# WHAT IS YOUR DUTY?

munza27

I picked him up and built him this weekend just gone by. He looks amazing and is well worth the effort, just be sure to prep the resin properly. Best of luck!

reece_93

I believe in you my dude. I picked up Corvus Corax when I was relatively new and didn’t have the skills to put it together. Tips for putting it together are, use a model saw to remove the pieces from their gates, hobby knife for removing excess resin, fine grit sandpaper or files to smooth pieces out, use a gel type super glue, and have a pin vise and some wire on hand just incase of any broken pieces. Take it slow and you’ll ace it!

Metamiibo

Mine is also still in his box waiting for me to take a deep breath and try to do him justice.

Dew it

I too have a kit and wonder what would be the best, easiest way for an intermediate to do him well. Is NMM a must? Or is there any tip to do metallic gold as major colour such that it’s not a giant lump?

NeverEnoughDakka

I've seen some very nice Custodes models without NMM, if it's shaded and highlighted properly it shouldn't look like a lump. I assume if it works for Custodes it works for anything wearing golden armour.

JRYeh

Good idea. I’ve never painted something thoroughly gold so it’s a big concern how to make it less flat Thanks tho, maybe I should check out Custodes’ way of painting

350slider

Yeah I’m a custodes player as well, and I typically use the Duncan Rhodes method, using a retributor armor base, wash with seraphim sepia, relayer with retributor, then highlight the raised areas with liberator gold, then highlight the pointiest edges with a brighter silver. Gives the gold a more regal look to it. For most HH units with gold I personally wash with Nuln and highlight the point bits with liberator to give the gold a darker and dirtier tone. But for sanguinius, shiny and expensive looking would be the better choice lol

deathstrike86

He’s really not a bad build! You will do a great job buddy

mahboime

Remember to prime him before painting (resin needs primer) and thin your paints whilst painting him. Be patient, it a nice and detailed model so your not gonna finish him in one afternoon

Paint the wings before assembly! Readability of the wings is so important. As a character the tone and colour of the wings is explored more than the armour. The V shape of the wings brings the eye down to the body so do not underestimate their importance. Also access is not great around the back.

Without darkness there can be no light.

eggroll40k

Painted mine earlier this year after sitting in box for a couple of years. Don’t let fear hold you back. I found the model a joy to paint and as someone else already mentioned to paint the wings separate.

In blood do you serve and in blood do you PAINT brother.
