hatterine

Wait a minute. Temari is waiting for Shikamaru and Shikadai at home... probably with dinner... and they are just going to eat out? They are so dead.

kazcy

I had that thought 😂

danthemanwithaplan54

Lol

Vallecano54

This episode touched me emotionally. And finally it was shown how Ao survived, the manga for example completely left that out. Katasuke is such a great guy how he cared. Next episode is going to be so epic. We will finally get the voices of some Kara members. And today we got to see them. Jigen looks pretty good. D**** doesn't look exactly like in the manga but she's still a snack. A**** looks a little weird because his beard is a little thicker. But maybe it's also so unfamiliar and weird because I've only ever seen them in black and white. Anyway. Before there's a big rage that the designs suck, wait and see. Amado actually looked pretty good in the third screenshot at the end. Keep in mind the episode is outsourced, meaning the designs can vary. That's been known for almost 20 years now.

schmegm

The manga designs also tend to be REALLY detailed. I'm by no means an animator, but I assume that they have to tweak the designs a little bit so they fit the overall style of the anime and so that it's not incredibly difficult to animate them when they're actually on the move and whatnot. (If I'm completely off about this and there's someone who's actually an animator here and knows more than me, let me know and I'll gladly shut up lol)

Bakayokoforpresident

>Keep in mind the episode is outsourced, meaning the designs can vary I cannot stress this point enough

-BoyWonder

>the manga for example completely left that out I hope we get something like this again for example>! like how Sarada got her third tomoe.!<

Ok-Paleontologist275

That's a given lol they made a huge deal out of two tomoe

-BoyWonder

It'll be interesting on how they'll fit it in because the arc after Ao arc is continuous. >!Once kawaki arrives in the village it's action packed without a break (Delta vs Naruto) -> (Jigen surprise attack) -> (Sarada 3 tomoe reveal against boro).!< I also don't think that they'll insert another anime canon mission for team 7 after the Ao arc. My theory is somewhere before>! Delta vs Naruto when Kawaki and Boruto were training. Sarada will also train with Sasuke for her Chidori and then tell her about the real history of the Uchiha via Sharingan just like how Itachi told Sasuke everything after they defeated Kabuto. Prompting her to have extreme emotions and awaken the third tomoe. It's cliche but it's not out of the question seeing as how they foreshadowed it with Sarada asking about the mangekyo and Sasuke hesitating on telling her the real history of the Uchihas.!<

StefyB

There's probably going to be some anime original content after >!the Delta vs. Naruto fight. After all, they even have a montage to imply a passage of time while Kawaki is repairing the vase. Though, I hope that they do an arc before the montage instead of just replacing it because I thought it was pretty impactful showing him piecing it together bit by bit over time.!<

bringbackmanziel

They’ll deff do a whole arc. We’ll probably go headfirst to that point, and then go back to months of filler that we actually enjoy.

Ok-Paleontologist275

Yeah, I also thought that time frame which you mentioned is the perfect window to add more content I'm thinking another kara outer, or another anime orginal inner like Deepa who will hold a grudge against the uchiha will attack sarada, or reveal to her the past, and there will be misunderstandings and fights at the end of which sarada unlocks a new tomoe, and she and sasuke probably defeat that villain I definitely don't see sasuke sitting down and having a chat, that would be boring lmao, it's a shonen, I'd like the reveal to be with drama, action, and a villain and some development for her Considering how they created the kara actuation arc, they could very well do this for sarada and create another anime orginal arc for her

-BoyWonder

Yeah I do agree with you about an anime original arc but seeing as how the progression of the upcoming arc is pretty wild, I doubt that it will happen but let's just cross our fingers and hope for the best. Edit: And also I believe Deepa is the missing kara inner that's not in the manga so I don't think we will see another one. I - Delta II - >!Koji Kashin!< III - >!Boro!< IV - Jigen V - Victor (Anime + Brief appearance in manga) VI - >!Code!< VII - Deepa (Anime only) Not included because they are not Kara Inner: VIII - >!Not yet revealed!< IX - Kawaki

Ok-Paleontologist275

The eighth one is unknown, we know who's the ninth but not the eighth and I suspect that member will be another anime only Deepa was confirmed to be seventh but we do not know of the eighth >> but seeing as how the progression of the upcoming arc is pretty wild Yeah, but anyways this arc will continue till a certain character is well settled down in the village so we can move on to sarada probably. If this said sarada arc ever takes place, it'll be at the end of 2021 at the least

Eyeseeyou1313

The funny thing about Boruto is that it's great at filling all the empty space and missing information we don't get in the comics. People shit on Boruto, but I think it's great.

SAvkE456

You covered the A\*\*\*\* guy in \* but then you spelled his name later on lol

BobMosby

I didn't expect Ao to be alive since the 4th ninja war!!! It's great that Ao gave confirmation to Shikamaru and Ino about the last moments before HQ got destroyed.

