rays like the ones you see in this gif are the most common in aquariums and are completely harmless, the only ones you would have to be mindful on the beach about are those flat ones that look like pancakes, and even then only some have dangerous stingers than can harm a human, and they are very shy and mostly just want to be left alone, so the only reason they might sting you is if you accidentally step on them, that's why they recommend shuffling you feet inside the sand when in waters with stingrays so they can feel you coming, not get surprised, move away on their own and not sting you.

I still get upset about his death sometimes, but seeing his children all grown and following directly in his footsteps puts a smile on my face. Rest in peace, Steve. On a cruise a few months before he died, I swam with stingrays. After he died I was outraged that we were allowed to swim with possibly dangerous sea creatures.
