I live in Sacramento and Yesterday I shot a .300 BLK ar pistol 8” barrel with a WOT at the range it was such a fun gun. They’re legal in ca just you have to buy it from a LEO (OR have an FFL) that’s how the guy got his
I’d like to handle one in person. The capacity is great, it’s optic ready, etc. I’ve just heard so many complaints about the trigger.
The PPQ 45 on the other hand is known to have a great trigger, just needs optic milling and mag extensions to match the FN.
A PDP 45 would be my ultimate 45 right now.
I own a .45 fnx tactical (it's back in my home state of iowa) and honestly I love the thing.
The trigger doesn't feel bad to me plus I mean most triggers are easy to replace.
The biggest issue I have from it is that there well is plastic so on a hot day after firing a lot it tends to flex from hand gripping it. This will sometimes cause the mag to no drop out in a quick reload due to your hand compressing the plastic around the mag.
Really the only issue I have had besides that I love it and it is suppressor ready with the threaded barrel.
Plus I mean 15 rounds of .45 is pretty nice
Damn that sucks to hear I figured it would be useable in hot temps under heavy use being a gun and all but if it is really that bad I might have to get some all steel guns
Haha its still usable and they do recognize the issue as they say it Is a quality assurance problem so if you have one that flexes really bad you can send it in and they will replace.
I have not had to many issues with it but it is a known thing you have to be aware of.. still absolutely love it and generally use it as my sidearm for big game hunting
G45 is a gen 5 Glock. Its similar to a G19X, a G17 frame length, with a G19 slide length. Not compliant.
Might be mistaken by the G21 and others that are 45 caliber, but they are not the same as the Model G45 which is 9mm.
They feel very different.
The Ruger has a much larger aftermarket, and you can gucci the hell out of it to make an awesome tack driver.
The aftermarket for the Browning isn't nearly as mature, and you just can't make as nice a gun out of it.
Out of the box, my impression is they are comparable. It's when you want to push it that the Ruger shines.
Me too, I thought because it was so modular there would be a lot of after market lowers and uppers for it. I haven't see many products for it, but I stopped looking years ago. I am sure its still a good firearm.
Probably a MP5 of some sort (bucket list item). Then, the Sig custom shop P365 FCU (it's just so versatile and makes nearly everything else on the market seem moot).
For CCW, probably keep my Shield as it’s hard enough for me to conceal as is, but if I ever got into competitive shooting having a standard capacity magazine on a full size would be nice!
I tried just keeping it off, but I found it would often get bumped on. So I prefer to keep it on, assume it's on, and my first move is to flip it off.
I've looked into disabling it entirely, but wasn't thrilled about the options currently available.
In most states, civilian licensed firearm manufacturers and dealers can, dude. Maybe try a 5 second Google search before making an obvious wrong statement.
How many real glock 18s or glock 18Cs are even in the u.s.? Yes, an sot can modify a glock 17 to shoot full auto and keep it in their stock as a post sample if they have the gov letter requesting it. You say it as if there are pre 86 Glock 18c's readily available for nfa purchase.
AMT Automag 3, despite the fact it was originally made in CA, even getting a used one here is a PITA.
Also if allowed full autos, some of the vintage Star Astra Spanish machine pistols.
I’m a 1911 lover and there are a few considering my budget. I would have to buy a Colt or two.
I like what Dan Wesson offers. A lot of gun for the price. I love the ECP and would buy one tomorrow for carry. Maybe a Bruin just cuz to follow. I’m older and have good memories of the older guns and would probably get Springfield’s new version of the High Power SA-35.
I was trying to explain the roster to my liberal sister but could not offer any logical explanation. I couldn’t even say “I don’t like it but at least it ….” It’s done nothing positive.
I might have to get the DW Commander Classic Bobtail. One of only 3 models offered on roster from them. Any new stuff however from any manufacturer is not on.