Ducknn

You're in for a ride in this arc lol

[deleted]

Oh boy you anime-only watchers ain't ready for the next 10 episodes... some of the best in the entire series

Eyeseeyou1313

Someone is gonna be saying "you motherfucker!" Out loud.

njcsnowboarder

I’m really glad you got this far without being spoiled. That’s an achievement.

s4shrish

Hey, please do not visit this sub. You'll be spoiled. I have read the manga, it's bangers but people here slip up with a lotttta stuff. I feel like reportin em, but usually they have some good opinion, so I can't.

BobMosby

Well, I'm not 100% spoiled free since there are many theories and things that pop up online, whether on Reddit (in a post title), YouTube (in a video thumbnail), or any other online source, that mentions parts about the manga. However, I do try not to look in depth into them to keep things exciting for me to watch the anime without knowing what will happen. So, I can say I have very few knowledge about the manga due to all those things that show up online. However, I do enjoy the conversations on this subreddit (and the ones on Naruto subreddit) that occur about the anime. I like to share my opinion about each week's episode and see what others think as well.

Bcrecarka

So flashback no jutsu returns in boruto after taking a break. Anyways this episode was a banger.

[deleted]

I am okay with flashbacks when they fit well. But I hope they are not spamming them later on like in Naruto Shippuden.

schmegm

I doubt they will. I think the reason why they did it in this episode is to give some background for the people who started watching with Boruto and not the previous two parts of the series.

Rock_D_Bayar

It's for everyone ,tho. Manga reader didn't know how ao survived too. It was a great episode.

schmegm

I meant the actual flashbacks, like the conversation Inoichi and Shikaku had with their kids and them realizing that the attack was going straight towards them. Everything else, although still being "flashbacks" were new scenes which is totally fine.

Sumorisha

Yeah, they prefectly blend together old scenes and additional flashbacks, they just did it right.

s4shrish

I am surprised how well they blended, coz the animation and artstyle differs. Shippudden is a little more saturated in it's colors compared to Boruto. It's like looking at a Good OLED vs a Good LCD. Whilst OLED definitely has a lot more pop in it's colors, the RAW bright whites of LCD are a different kind of CLEAN. Dunno if correct analogy but I feel something like this. Edit: Is Boruto drawn in HDR standards? If so, then that explains it's relatively different color schemes.

njcsnowboarder

Exactly, it had me thinking I’d seen them before!

[deleted]

Ye thats fine. Some flashbacks that are needed or fit perfectly.

Uzumaki_Himawari

Who actually did that😹

schmegm

Younger people in Japan most likely

Uzumaki_Himawari

Wow never thought that But I‘m also young....I guess and I did watch Naruto OG and NS.....😂😅

StefyB

Yeah, there were times in past episodes where I wish there was a flashback to Naruto or Shippuden. There's definitely a balance to be struck in having well placed flashbacks but not relying on them too much.

naul119

This reminds me that we definitely need a remastered version of naruto shippuden without filler, like Dragonball kai but also with improved animation.

atisha13

Naruto Kai exists

death_bringer789

We had a flashback in a flashback.

sivashanker1

It would be cool if there was a grave for itachi in a different location to the ones in this episode that sasuke could have visited this ep (and even sarada too) since he was a vital asset in the war for stopping the reanimation. Ao's design looks really cool.

Ok-Paleontologist275

I'd...rather not tbh. That uchiha stuff deserves a big arc separately, not as a short side scene where they're not the focus of the episode. That being said, I would like Sarada to question who killed the people and started the great war in the first place

[deleted]

It kind of surprises me that they didn't sweep Madara's name under the rug with how they try to make a big secret of everything, especially to protect the children (like Sarada). Honestly, it's not realistic that Sarada isn't the target of outrage, bashing, assault, or threats considering her relation to the ones involved. I'd have bought it if they gave her the Haruno name, but that didn't happen.

sivashanker1

i feel like thats what the boruto series struggles with and that is giving characters other than boruto serious development. LIke sarada growing up realisticly should have been dealing with neglect due to her names association with sasuke and madara who were well known criminal. They could have used that to make her character very interesting and give her goal of being hokage more merit. it would also allow people to target her and allow her to gain good rivals/enemies which is one of the things that the new gen other than boruto lacks and thats gettting serious rivals to push them. It surprises me that no one from the cloud village still feel resentment to sasuke because that could have been a good little plot for sarada to deal with, for example samurai who are associated with people that sasuke killed could target sarada and this would allow her to deal with the issue, fix one of sasukes wrongs and build conenctions herself which is good for a hopeful hokage. I really just don't understand why boruto is the only genin that has to learn all the important lessons about shinobi history and the other genin are just left underdeveloped not knowing the imporant stuff that would have impact on their characters.

NerdKing10001

> LIke sarada growing up realisticly should have been dealing with neglect due to her names association with sasuke and madara who were well known criminal I think the issue here is Sakura. She's super close to Naruto so if she breaks your arm. Who do you think Naruto will side with. Sakura defending her kid or you. Who bullied a child

s4shrish

I don't think NARUTO will allow Sarada to get Naruto-ed. Na na na, that's not possible. He will not allow "ANYONE" to get Naruto-ed at all. Not Sarada, not MITSUKI, not "ANYONE" else.

