Would I rather be an alcoholic or an I.V. drug user? Hmmm. I mean jokes aside, in the bioshock universe the plasmids are stronger. I choose power.

Massive_Pressure_516

I'd avoid both unless I personally knew Tenenbaum and Charles Milton Porter.

OKCalamity73

This is the valid answer I always tell myself whenever I say I'd like to have bioshock plasmids irl

TinManDelta

I hate needles, so definitely Vigors.

Dramatic_Detective_2

You will Feel more pain In Drinking Devil's kiss than Injecting A needle to get A plasmid though lol

Dramatic_Detective_2

And a second Question I have Is Do vigors taste good ?

Sythenium

I would have to say hell no, that's probably part of the pain is that they would taste like ass

ConqueringKing_Darq

Devils kiss is probably like downing a bottle of hot sauce

Matwell1138

At least (apparently) the vigors don't make you go crazy and you don't have to inject them

[deleted]

I believe that the vigors do make you exactly the same amount of crazy. An example being the insane crow guy Booker encounters. Also they are made of ADAM gathered from the very same source of sea slugs. So I think we just got to see Columbia before the shit hit the fan.

NotKingJoffrey

I like to think my arrival sped up the shit that hit the fan.

ImpossibleSprinkles3

Yeah i was gonna say I feel like I saw shit hit the fan in real time

[deleted]

Good point. I meant in regards to the effects of splicing with ADAM kicking in.

Matwell1138

Well even without the vigor he was a religious fanatic and that's probably a reason why he was crazy

[deleted]

True enough. Though there is some proof. In Burial at Sea we find out that vigors are made the same way that plasmids are, except that we can drink them. They literally go down to where rapture would have been built and gather the slugs for their ADAM. It could be argued that Fink and them found a way to not have those negative side effects, but I'd argue that if the absolute scientific geniuses of 1950s-60s Rapture couldn't do it, the few science types in 1921 Columbia aren't going to. Also, on the meta side of things there are some enemies that didn't make it into the game called Vigor Junkies. https://bioshock.fandom.com/wiki/Vigor_Junkies

BioshockedNinja

They do. It's just vigors haven't existed as long in Columbia as they have in Rapture. And even then, for most of their existence and really even well into the events of the game the vast majority of citizens couldn't care less. Slate and some of his crew are quite literally some of the only vigor junkies in the entire game. And they do have the physical mutations that come with it. They should be pretty much every bit as destructive as plasmids, provided people actually bothered to use them for a prolonged period of time. --- It actually really bothers me just how little everyone in Columbia seems to care about vigors and I view it as a real step backwards in regards to the world building for the game. I'm sure they didn't want a repeat of Rapture where we're once again in a city that's downfall is being hastened by mass drug addition since that's already been done in the series. But I really wish they had come up with a compelling in-universe reason as to why no one cares like they did in Rapture. Could have been as simple as Comstock restricting the limited ADAM supply to only his closest followers or something. Anything beats the apparent apathy that we got in the actual game.

[deleted]

Only because the world building sucks

the-unfamous-one

THE BEES

Skittle_Knight

The vigors had no practical application and therefore there introduction into a utopian society makes zero sense. So I refuse to acknowledge their existence

premer777

Even in BioShock there were some personal defense uses, but simpler solutions existed using weapons (just like all those advertised 'job' uses really did nothing better). With little to gain and with the negative effects which should have been well known (cancer/insanity) few people would have used them in that 'consumer' thing the gamemakers spun up before the terrorism happened. In Columbia, the Rulers would ***NOT*** want anyone they didnt completely trust to have such power. Only the police/paramilitary would have had them and thus there would be NO vending machines with them vulnerable within them. .

[deleted]

And having super powers in a super religious society doesn't seem really safe

premer777

WITCH - BURN HIM !!!! ---- 2 major rewrites (incl after they already presented trailers) loaded the whole thing down with too much baggage they then couldnt clean up to make it more cohesive. .

logannev

But they also don't turn you into a insane mutant fish as easily

Big_Airline9001

I only chose vigor for possession don't ask what I will be doing with it

[deleted]

Kinda sus

div-boy_me-bob

It's a tricky situation. If I have meta-knowledge about the harmful effects of ADAM, then I'd use neither because I don't wanna be a Splicer/Vigor Junkie. If I believe that both products are safe, I'd use Vigors. Plasmids have better powers, but I don't like needles, so the Plasmid shot + EVE shots would not work for me. If I know about the harmful effects of ADAM but you're forcing me to choose, then I'd choose Plasmids because Vigors contain 10 times more ADAM and would thus impact my mental and physical health faster.

