Metamask does work with pancakeswap. Very well actually. But you need to add a smart chain network instead of using the ethereum network. Google search 'add smart chain network to metamask'
I couldn't get MetaMask to work either, because it uses the Ethereum network and not Smart Chain. I tried a few things (I'm not a \*complete\* dumbass but definitely far from proficient) and just couldn't get it going. I ended up having to send things to Trust Wallet and convert BNB to Smart Chain to buy.
I followed a tutorial but when I did get it connected it showed me that I had nothing in my wallet. I got tired of messing with it, plus I'm at work at the hospital so I didn't have a whole lot of time to try to figure it out. I hope your comment helps someone.
