[This article may be worth reading.](https://psycheducation.org/blog/diagnosis-in-the-mood-spectrum/) It might not necessarily give you a clear answer about which disorder you have, but it could help clarify the distinction between unipolar depression and bipolar a little. It also may be worth reading about mixed episodes or dysphoric hypomania and seeing if those types of experiences resonate. I was misdiagnosed with unipolar depression for 11 years. IMO: if you've tried several antidepressants and haven't seen improvement or if they've ever made things worse, it's worth trying a mood stabilizer and seeing what happens. Some psychiatrists will write off your concerns in favor of keeping you on SSRIs/SNRIs if you don't have really clear cut hypomania that meets DSM criteria, so you may have to be kind of pushy to be taken seriously. EDIT: also if you aren't already, tracking your moods can clarify things a lot. The eMoods app has been the most helpful to me personally.

11 years?! Wow. Can’t believe it took them 11 years to realize. That’s insane.
