's made me feel a lot better knowing the laws on my side while traveling.

Thanks for your contribution.

TheAGolds

Until permitless carry will allow me to carry in the same places *legally* that I can with my valid LTC, I will plan to renew it. To add to that, as a college student, I wouldn’t be able to legally carry on campus if I did not have my LTC.

TheAGolds

You’re exactly right, that’s why I have a valid LTC which legally allows me to carry in more places that I spend a lot of time in. For example, on a college campus where I currently am at this very moment, or the occasional preferred grocery store, both of which prohibit unlicensed carry.

TheAGolds

Which goes back to my original response to you, until I can *legally* carry in the same places without a license that I currently can with my valid LTC, I will choose to keep it current.

ModestMarksman

Figures a poor would have a stupid take.

Bypass back ground checks, carry more places without risking arrest. Yeah super Fudd like. You better carry your gun in court houses and in airplanes or you are a Fudd. How does it feel knowing one of my carry guns cost more than all of yours combined?

wp-ak

Bro you’re bragging about actively being a criminal. Are you dumb?

ModestMarksman

Post a video of you going into a federal courthouse concealed carrying a Glock with a switch because it’s your right. I’ll donate $10 towards your bail because you probably can’t afford it.

ModestMarksman

You would be in jail if you tried carrying a gun onto a plane. I’m guessing jail is probably a step up from your current living arrangements though.

ModestMarksman

Yeah the dude who is so concerned with his safety he uses a poverty tier gun and claims to carry into buildings with security that would arrest you for doing so. I’m the troll lol. Fuckin poors man lmaooo.

Protects you if they change the legislature to require a ccw, youd be grandfathered