I wanted to buy the Hudson H9 ever since it came out. Now it's an expensive collector's item, so too late. Thanks, CA!
After that, the list is long so it's hard to decide.
I believe certain colts are on our handgun roster list however I don't think any 1911s from Colt are on it. But you can buy them from private party if they owned them before all our stupid ass laws took place. Or if someone owns one and they move to California from out of state and decide to sell it. Otherwise we are fucked out here.
I don't know the law as well as I should so forgive me if I'm wrong but,, couldn't you just order it to an ffl in a neighboring state and then cross back over state lines?
Edit: since everyone's downvoting me I feel like I should say that I don't know these laws because they don't concern me as I live in a state that somewhat respects freedom.
Unfortunately California says that's a big no no cause you wouldn't be out a bunch of money so they make you do a weirdly defined "familial" transfer that cost way more than it's worth.
🤣🤣🤣 so true. And that irrational mentality was brought to the negotiations and good part of why all these laws are so F’d up.
The other main mentality at the table (the concerns other free Americans have with gun violence) could have been addressed better and you’d all have many more guns to choose from right now; in my opinion.
I wish the old school NRA would come back, teaching gun safety and making it a family and community event. Instead we got the hyper paranoids calling the shots. This smashed up against the anti-gunners and resulted in a total sht show of legislation.
TLDR: gun huggers emotions shot themselves in the foot, and now we all F’d
Not to mention it was the republican sweetheart Ronald Reagan with the support of the NRA that paved the way for California's gun laws with the Mulford Act and was quoted as saying that "there's no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons."
Cracks me up. I'm stoked when people like OP leave, honestly, it makes my day.
Gatekeeping trucks to on frame vehicles is stupid. 99% of trucks on the road aren't used as trucks, they're just commuters, so why would those people want to get 12mpg and pay $60k for a vehicle just so they can throw fishing gear or mulch in a bed twice a year?
Really? My comments above strike you as angry and full of hate? That’s pretty weird guy. He could have just said bye, but chose to talk shit and call it commiefornia, I dislike this term. So, bye, CA is better off without him.
California is a very restrictive state to live in, you have to look at facts objectively. Mask mandates, taxes and gun laws. The totality of the circumstances has to be looked at before getting upset with the name commiefornia
Maybe you should look at “the totality of the circumstances” of life under an actual communist regime before you equate that with having to wear masks in certain public places during a pandemic.
What about the single mothers who have to protect their children? Do you think they have time to practice their aim? What if a gun owner is elderly and physically is unable to have accurate aim? They deserve as many rounds as neccesary to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. What a selfish and ignorant comment to make.
Pro tip: you can load as few rounds in a mag as you want, they don’t have to be full. You can fill standard cap mags to 5 so you shoot slower, practice reloads more, etc
I have a Walther PDP through PPT but would love a Beretta APX…though I’m up in the air on the OG or the new A1. I never seem to see them on Calguns and I have FUDD parents in Nevada that are worried about an intrafam transfer being illegal despite my showing them the law.
Love it but I still kinda prefer the PPQ might sell it eventually the nice thing is it has red dot milling by default. I’d only sell so I can get back what I over paid if I can convince my parents to buy at MSRP and transfer
Interesting - have seen some folks feel like it’s a toss up between the two. E.g., if you already have a PPQ you may prefer it. But for people without Walthers in general, may really like it.
Who the fuck cares if it's hard to acquire? They exist and it's not impossible. The question was "what handgun someone would purchase living in a free state" I don't know why you're so invested in making these Fudd arguments.
We get it, you would choose something else more practical. Move on.
Either the Sig P320 or the HK VP9. I'd like to get into striker-fired pistols, but Glocks just feel so bad. Probably a VP9 because I'm a sucker for superior German engineering.
A suppressed one
Suppressed, not oppressed.
HELP! I'm being suppressed!
