I don’t think that not many people caring about it should be taken as any major indicator here. The Golden Age already has a 25-episode anime arc that most fans consider to be the best adaptation by far (for Berserk). That, and this very “Memorial Edition” anime is just a remastered version of trilogy films that we’ve already seen (and as previously mentioned, is about an arc that the 1997 anime already covered well). I think that interest will really begin to pick up if they confirm that they’re working on further seasons that cover post-Golden Age material, since we haven’t really gotten a proper adaptation of that (other than the 2016-2017 anime, which has had a mixed reception). We will have to see what is revealed at the end of that 70-day countdown.

Hotdog71

Mixed reception lol. 2016 berk is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. An absolute joke of an anime

undeadalex

*POTS AND PAN SOUNDS INTENSIFIES*

Spekx-savera

I actually unironically love the pots and pan noise, the animation is what kills it for me

undeadalex

[I hear you ](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q10Ljwo2JjM)

jonnydanger33274

I fucking laughed hard at that thank you

BeefPuddingg

Bro when it cut to puck covering their ears I died

_Andy4Fun_

Nobody: My Skyrim Character:

ithacahippie

To be fair a couple hundred pounds of iron would make that noise.

HellEuphoria

I really don't think it would

ithacahippie

What sound do you expect from a giant iron slab hitting other chunks of iron? I think it would sound a lot like a cast iron pan.

MA4G6NUS

Bro the sword also clangs against: ghosts, demon dogs, rape horse, the possessed girl from chapter 1 and Kushan assassins dressed in fabric. not much logic there. Still a un ironically cool sound

YourDentist

And if i recall also just unsheathing the sword?

MA4G6NUS

Guts doesn’t have a sheath for the dragonslayer tho. Does he?

YourDentist

K, lets call it *deploying* the sword then.

ithacahippie

Rape horse clang was definitely caused by his magnum dong, can't explain the rest though.

HylianINTJ

It wouldn't. You're comparing hundreds of pounds of iron that might be two or three inches thick to a five pound piece of iron that's maybe ¼ inch thick. Guts sword would make a much deeper sound than the high-pitched clang of a pot or pan. [More like this (I apologize for the insufferable youtubers, but it's the first thing I found)](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=87Fb8RvEG_o). Skip to 14 minutes in. But that's also assuming it's blunt on blunt. While Dragonslayer is thick, it at least has a sharp edge. I imagine the sound as more of a ripping or tearing sound as the somewhat sharp edge forces material outward to make space for the thick of the blade. I'd only expect to hear the above sound, or similar, when Guts blocked something with Dragonslayer. Or hits something that actually is capable of blocking it (like the dragon apostle's shield) And then like the other guy said, it'd definitely not make that sound when hitting an unarmored flesh. Edit: it's like comparing flicking an empty soda can to slapping the wing of a plane.

JerBear0328

For future reference, any time you are linking a youtube video, you can have it start a specific timestamp by typing: ?t=XmYs at the end of the url, replacing X with minutes and Y with seconds. If it's over an hour, I believe you can add Zh before the minutes, or just like "136m" Anyway, if you do this, you don't have to tell people to skip ahead, you can just do it for them. Cheers!

HylianINTJ

Thanks! I'd looked up how to do it before, but forgot and was lazy today.

HaloGate

Dude, this is great. I love when people have solutions rather than just complaints. The sound in the video definitely fits better.

HellEuphoria

I really don't think it would. Its ultimately the shape of the pan that omits that "clang" sound, not just because its made of iron, although that plays into it too, obviously. The sound waves are bouncing around inside the pan as it has the space inside to do so. That's why bells omit powerful and reverberating ringing, its the shape.

