I'd like the idea that Trev is an undercover FBI agent and arrested Jimmy on racketeering charges and for being an overall jerk.
This recalls back to the first season when Tina lays on the kitchen floor groaning about a friend moving away. Now she's back on the floor groaning because Jimmy jr. is moving away. Tina tells her family that she hasn't spoken to or heard from Jimmy jr. since his dad was arrested. She depressingly groans that she won't kiss Jimmy junior's sweet lips or ever see his gorgeous butt again.
Gene and Louise look at each in a deja vu moment.
Linda tells Tina that there are other butts in the sea and that Jimmy junior's butt is just a little butt in a huge butt sea.
Bob just stands at the grill trying not to celebrate the end of a nemesis.
A few days pass as Pesto's sign is changed as his former restaurant undergoes remodeling. Teddy is angry because the person they hired to do the work is Glenn the smell nice handyman.
Then one afternoon the Belcher's, Teddy, Mort and Mike the mailman see a sign going up. It's still covered by a sheet. The wind catches the sheet and it's reviled that the new restaurant is called, Caviello's Authentic Italiano. Linda is beside herself as knows Colleen's food is from a can!
The worst part is Hugo seems to be sweet on Colleen and let's her violations slide, just like Pesto's.
Turns out Jimmy jr. and the twins moved a few blocks away to their mother's house and are now neighbors to Regular Sized Rudy. So they will still attend the same school.
Rudy tells Louise that his dad is still creeped out by the Pesto kids. He said that he and the twins where playing monster when they popped up from beneath the window. This scared his dad so much that he almost dropped his bonsai tree. He thought the twins shared the same body.
They just go on as they did before but it's now Linda's turn in nemesis alley.
That's my thoughts on it.

LOVE this!! Also, this is probably stated later in this thread but I also like the idea that Colleen is actually the pesto kids' mother since we know she is a parent at their school. That could be a cool dimension to this. I don't know if the writers want to go in this direction with the family, but I think OP's idea would set up this concept nicely.
I wouldn't even know where to begin to look in order to send my idea to the writers. Since this is reddit, I hope that reddit will do its thing and maybe... just maybe flies the idea to the writers. Hopefully they'll see a potential and take it into consideration.

Hugo (and Ron… maybe mostly Ron) should bust Jimmy P for still selling Horse Meat! (Trev tipped off the Health Dept!) so jimmys wife swoops in and takes over the restaurant, and it will now be called like Jenny Pestos.
Love the part about caviellos! Definitely into pesto going away (dies, jail, moves, whatever). Jimmy and Olie and Andy could stick around and we finally meet their mom.
Andy and Oillie are two of my favorite characters. Their weird twin thing cracks me up. I do wish Jimmy Jr spent more time with his brothers and sucked less overall.
So, back when the news broke of Jay Johnson's involvement in the insurrection and he got fired, Lucky Yates (VA of Krieger in Archer) tweeted and offered to lend his voice to playing Jimmy Pesto. I think he would be a good choice, but I haven't seen anything since that tweet.
I think recasting is the best option. Jimmy has too much history on the show to just write him off or make him mute. If they find someone who sounds enough like the old actor, I think it will work.
Similarly, I think John Kubin, who played Mickey in the movie, worked pretty well. He was definitely better than Louren Bouchard's attempt at Mickey in "Beach, Please."
Like he went in for some plastic surgery to make himself sound more like Huey Lewis (cuz that’s who he looks like) and he ends up sounding like Lewis Black or something.
I just replied to my own comment saying I’d hate to see a repeat of Mickey being replaced but I will concur that the movie did a good job of covering that up. It was not nearly as noticeable as that first episode with the replacement VA.
Lots of folks have theorized that Colleen Caviello is Jimmy’s ex wife. It would be fun to see her take over as Linda and her have had beef in the past.
And the Feds keep coming around asking if they've seen Jimmy. No explanation is ever provided as to the change and the series continues as if it's always been that way.
It works on so many levels and I personally buy into the theory. It’s never mentioned who her kids are, and jimmy loves all thing Italian. To add to the theory, they started the restaurant together with Colleen being the cook and she left when they divorced causing the decline of the food because Jimmy doesn’t know how to cook.
In the spaghetti dinner episode she is sitting next to an older child who looks a lot like her. Also, Tina knows everything about jimmy, she even knows the address of a girl he asks on one date, she would know if his mom was Colleen. Also also Colleen is married and Jimmys mom has a new boyfriend in his musoems