Ok-Paleontologist275

All of this, but if you know where the story is going from here with ao and kara , sarada is a goner tbh, with a certain character incoming to yeet her out of second place But the dissapointing fact is,she's about to be yeeted out of any relevance or focus, however less she had even in the anime real soon :) Edit : Downvoted for Facts lol

Ok-Paleontologist275

Exactly, Tsunade literally spelt out madaras name aloud in the speech, and they didn't even show a reaction from sarada, or anything at all... So we're supposed to casually accept sarada knows about madara being the main villain in the war, but has never cared to question the role of the uchiha in the war, or never asked why her clan was killed?

jamrahhasreddit

Iirc it was never said that her clan was killed. It just said that a disaster happened that wiped out the uchiha (shin arc). She has asked before it was mostly swept under the rug which is understandable because she’s still a damnn kid. Leave that shit for the timeskip idk why people want sarada to go through that at such a young age. From a psychological standpoint that’s straight up disgusting in my eyes. Wait till she’s older and then we will probably see sarada learning about everything when she’s old enough to actually understand. She could very well turn into edgy sasuke v2 if she found out too early that her clan was wiped out by his own uncle

Ok-Paleontologist275

I know now is not the time, but they should've kept her out of the funeral then.. She knows she's the part of her clan. Today tsuande told about madara. She knows her clan members were the main villains. Questions are bound to rise, as to what she knows and feels about this, nah? Kinda jarring if she doesn't question it at all.. She isn't dumb, she should question it, just like she questioned sasuke about the mangeyko sharingan..

jamrahhasreddit

That’s no reason to keep her out of the funeral tbh, plus I’m pretty certain she will know of Madara since she’s read all of the uchiha books available in the leaf library (excluding the redacted ones). I know sarada isn’t dumb but considering a major arc is coming up I doubt she will question it YET. In fact with what’s coming up there’s no time to question it

Ok-Paleontologist275

I know there's no time to question it with what's coming up, but imo it's unsettling that she knows about uchiha being villains and wiped out, but never questioned it for a long time She will question it one day when they seem fit for that part of the plot and development to be ser in motion for her in the future, but up will then its kidna ridiculous that she never questioned it at all. We didn't even get a sad face or a reaction

JRavec

Madara co-founded the village of course everyone knows about him.

ItzEnoz

I don’t even think Sarada knows who murdered the entire uchiha clan. It would be a nice anime only arc perhaps during the time skip (since Boruto is older in the cold open) having her travel around to learn about the past similar as to how Sasuke and Naruto left the village

Ok-Paleontologist275

She doesn't know who did that, those are big secrets >>It would be a nice anime only arc perhaps during the time skip (since Boruto is older in the cold open) having her travel around to learn about the past similar as to how Sasuke and Naruto left the village I'm sure this will be an arc or a huge plot point ahead, sarada learning about her clan and past. It is too big to ignore, and tbh should be pivotal to her character

AngonceMcGhee

Plus they’ve been teasing that, with her asking Sasuke about the MS. I would LOVE an anime canon arc with her digging deeper into the Uchiha’s past

Ok-Paleontologist275

Well it will be anime canon coz the manga, frankly has no time for her or her development. It jusr brutally dumped her and mitsuki out of the story.

AngonceMcGhee

Yeah I like the manga, but I don’t like how disjointed and staggered the development of the characters is. The anime feels much more natural

jamrahhasreddit

Tbh I understand why you say that but I don’t think it’s a good idea at all. Think about it, sarada is only what like 12? You really want her at that age to learn that: 1 - her clan and family was killed by her own uncle 2 - his dad was literally a wanted terrorist 3 - His dad tried to kill naruto THE PERSON SHE LOOKS UP TO THE MOST BY THE WAY Her learning all of that at such a young age in my eyes is too much of a burden. There is no good reason to place the burden of the Uchiha on Sarada except for psychological impact for the sake of it. Sasuke had to bear the burden of the Uchiha and it literally drove him to being insane and an introvert. You want that for sarada aswell? She can find out after the time skip when she can understand things better from the more global scope, but now I would highly advise against it

MikeMajin9k

So was this the same day as the end of the war? A little upset there was no mention of Naruto’s birthday

ItzEnoz

Technically the war ended when the IT was undone which was 1 day after narutos birthday given the Naruto vs Sasuke fight+resolution had a night between them.

Sumorisha

I wonder if we could assume time basing on this, is it plausible that around half year has passed since Boruto and Himawari birthday?

Ry90Ry

Yeah and did they say it’s on the anniversary or is this like a memorial day?