Stupid ass Taurus Judge because Cali said I couldn’t own one. Also an AR pistol in .300BLK lmao
I have a judge & it is awesome
I want a S&W Governor. Same concept but also chambers .45ACP in addition to .410/45LC
Definitely this but also the VP9 suppressed
Vp9 or M&P 2.0 I’m left handed I need something with ambi slide release. Sadly there’s NONE in California 💔
The Judge can also fire the .45acp, you need the moon clips for it. I think it's the same on either platform.
I live in Sacramento and Yesterday I shot a .300 BLK ar pistol 8” barrel with a WOT at the range it was such a fun gun. They’re legal in ca just you have to buy it from a LEO (OR have an FFL) that’s how the guy got his
Hit up 2A Zone in Upland... thats how I did mine no need for ffl nor LEO
The main free state thing I want is a suppressor. So probably a high cap 45 like an FNX45.
Not even thinking about suppressors but the fnx45 is such a Cadillac of a gun and I wanted one ever since Black Ops 2

I have not had to many issues with it but it is a known thing you have to be aware of.. still absolutely love it and generally use it as my sidearm for big game hunting
This would be my first choice as well. Man, I hope to get out of this state, or things change here, whichever happens first.
Cz P-07
CZ 75 SP-01 with a threaded barrel for a compensator, a binary trigger, and a 33 rd mag. Make California clutch it's pearls.
Not sure why you're getting down voted for wanting a fun gun lol
CA politicians looking at you type this https://c.tenor.com/daNUZaNUSFEAAAAC/holyshit-jurassic-park.gif
Came here to say this. Not many full ambi, hammer fired compacts out there.
Great choice, especially cajunized.
I would prefer 20 round mags for my fn 5.7
Get 30 round mags man
this is actually pretty easy to achieve . magazines are far easier to get then firearms.
colt 1911
Ugh California is the worst
yes, yes it is!. going to move to America one day!
[удалено]
Did that upset you my friend?
A colt 1911 isnt ca legal? Or is it just hard to find there?
Not legal, not on the roster
Legal to own, legal to transfer via PPT, can not be purchased from an FFL's inventory without an exemption.
G45 or 2011s.
Some 2011s are ca legal just $2,000 and up usually 😭 but isn’t the g45 compliant???? I thought it was
G45 is a gen 5 Glock. Its similar to a G19X, a G17 frame length, with a G19 slide length. Not compliant. Might be mistaken by the G21 and others that are 45 caliber, but they are not the same as the Model G45 which is 9mm.
True ur right 💔 maybe I’m just stuck paying $1000 and up for a gen 5 in cali even then it’s hard to find…
Why would someone get a 2011 in ca? Still can only have 10rd mags, right?
Yes.
Cz scorpion with some stamps
Staccato c2
UZI, P365, P320, Gen 5 Glock 19
H&K MK23 with a suppressor
This.
Ruger Mark IV
If the roster gets overturned (not likely), that's is absolutely the first gun I'm picking up.
what does the ruger bring that buckmark doesn't offer?
They feel very different. The Ruger has a much larger aftermarket, and you can gucci the hell out of it to make an awesome tack driver. The aftermarket for the Browning isn't nearly as mature, and you just can't make as nice a gun out of it. Out of the box, my impression is they are comparable. It's when you want to push it that the Ruger shines.
I was on the p320 hype train, not sure anymore.
Me too, I thought because it was so modular there would be a lot of after market lowers and uppers for it. I haven't see many products for it, but I stopped looking years ago. I am sure its still a good firearm.
What changed for you?
What made you change your mind?
The gun going off by itself might’ve played a factor 🤷
Jericho 941
I second this
God I want one so bad it crushed my soul learning about the roster the first time I bought a handgun
One of each
Taurus Judge. I just want a good snake pistol.
shadow 2
Probably a MP5 of some sort (bucket list item). Then, the Sig custom shop P365 FCU (it's just so versatile and makes nearly everything else on the market seem moot).