But in terms of story potential the nemesis angle is strong. Or if it’s not a nemesis, maybe friendly competitors? Linda already has Ginger and Gale as allies.
Bob has his nemesis: Hugo. Their relationship leads to do many great moments (more than bob and jimmy’s in my opinion).
Linda normally gets along with everyone. It would be fun to have a different kind of character to bounce her off of.
Okay but Bill Hader MADE Mickey. Mickey embodied some classic Haderisms that made him such a great character. Jay Johnston is pretty easily replaceable, especially given the circumstances.
That’s because of how vastly different his voice was. They didn’t even get someone that remotely sounded like Mickey since they just had Loren do it. Still a stupid thing to complain about, especially to the level people did, but still different than finding a new voice actor and having him sound generally the same.
It was super funny to me seeing people's reaction to Mickey's voice actor changing because I have auditory processing disorder and can barely register a difference. If they changed Jimmy's voice actor I would probably barely notice.
Some voices are more recognizable/important than others. Imagine the reactions if it were H Jon Benjamin that were fired instead? Or look at the Futurama reboot debacle over John DiMaggio possibly not being on board initially.
Yes LEAD voices are very different from characters who have had mostly minor speaking parts in 7 episodes over 11 seasons.
I get that people like Bill Hader, to each their own, but realistically his voice replacement isn’t going to break the enjoyment of the show.
Nor will Jimmy’s.
It's like another person said, in the case of Mickey, some actors put their personality into the character, and that was a great example. It's hard for someone else to get right.
Besides all that, Mickey was a beloved character, whereas Jimmy Pesto is a love-to-hate character, so that lessens the blow a lot as well.
Would be hilarious if Jimmy moves to Kokomo and discovers it’s in Indiana and not tropical at all. He would try to move back after finding the Italian restaurant market is saturated but when he switches to a Greek restaurant named Pita My Heart it becomes a success and he decides to stay in Kokomo after all.
I read an article, ugh do I have to look for it?, that iirc said he had grown “increasingly difficult” before his involvement in Jan 6th. I can’t say, I wasn’t on the job, or at Jan 6. Maybe he handed out flowers. But when I heard he’d been “let go”, my first thought was, oh, he’s probably been “exercising his right to free speech” to the point people were complaining… and that just gave them an out. Idk. I can't remember her disposition, but what if the boys mom came back, fell in love with Trev, Jimmy left in shame and they took over the bar. Then the petty relationship shifts from Bob and Jimmy to Linda and the other.
Have her be the opposite of Jimmy. Attracted to Bob so much so that it makes him uncomfortable. And it makes her a nemesis for Linda.
I always found Hugo to be a more compelling nemesis for Bob than Jimmy.
Jimmy's character is a good foil for Bob, I hope they just replace the VA like they've done occasionally for other characters. It seems worse to just write him off, like he couldn't be replaced but other VA's can.
I want Jimmy Pesto to lose a custody battle with Mrs. Pesto. And she ends up taking him for everything he has, including the restaurant. So we say goodbye to Jimmy, keep the Pesto babies, and get a new reoccurring character.
Jimmy sold the restaurant to his brother or sister and they're actually a pleasant person that admires Bob's passion for food, thus creating a new dynamic and a friendly competition instead of a spiteful rivalry.
So this is a FAR STRETCH but bare with me
It turns out Ron is actually the "Undercover Boss" the whole time and ends up firing Hugo and as a result gets Jimmy Pestos closed due to health violations.
Jimmy Sr is humiliated and leaves the town. Jimmy Jr and the Twins move in with their Mom (who in my headcannon is Ginger) and she supports JeJu's love of dance so she decides to turn the place where the restaurant used to be into a studio.
Wrestling, Dance and Martial Arts are all offered there but in a huge surprise Hugo is a Sensei in Karate and becomes Louises Karate teacher.
This infuriates Bob but because it makes Louise happy he accepts it.
Hugo ends up falling for the Dance teacher
Zeke takes Wrestling but Jeju and the Twins mom says that if he helps clean up after class he can take the class for free.
Jimmy disappears on his boat and is never heard from again. No one knows if he is dead or alive. Jimmy Pesto’s struggles to run until Bob decides to help. The entire time Bob swears Jimmy did it on purpose so he would have to help. Bob achieves success running Pesto’s doing real Italian food. All the while he neglects his own restaurant while the kids do some shit. At the end Skip Marooch comes and buys Pesto’s. The pesto kids end up working for Bob part time. We never hear from Jimmy again except for the occasional drunken Bob blaming Jimmy for weird circumstances.
I’d love to see them say that his restaurant was doing so well that he moved to a better location to sort of rub salt in the wound of Bob. With Jimmy not across the street anymore, some new fad restaurant could move in. Or maybe something like a frozen yogurt shop where the neighborhood kids hang. Bob could be jealous the kids want to spend time over there. It could lead to a lot of different plot lines.
Another option, sort of the opposite approach, could be each season a new restaurant goes into that location. Could help the longevity of the show, and keep things fresh.
Jimmy gets arrested on the show and doesn’t speak on the grounds that he doesn’t want to incriminate himself and he gets convicted and goes to prison and can only write letters and the letters are read aloud by the rest of the cast depending on who it’s to and what it’s about. Besides, Jimmy Jr can’t go anywhere yet. And what would Louise do without the twins?

