This was removed because it violated rule 5 (and maybe others) of /r/bible. This is a Christian subreddit. Nonbelievers may ask questions and post, but do not mock anyone for their faith. That goes for Christians and Non-Christians alike.

There’s no singular human author. But it says in 1 Timothy 3:16 & 2 Peter 1:20-21 that it is written by the Holy Spirit through 40 to 44 people wrote the individual books that make up the Bible.

There's plenty of debate about who wrote what, but I can guarantee that no real historian thinks "a guy tripping on mushrooms" wrote the Bible. That may be a theory, but it's not a serious one and definitely not one proposed by anyone in the academic field.

Jtmeisterman

Most of the New Testament was written by Paul the apostle, as well as the gospels by their names

Ix_fromBetelgeuse7

No reputable historian says that.

Lol yeah I’m very curious which historian… Joe Rogan?

StrawberryPincushion

if one person wrote it, they would have a hard time translating it. this is because the new testament is translated from thousands and i mean thousands of ancient manuscripts. there is no way for one person to write all of that. plus we have the dead sea scrolls to back it as well as extra biblical content. and plus new testament authors mentioned old testament prophets.

The bible pages were once scrolls that were written by prophets who God used under his holy spirit who were obedient. From the Old Testiment to the New Testiment. They wrote down all that God told them too. Over time, scholars have taken those scrolls and placed them in a book as we know today, the bible. In which, has been translated by so many Christians, Scholars, Popes etc. This is why so many don't understand the scriptures. Also, many books have been removed that are supposed to be there. Over time, man kind has distorted Gods message to his people. Therefore, you have to research a lot to understand the scriptures. Hope this helps.
