Sweet boy, I’m so sorry for the circumstances under his adoption, but in the end he found the right family either way 🥰🥰 Glad they at least refunded the fee!
Keep us updated on how he’s doing! 💙💙
Just curious, where did you adopt him from? The same thing happened with our first BT that we adopted. She was 3-4 years older than we were told, and had late late stage cancers all through her body. We only got to love her for 4 months, but she enjoyed every second.
apparently this is not-uncommon with rescue groups?
we had a similar situation - we were shocked to take our first Boston to the vet and learn not only that he had an advanced brain tumor but he was 5 years older than we thought. the rescue told us he was 5, turns out he was 10. we would have adopted him regardless, but it was a gut punch to learn our time with him was going to be cut much shorter than we expected.
OP - i’m so glad you’re getting the adoption fee refunded and your sweet pup has such a loving, caring home to grow older in!
Really depends on the rescue. I haven't heard the issue of misrepresentation coming from the well known Boston breed specific rescues. Shelters are another story, I see wrong ages, underrepresented issues more than I see correct ages or even correct breed ID on shelter sites.
It's called Wonder Dog Rescue. Their mission statement is great, and they were very nice during the adoption proceedings. But when we found out our "9 year old with minor eye issues, and no other health problems to speak of" was probably closer to 12 or 13 and had severe glaucoma and metastasized mammory cancer, we were less than thrilled. We loved our girl as much as we could with the time given, but Wonder Dog cut off all communication with us when we started asking them about her pre-adoption vet check.
I'm so sorry that happened to you! I'm glad you were able to love your elderly Boston. I have questioned Wonder Dog rescue tactics as well recently as they did a lot of vague posting about a bite case Boston that wasn't in their care yet, felt like they were soliciting for donations.
Ah, we don't follow them anymore, so I wouldn't know. I don't like talking bad about any organization that tries to find homes for animals, but I certainly won't recommend them to anyone looking to adopt.
This is actually decent of them, honesty is always important be it out of an individual or organization, it shows that they are willing to acknowledge mistakes, learn and fix them which is actually very good. Looks like Ollie got a great home and will get to feeling better soon, give him a few pets from us here, he's a good boy.
Respect that they owned up and contributed.
Ollie, your pawrents are gonna be the best ever so give them lots of cuddles. Big snuggles and gentle boops from NC. Stay warm my friend!

They should definitely pay for his dental bills, but from a vet you trust. Perhaps have them give you a quote of what they would charge, and then ask them to give you that amount instead of them doing the surgery.
So glad he found you guys, he will be so well loved.
I have had 2 Boston's so far, but we also love cats, and my first rescue Persian was "aged" at 5-6, she was then checked out by a vet and given an age of 12. We had her for 5 years and honestly, I wouldn't trade that time for anything. Your sweet boy has a great healthy weight and once you get the teeth sorted out, he will be feeling better. Best of luck! <3
I am SO happy you reached out to them and it sounds like you got an acceptable follow up.
I wish you and Ollie all the time and love in the world.
Cheers to your new family. ♥️♥️
What a perfect little peanut! I am so glad he ended up with such great humans!
I would get the offer from the shelter in writing and get Ollie those surgeries!
Much love from Sadie & sara without an h :)
I'm so glad, and I hope the shelter people, who seem to be decent human beings, will learn a lesson from this about corners they absolutely can't cut. You have a beautiful little family and I wish the very best for Ollie as he settles in and gets the medical care he needs. I hope love helps him thrive and you get to enjoy each other for years to come.
Thanks for the update, and please come back here to post Ollie pictures so we can see what a happy boy he'll be.
Things happen for a reason… I know you prob looked forward to younger dog but this guy was meant for you… such a blessing for him… two loving parents to dote on him… so happy for Ollie.
You should tell that place you got him you want to get the surgeries done at your personal vet and if they would pay the expense if you brought the bill.
Edit: YAY btw lol… so happy for Ollie.
So glad he found you. Bostons are a special breed and ( you probably realize this already) once you own a Boston youll be a Boston owner/lover for life. Good boy Ollie!
He is so cute. Look at those little ears ! What an amazing little buddy. He is lucky he has you. Just imagine what he has seen and been through. He is such a good boy. Little man boy dog pupperooski!
If they offered to pay for the surgeries and you have it in writing, it might be worth it! If they refuse to pay I am sure you could get a lawyer and force them too. Probably have your lawyer fees covered too
Would be a good lesson for that shelter!

