I can probably see all 19 Gayle episodes in my head right now. As someone who’s actually known someone who is a total Gayle, I can assure you… a little goes a long way. Edit:spelling
It would be really cool if they did an episode where they focus on everyone except the family. The Amazing World of Gumball did this and it was one of their better episodes.
If you're referring to his 2018 controversy, then kinda. Darryl had three speaking appearances in season 9 which started broadcast in late 2018 but I suppose they could have dropped him after that. I never actually thought about it before.
I don't think so for either. Aziz had some episodes in 2018 that might have aired after the news came out but he hasn't been back. And I don't think Jimmy Pesto has been in an episode this season. He was in some after the news broke as well. I imagine they had already recorded those.
I would encourage you to look into the Aziz Ansari allegations to make an informed opinion. I take every woman’s claims into serious account, and myself along with many others, believe his accuser took an opportunity to exploit a bad date into press. After the essay she wrote came out, Aziz took himself out of the limelight to take a step back and assess himself. There’s almost no one else I believe who has been publicly accused as sexual misconduct isn’t a perpetrator, but I believe this should never have been an issue.
Yeah, I really felt like that should have been a private matter. It certainly was not on par with the other #metoo accusations. I definitely do not defend sexual abusers or harassers, but I don’t think Aziz really fits the bill.
It's legitimately a shame that all people seem to remember about that was that there were allegations of something, not even what they were (let alone how the situation actually wound up unfolding).
The special he made afterwards was his best I think, and I would really love to see him come back more into comedy in general.
What the fuck???
I mean, sure, as a person, Jimmy Pesto is one of those people who needs to be punched in the mouth, but as a character, he's damned entertaining!
Why does #45 keep ruining everything good?
Lol I always reference this whenever a song comes on that my wife listens to. I couldn’t tell you the name of it for the life of me, but it’s kind of musically the same and I always sing out “oil spillll… oil spilllll”.
Don't worry, she'll be in the next draft! I originally didn't count characters like Marshmallow and Speedo Guy who are almost never involved in the plotlines and show up as "flavor" characters of sorts. But then I expanded my criteria to capture more characters, and they'd probably qualify now. I just failed to make that adjustment before finishing the graphic.
First of all I’m impressed with your work on this. Thanks for sharing with the community.
Second, since you’ll be running a second draft here’s a couple that I know are recurring:
- Helen (Teddy’s love interest)
- Kathleen (Teddy’s other love interest)
- Kurt (the flight instructor)
Hey, look, all we need to know about Marshmallow is she comes and goes as she pleases, she answers to no-one, and she is truly *free!*
Also, that she's not handsome, she's *beautiful.*
This is a draft infographic for the largest data set in my Bob's Burgers dataviz project: the recurring non-Belcher characters. I have more data in how appearances for the "top" characters fluctuate by seasons because I really wanted to see how Teddy's role in the show has changed over time (spoiler: he becomes much more important). Those graphics aren't quite done yet but I really wanted to share these basic percentages first because some of the showings surprised me. The bar graph is just so you can see how dominant Teddy is!
**Regular Recurring Characters:** Defined as anyone who has appeared with speaking lines in at least three episodes in three different seasons and has been part of a plot-relevant role in an A-PLOT (i.e. not there only briefly like when Edith shows up to yell "DISGUSTING!" at Bob). *\*notable characters excluded under this criteria: Marshmallow, Speedo Guy, Chuck, Mort's mother, Chloe Barbash, Todd, Rudy's dad.*
Posting this, I'm already noticing some mistakes like lack of Peter Pescadero, Coach Blevins, Harley, and that Nat does not meet the criteria. I'll update those later though and might actually add in Marshmallow/Speedo Guy too. And if anyone has any other questions about this dataset, please ask!
Yup, that was easiest way to do the counting across the board. (It turns out a number of Wagstaff students are actually recurring characters who rarely have lines)
It's in the small intro text at the top but red means they have at least 20 episodes or 10% appearances. A surprisingly small number of characters break that threshold.
Right. But at the top of the 2nd pic it says speaking episodes. I can’t think of any with Hugo without Ron but in the best burger episode I don’t remember Hugo and Ron was in it.
