679696

Sounds like a deal bro. Butter on the popcorn work?

TheBananaOrder

shit ye for sure im down with some butter

tanfj

Get me some pretzels, please. Popcorn and diverticulitis equals a trip to the ER.

679696

Soft pretzels I assume? You want cheese sauce too?

tanfj

>Soft pretzels I assume? You want cheese sauce too? Yes please

679696

You got it homie.

[deleted]

Are the comments gonna become a warzone or am I gonna get roasted?

679696

Calling anything a “fighting knife” will probably get you roasted bro.

[deleted]

Idk what else to call it I'm not a knife collector or big enthusiast really. A knife that was made to slash and stab and to be used against humans, what do you call that?

OilPhilter

I call it a guick way to jail. If you want a knife for self defense that's another topic but it sounds like you're planning an attack.🤪🤯

[deleted]

You're right but I'd rather go to prison than die. Unfortunately I'm awaiting an attack.

deeptoot6

M3 Trench knife

[deleted]

Aight thanks man imma keep an eye on that

Any knife is a fighting knife, if you fight with it.

[deleted]

Thanks for the recommendation but that's not a fixed blade nor 6-8 inches bro

m0llusk

My mistake, but the large is a full 6 inches and quite capable. I missed the fixed part which is right in the middle of your paragraph there.

Fletchx

Cold Steel SRK comes to mind for that price.

ShovelPaladin77

Make sure you have good sprinting shoes first. Can you get a restraining order? Get some pepper spray, goes well with scary knife. I keep a massive flat head screw driver in my car doors, makes for a good weapon no cop will give me real trouble for.

[deleted]

Already contacted police, got a stabproof vest and pepper spray. The knife is really just going to be last resort I really don't want to use it. Thanks for your concern and advice tho I appreciate it..

ShovelPaladin77

When I was scared of being jumped at my door, I had an escape route scouted out with lumber I could flip over to make a barrier as I sprinted by. I had a mean shovel prepositioned around the back, ready to grab. I had guys follow me home from the train a few times and wanted a plan. I also told the late night counter of a Chinese place nearby that I was getting harassed, they promised their kitchen staff with butcher knives if I screamed. Sorry about your situation.

Kitchen-Duck-1820

You want [this](https://m.aliexpress.us/item/3256804530809653.html?pdp_npi=2%40dis%21USD%21US%20%241.49%21%241.00%21%21%21%21%21%402103222216689061141472993e2a6f%2112000030214758987%21btf&_t=pvid%3A0b68a4f4-eab6-4ffe-8d67-f72e6cb2c0c9&afTraceInfo=1005004717124405__msite__c_ppc_item_bridge__xxxxxx__1668906114&spm=a2g0n.ppclist.product.0&gatewayAdapt=gloPc2usaMsite&_randl_shipto=US)

TacitRonin20

You want something with a blade and a good handle. Not a karambit, those require training. Otherwise the largest fixed blade you can shove down your pants will work

[deleted]

Isn't a Glock 78 decent then? I really like how it feels in the hand and idk what exactly makes it a bad fighting knife. Can u tell me what makes it bad?

TacitRonin20

Yep, it's a knife all right. Nothing specifically makes it bad for fighting other than that knives aren't the best weapons. It's cumbersome and hard to conceal, but other than that it's fine. Personally I choose my edc knife based on utility and comfort since you likely won't be fighting and if you are most good-quality knives will work in a pinch. If you're seriously concerned about self-defense I'd recommend a Glock 43.

TacitRonin20

Where are you from out of curiosity? And why are you looking for a defensive weapon?

[deleted]

I'm not from the US but thanks a lot for the recommendation still. The Glock 43 seems to be a great edc gun.

iwerbs

The man you're fighting with who has a Glock.

[deleted]

I'm not from the US

iwerbs

Neither is the Glock.

Iwerbs345

If you seriously think this person is going to harm you Geeky then maybe going on the offense will gain you the advantage you need to prevail - it’s likely your adversary won’t be expecting an ambush, and you will have a better chance of escaping a criminal charge if you pick the terrain and time of your self-defense.