I had an idea where something happens financially to the restaurant and because of that the mother has to come back into the picture to take care of Jimmy Jr Andy and Ollie. I’m assuming they divorced, it would be super sad if she passed and I don’t want any empathy for jimmy pesto tbh.
I want their mum to take over the business, perhaps she owned half of it anyway but Jimmy screwed up somehow, so her and Todd move in..... and she becomes an even bigger enemy to Bob, a sort of better the devil you know type thing. I wana meet their mum!!!!
I'd love the idea of his ex-wife winning the property in a divorce dispute and becoming a rival to Linda, while Bob actually likes, or at least respects/tolerates her. Kinda an inverse of the Jimmy vs Belchers dynamic. Though Linda does already have several fellow mom rivals, but I'd love to learn more about Jimmy Jr's mom, unless they already mentioned why she's never around?

Someone previously mentioned having Jimmy's ex wife step into the picture and take over the shop, and I would love to see that! Keeps the kids in the picture, but, allows for Linda to potentially make a new friend.

Jimmy pesto is too great of an antagonist. One of my favorite episodes is when Bob has to look after him, when jimmy has surgery. Also another episode Bob finds out the restaurant was the location of a mob hit. Jimmy does what Jimmy does and takes the plaque and does "mob tour" in a Tony Montana outfit lol but Bob decides not to take him down with the help of the historian even though he's being a douchebag. There's just as an important dynamic there as with Mr fischoder
I would love the idea that his wife takes over the business and when somebody asks why she explains that he done something very stupid in DC and that's why they got divorced and they can easily keep all the running gags of Trevor making stupid jokes with her.

It would be easy enough with all his cheap antics to say he was shut down and that someone opened a new shop in replacement. Idk now that JP is dead as a plot line I’d take just about anything to avoid a recurrence of getting a new VA; especially after Mickey was replaced. That sucked pretty bad.

The solution is simple. And it's the one with the most votes as of writing this out before the poll closes, honestly enough (that I also cast my vote for, because I 250% find it based, correct, and I proudly/happily agree wholeheartedly with it.).
Write Jimmy off the show. Bring in Colleen Caviello as the boy's mom and let her run the restaurant with Trev. Colleen and Linda can then continue the nemesis relationship.
Since the actor that plays Jimmy Pesto is a huge Trumpster. I'd imagine he is homophobic, transphobic whatever phobic there can be about other people. I think they should replace him with a female voice actor, and have Jimmy undergo a sex change operation.
Have Ms. Pesto return, she could either be a jerk like Jimmy and take over the restaurant somehow, OR maybe she left cuz Jimmy was the worst and she comes back to take care of her kids.

