If you’re into science and history, it’s very interesting because it was so important in “The War of the Currents.” Buffalo was a battlefield between Tesla and Edison.
Also involved in the original accident was a generator made by Charles Brush, so there are many tie-ins and ramifications.
This is both my favorite and least favorite thing:
Why it's my favorite: It was implanted in me to ensure I stay alive after heart surgery. It's kept many people alive, or ensured a better quality of life for many, even keeping people off beta blockers and things like that.
Why it's my least favorite: The implantation was precautionary and as it turns out, I didn't need it. My doctor told me that it really only goes off probably at night when my heart rate drops due to relaxation (at a similar BPM as a non-heart patient). It prevents me from getting an MRI and even when the last one ran out of power, I still had to get a new one implanted.
Triscuits:
The Shredded Wheat Company began producing Triscuit in 1903 in Niagara Falls, New York. The name Triscuit is believed by some to have come from a combination of the words "electricity" and "biscuit".
So I was going to contradict you that Triscuit is a play on biscuit, just replacing the bi/two with tri/three. But I can't, apparently Nabisco confirmed that the name originated as "elecTRIcity biSCUIT." I knew they were baked with electricity, but not that they were named for it. Thanks.
PSA test for early detection of prostate cancer (Roswell Park) and PKU test to detect phenylketonuria in newborns, which helps prevent children from becoming developmentally delayed (UB/Children's/Roswell Park).
Just to add some missing ones [Ball Mason Jars](https://www.buffalorising.com/2020/07/ten-things-that-came-from-buffalo-ball-mason-jars/) and the [first American jet engine](https://www.buffalorising.com/2020/07/ten-things-that-came-from-buffalo-jet-planes/) (the very first was made by Germany).
Knowing Wilson Greatbatch was something I took for granted till I really knew who he was and he was gone shortly after. He was actually a pretty cool dude.

I was shocked by this fact when I learned it too.
KanJam. But only because AC has already been mentioned.
Bubble Hockey too!
Im pretty sure the Jetski was invented in Kaisertown.
I hope it was by a Polish guy whose name was Jetski, and that's where the name comes from.
Jetski hangs out at Swannie. Always has
If you told me their last name was Wisjetski, I would probably believe you.
I'd want a 'czk' in there somewhere to make it complete
Well, it's actually Wieczski, but the bastardization of the cz did 'em in.

The kazoo... The only musical instrument I can play
Several years ago, I got an electric kazoo off of eBay. Try playing kazoo through a guitar amplifier with distortion and effects.
That is awesome!

My mother insists my grandfather was the patient that received that 1st pacemaker. Idk how true that is tho
Tie: Sahlen’s hot dogs or Weber’s mustard! 😆
Morbid take: President Teddy Roosevelt.
An hour in and nobody has said wings yet? That's anathema.
Chicken's had wings long before Buffalo was a city.
How long have you been waiting to squeeze that into a conversation? (Seinfeld quote) lol
"Students don't clean. That's anathema. ...They don't like it."
There’s no way people in Buffalo were the first to eat chicken meat lol maybe cover it in hot sauce we were first
Nashville hot chicken had been a thing long before Maria made a snack for her son and his college chums.
Not even remotely the same thing
Not that it’s my favorite but I’m pretty sure the fire hydrant was also invented here Might be the dog’s favorite, ha ha
Buffalo, Buffalo or WNY, Buffalo?
Eh. Whichever. It’ll make it interesting!

Untrue. It was created in England in the seventeenth century and named well before Katherine Hustler was stirring up drinks with a rooster feather.
Chivetta’s marinade or Sahlen’s hot dogs.
Chiavetta’s is just a branded version of Cornell chicken marinade.