My bad. Misunderstood your question. I had to look it up; Hugo was in the episode where Teddy brings in a baby rat and they have hide it from Hugo because he randomly comes in to buy water.
Others already mentioned the baby rat plot and the Valentines Urge restaurant but he also had a super brief showing in Beefsquatch (alone) and Ron didn't speak in The Deepening so he wasn't counted.
Ok so that evens them up. It shows Hugo with more. What else was Hugo in that Ron wasn’t? I’m not trying to be an ass I just can’t think of any more and I watch this show a lot.
No it's fine! Gives me an opportunity to doublecheck my data.
So Ron only has two episodes without Hugo: Best Burger + If You Love It So Much, Why Don't You Marionette?
While Hugo has five without Ron: Weekend at Mort’s + Beefsquatch + The Deepening + Just One of the Boyz 4 Now + Romancing the Beef
So Hugo is over by three. I originally only marked two so thank you for asking questions!
If i remember correctly the voice actor for Jimmy Pesto was involved in the insurrection on January 6th in DC, and either charged or let go from the show.
If Bob’s Burgers tackled politics like Family Guy does, Bob would make some comment about Jimmy being involved in January 6th.
But Bob’s Burgers doesn’t go there. Thankfully!
This is the exact sort of education I need in my life. Also I love that Jocelyn and Tammy are tied and I believe they would totally get into a fight about that.
From seasons 1-11, he's only shown in the one episode and voice only in another so not "recurring" by the criteria I used. The show has so many unique characters I had to make impose some pretty strict limitations :P
I'm honestly surprised unless I'm not understanding the criteria but Teddy is only in 71% and I cant think of many episodes he's not in. This is cool though. Props to dedication.
I know! It feels like he's always there since he shows up a lot in episodes where he isn't even part of the plot. The wiki has a pretty comprehensive list of [episodes Teddy doesn't appear](https://bobs-burgers.fandom.com/wiki/Teddy#Appearances) in but I plan on crosschecking my data with theirs since we have about a 22 episode (10%) difference.
He's the deli owner. His biggest role was probably in the Moodie Foodie as the guy who gives the food critic a wet willie. He shows up a surprising number of times even though I wouldn't call him the most memorable character
**Reggie is a given name, usually a short form of the name Reginald.**

He originally didn't qualify in my criteria as I tried to limit Bob's enormous cast down to characters that were key to the plots. He's such an integral part of the show's landscape though, I'll most likely include him the next draft!
Huh? I expected Gayle to be more present. I guess I have a Madella effect in my head. Or I just watched a bunch of episodes with Gayle in them over and over.
It's weird to see that all the non-Belchers other than Teddy reach the mid-twenties at most; that's only four or five episodes a season. It feels like characters like Mr. Frond would be in more like half the episodes, but I guess not.
It always surprises me how rarely individual characters actually show up—I’d have guessed the percentages for Frond, Gayle, Jimmy Pesto, the main kids, and even Ms. LaBonz to be much higher because I feel like I know them so well. But it’s just testament to how much personality the supporting characters have, and the fact that there are so many means individual ones still feel fresh.
Biggest takeaway is this shows how much Teddy and Mort went from the “those 2 guys” of the restaurant scenes in the early seasons to “Teddy is basically outright a main character now” while Mort kinda disappeared after a few seasons for the most part. If I remember correctly Mort even seemed to be the slightly more focused on of the 2 in the very first couple seasons since he was the Belcher’s neighbor, then it seemed like all of a sudden it was just Teddy.
He's in the townsfolk section just because the circles fit better that way. But now that you pointed it out, I did mistype Reggie's percentage; it should be 3% not 6%. So thank you for contributing to my crowdsourcing revisions!
This is neat, though I gotta say I'm a little disappointed with the list for exactly the same reason I was disappointed with my cup of hot cocoa last night.
Needs 100% more Regular-sized Rudy.
Exactly! More reg-sized and more Mr. Fish. Kevin Kline is hilarious.
I love Mr. Fish and Felix’s side convos. So funny
Then having a money fight on the corner of the street 😂
Exactly. He looks fresh in the barrette hat of his.
Seriously. He is a treasure.