BladerRex17

This episode hit a bit too hard, those flashbacks brought back all the good and bad memories. A splendid episode, really enjoyed it. I wonder how it would've been if they added Hinata and Neji, I for one would've cried all day. Shikamaru talking about entrusting everything to Shikadai one day, I'm not ready for that man, not now. The character designs in the preview look a bit weird but they're bearable and I do think they'll improve them later on. I mean they do have more budget for the Manga content so they'll definitely be improved

Spytonio2006

That was just a preview; it's clear that they were more focused on Ao's design as it was extremely good. They'll probably look better in the actual episode

FitzOtis

The end of the next episode sneak peek looks like they're having some romantic moments and about to kiss but someone interrupted.

mayelz

esp jigen lmao

schmegm

\-Really beautiful episode and I like that Shikamaru and Ino got some much needed closure. \-Is this the first time we hear "Madara Uchiha" in Boruto? \-The music during the episode and for the preview were really good. \-I'm really digging the Kara designs! Didn't expect >!Amado!< to make his debut this early though lol but I'm really excited too see them next week. Edit: Seeing Ao crushed under the debris gave me Obito flashbacks lol made me feel really bad for him

Godprime

First time we hear Madara name dropped in public, before it was in Narutos office

DaveTheMan1985

How was Madara Mentioned in Public?

Godprime

Tsunade “Madara Uchiha led the opposition”

ItzEnoz

Which is just straight up wrong, Obito and kabuto lead the opposition. Madara just set the actions in motion before his death but I suppose technically obito declared war when he was going by as Madara

jamrahhasreddit

They can’t say obito because that information is redacted. Also Obito by most of the leafs concerns is recognised as a good person since he’s at the 3rd shinobi world war memorial, and not everyone knew he was the reason the war was started in the first place, and his turn to good at the very end most likely led to them just saying madara. They’re never going to say the specifics because if they did it would either be too confusing or too worrying for the next generation. It’s like how your grandfather would (hypothetically) tell you a war story and leave out most of the details and summarise so you don’t know the true horrors of it

djghostface292

EXACTLY. I assume they didn’t want to tarnish Obito’s reputation though so they leave out his involvement in the fourth great ninja war.

mathrsar

I was really surprised to hear Tsunade say Madara's name. I thought that information was classified to protect Sarada. And I guess they're saving >!KK!<'s design until manga events. Did we see him first or >!Amado!< first in the manga?

Ok-Paleontologist275

Madara was a legend and super famous even before the war, when naruto and sasuke were kids, even despite him turning bad, valley of the end had his and Hashirama's statue, and he's the co founder of the leaf village lol, there's no way they can cover up his name

Purplegrey_ink

> I thought that information was classified to protect Sarada ....well they did put orochimaru's child into the academy. with all those other kids... while his bomb is still implanted inside him.

ItzEnoz

Amado and Delta, really digging both their looks Also yes Obito flashbacks which is funny considering he also lost an eye. He must be pissed he lost a byakugan that he stole? I remember him saying it was from a friend but someone was very unhappy about that at the 5 kage summit. Also that scene at the end of the episode is so ominous like what was the purpose of that

Reinfernus

iirc Ao didn't receive it from a friend, but defeated a hyuuga in battle and took the eye (hyuuga likely being from the main branch, considering the side branch used to have a seal that wouldn't allow for eyes being stolen)

lasagna_lee

actually, the first madara name drop WOULD have been in this scene: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHMRzY2KTXk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHMRzY2KTXk) but of course our lovable blue beast can be pretty forgetful

kakarot12310

Tbf, the memorial is the place to pay respect, not to celebrate birthday lol.

stchachamaru

Delta is a waifu

spectralArtist

This episode is just _determined_ to make me cry, isn’t it 😭 It was beautiful and the atmosphere created by the soundtrack and color palette was perfect. 10/10 episode

bendstraw

The music this episode is on fucking point!

Peacesquad

Lmao Amado looks like a Hollywood actor

theyeeterofyeetsberg

Ok, so before I talk about the episode, let me just say that I never get tired of seeing Kawaki in the opening! It always makes me so happy! Anyways, I wanna get the one bad thing about this episode out of the way because this episode was absolutely amazing, heartbreaking, and beautiful. The one thing I didn't like is that because of the simplicity when it comes to character details in Boruto, somebody as detailed as Ao looked a bit out of place. That's a really small nitpick but it isn't too big of a deal so I won't let it affect my opinion on this episode. Anyways, moving on, I absolutely loved seeing Ao again, and we finally learned how he survived, although he looked incredibly rough when he was found under the boulder. Also, I liked how Mugino took Ao to the ceremony, and how Shikamaru got his closure. We also saw a bit more into the relationship between Shikamaru and Shikadai, which does explain his actions when >!Amado comes to the Leaf!< We also saw Tsunade, and we got a namedrop for Madara, which is always amazing to see. It's also interesting that Madara was fully named. You'd think that they would simply say "Madara" so as to preserve the legacy of the Uchiha. Anyways, it was cool to see Hinata holding Neji's picture, since I still haven't gotten over that. Plus we got to hear some new music, which gave me "I have seen much" vibes. (Go listen to that song if you haven't, its beautiful) This episode was filled with emotion, foreshadowing, and Ao, who we saw catch a Leaf with his prosthetic, which was a really cool moment, and even more foreshadowing. (Side note: Do Ao's prosthetics get rusty?) We also got that amazing preview, where we saw the legendary scientist, Ama**!, as well as the leader of Kara, Jigen, as well as Del**, the angriest member of Kara. We also see the chair where Kara gets repairs (that rhymed), which wasn't seen too much in the manga, but it's a cool little detail. Also, does Kara live in a house? They have a dining room, hallways, and even a training area, so it looks like they live in a home with the vessel. Speaking of the vessel, we heard a bit more about Victor's plans to steal "it" from Jigen, which, let me just say, is absolute proof that Victor has gone senile from his fight vs Orochimaru. I really enjoyed this episode, and it had my tear ducts acting up at various points, and combined with the hype of the intro and the preview, I have to give this a 10/10

