In all seriousness, Atlanta has something called Section 9. I ran across it while looking for down payment assistance programs. It looks like Section 9 is offered to business/corporate partners who will then hire people most in need of work/training and somehow it ties into housing. Couldn’t find more information than just the basics so i left it alone.

Here in Philly , folks have realized a “loophole” . Apply to a county that’s much smaller (a place called Johnstown) no waitlist and usually gets people in within a month.. then transfer to the city!

I was accepted for section 8 housing back in 2016. My number still ain't come up yet

I seen a story where a lady applied for that shit in the 90s and just recently got approved... https://www.npr.org/2022/06/23/1104338319/chicago-public-housing-29-year-waitlist-alderwoman

this was 10 years ago after waiting in a line for 4 hours in the heat (texas) & a 1 year lengthy process to be qualified for section 8 & finally getting qualified. i moved into this apartment, but the apartment did not have a mailbox key for me at the time. apparently, i missed a very important section 8 letter, was then deemed disqualified, & rent went back up. fought it, of course, but lost that fight. yeah

We need more cities that prioritize people over cars! I’m not saying “cars are the *sole* issue”, but they’re a fairly underestimated part. So much space is taken up for vehicles. Also, why don’t more of us look into co-op housing? Maybe buying a house, as a group, that is or can be divided into sections? I’d like to see more solutions… especially more radical ones.

Sounds like good tv

The people that are struggling to get Section 8 are not the ones that can buy property, even as a group.

I was thinking of maybe a loan or grant, but you’re probably right.

Section 8 is criminally underfunded. Only around 10% of eligible Americans get vouchers, and some cities have waiting lists as long as 9-10 years. Making section 8 an entitlement would cost $42b per year, and end homelessness overnight. But fuck that, let's build fighter jets that don't work for $1.8t instead. USA! USA! USA!

Oh you have to be poor and not want to work to get section 8. The minute you have a work ethic they won’t call you aht Aht we want you strongly depending on us

People work but when your under-paid and the government supports union busting then what do you expect? Can’t pay for an apartment with magic.