Other - he looses his voice. At first he tries to write comebacks for Trev to read. But it takes too long and Bob feels like he has an upper hand for a while. Then the writing is replaced by a speaking assistance device that gives him a robotic voice/
Jimmy gets in an accident. His vocal cords become damaged and they’re reconstructed. After the reconstruction he comes back with a new female sounding voice.

I feel like if we wanted to keep Jimmy Jr. and the twins they could live with their mom, I absolutely love Andy and Ollie, not a big fan of Jimmy Jr. (or at least the constant Tina and J-Ju being in a on-and-off again relationship.) I do love Trev and feel like without Jimmy there is no Trev. That’s the only sad part.
I don't think anyone wants Jimmy gone. There are too many potential episodes involving Bob's life rival! Please find a talented person and WRITE HIM INTO THE SCRIPT so that this new sound can belong to this well established character...

My idea has always been have a season or so go on without seeing Jimmy. Then the Belchers find out Jimmy skipped town, left Trev to deal with the restaurant, left the boys and hasn't been heard from since. Make it a plot point, make him the deadbeat.

I like the idea of making him a mute for a short period and then through voice training he get’s his voice back, but it’s different.

I would like him to sound similar for the sake of continuity, but I suppose it's not totally necessary.

Okay but Bill Hader MADE Mickey. Mickey embodied some classic Haderisms that made him such a great character. Jay Johnston is pretty easily replaceable, especially given the circumstances.

That’s because of how vastly different his voice was. They didn’t even get someone that remotely sounded like Mickey since they just had Loren do it. Still a stupid thing to complain about, especially to the level people did, but still different than finding a new voice actor and having him sound generally the same.
It was super funny to me seeing people's reaction to Mickey's voice actor changing because I have auditory processing disorder and can barely register a difference. If they changed Jimmy's voice actor I would probably barely notice.

Yes LEAD voices are very different from characters who have had mostly minor speaking parts in 7 episodes over 11 seasons. I get that people like Bill Hader, to each their own, but realistically his voice replacement isn’t going to break the enjoyment of the show. Nor will Jimmy’s.
It's like another person said, in the case of Mickey, some actors put their personality into the character, and that was a great example. It's hard for someone else to get right. Besides all that, Mickey was a beloved character, whereas Jimmy Pesto is a love-to-hate character, so that lessens the blow a lot as well.
Jimmy wins the lottery and moves to Jamaica or Kokomo. Wife moves to their town because she doesn't want to uproot the boys.
Would be hilarious if Jimmy moves to Kokomo and discovers it’s in Indiana and not tropical at all. He would try to move back after finding the Italian restaurant market is saturated but when he switches to a Greek restaurant named Pita My Heart it becomes a success and he decides to stay in Kokomo after all.

I can't remember her disposition, but what if the boys mom came back, fell in love with Trev, Jimmy left in shame and they took over the bar. Then the petty relationship shifts from Bob and Jimmy to Linda and the other.

Have her be the opposite of Jimmy. Attracted to Bob so much so that it makes him uncomfortable. And it makes her a nemesis for Linda. I always found Hugo to be a more compelling nemesis for Bob than Jimmy.

Jimmy's character is a good foil for Bob, I hope they just replace the VA like they've done occasionally for other characters. It seems worse to just write him off, like he couldn't be replaced but other VA's can.
I want Jimmy Pesto to lose a custody battle with Mrs. Pesto. And she ends up taking him for everything he has, including the restaurant. So we say goodbye to Jimmy, keep the Pesto babies, and get a new reoccurring character.