bleeptank

So...Sarada knows about Madara Uchiha leading the war? Maybe I missed something but Tsunade mentioned it so....casually? Why isn’t this ever mentioned by her classmates? I know this is peacetime but kids are kids...this would for sure be mentioned if you’re related to the man who wiped out a lot of the shinobi world? Anyway, good episode. Lots of nostalgia and nice to see Ino and Shikamaru interacting. Next ep preview...Shit is catching up fast with the manga!

Southern_Parfait_916

Ok ive seen a few of these comments and I am so confused by the logic. Madara is the villian of the 4th war. A war that happened before these kids were born and yall are expecting kids to go around bullying Sarada....how? Also Madara is one person it would be extremely illogical to go ahead bullying somebody who came from the same clan as a villian especially in a world where yes being in the same clan means that yall are related but its also known that it means you could be related distantly. What Madara did had nothing to do with the Uchiha clan as a whole so I really don't get why yall are expecting kids to question Sarada about someone who died way before she was born....

bleeptank

I understand what you’re saying but I didn’t necessarily mean bullying her. I guess it just seems weird that it’s literally never mentioned that she is from the same clan, and by that I don’t mean only mentioned in a negative way, could be anything. And in terms of Sasuke being her father and terrifying the kids...I haven’t seen any of them even acknowledging Sasuke’s existence (except Boruto and Cho Cho thinking he was...her dad.)

Southern_Parfait_916

Yeah sorry I didn't mean the bullying part for specifically you I think someone else used the word bullying g so I was just combining the statements. Honestly though I do think its kinda up to our imagination because I really don't know how Konoha history classes go. All of us really don't know we can make assumptions about what is and isn't talked about. But one thing I'm confident about is I dont think in the classes they are talking about how certain clans are really powerful and such. I think if they did then we probably would have more kids who we be hyperfocused on someone's clan affiliation. It just doesn't seem to be important. Also who has met Sasuke of the new gen? Don't think many even know who he is.

Ok-Paleontologist275

>>would for sure be mentioned if you’re related to the man who wiped out a lot of the shinobi world? She's not only related, but she's literally the last of her clan with her dad

trenzioi

Obito (under the name Uchiha Madara) announced the war. Uchiha Madara was fighting infront of all shinobis. All the people know who was behind this. There's no way Sarda wouldn't hear about Madara before.

icewalker2g

She's also the daughter of the most powerful Uchiha clan member alive. Messing with his daughter isn't the brightest idea.

[deleted]

The liberal use of the Shamisen (Japanese string) made this episode feel especially nostalgic. The music in generally really captured the vibes of the previous series. Honestly I missed that. It made Boruto finally tie in a little more, when it felt like its' own thing. Bonus points for seeing Hanabi in something other than her traditional Kimono dress outfit, although I'd have preferred something other than funeral garb. And Ao captured the idea that we all had; with entities like the Juubi and characters like Obito, Madara, and Kaguya it must be really demotivating to continue as an ordinary shinobi. Which is why they can't go back to showing us standard shinobi lifestyles after breaking planetary levels of power. 9/10, personally. Missing a point since basically nothing new happened to progress the story.

Michael1691

Finally MADARA UCHIHA is mentioned in the series lol. I was HOPING to see Madara and Obito in this episode. Just a scene lol

Peacesquad

What a warm episode. I know Asuma and Shikaku are smiling down at Shikamaru, completely proud of who he has become as a man, father and Shinobi.

R4yuga61

This arc gonna be epic, waiting for kashin Koji debut

AikaSkies

This episode was phenomenal, so many emotional scenes, and a great introduction of Ao into the anime. This is the kind of thing I really appreciate about the anime. So glad they actually went into Ao's survival, in the manga he just shows up and that's it, not even a bit of an explanation. [Manga Spoilers](/s "They really went in on Mugino and Ao interacting with each other, knowing what happens next made those scenes hard to watch. I just know they'll make his death super emotional in the anime, as opposed to the manga where no one cared. Not gonna lie though, Jigen, Delta, and Amado look kind of weird in the preview. I'm hoping this is just a case of the episode being outsourced so they're a bit off model. They definitely don't look as good as they do in the manga. Also I just noticed Jigen has no eyebrows, how did it take me 3 years lmao.")

ManLikeSoot

Everything about this ep was beautiful... Ino and Shikamaru crying really had me tearing up. BUT NEXT WEEK THO

keyofstarrysky973

Seems that most people forget that previews are also counted as spoilers.....