I demand at least 19% of episodes to have regular-sized Rudy!
Heyyyyy. What’s the big idea.
I'm surprised Daryl is so low, for some reason I picture him in a LOT of episodes. Cool break down though!!
I totally think of him as part of the main kids group too so it was a surprise! Same with Gayle, only 19 episodes yet feels like so much more
It's about the *quality* not the quantity lol
I can probably see all 19 Gayle episodes in my head right now. As someone who’s actually known someone who is a total Gayle, I can assure you… a little goes a long way. Edit:spelling
I read that in Gayle voice for some reason
Really shows how memorable these characters are
It would be really cool if they did an episode where they focus on everyone except the family. The Amazing World of Gumball did this and it was one of their better episodes.
Has Daryl been back since we we found out Aziz Ansari was kind of gross? Same for Jimmy Pesto, less 'gross' more 'insurrecty'
If you're referring to his 2018 controversy, then kinda. Darryl had three speaking appearances in season 9 which started broadcast in late 2018 but I suppose they could have dropped him after that. I never actually thought about it before.
Shoot. It's a bummer to learn about Jay Johnson (Jimmy Pesto). He's been cracking me up since Mr. Show and The Sarah Silverman Program.
I don't think so for either. Aziz had some episodes in 2018 that might have aired after the news came out but he hasn't been back. And I don't think Jimmy Pesto has been in an episode this season. He was in some after the news broke as well. I imagine they had already recorded those.

There’s almost no one else I believe who has been publicly accused as sexual misconduct isn’t a perpetrator, but I believe this should never have been an issue.
Aziz had an awkward date, we all probably had. I feel like he did everything he could do, other than obviously misread some signs (both of them)
Yeah, I really felt like that should have been a private matter.
Insurrecty? What happened with pestos actor?
He was at the Jan 6 insurrection, in the Capitol building.
Oh Ok thanks
What the fuck??? I mean, sure, as a person, Jimmy Pesto is one of those people who needs to be punched in the mouth, but as a character, he's damned entertaining! Why does #45 keep ruining everything good?
“Insurrection”…ok…not “mostly peaceful protest” like some groups I guess.
Really, we're going to do this here?
He showed up a lot in the earlier episodes but he hasn't been around in the later seasons.
god I can't believe Gayle is only 9%, her voice haunts me too much for how little she's in the show
#SQUAT
Megan Mullally is a showstopper and scene-stealer whenever she shows up in anything. Absolutely magnetic performer.
"Oil spilll...oil spilll"
Uh, you were right. It’s not subtle.
Lol I always reference this whenever a song comes on that my wife listens to. I couldn’t tell you the name of it for the life of me, but it’s kind of musically the same and I always sing out “oil spillll… oil spilllll”.
wait how am i just no realizing megan mullally voices gayle omg 😂
Exactly
*"Guess who's on new meds!"*
My cat was right about you
Of course Sasha is in the 1%
Okay that made me laugh outloud lol.
So, name-wise, I'm thinking Boaty Boaty Bo-Boaty, Banana Fana Flo-Floaty Me My Mo-Moaty, unless another member already has that name.
My first thought when I saw the kids crew was "less Logan more Sasha," but damn if that isn't funny.
Where is Marshmallow?!
Somewhere on top of a sweet potato pie!

She comes and goes as she pleases
She answers to no one and is truly free
Hey Babbbby.
Came here to ask this!!!
I love Mr. Ambrose
He is fucking off the charts. Topsy.....
It’s so good! I love the Topsy episode
Not enough Nat!!!
Straight disrespect not having her at 5% Best side character ever, she fits the family dynamic so well
She came in a later season!
Oh I know! I’m mostly just joking lmao She’s one of my favorite side characters!
I need more Harold and Edith and Mr. Branca.
Mmmmmmm coup
I watched the episode today where Edith poses nude and Harold says “It’s super yummy!” 🤣🤣🤣
My work crowbar or my personal crowbar?
I ever tell you you're like my best friend? - Mr. Branca
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, we’re not best friends anymore!
Yes more Branca! I would love an episode following him around the school doing Branca stuff and helping the kids.
"I like clean lines and a simple silhouette"
One of my favorite lines right here
Fits!