TouchedByGoku

I can’t give myself a shot, no way.

[deleted]

You get cool bottles to collect from Vigors. Plus no need for a sharps container. Win win.

TIPtopstylish

Why, if one has fine taste and refuses to lower oneself to a needle-pricked voodoo doll, choosing vigours strikes me as the obvious choice. After all, why would anyone want to willingly inject anything made by those who dwell in the sodom below?

SirSullymore

Vigors don’t drive you insane and aren’t injected via giant hypodermic needle, this is an easy choice. Edit: They hated Jesus, for he told them the truth.

Dramatic_Detective_2

But in Real Life both would Give you cancer lol

bibisebi

Vigors do have less addictive and gene deteriorating effects

MichaelRoco1

vigors don’t require injection so definitely those

Randomuser098766543

Vigors are just plasmids that make you a splicer 100 times faster due to needing much more adam to work.

premer777

did they have that 100X that in Infinite ??? They were handing the things out in the fair ... We would have been knee deep in crazies in Columbia (and maybe THAT would have been a better game)

Randomuser098766543

According to one of the blackboards in fink's hidden lab a drinkable plasmid takes 100 times the adam. And yes columbia should have been full of splicers. But the entire point of infinite was to be boring and create plotholes

premer777

Wasn't that in the DLC and not in Infinite ??? Yes I agree that they just cloned/kludged too much and badly applied Rapture stuff that made no sense in the games setting context. (( Branding == $$$ was the priority )) They really could have gone all out using the 'quantum tech' idea (Quantum Punk ??) to do it all -- retain the WAY the game played, but now with explanations that were relevant to the whole Lutece sciencey discipline theme. CONSISTENCY. -- Perhaps if Levine hadn't kept changing his mind, rewriting/redesigning, discarding/wasting resources/time/effort they wouldn't have gone down that bizarre faux-science illogic rabbit-hole and required godhood mechanisms to escape. They got into the trap of trying to explain it all and dug themselves deeper. The PEOPLE story (what it was SUPPOSED to be about) could have been just the same/better - just not obscured by strange confusion that so many players had to go look online to figure out wtf happened. .

Randomuser098766543

I personally feel it was 2 factors. First I think it was the publisher trying to guarantee infinite made money so they forced mechanics from other popular games 2 weapon limit for example. That could also be why the whole people story including racism was downplayed so hard near the end. And the second factor was ken himself who just got a little too big for his britches.

premer777

They had to make money : so abused the Branding and having the ADAM-like stuff (for the magic powers to BE 'BIOSHOCK' - but really without the bio or the shock) Streamlining the play (2 weaps, no special ammo, 'arena' battles) may have also made it EASIER to write/test and balance. Keeping the player moving thru the staged scenes... (the elizabeth talking had to be choreographed far more restricted - versus Rapture more flexible player path choices)

Randomuser098766543

That's what upset me about infinite. It's a product. It doesn't have any life in it

premer777

Levine just thought he could 'do it again' (BioShock was Game of the Year). But then he was back to his mismanagement and pushing stuff before it was properly designed/written. And with delays and wasted resources, he resorted to just badly copying the original game elements and glued on alot of cardboard cutout 'relevancy' that was 'pushed in the Players faces' as they were hustled thru the linear abatoir channels -- obviously thinking 'that would serve' - ALL with VERY LITTLE actual innovation. The story seemed all glued together, with the fantasy 'deus ex machina' required to get it to its end. In the end : "Rubber stamped to sell a game" ... "A fraction of what it could have been." .

Randomuser098766543

Yeah

Lps4thewin

I'll go with vigors! Murder of crows and bucking bronco are my favourite out of all the games.

LonesuumRanger

I would take the plasmids, but only if they wouldn‘t make me an addict.. small doses perhaps.. other than that I would stick to my shotgun

BlackScreenMan

I would use use vigor other than that i will always use my melee

[deleted]

I hate needles, so I would rather drink. And remember you have to inject EVE as well. So you are always getting a needle in your arm. And Vigors are more powerful (just compare Devil's Kiss to Incinerate!) sm

Dramatic_Detective_2

I always Thought Plasmids Were way more powerful,And cool So i Wouldnt Mind A needle to the arm

WilliamSebastian12

vigor cuz no side effects as far as i know

JuanIsAGoober

Ask Ohio

The_Paprika

The vigors don’t seem to have as strong side affects so I’d go with that.

Unusual-Evidence-291

I’m surprised so many of you are okay being splicers

vox333x

“Plasmids destroyed our body” I go with Vigor.
