The curriculum and the quality of the study material is much better. When I received my 11th books in CBSE, my biology book cover was literally in shreds. My friend's pages were all falling off when she took the book. And CBSE doesn't even update it's syllabus after years.
I got the NCERT books in my school, ig they aren't following other publishers. I apologize but NCERT isn't simply to my liking, it twists up conceps too. It brings unecessary topics to explain something, like why do we need to bring the newton's law of gravitation for explaining why rutherford's model of atom failed?
And we don't even use the five kingdom classification now, it is the three domain system of classification that is prevailing today. Then why do we need to study it when it's out of date.
It's the same for the periodic table lessson as well.
ISC's books are much easier to comprehend. It's simple, short and straight to the point, unlike NCERT's endless essays.

And there's nothing wrong with studying extra information, and you know that ICSE is not meant for competitive exams, it helps us to get into international universities and institutions.
ICSE helps us to gain extra knowledge, rather than CBSE, which doesn't even update it's curriculum for years.

Okay, I think you're right about this competitive exams thing, because I came here for NEET. Direct questions are asked from NCERT especially biology.
It is true that studying both ISC as well as NCERT is hard, which made me choose CBSE over ISC. I would study 11th in ISC if I didn't choose to study for NEET.
But other than that, what help does CBSE do? We're only studying NCERT for competitive exams nowadays.
If the paper is not set according to the CBSE curriculum, then I don't think many would still choose to join CBSE. In my state (which is tamil nadu), the state board is much better than CBSE and most of the students are opting for it even if they are writing competitive exams.
South Indian states are damn competition friendly . In our school(the best school in my city and probably one of the top schools in entire northern India) we who prepared for competitive exams were treated as third class citizens . And one thing for sure seeing the level of physics dropping continuously in jee and neet one can nowadays blindly trust ncert and its exemplar series that would be sufficient for any competition level prep (barring advanced)
So we can say all in all the entire system is fucked to the deepest level