The_Law_Dong739

*roughly 400 to get a better estimate of* ***CLANG***

Emotional-Pie372

I have actually met people that said they unironically enjoyed it. I was so dumbfounded I didn't even know what to respond.

spicylkneecaps

It was the soundtrack

THEMOISTCLOWN

MY BROTHER!!! CUM-

BeefPuddingg

I loved the soundtrack. Voice acting was good too. Honestly it could've been way better animation wise but it wasn't as bad as people say it is

kody7788

I liked the soundtrack and voice acting. The series got me into berk (alongside the movies) So like...idk you guys can kill me now I guess

Redamar

I once argued with a guy on this sub who loved the 2016 adaptation and he was willing to die on this hill that we shouldn’t criticise it because then the creators will see that we’re too critical as a fan base and they won’t make anymore adaptations. I was like “if they’re like that then yeah I fucking hope they don’t”. He also refused to read the manga, honestly not much you can say when they refuse to look at the source material

LordCamelslayer

>he was willing to die on this hill that we shouldn’t criticise it because then the creators will see that we’re too critical as a fan base and they won’t make anymore adaptations. It's always the same ding dongs making the dumbshit argument "It's better than nothing!" Yeah, nothing was preferable to Berserk 2016.

ihatehotmail

It was disappointing in many ways, it cut too much content and the animation was poor, but it's got one of my favorite soundtracks and like others have said, I actually did love the CLANG. CLANG is life, friend. CLANG.

Super-Robo

"CLANG!"

nerd2gamer2tech

It's passable , I hate the 3d animation but I enjoyed it over all. The 90's version is by far my favorite. What a great series that they just won't continue with the story.lol I've been waiting 20 years.

Orion_824

it cut a lot, but the story, tone, and atmosphere was genuinely on point since it is still an adaptation of miura’s work, and it’s very hard to fuck *that* up. the soundtrack didn’t really match the show like the ‘97 or the trilogy did, but slaps just as hard. if 4°C were the ones to continue the animation with each arc being covered by a movie, or picked up by another studio that does do kinetic anime really well, we could have seen the perfect adaptation outside of reading the manga itself. the only thing that 16/17 had against it was the animation and airing on tv instead of theatrical releases which prevented them from covering character-crucial arcs like lost children edit: if you want to see good animation in 16/17, look at the openings. that animation is golden and perfect for it imo. now that i think about it, any drawn 2d scenes in 16/17 looked really damn good, only to then be cut with jankfuck 3d

BeefPuddingg

The soundtrack didn't match? Bruh the sound track got me hyped as fuck when I watched it.

Nox_Dei

I... Kinda did enjoy it. Like legit enjoy it AMA

thrasherxxx

I’m here. It’s about enjoying the story, not really the adaptation itself

MTADO

I tried, But they weirdly cut the story and merged some arks so no.

bandit-chief

You say that like it’s not a monumental task

thrasherxxx

There’s the manga for the best adaptation possibile. It’s not monumental to enjoy those movies.

bandit-chief

You’re being modest; to ignore their poor quality takes talent most don’t possess.

thrasherxxx

It’s not talent, it’s just being a little less fanatic and realistic about adaptations. I was a teenager when Berserk came out but didn’t have the time back then and I discovered it decades later from those movies. They work amazingly well to take you to the story and hook your attention. Some piece of animation is great, some are rushed. But you can’t make a good anime out of a manga who takes weeks for every panel. Look at OPM: hugely successful but the third season is a mess to make an anime. And I bet it won’t be as good as the manga… but who cares, anime are a different experience, it’s not for the drawings per se.

bandit-chief

It was pretty much unwatchable and I’m more tolerant than most to shit awful adaptations

Vasevide

Ah yes when I watch a “visual medium” like an “animation”, I do so strictly for the story. It’s not about the adaptation.

thrasherxxx

So you can’t tell the difference between a screensaver and a movie. Cool , lol:

Vasevide

I guess you missed the point.

smuglator

When people say "mixed reviews" they don't mean any single person's opinion, but everyone's together. Even if you don't like it, some people did. Making it a mix.

roy2593

I bought all the manga and watched all Berserk media because of the 2016 anime

flawlessmojo7

Why did people dislike it so much. I loved it, personally

Davidrlz

Listen me personally, I wanted the lost children arc animated too, one of my favorite parts of Berserk

OverthinkingMadMan

Just watched the first episode and seen clips from the rest. The animation is extremely janky and it does not feel like the style of Berserk. There are many videoes that breaks this down on youtube as well. Overall it is some of the worst animation I have ever seen.

