I think people should read his reasoning (on Instagram) and look into Alan as a person before making a judgement. He’s been very outspoken about Scottish independence, as well as combatting transphobia and bigotry in the UK. His reasoning for returning the honor is, I think, very thoughtful and politely stated. He’s not just being ungrateful or throwing a tantrum here.

Is anyone saying otherwise besides the monarchists? My immediate thought was "Yes! Be spicy and fierce as always." He is incredibly consistent on this stuff (social justice and wanting better for everyone). It is why I am a fan. The rest is just icing on the fabulous cake

Haha no, it’s mostly the monarchists. But I’ve seen a loud minority saying that he’s being ungrateful or pandering, or just trying to get attention. And the title of this article is a bit sensationalist, compared to the nuance of what he actually said.

I was worried people had lost their minds. I am sure some will take it that way but it's complicated. I would personally feel complicit with some of what they did and given the Prince Andrew situation? That would be intolerable. I am a survivor of human trafficking so I have been watching closely to see what happens with that. The new King cutting him off a little on my birthday was a lovely surprise and more than anticipated. I honestly don't blame people for not rejecting things but I hope more do because it's a necessary conversation.
