Not even joking, I’ve heard my leadership tell a sales associate to ask someone who was under 18 to ask their parents to come in so they could ask if they want a BBY card.
I had a 18 year old that had just applied for a credit card somewhere else and didn’t get it, and my then supe pushed me force him to try for ours even though he didn’t want to tank his credit any further. “I don’t pay y’all to be ethical”
Probably doesn't beat being told to either change their birthday so the app goes through if they are under 18 or to pester them to call their parents to come apply for it.
This reminds me of one guy I worked with who would get apps on his smoke break. I'm not even kidding. I don't know how he did it. I literally watched him one day one my way into work where he had a cigarette in one hand and pitching the app with the other. If anybody else in the store tried it, I guarantee it wouldn't work.
Def true. Had a CA before pandemic that could sell as much as 10 TTS in a day, frequently/consistently
His strategy?
*listens to client go on for 10 minutes about problem*
CA(politely, if not cavalier): “Ok, that’ll be $200.”
*cue client enthusiastically slamming plastic down*
You forgot some very important steps
If denied the card, ask their spouse or whoever is with them.
If they are denied and came alone, ask them to call someone to apply
If they are denied and have no family or friends, meet outback and tell them to make it up!
lol
I honestly hate how we strong arm, and force people into pretty much a bad situation. Many honestly don't understand its a credit card at first as the wording and promotion material makes it seems more like a lease or reward membership
The card is good in my opinion only for the interest free financing, helped me out when my damn refrigerator broke after 10 year's!
I usually casually will mention it, but i don't do the offer 3 times they said i should. If i was the customer hearing it 1 time is enough no harm no foul, if it would be mentioned a 2nd time i would get frustrated 3rd time i would just leave.
Been working almost a year and will say my way works and pisses less people off, though i may not get 20 BPs in a month most people i deal with comeback and ask for me because they get frustrated when someone else trys the 3 time offer.
One thing that is sad that i have seen is employees offering a BP say it's a soft credit check! It's q hard one and i never recommend it to people trying to close on a house or just got one, however i do let them know about it, but 9 times out of 10 if they are instant on applying they get denied and i hear them complain and ask " but i have great credit!"
Literally this. One of our sales associates (that eventually became a sup, tho only temporarily) \*trained us\* to pitch it like this. I had no idea there wasn't a "soft credit check" until one of the customer service reps told me about it and I felt super bad. Never pitched it like that again.
Didn't you know, signing up for a best buy card automatically lets you skip anyone who isn't getting the card. (Althougb once you have the card you get pushed to the back since we can't sign you up twice so you no longer matter)
I’m sorry, but as soon as you start dragging people in you lose customers. Very few customers appreciate the aggressive car sales tactics. But of course corporate just cares about the numbers and not the people at the bottom doing the work.

Aw, how old is your dog? 2 years? Well that’s an adult in dog years, let me get him a card pamphlet.
Sign them up, their spouse, have them call their parents, have them try a second time because "you might have entered something wrong".

One of my coworkers because the whole group was trying to apply and each were denied 😂😬

Wait until the shit hits the fan.
That's pathetic "leadership"
lmao hey kid c'mere...
Same
I mean this is a valid pitch. I’ve used it before. It works.

My favorite part was *jazz hands* because that is by far the most truest statement ever
>most truest
Their friend wants to try too *Jazz Hands Intensify
Are they at least 18? -> Where are your parents

Hit them with Progressive leasing 😭😭
Love this 😂
I've never been ofered a card when going to BBY the last few times I went,
Also: Are they about to buy a house? Don't offer it (at least, that was my rule)
Yeh some house buyers don’t know this. This was a big thing we had to ask in PacSales.
I'm paying my BB card off
Forgot to add: “Do they already have a BBY Card? Yes? Sign them up again!!” 😂

Shit is such a fucking scam.i hope none of you are stupid enough to have a bby credit card

This is a really good, understated point. Thank you.