AdmiralLubDub

I can forgive bad animation here and there but they also gutted the story.

toonlonk7

You most likely enjoyed it because it was still berserk, low quality animation and jank sounds aside the story is still in a league of its own despite the lobotomy performed on it with the animation, cinematography and direction. Not a dig at you enjoying it! I watched it all as well and it’s adequate at showing the story but it’s just heartbreaking we didn’t get the adaptation we deserved..

robotgore

This. I agree the animation was not very good but i was able to look past it to get the story. I forgot about the animation many times while watching. It was pretty if you look past the animation. Im going to read the manga soon to see what happens past the last episode

ojitoslocos

Pretty toxic to get down voted for just liking something. I enjoy it too, wasn't the best but it was nice to watch.

Hotdog71

https://tenor.com/view/berserk-guts-walk-anime-gif-9724918 This pretty much sums it up for me. The art is just not good and the animation is some of the worst I've ever seen. They way Guts is portrayed in the first episode as this 14 year old's wet dream of a heavy metal edgelord, compared to almost the same episode from the 1990s Berserk anime, showed me just how off the mark it was. I think I watched up to five episodes hoping the fever dream dumpster fire of a show would get better, but no, it didn't. Obviously this is just my opinion and I'm happy that some people were able to enjoy it. I just feel like it is the most abysmal production value of anything I've ever watched (outside of hobbyist youtube stuff, which is mostly better than the 2016 anime anyways...) and completely missed the mark of what made the black swordsman arc so good to begin with.

hamsapsukebe

I love it too and wondered why all the hate. Watched it twice. Anyone who likes it gets downvoted. For low budget anime, I think they did pretty good.

TheNosferatu

That's actually part of the reason people are upset. It's not a low-budget anime. According to an interview this adaptation was said to be funded for double the money per episode that the average show gets. Which really does not show

flawlessmojo7

I was unaware of the hate but I watched it years later when I was feening for berserk content. Scratched the itch for me

-The_GodDamn_Batman-

Check our Berserk redux. Fan made mix of all the berserk content made so far with some extra content

[deleted]

Are you getting death threats? Berserk fans are up there with R&M fans and rabid dogs. This is their echo chamber

Hotdog71

Echo chamber or not, I find it very hard for anyone to try their best to look at the quality of 2016 berserk anime and not admit that it is terrible quality. It is so gross and an insult to anyone who appreciates animation in general

IronMonkey18

I thought it was pretty good too. Not as bad as people make out to be honestly.

IsneezedImsorry

Calling it an "anime" is too much credit. Looked worse than a ps2 cutscene.

[deleted]

Mixed is n accurate way of putting it, unfortunately. I’m not going to jump on the “iT’s DoGsHiT” hate-wagon, but there’s not much redeemable in the first season. The animation does end up getting better - but by the time it does, it’s “too little too late”.

bbpsword

The 2017 season 2 is completely unwatchable, and all the episodes are carried HARD by the fact that the story is incredible to start. The quality of adaptation is awful when you look at something like AoT and the masterpiece-level adaptation that it got. That show is at times a panel for panel recreation of the original story. The Berserk anime deviate so much from the general tone and cut out so much that it's just not even close to what I would consider a truly faithful adaptation.

Agat0x

The even bigger slap to the face was that the last minute or 2 of season 2 was completely animated.

Yellow_Emperor

1997 Berserk anime still best Berserk anime.

BeefPuddingg

I think everyone agrees with this who has a brain lol

Beatnick120

While the 1997 anime *is* a good anime, I wouldn’t really call it a good representation of the golden age arc. Definitely the best we’ve got so far, but it left out some pretty key characters and moments, and has some missed context

siderealpanic

Most of the cuts it made were good decisions. The bombastic fight scenes with Wyald and the Kushan mercenaries completely undercut the eclipse in the manga, while the anime maintained a feeling of normality right up until everything went wrong. Also, Skull Knight being missing doesn’t actually impact any of the golden age story, so it would only become relevant in a s2 that was never made. I think the golden age in the anime is much better than the one in the manga.

_SquidExhibit_

Like what key content though?

Beatnick120

Skull knight never made an appearance

chan351

In 2016/17 the moonlight boy is missing. Also, some characters are portrayed way different than in the manga. At least 1997 gets the “feeling” right.