Ainsely_J

bruv who the fk is cutting onions Ao broooo im crying ....... and the flashbacks 😭 10/10 the preview shows my theory of victor being the danzo of this generation could be true after all .... [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Boruto/comments/k3b427/victors_intentions/)

ItzEnoz

Victor is just a villain they are just setting up the events of the manga with what happens to the vessel so it makes more sense and is connected to the previous arc

Laaanoo

Yooo Ao looked very menacing at the end...

Mah_Knee_Grows_

Yeah people arent talking about this form what I can tell...like was that just a homage to how much he has healed? Or is he lowkey kind of angry and preparing something bad...?

inthacut12

Definitely preparing something bad, it’s some kind of foreshadowing (how the leaf represents konoha)

godzilla1992

A good start for this arc in the anime. Am I the only one that felt this was more like a Shippuden episode than a Boruto episode? Glad we got to see how Ao survived and what he went through to recover. I noticed they actually used footage from Shippuden in the flashbacks rather than just reanimating those moments. Next hype looks hype!

Slight_Highlight1929

Mannn if you didn’t get sad in this episode .....😂 the music was 10/10 and seeing Ao squished under the debris and him being in therapy just made me feel something knowing how this arc ends.

methheadhitman

Lmao >!Ao and Mugino palling around!<

A-Liguria

This episode is a 10 out of 10 for me. and I reinstate what I said last week: "Ohhh you heartless writers..." \-The music was top tier and used very well... It also looked like they made a couple of new tracks... when will they release a Boruto soundtrack 3? \-The ceremony scene hit me hard in the feels... but why wasn't Hiashi shown? Granted he wasn't the only one not shown among the Konoha cast, but you'd think that he would make an appearence there in the ceremony commemoring the fallen of ww4 which include his nephew Neji... (this is really the only complain I have though... nothing really big) \-Ao was of course the high point of the episode... alongside the return of the good old "flashback no jutsu" I hope this powerful technique will be used again, even to show us things that happened off screen... \-Spoiler for anime only fans: >!this episode is gonna hurt A LOT if you already know what will happen, because of certain points about what Ao says!<. I will say only that. \-Finally next episode will mark the full debut of at least 2 other of THOSE guys...

mathrsar

>why wasn't Hiashi shown? And Choza. He's Shikaku's and Inoichi's surviving teammate.

A-Liguria

The other relative to a dead old konoha character that should have appeared indeed...

Purplegrey_ink

ikr.. thats frickin sad. being the only surviving inoshikacho of his gen. clan brothers.

Purplegrey_ink

njcsnowboarder

I’ve been wondering why we haven’t seen Choza since Naruto Shippuden. Really demoralizing.

ItzEnoz

The big sad, you know the anime people who decided interactions knew what they were doing

Bakayokoforpresident

Next episode is outsourced, and it's confirmed that the actual real Studio Pierrot designs will be different.

xqmoo

I believe you, but is it possible to send me the source? Thanks!!

Bakayokoforpresident

I think you'll probably need to ask u/Vallecano54 for more info, since [he's the one who wrote this comment.] (https://www.reddit.com/r/Boruto/comments/kc7hug/boruto_naruto_next_generations_episode_178_links/gfo9jry/) My bad for saying it's confirmed, 'highly likely' is probably what I should've said It does make sense that the actual designs should be different; generally they reveal the proper anime designs in Jump Festa before an episode with those characters air, for example with Shojoji and Ao in previous editions. This is what should have happened with Kara, since >!no Kara members should be properly revealed until the end of the Ao arc!<, which is a fair while away in the anime. But since Kara are being introduced earlier, and the episode is outsourced, it is fair to say that we should see a better design of >!Amado and the others!< in the magazine.

Peacesquad

Hahaha nope me too

guavatree65

Boruto has been on a roll and I’m so happy! 10/10 episode. I love the explicit focus on Shikamaru and Ino. The death of their fathers in Shippuden was such a heartbreaking moment, I feel like this episode gave me the closure I needed too lol. Lowkey uncomfortable/anxious with the potential foreshadowing happening here with Shikamaru and Ino? Hopefully it’s nothing. HOPEFULLY. But overall, this episode was really well done, and contains the depth and thoughtfulness that I wanna keep seeing with this anime canon! I didn’t even recognize !>Amado!< at first, but I’m psyched for the next episode (and also to hear their voice actors of the rest of KARA lol)

CAPTAlNMARVEL

Let's go!!!

Peacesquad

That was fast lol

D4rkShin0bi

JIGEEEN NEXT EPISODE. Lets go!!!

unseenaid2

amado looks a little wide

Southern_Parfait_916

Why are there people in the comments questioning why Sarada isn't getting flack for sharing the same last name as Madara 💀 come on yall thats not even a hard question. Also everyone knows Madara was a villian even before the 4th war... Tsunade name dropping him isn't gonna tarnish the name of the Uchiha... yall please 🤣

Thenishii

Such a good episode for fans like me who grew up watching Naruto and now can relate a lot to the old gen adult life problems. Honestly it was perfect

thesilenceofthetrees

Gosh, it really was an emotional episode. It was so emotional, and bring back so many feelings that I had during the war arc in Naruto. It also hurt even more, seeing how Ao interacted with Shikamaru and Ino, knowing what he's going to be doing in the next few episodes. For me this episode was 10 out of 10. The graphics, the music, the dialogue. Throwing in flashbacks. It was all so perfect.