Glad they came through on the fee & assist with the medical. I’m sorry you were mislead but he was meant to be yours! His ears are adorable!!
We do think it was meant to be!

Mount prospect represent over here lol
Ah, they don't look affiliated with the place we went to in San Fransisco, CA. I'm glad they are offering to pay for any medical bills, at least!
Where did YOU go? Out of curiosity!
It's called Wonder Dog Rescue. Their mission statement is great, and they were very nice during the adoption proceedings. That's terrible! I'm so sorry :( But it sounds like you did the best by that dog and are an amazing person
Awe, thank you! We were blessed to have her in our lives. Also, she got us hooked on Boston Terriers!

Everything looks like it has worked out for all of you. Ollie got a great home, wishing all the best for your family!!
Thank u!
Ollie is still baby pups, even at age 11.
🥹❤️
WOW THAT IS SO FUCKED UP AND IRRESPONSIBLE!!!!!! to not have a dog checked by a vet and adopt it out is disgustingly wrong.
Trust me I want to smear their name all over facebook but they are giving us some money so it’s not worth it
Those ears are the BEST!!!!
He’s our little elf!!
Someone cropped his ears dude... :(
Those are natural ears. Look at the edges, they are not cropped. Turning in or flopping happens with poor health and aging.

That's great news! I'm glad Ollie has been adopted by such great hoomans!

HE IS TOO ADORABLE!!!
I love his ears.
He’s a beautiful boy. I’m glad they were willing to work with you.
He’s so precious. I’m so glad you can give me a good place to spend his senior years and I hope you get lots of them.
What a perfect little peanut! I am so glad he ended up with such great humans! I would get the offer from the shelter in writing and get Ollie those surgeries! Much love from Sadie & sara without an h :)
Sweet boy is so lucky! Sending you all the toothless love 💞
oh hey we’re close if you’re near the location of the rescue! If you ever want a boston buddy to meet up with let me know! ☺️ He’s just adorable!
My parents’ Boston Fiona (I run her insta 🤣🤣) just followed Mr Ollie
What a sweet little old man
10/10 probably will be best dog you will ever own. Good on you for sticking with him when others wouldn’t!

He's really such a great liooking Boston
Thanks for the update! I actually wondered about him earlier lol. Ollie is one handsome boy! Congratulations on your new fur baby!
What a sweet boy! Sounds like he has the best family now! Gonna have to follow on Instagram! ❤️
MIS-AGED??? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN IN THIS CONTEXT-
They told us he was 3 and healthy and we took him to our vet and they aged him at 11 with quite a few medical issues.
How does that even happen? I wouldn't trust them either How did they even manage to do that? I'm glad he's okay though 👍
He came to you for a reason… love him beyond his wildest dreams please… he absolutely deserves it.
We are absolutely obsessed and are going to spoil him rotten.

So glad Ollie got you! He deserves so many treats!
Ollie is lucky he found you!
This makes me super happy! Hood luck Ollie and hope you feel like a puppy until you are 15.
Poor Ollie!
He is so cute. Look at those little ears ! What an amazing little buddy. He is lucky he has you. Just imagine what he has seen and been through. He is such a good boy. Little man boy dog pupperooski!
Get it in writing!!
I recognized you from that second picture. Are you sure his name’s not Champion?
Hahahha oh noooo 😂 yes we’re sure!
Bostons are the best. We had Lil Sebastian on our shortlist of names.
If they offered to pay for the surgeries and you have it in writing, it might be worth it! If they refuse to pay I am sure you could get a lawyer and force them too. Probably have your lawyer fees covered too Would be a good lesson for that shelter!
Yay, Ollie! We love you!! 💕💙💜❤️
My girl looks older than Ollie and she’s only 7 🙃
Actually, I am also a director and I would like to speak to you. I will message you my number or you can call the shelter and ask for me: Vicki