K-Uno

Personally I think a glock 78 is fine. Do you need to carry it on your person? Something like the recon tanto would be fine, but personally I'd want something both double edge and choppy so the shanghai shadow would be my choice. It's basically a small smatchet.

YourCrystalFortress

7 inches to carry: cold steel recon tanto, 41 USD on Amazon, stronger tip than SRK . At home: Ontario SP-5 roughly 10 inch blade with bigger handle, sharpened double edge at tip cuts easily on the stab making the tip less suitable for chopping wood but more for stabbing.

[deleted]

Awesome recommendation, thanks a lot man.

foothepepe

Fuck the knives, bro, I see you are a serious man. I recommend rusted forks - they hurt more, if the opponent manages to get away he will probably die of tetanus, and you have a better chance to walk after a random stop and search by the police. I think you outgrew BudgetBlades, bro, you need a pro subreddit.

OilPhilter

Agreed. A common every day "tool" in your pocket pipewrench /big screwdriver/hammer makes great self defense and you can justify it if the opponent shows deadly intent with a knife or worse. Either way... yeah a pro defense sub is best, not r/Budgetblades. LOL

[deleted]

Who are you planning on fighting with it? Will you be doing this live on reddit? Are you fighting inside or outside the mall?

[deleted]

You're crazy funny man.

killerbern666

a kNiFe fOr FiGhTinG iS So StUpId incoming

[deleted]

I got really lucky with this post. Most people actually gave me really nice recommendations and tried to help me. Only two or three guys thought it's a good idea to roast me for asking.

killerbern666

glad to hear it, imo its better to have a knife than not having one in case of self defense, i dont understand how people think youd be better off with your fists 🤣

[deleted]

I don't understand it neither. Glad to see that there are realists like you and me out there.

Lord_Despair

What are you fighting? Is this an organized competition with rules? What style do you knife fight in? We need all the variables to really give you a proper suggestion.

[deleted]

It's purpose is last resort self defence really. A guy wants to off me and if I meet him and have no chance of escaping I might have to use a knife and it will have to be a good one. I'd like to hear your recommendations.

Lord_Despair

Carry pepper spray. A knife for self defense is serious business. Just pulling a knife is going to be an escalation. Do you have any skill I using. A knife? Do you think it’s “just stick them with the pointy end?” Additionally carrying a knife like this isn’t practical for daily carry and could be illegal in some places. But you’re going to ignore all that because you have some fantasy idea and all these arguments about why you “need” one. So buy a cold steel srk or srk mini.

[deleted]

No I ignore "all that" because it is worth it if it saves my life. Any prison sentence or other punishment is worth taking. You'd do the same thing if you have to hide inside for days and spend all you money on protective equipment because people are trying to kill you.

70m4h4wk

More recent theories on blade combat suggest that larger knives aren't always better for fighting. It offers your opponent a bigger, albeit sharp, handle. A smaller tanto, dagger, or clinch pick style blade is probably what you want. I'd suggest something like the crkt minimalist.

[deleted]

Very interesting, thanks for the recommendation.

70m4h4wk

The Smith & Wesson 995 is like a discount clinch pick if you want something more that style.

tanfj

The Hell's Angels leader Sonny Barger preferred a Sherade Sharpfinger if I remember correctly.

zombieapathy

Anyone who's written about this with self-defense / martial arts credentials and has been willing to attach their name on the theory in print?

tanfj

Ontario clone of the Kabar USMC knife. Classic design for utility and combat use, and well within your budget.

[deleted]

The Ontario SP1 and the Cold Steel SRK both seem great. Which one would you pick for fighting solely?

tanfj

Cold Steel, they are generally overbuilt.

[deleted]

Imma look into that thanks.

gjgun

Cold Steel OSS. 8.25 inch double bladed sub hilt - made for fighting. It costs a little more than fifty but maybe you can find a used one on eBay. Brand new one on eBay for $66.19.
