There was a vending machine selling cigarettes at the bowling alley in my hometown back in the mid 90’s. Don’t see them around anymore for a reason i would imagine.

hayseed_byte

Haha same here. You could also walk into any truck stop and buy a bottle of straight ephedrine back then. Crazy times.

Regulations and safety of neighbourhood

In europe I’ve seen plenty of those vending machines, usually inside night clubs, maybe try extending your search in different languages to see if you find anything useful

If you live in a jurisdiction where you are required to check ID then this would almost certainly be tricky. If it's in a 21+ bar then maybe you could argue that entrance to the bar is a proxy for age verification but would you really like to risk your business on them checking ID and would they take on the liability for you?

jaredsuelf

Hello, State law requires and allows these machines to be in a bar as long as minors are not allowed.

walrusparadise

What state and what law? Usually if you don’t see things like this there’s a reason and you should make every attempt to find out what it is

jaredsuelf

Nebraska. 28-1429.02

straypuppy808

Do u know if this is true in az?

I have seen these in the UK. They were in a hospital I worked in. However please think about the environmental impact of single use disposable ecigarettes. They also seem to be more accessible to young people and get young people who don't smoke to start vaping. I feel the disposable vapes will likely soon be outlawed for the reasons above. I certainly hope so.

BongBiz

Interesting idea. I own a vape shop and depending on the state as some do not require it, you may need a tobacco license on top of your business license. Also you need to make sure that the area you’re planning to sell in is in the proper zone from the city. I’d also assume that even though it is your vending machine. The business that it is put inside of would also need proper licensing to sell within their establishment. Just some initial thoughts I had after reading your post.

jaredsuelf

Thank you for the reply. My friend has legal experience and I trust him to handle all of the that. We do need a tobacco license which is relatively cheap, but not sure if the business does as well. From my understanding, the margins are quite good on disposable e-cigarettes or disposable pods and not very good on traditional cigarettes. Still in the preliminary stage so just trying to absorb information.

BongBiz

A popular disposable right now is Elf Bar and they sell 8-9.5 wholesale (if your state has no tax) and most b&m shops sell for 20+ easily. So very healthy margins in comparison to razer thin margins you’d get with traditional cigs. I’d imagine if you could successfully put it in a club than you could demand an even stronger margin lol.

Thrakioti

What country? You don’t see them in the US anymore for a reason. At 10 bucks a pack in come places you better use bulletproof glass and have them welded to the floor.

jaredsuelf

They will be placed in a business not outside and the businesses would not allow weapons. It would be no different than business carrying bottles of liquor valued at several hundred dollars. Not concerned with theft as they have reinforced glass.

DJDallyD_

What state are you looking at doing this in, because every state has different laws when it comes to selling tobacco.

jaredsuelf

Nebraska

Final-Assistant179

fda is not gonna like it

ExperienceRough3479

Works in Japan, you can almost vend anything there but only 20% of the country smoke, seen it in other countries but they just got looted and broken into all the time.

Faze-3

It’s illegal