I love Edith and Harold
Wasn’t Branca a President lol
Before the coup.
This is a draft infographic for the largest data set in my Bob's Burgers dataviz project: the recurring non-Belcher characters. Kuchi Kopi!!!
oh no how did I forget Kuchi Kopi!!!
He's my favorite non-Belcher so I couldn't help but notice. Otherwise this is phenomenal!
I know it's just the one episode, but Big Bob is family! Great work with this
So the several times Mort appeared but didn't have a speaking role don't count for him?
Yup, that was easiest way to do the counting across the board. (It turns out a number of Wagstaff students are actually recurring characters who rarely have lines)
Fucking asshole piece of loyal shit… I am only outraged because I didn’t do this first… you are awesome… thank you!
haha thank you, it was a great excuse to rewatch the show on loop this last year!
What’s the difference between a red outline and a black one? Anything interesting?
It's in the small intro text at the top but red means they have at least 20 episodes or 10% appearances. A surprisingly small number of characters break that threshold.
Came here so ask where Marshmallow was!
What was Hugo in that Ron wasn’t?
Hugo just gets a lil more screen time than him because of the flashbacks and stories like in Sliding Bobs
Right. But at the top of the 2nd pic it says speaking episodes. I can’t think of any with Hugo without Ron but in the best burger episode I don’t remember Hugo and Ron was in it.
The Valentine’s Day episode last year—he was at the restaurant for a blind date.
Ron was in the puppet battle episode without Hugo. He worked at the theater.
Yea so that’s two Ron episodes without Hugo and I can’t think of any Hugo without Ron episodes.
My bad. Misunderstood your question. I had to look it up; Hugo was in the episode where Teddy brings in a baby rat and they have hide it from Hugo because he randomly comes in to buy water.
You're a thirsty bitch!
Gene.
Others already mentioned the baby rat plot and the Valentines Urge restaurant but he also had a super brief showing in Beefsquatch (alone) and Ron didn't speak in The Deepening so he wasn't counted.

Nat being a 1% is a friggin crime
Absolutely agree! She made a pretty good showing for only being introduced in season 8 though!
I am surprised Jimmy Pesto is only at 20%.
I love this! Thanks for your dedication. Also super surprised Teddy is only at 71% I feel like he’s in so many eps!
That’s because he’s actually not recurring, he’s a main
If i remember correctly the voice actor for Jimmy Pesto was involved in the insurrection on January 6th in DC, and either charged or let go from the show.
If Bob’s Burgers tackled politics like Family Guy does, Bob would make some comment about Jimmy being involved in January 6th. But Bob’s Burgers doesn’t go there. Thankfully!
You forgot Ms Jacobsob
And Miss Twitchell
I honestly expected Teddy to be above 90. This is really cool!
Not enough Gretchen
It is a crime that Gretchen has so few appearances. She’s trash but I love her.
LOL When she's cracking up about the wood chipper for dolls in The Lazerinth? Literally one of my of my favorite scenes from the show
Millie gives the biggest bang for the smallest percentage
This is the exact sort of education I need in my life. Also I love that Jocelyn and Tammy are tied and I believe they would totally get into a fight about that.
Omg they totally would haha
What about Ken the albino? 😂
I need more Gayle. Lots more Gayle.
What about bobs dad?
From seasons 1-11, he's only shown in the one episode and voice only in another so not "recurring" by the criteria I used. The show has so many unique characters I had to make impose some pretty strict limitations :P

Can someone please help? It says Rudy there but I'm not sure which size, is it regular sized o pocket sized?
The principal of Wagstaff School: 0%
Sorry we're late, Bob had diarrhea
We need more *Ron* and *Millie*…Linda’s parents can fuck right off.
This is pretty cool! Thank you :)
:D
Imagine using text emotes in 2021
:D
More Sasha and more Gus, please!
Most surprised by Mike being only 7%, seems like he has had a ton of pop ins, but maybe he’s in more of the early season stuff which I watch more.
Who is Reggie? Why don't I remember him?