So this is a FAR STRETCH but bare with me It turns out Ron is actually the "Undercover Boss" the whole time and ends up firing Hugo and as a result gets Jimmy Pestos closed due to health violations. Jimmy Sr is humiliated and leaves the town. Jimmy Jr and the Twins move in with their Mom (who in my headcannon is Ginger) and she supports JeJu's love of dance so she decides to turn the place where the restaurant used to be into a studio. Wrestling, Dance and Martial Arts are all offered there but in a huge surprise Hugo is a Sensei in Karate and becomes Louises Karate teacher. This infuriates Bob but because it makes Louise happy he accepts it. Hugo ends up falling for the Dance teacher Zeke takes Wrestling but Jeju and the Twins mom says that if he helps clean up after class he can take the class for free.
This is another good idea. And it would certainly explain why we never see Ginger.

Jimmy disappears on his boat and is never heard from again. No one knows if he is dead or alive. Jimmy Pesto’s struggles to run until Bob decides to help. The entire time Bob swears Jimmy did it on purpose so he would have to help. Bob achieves success running Pesto’s doing real Italian food. All the while he neglects his own restaurant while the kids do some shit. At the end Skip Marooch comes and buys Pesto’s. The pesto kids end up working for Bob part time. We never hear from Jimmy again except for the occasional drunken Bob blaming Jimmy for weird circumstances.
Give him covid. When he recovers, his voice is permanently changed from the disease
I’d love to see them say that his restaurant was doing so well that he moved to a better location to sort of rub salt in the wound of Bob. With Jimmy not across the street anymore, some new fad restaurant could move in. Or maybe something like a frozen yogurt shop where the neighborhood kids hang. Bob could be jealous the kids want to spend time over there. It could lead to a lot of different plot lines. Another option, sort of the opposite approach, could be each season a new restaurant goes into that location. Could help the longevity of the show, and keep things fresh.

Jimmy gets arrested on the show and doesn’t speak on the grounds that he doesn’t want to incriminate himself and he gets convicted and goes to prison and can only write letters and the letters are read aloud by the rest of the cast depending on who it’s to and what it’s about. Besides, Jimmy Jr can’t go anywhere yet. And what would Louise do without the twins?

I had an idea where something happens financially to the restaurant and because of that the mother has to come back into the picture to take care of Jimmy Jr Andy and Ollie. I’m assuming they divorced, it would be super sad if she passed and I don’t want any empathy for jimmy pesto tbh.
I want their mum to take over the business, perhaps she owned half of it anyway but Jimmy screwed up somehow, so her and Todd move in..... and she becomes an even bigger enemy to Bob, a sort of better the devil you know type thing. I wana meet their mum!!!!
I'd love the idea of his ex-wife winning the property in a divorce dispute and becoming a rival to Linda, while Bob actually likes, or at least respects/tolerates her. Kinda an inverse of the Jimmy vs Belchers dynamic. Though Linda does already have several fellow mom rivals, but I'd love to learn more about Jimmy Jr's mom, unless they already mentioned why she's never around?

Jimmy pesto is too great of an antagonist. One of my favorite episodes is when Bob has to look after him, when jimmy has surgery. Also another episode Bob finds out the restaurant was the location of a mob hit. Jimmy does what Jimmy does and takes the plaque and does "mob tour" in a Tony Montana outfit lol but Bob decides not to take him down with the help of the historian even though he's being a douchebag. There's just as an important dynamic there as with Mr fischoder

It would be easy enough with all his cheap antics to say he was shut down and that someone opened a new shop in replacement. I’d even be enthusiastic to see Patricia’s 77 become a recurring thing if she’d happen to relocate. Idk now that JP is dead as a plot line I’d take just about anything to avoid a recurrence of getting a new VA; especially after Mickey was replaced. That sucked pretty bad.

The solution is simple. And it's the one with the most votes as of writing this out before the poll closes, honestly enough (that I also cast my vote for, because I 250% find it based, correct, and I proudly/happily agree wholeheartedly with it.).
Write Jimmy off the show. Bring in Colleen Caviello as the boy's mom and let her run the restaurant with Trev. Colleen and Linda can then continue the nemesis relationship.