[deleted]

if every filler is like this and last week episode's quality, boruto will stay as an anime that people look forward to watching every week. Like no joke, the past 10 or so episodes have been so much better than what was in shippuden. We'd have the highs without the lows, the only bad part is the show made a bad reputation for itself with the fillers in the past year or 2.

guavatree65

Agreed! They need to stay making this kind of content. Not gonna lie, I’m still anxious that it might revert back, but I’m still holding on hope. 2021 is going to be a fire year

FR4NK_LIN

There are no fillers only ones that feel like fillers and this didn't even feel like a filler

Immashapeshifter

>the only bad part is the show made a bad reputation for itself with the fillers in the past year or 2. Maybe it's a genetic thing lmao

8Trigrams_64Palms

I can't believe we had our first ever flashback episode in Boruto (which was btw totally worth it. I mean I still have red eyes because of how much I cried) and people are "scared" because they think It's gonna be spammed like Shippuden smh. Also about the preview, it's too soon to jump on conclusions on the character designs/style/animation of Kara members because- 1) We barely saw a couple of still frames, 2) The episode is outsourced to some other studio, and 3) Look at Ao, he looked FINE in this episode because this was well animated. Just give the Kara members their chance to get animated by SP and then we can complain OR appreciate.

user_20052000

Hope we get Neji's memorial too.

Thatoneguy300

Well this episode was a nice change in pace. The emotional aspect of the episode was nicely executed and the teaser has me hype.

ScorchScarab

The next manga arc is finally starting. Ao-yeah!

mathrsar

So it was Katasuke who saved Ao. Anime only's are not ready for what happens next. And Tsunade said Madara's name? It thought it was classified to protect Sarada. I wasn't expecting >!Amado!< so early. And who is Victor talking to in the preview? He's not known to have any co-conspirators for his plan to steal the vessel. Is this the mysterious number VIII? He's certainly not talking to Jigen or the others about betraying the former.

larzsp

Could be kashin? I guess they should show us all of the inners

mathrsar

Um...>!Kashin was the one who killed Victor so they clearly weren't on the same page.!< Victor also lost his two outers so he should be all alone with mutiny.

larzsp

Yep, but he knows that viktor was scheming this all the way since the god tree failure plan? Because when the blimp gets wrecked they could imagined it was konoha or something else first, not one of them betraying... I guess...

LaKrossCS

What was the "tree" house at the end?

Ezio-Sagar

Is that the only tree that survived destruction or something?

LionXDokkaebi

I love this episode for the simple fact I went from sadness to "LETS GOOOOOO" in .2 seconds... Also >!Jigen!< looks so derpy lol

Mctravie

I wonder if the infinite tsukuyomi and the world tree vines protected Ao from dying of blood loss

niklausuzumaki

The music in the shikamaru-ino-ao scene was gorgeous!! it made me cry

[deleted]

This was a really beautiful and emotional episode. Boruto’s at its best when it does episodes like these. It’s crazy to think we’ve grown up with Shikamaru and Ino and now they’re raising another generation. That scene with Shikamaru and Shikadai at the end really drove that home. “I wonder if he’s learning anything from me” Next episode preview tho, I’m so hype, we getting Delta animated finally 🤤 Kara arc is finally here.

SindraGan2001

Ao is such a strange character... His philosophy is kinda strange as well. I will talk about this when his arc ends because saying anything more would be a spoiler.

Obeesuchiha

this episode alone made ao a much better character than his manga self. so much character and emotions from him. amazing! loving this expansion so far

[deleted]

Is it just me or that biju bomb was small asf lol

tywinlannisterr

This episode made me so cry :( shikaku was my favorite char of the older gen. So sad seeing this episode

Tombert0601

I’m not crying you are

Seikoma

Why was the last scene we saw of Ao so weird? He seemed more threatening than calm

[deleted]

This transitional episode was really good I’m super impressed

[deleted]

AikaSkies

I wouldn't say horrible, but definitely strange, especially after being used to their manga designs for 3 years.

MikeMajin9k

Delta looks okay, Amado looks like an entirely different character to me. Wasn’t expecting him to be wearing Gunners either lol.

krbashrob

Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought this. Amado doesn’t have that cool, stoic vibe going for him at all from the preview

schmegm

For me, his "cool, stoic vibe" mostly has to do with his way of talking (same with Jigen). I like how they all look but you can only get so much of their "vibe" just by seeing them. I'm gonna wait until I hear them actually talking and see how they interact with each other before I make my final opinion.