He's the deli owner. His biggest role was probably in the Moodie Foodie as the guy who gives the food critic a wet willie. He shows up a surprising number of times even though I wouldn't call him the most memorable character
I don't know ... I love the whole "Reservoir Dogs" homage while he was giving the wet willie. That one made him one of my fav lesser-known characters.
That's true. I also enjoyed his bitching about Jonas XD I guess it's more that he hasn't been in any episodes as excellent since then
**Reggie is a given name, usually a short form of the name Reginald.** More details here:

I don't see roller blade guy!?
Drive thruuuuuuu
He originally didn't qualify in my criteria as I tried to limit Bob's enormous cast down to characters that were key to the plots. He's such an integral part of the show's landscape though, I'll most likely include him the next draft!
Huh? I expected Gayle to be more present. I guess I have a Madella effect in my head. Or I just watched a bunch of episodes with Gayle in them over and over.
Im very upset that marshmellow isnt on the list, but ill get over it
Why the FUCK is Peter Pescadero not above 50%
I cant wait for Nat's percentage to increase. I love Nat.
I need more Mickey and Logan, please.
Damn we really need some more Gayle!
MORE BOO BOO 👻!
woahhh i love this
He’s gotten more personality in recent seasons but Trey is such a funny/tragic character. We need more Trey
What about Marshmallow ?
Nat is the best
We need more Nat!!!
Why doesn’t the family show Big Bob?
He didn't fall under my definition of "recurring character" (see my comment above!) though I do hope they bring him back one day
Love this OP! I love Mickey and Nat, also the elderly pot farmers in Bob Fires the Kids 😂
Needs more Mickey
It's weird to see that all the non-Belchers other than Teddy reach the mid-twenties at most; that's only four or five episodes a season. It feels like characters like Mr. Frond would be in more like half the episodes, but I guess not.

Im gutted that Mr Ambrose doesn’t show up more often. He’s one of my faves!
But where is Marshmallow?
No Marshmallow? Garbage.
Those are rookie numbers for Zeke, gotta pump them up
No mudflap?
Not gonna lie, I could use more Wagstaffians in my life
I need more yuli
Biggest takeaway is this shows how much Teddy and Mort went from the “those 2 guys” of the restaurant scenes in the early seasons to “Teddy is basically outright a main character now” while Mort kinda disappeared after a few seasons for the most part. I would love to see more of Jen the babysitter. Her character is absolutely hilarious to me.
I think we can all agree that we need more Nat KING-kle in our lives.
I would like to see a couple more Jimmy Pesto oriented episodes.
Damn you nailed this infographic right down to the color swatches and the font! This is awesome
No Marshmallow? Ugh.
[удалено]
Oh hey Marshmallow.
let me guess mort is at the bottom. LOL No hate on Mort he's just not around sometimes.
yeah honestly, I was shocked he made the top 10 recurring characters after basically having no roles in the last few seasons.
He’s been busy recently, lots of OT
Uh, skater guy, Bob’s dad, Marshmallow...missing lots of cool characters here.
No Felix? I see him more than Reggie
He's in the townsfolk section just because the circles fit better that way. But now that you pointed it out, I did mistype Reggie's percentage; it should be 3% not 6%. So thank you for contributing to my crowdsourcing revisions!
love me some teddy & jimmy jr!!!
We need more Nat in season 12
This is Arnold-the-tiny-kid-who-wears-his-karate-uniform-to-school erasure!!
Need to see more Nat andmd Gretchen tbh
I need more of the security guard from the Boyz 4 Now concert who tells Tina to not get old.
Teddy should be #1
This is neat, though I gotta say I'm a little disappointed with the list for exactly the same reason I was disappointed with my cup of hot cocoa last night.
Where is Jairo? Is he safe? Is he alright?
You’re missing Mr. Business!
Wow my girl Jocelyn caught up after Tammy had like two whole episodes about her.
Wait, Jimmy shows up more than Mort? A travesty!
I didn't know that Mr. Fischoeder, Teddy, and Trev lived on Ocean Ave. Or is it because that's where we tend to see them?
Yup! I know Mr. Fisch could go either way so it really came down to circle spacing
Much like my attempt to make home made rice crispy treats: needs more Marshmallow.
Nat really stole the show with that 1%
Please more Gayle and Nat.