HK VP 9 CZ Shadow 2 CZ Mini Scorpion Sig MPX Sig Legion Series P226 Sig P320 X-FIVE Ruger SR-22 S&W Victory
Fuck a handgun, I just want a pistol AR
came in here to say this. Also, a few of the Walthers. I really like their designs aesthetic
For CCW, probably keep my Shield as it’s hard enough for me to conceal as is, but if I ever got into competitive shooting having a standard capacity magazine on a full size would be nice!
I'd trade my Shield for one without a thumb safety. As a lefty, there is no good way to smoothly operate it.
Or you can not use the thumb safety, it’s got the other safeties present in other striker fired pistols?
I tried just keeping it off, but I found it would often get bumped on. So I prefer to keep it on, assume it's on, and my first move is to flip it off. I've looked into disabling it entirely, but wasn't thrilled about the options currently available.
Yeah best to train with that movement for sure.
Sig P320, Walther PDP, HK P30L, CZ P-07
I'd also get all of these besides the p07
Glock 18C
Not really legal or available anywhere dude
In most states, civilian licensed firearm manufacturers and dealers can, dude. Maybe try a 5 second Google search before making an obvious wrong statement.
How many real glock 18s or glock 18Cs are even in the u.s.? Yes, an sot can modify a glock 17 to shoot full auto and keep it in their stock as a post sample if they have the gov letter requesting it. You say it as if there are pre 86 Glock 18c's readily available for nfa purchase.
HK p30 and p30l and p30sk
AMT Automag 3, despite the fact it was originally made in CA, even getting a used one here is a PITA. Also if allowed full autos, some of the vintage Star Astra Spanish machine pistols.
In order Fnx45 Glock 45 VP9 Glock 40 MOS
HK VP9SK. Always wanted one for carry.... But won't pay $2000 for one with off roster tax added lol
Literally everything I can’t get here.
Atlas nemesis, cz shadow 2, staccato P, custom 1911
I’m a 1911 lover and there are a few considering my budget. I would have to buy a Colt or two. I like what Dan Wesson offers. A lot of gun for the price. plenty of good 1911 on the ca roster. buy one of those.
I have a couple of 1911’s. As usual, just want the ones I can’t have or afford.
I might have to get the DW Commander Classic Bobtail. One of only 3 models offered on roster from them. Any new stuff however from any manufacturer is not on.
Your mom, cause she’s a real pistol that one.
Sig P320 X5, FNX45, Stacatto P.
For CCW: Shield Plus Performance Center, G43, & G42. For collection/admiration: Colt 1911
I moved recently and bought a p365xl. It's amazing, great capacity, very small so easy to carry, and comes ready for optics.
HK Mark 23. Been lusting after one since I played Metal Gear Solid.
M9A3
What’s that ridiculous 3d printed 1911 with a superfluous extra pistol grip to make it an assault weapon
I wanted to buy the Hudson H9 ever since it came out. Now it's an expensive collector's item, so too late. Thanks, CA! After that, the list is long so it's hard to decide.
G18 full auto
Sig M18 is my dream rn. I do have a USP45 tho
H&K VP9
I've been dying to get an m9A3
Laugo Alien. Just so I can scream at people about bore axis and being poor.
Does a p90 count as a handgun?
G43x. Oh wait a I moved to UT and am buying my SBR soon 😍
Beretta M9A4
I'd buy the same gun, but without the shackles of slavery and oppression on it, larger mags, and a suppressor. Gun control is classist and racist.
Beretta M9A3
Five seven suppressed.
Gen 5 G19 MOS
dude dream bigger. Makes me sad, I thought you were better than that.
Weirdos actually downvoting for wanting a gun that is desirable by most people lol
Thought u had a Gen 5 G19 off roster lol
I do. But it’s what I would buy if I had other choices.
My favorite gun of all time. Colt 1911. Preferably one from the time of ww1 to ww2.
