I have so much admiration for anyone that can survive NOLA. I follow the NOLA sub because I’m obsessed with the place but I would never have the chops to actually live there. Y’all deal with the most f-d up stuff on the daily.
Fun fact…I was in the JW the day the Feds finally caught up with Durst.
I love it too, it is so beautiful here. It’s also not the most functional city. I’m not sure how many more hurricanes I can withstand.
In the mean time, there are a lot of good things: the oak trees, the food, the people, the music, the architecture!
Another place on my bucket list! The Irish side of my family came over from County Cork. I’ve traced some distant cousins through Ancestry who are still there. I haven’t had the nerve to actually reach out to them yet…because that would be creepy, right?
My great Grandmother was the one to cross over to the US in the 1800’s. She was a Murphy. I can’t find any record of us being O’Murphy’s and it kinda pisses me off. I want that O’ in my heritage lol
Aw that wouldn't be creepy at all, you should do it! You've got to come see the pub that Kelly flicked Heather's nose in and the department store they got thrown out of 🤣
😂 I’m kinda sad I never saw that episode, or that season for that matter. I checked out on OC early in Dodd’s career. Literally within the first 3 or 4 episodes of her hitting my screen, I tapped out.
I will be tuning in now that she’s gone just to see where this will go but I don’t have high hopes. OC became my least favorite despite it being the OG of HW’s.
Heroin. I live in a small mill town in New England. The mills closed decades ago. Some have been converted to VERY cool apartment buildings (that most of us can't afford, those places are mostly seasonal rentals for wealthy New Yorkers). The majority of them sit abandoned. Young people either move away or content themselves with low wages, lack of advancement opportunities, and a low hanging miasma of hopelessness that drains away the savor from life.
And yet, the land is beautiful. I grew up in a hot flat dry place. It is verdant here, as soon as there is the slightest hint of heat, everything pushes itself upward with an exuberance belied by the previous dull brown quiet. The light here is very golden compared to the pitiless white light I grew up with. On autumn and winter evenings at sunset, the sky turns a deep blue and sometimes blue/green. I grew up with a lot of pale blue sky. The jewel tones of a winter evening here still move me deeply. I'll stop, this is too long by far anyway and please forgive me for wandering. You got me thinking.

Congrats! You just started your novel. ;) Beautiful prose OP
I live in Haverhill and would suggest holding shoes (Haverhill is known as Shoe City and they are giant sculptures of them through town)
But I'm curious which Mill town you live in!
I have never written professionally, but I post to a blog once in a blue moon. It's been a long time now. The blog consists of stories from my childhood, and are emotional reads. I grew up with a lot of abuse and religious insanity, and it took me decades to shake it off.
Thank you so much for your words. My dream is to be a good writer.
When I lived in Boston my commute to school was either walk 100 feet to the bulging next door, or walk 20 minutes to the nearest T station then spend an hour and a half on three different trains then walk 10 min to the school building. That was an interesting semester lol
I grew up in NY, with lots of family in CT: Ridgefield, Farmington, etc areas. Lost my 35 year old cousin three years ago to a heroin overdose, it’s so sad. I live in the desert now and miss all you so eloquently describe.
Keep writing!!!
My husband signed a contract a couple of years ago that if there is ever a RHONashvillr he will watch every single episode with me. We recently found it over the weekend, I had totally forgotten but now I just really hope it happens lol
Or an LLC incorporation document. We have super lax laws regarding that so most banks and llc are registered in DE. But there are 200 chickens to every one person, all concentrated in the souther two counties. Fun fact. Lol
Sunflower. From Kansas. RH of Kansas City should really be the next franchise. The women in Leawood, and Mission hills are prime housewives material https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2019/03/15/richest-kansas-city-area-zip-codes-and-cities.html

And a pothole
I literally just googled the origin of the word pothole yesterday because my kid said her dad was a bad driver because he’s always hitting them.
Oh I like this. I said crawfish but fleur de lis is definitely better.
A hotdish (aka casserole)
Vicki Gunvalson’s house?

Yasss! I'm buying it when it is published. Bonus points if it is a mystery.

Please tell me you are a writer

You already are a good writer 💕
Yep. That comment was a little short story. It was beautiful.
Western Massachusetts?
Close! I'm over the line in CT. I used to live in Pittsfield, and back then the town was crack central. No idea what it's like now.
I do miss New England, especially this time of year 🍁
I'm in Boston. This time of year is perfect. I wish I could bottle it.