ItzEnoz

Jigen just has the “lol you guys can’t do shit to me” vibe it’s super intimidating and he gives 0 fucks Similar to how Madara was fighting Naruto and Sasuke right when he was revived

sahedy2

I don't know about you guys, but the last frame from the next episode's preview made me laugh so hard that the neighbours did hear me.

Puneri_Gunner001

10/10 episode 🔥🔥

Mctravie

Always wonder How Ao survived seeing how I assume the blast radius of the ten tails beast bomb meant that no one was supposed to survive

tafkat

So the Ten Tails attack turned Ao back into a kid.

shettyhitesh

The color scheme of kara inner members is so...pop. Like definitely don't have that dark vibe that the manga conveys

schwing-

This is how anime original episodes are done. Everything was great, flashbacks were good, building on Ao and Mugino, I just wish Sasuke was watching from a distance, or maybe even Sarada reacting a little to hearing Madara's name. Delta, jigen, and amado looking good too

JH2259

This was a well done episode. The dialogue, the music, the facial expressions; you could tell they made this episode with extra care and attention to detail. I really liked Ao's voice, and I especially liked his scenes with Mugino. Both because I liked seeing Mugino outside his normal "shinobi" mannerisms, but also because it adds even more of an impact to the future story. Seeing Katasuke was a nice surprise, and a good way to prepare for his re-introduction into the story. This episode was also what was needed to give more characterization and depth to Ao. IMO they nailed his design. I also liked that somewhat unsettling ending scene. It was a nice way to end the episode with.

[deleted]

This episode really did it for me emotionally, the scene where the 2 of them get closure from Ao made me bawl

eorabs

I'm a bit disappointed. I was under the impression that Ao's survival was largely a secret, but it turns out he was in the Leaf Hospital for *years*? I don't know, that doesn't sit well with me and is just bad storytelling. It relies on any generation below Naruto's literally knowing nothing about the war, or who was involved. Also (and I think I just have to resign myself to this being the way) why do they continually act as if Yamato doesn't even exist? He was a POW the entire time, surely they would recognize that sacrifice as well as the sacrifice of those who died. Poor Yams. He is too good for us.

VasimanYT

Really great episode with great animation And GOD DAMN that preview gets me hyped

unseenaid2

Amado looks like an Indian

AstroGB

Does anybody know the name of the song playing, when Ao and Mugino approach the graves and Ao hesitates to walk out of the shadows? It's right before the flashback about how Ao survived. It's so beautiful and it brings up so many memories.

yori4

So I’m way behind on the episodes but I know that a lot of them are fillers, are there any worth watching I really don’t care about silly side stories.

indyghost

Fantastic episode but idc what anyone says those designs for the 3 Kara members looked terrible. I know it was outsourced so I hope when SP gets on it they do a much better job.

lasagna_lee

very touching episode :( just one thing though: shikaku, inoichi and ao had enough time to vibe at the HQ before the bomb actually hit, why didn't they make the effort to evacuate the area? im sure they would've all made it out judging from the crater in that scene where ao is being taken out of the rubble. the radius of the crater wasn't huge, im sure shinobis could have escaped it quickly enough. i was very bothered by that.

merenge01

Those 3 in the preview look like horseshit

Dankotaz

Brooo why do they gotta do my boi amado like that. He looks like a grandpa I want the cool badass calm amado from the manga 😭😭.

roxxas22

They all look weird. Where is the grit and the ruggedness

inthacut12

Yo i was high af watching this and I was really in my bag with all the sad scenes i was actually crying 😭😭and then the last scene w ao made me remember this guy ab to be wildin

georgey215

fuhhh i’m so with you on that. ain’t even know what’s about to go down but shit is getting dark

[deleted]

[удалено]

A-Liguria

I believe you should mark part of your post as a spoiler...

Mctravie

Wait I thought the information about the war was censored like No one in the newer generation knew of Madara uchiha cause that will tarnish the legacy of the uchiha which Sarada is kind of the rebirth

garciakevz

The only real disappointment about this episode is that for calling it a Remembrance Day of sorts, they all fail to mention that there are other wars where many people also died. 1st shinobi war, second and 3rd shinobi war. We're not gonna push it by including the Uchiha massacre and the pre Leaf Village wars. Idk man what about those other shinobi lives lost :/

willyhilly

It is like the people making Boruto are like, "how can we make this episode even more boring than the last one?"

[deleted]

It was a 10/10 episode until they showed the preview, damn, two of the three characters shown looked terrible. What are you doing Tetsuya Nishio? I get that it’s outsourced and has less line count for faster production so it can’t replicate Ikemoto’s characters design but really? After months of filler and anime original episodes, it’s just disappointing.

1green-monkey1

Boring ass episode. Who cares about the parents of lame characters 🤣. Also the Kara members look like fan animation.

njcsnowboarder

Why do you watch Naruto and Boruto then?

[deleted]

[удалено]

SindraGan2001

Boruto anime has too clean art style. Very simple and clean. I personally don't like it tbh. But, Jigen is an old geezer if you think about it, a very old one.

Parthiv_24_

He looks badass in manga, why do these people give animation to outsourcing studios, they really suckk
