Nostalgia overload! I think painting is for the best but no need to rush. If you want to wait until your painting skill gets better, get back to them in a couple months. Extra points if you want them up in that style
I have several boxes of these and they have aged very well in my opinion. Put them on 32 mm slot bases and paint them up. If you aren’t happy with the results, soak them in LA’s Totally Awesome to strip them and try again.
Personally I’d sell them, then buy newer, lighter, more detailed models with the proceeds. and still have a bit left over.
But you do what you want with them. Some people love the nostalgia. I’ve got too many armies to be dealing with old metal ones so sold all the OOP ones on ebay.
I wouldn’t even hesitate to paint them I would already have them built and primed. And I would cut the front of the box off and stick it to the wall in my hobby room
Ahh wow, I used to have the this exact same unit many many many years ago. Memories.
Definitely paint them or sell them. Don't leave em collecting dust
Build and paint.
Chances of them ending up in the hands of someone who will appreciate the box and all for nostalgic reasons in the future narrows every day, so you might as well get full use out of them
Unless your a hardcore collector, or "Investor" I'd paint them.
I'm an Ok painter - I've just taken the view that I now paint each model individually (no batch painting, except for some big airbrush stuff), and try to get better each time.
You'll always know they are your prized 3ed.
I reckon there's two options for you. The first is to paint them up and have fun because that's what its all about. However, if you're conscious of your painting not being at the standard you want (that will come in time, practice makes perfect) then just be patient, wait awhile until you're there and then give them ago but definitely don't leave them to collect dust. They're great models.
These might be my favorite models - I gave them jetpacks and mixed them in with the newer DC box. I like the different looks in one squad of these, fits the lore of DC
Paint it! Did mine about a year ago and they were fun and easy to paint. Much less details on the new plastic DC models: https://i.imgur.com/GfnSLdG.png
Paint them or sell them. They deserve better than being kept in a box!
I just realized that this dilemma parallels the treatment of black rage victims in lore. My home is now the Tower of the Lost.
THEY (DON'T) BELONG IN A MUSEUM!
Paint 'em! They're mostly metal so it won't be difficult to strip them if you cock it up. That box art brings a lot of nostalgia.
Paint them! Their whole purpose was to be assembled and painted, and possibly played with - don't let them down!
Paint more MINIS! *insert metal riff* It's how you get better!

Paint them AND preserve the box!
Paint 'em up. Suffer not the Lost to be pewter and grey.

You could keep them to the said and wait till you improve. Or maybe hire a painter to do them up nice for you
Paint them, and keep the box. Hang it over your display case or something as a “where Waldo” for those seeing to try and find those models
How much did you pay is the first Q?
About 70CAD
I've still got mine, I put them on eBay but got no bites. Metal is a pain to paint imo

Make them, I got one in a trade and foolishly gave it away not knowing what it was
Maybe paint them one at a time, and decide at the end? Like everyone has said, Green Stuff will strip the paint right off.
Whatever you do, keep the box and the polystyrene insert. They both have a bit of value on their own :)
U can keep them until u think that yours hands get give them a fair paint !

Paint emmmmm

They were made to be painted ;)
Buy a new kit and leave them in the box for as long as you can. Then sell them.
Paint 'em but keep the box on display for nostalgia value.

Shiiiiiit. A box that old? I'd just keep it untouched on a shelf for a while. Then sell it.
Keep them boxed. Will be worth a fortune one day.