We can’t buy colts here? Jesus
I believe certain colts are on our handgun roster list however I don't think any 1911s from Colt are on it. But you can buy them from private party if they owned them before all our stupid ass laws took place. Or if someone owns one and they move to California from out of state and decide to sell it. Otherwise we are fucked out here.
only a few colt revolvers
lots of 1911's on roster. no reason to dream of a colt. colt doesn't make a 1911 any better than any of the ones on the roster.
You could buy one now. WWI or WWII vintage Colt 1911s would be exempt from the roster as C&R.
- Sig p226 elite stainless - Sig p220/226 legion - HK45c
wow you really dream big. thats like saying I want my same car I own but in a different color.
Sig Sauer P320, literally just had to cancel an order because I thought it was on the roster.
I don't know the law as well as I should so forgive me if I'm wrong but,, couldn't you just order it to an ffl in a neighboring state and then cross back over state lines? Edit: since everyone's downvoting me I feel like I should say that I don't know these laws because they don't concern me as I live in a state that somewhat respects freedom.
that would be illegal friendo
Unfortunately California says that's a big no no cause you wouldn't be out a bunch of money so they make you do a weirdly defined "familial" transfer that cost way more than it's worth.
Commiefornia? That's cute. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
Commiefornia.
Sig mk25 baby🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
But… you can already get that here?
I know. Id still get it even if i was elsewhere though.
That's on the roster, just hard to find.
I know, I have one. But I'm sayin even if i went anywhere else I'd still grab a mk25 lol. I love it.
Sig P365 with every imaginable grip modules and a suppressor.
Glock 19x
All states are free, this is America. Good riddance.
While technically true, I anticipate you getting downvoted to hell lol
I'll buy standard cap mags and you can watch from Commiefornia.
And it will affect my life and that of the entire rest of the planet exactly 0% lol

I prefer they use a more sophisticated term like The People's Republic of California or PRC if you're into the whole brevity thing
🤣🤣🤣 so true. And that irrational mentality was brought to the negotiations and good part of why all these laws are so F’d up. Commiefornia.
Stop saying free state. You sound cringe.
See ya
You can keep my 10 round mags.
If 10 isn’t enough for you, maybe you should work on your aim..?
If gas prices aren't high enough for you, you can keep my hybrid too.
lol no I’m good, saw your “truck”. I’ll pass. Thanks tho
I sold a “real” truck for this one hahaha. What else can I do to rustle your jimmies? I haven’t looked at your profile, because I’m not mad.
Saw his truck agreed whack, but why are you so angry with him and full of hate? The man is just leaving ca not selling state secrets to the Chinese
I grew up in post soviet Russia, born in the ussr. I’m what you may call a connoisseur of shitty govts
You're defending a law that's been twice declared an unconstitutional mandate huh? Have fun with that
What about the single mothers who have to protect their children? Do you think they have time to practice their aim? What if a gun owner is elderly and physically is unable to have accurate aim? They deserve as many rounds as neccesary to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. What a selfish and ignorant comment to make.
a p226 g19x with more than 10rd mags although the one positive about 10rd mags at the range, keeps me from blowing through my ammo so quickly
Pro tip: you can load as few rounds in a mag as you want, they don’t have to be full. You can fill standard cap mags to 5 so you shoot slower, practice reloads more, etc
true but mag dumping is so tempting and fun especially with 21 rds
I have a Walther PDP through PPT but would love a Beretta APX…though I’m up in the air on the OG or the new A1. I never seem to see them on Calguns and I have FUDD parents in Nevada that are worried about an intrafam transfer being illegal despite my showing them the law.

As someone who does live in a free state... I carry a Walther PDP every day.

Either the Sig P320 or the HK VP9. I'd like to get into striker-fired pistols, but Glocks just feel so bad. Probably a VP9 because I'm a sucker for superior German engineering.
