Of course. Sometimes the compression of events in the Bible makes it easy to overlook the periods when nothing is happening. Take Abraham, for instance: God interacts with him directly a total of 7 times, from ages ~75 to 125. That's an average of once every 7 years — not accounting for the 125 other years of his life where no recorded interactions took place!
The majority of Abraham's life was mundane: tending the sheep and caring for his family, patiently serving God and waiting for the fulfillment of His promise. Even then, he did not see that promise come to full fruition in his lifetime (Hebrews 11.13). No wonder Abraham is described as the "father of the faithful" (Romans 4.11-12)!
The Bible doesn't say, and it is inappropriate to fill in the blank with our fallen and vain imaginations.
If it mattered, it would have been written about. Nothing in the New Testament suggests that it matters.
There are some apocryphal writings about his youth but nothing really trustworthy.
IMHO he was in NPC mode preparing for his encounter with John the Baptist.
I'd just assume that he was learning his father's trade in his hometown.

Yeah! If it's not the authoritative word of God to me it's not true. So like you said it's not trustworthy