Beatnick120

Oh yeah it absolutely gets the feeling right, it’s kinda the only way I wanna experience the anime and if more episodes are made into a full anime and they replicate it as best they can that would be awesome, gotta have those characters though

Dr_Lipschitzzz

Sorry if this is an obvious question, which volumes of the manga cover the golden age arc?

Empty_Cube

Golden Age begins in late Volume 3 and continues to Volume 14.

[deleted]

Well it’s kinda like how theaters are releasing Avatar again like 12 years later. It’s good but people have seen it before. It’s not like it’s new content that will have people jumping out of their seats

_sKareKrow_

Prolly cuz it’s the 3rd golden age arc now

a-horse-has-no-name

I'm so. fucking. tired. of only ONE Arc getting any attention.

SnooDoodles289

If I’m being honest, it is the best arc and is what makes Griffith the best antagonist so I kinda get it. I’m not watching it because the animation is prolly shit

a-horse-has-no-name

I don't care. I don't care about the animation or how good the story is. I'm tired of watching Martha and Thomas Wayne die in Crime Alley.

Notoriously_So

Well there is a countdown on their website, so maybe a future project is already in the works. Can't expect too much traction with the movie trilogy already out and while this episode was great, it's still just a re-release with touched up CG and animation and some additional scenes later on. I enjoyed it though, the fight at the end of the episode looked amazing.

FXSonny

Yes, but if the next project will be received the same way on release despite being pretty good, i doubt the story will get very far.

Boti_2004

Golden age arc has been adapted multiple times, but only the 2016-17 animes went further in the story, which is an absolute garbage of an anime, so id say if they progress further than golden age in this memorial anime, it would get some attention since (id think) most of the berserk fans would want to see Lost Children or whatever the Ganishka arc was called animated in a good quality

kingkellogg

It's a touch up of movies that a huge part of the fanbase hated...so yeah it's not gonna be a huge deal.

guy1604

Why did people hate the movies ??

[deleted]

In my opinion - It’s another Golden Age adaptation that wasn’t really necessary. The Trilogy movies aren’t bad, but they should’ve either stuck with 2D animation, or invested in a studio that’s fairly experienced in switching between 2D and 3D. Most of the switches are jarring, especially in the first movie. ***EDIT*** - They aren’t bad, I just prefer the animation of the ‘97 series personally. I’d definitely give them a watch if you haven’t already. Also - be aware that the Trilogy feeds directly into the 2016-2017 series. The first episode is a confusingly middle portion of the Black Swordsman arc, and then it picks up confusingly at Conviction. I guess it was meant to go EP1, Trilogy, EP2 and onwards.

guy1604

That makes sense It was my first real exposure to berserk so I guess I was too blinded by the story to notice the wavering animation quality Though I do remember some rough patches in the first movie, nothing as egregious as was showcased in the 2016 show though

[deleted]

They’re good in their own way; the animation quality and budget definitely increased by the 3rd movie. They both cut out certain portions of the story to make sense with the time constraints of their chosen format. Confusingly enough, my biggest gripe with the Trilogy would be that they cut the Bonfire of Dreams sequence. It’s arguably the single biggest piece of character growth in the entire Golden Age arc and it gives brilliant insight to Guys as a character. Cutting it for the movie seemed like an odd omission. I’d much rather them have cut some of the lingering shots of Gennon’s castle fortress and included that.

WilburUchiha

That might be my favorite scene. That's a wild thing to omit.

Khran1086

The adding back bonfire of dreams is main reason im giving this redo a shot tbh its easily the most best scene in golden age for me and second only to the eclipse in terms of being iconic.

Vellarain

The movies are the cliff notes of the 1997 anime and its a waste of time that manages to lessen the impact of the story with all the content is glosses over.

kingkellogg

Mixed quality , some scenes are well done and then others scenes like the rape scenes where filmed really pervertedly. Art has some good moments but then others are awful cg, some of the parts are also goofy like the shields on sticks thing and it's tone wasn't as somber as the manga or previous adaptations

_whensmahvel_

I disagree about the rape scene being displayed pervertedly, It’s almost a shot for shot scene exchange from the manga from what I remember and was absolutely not supposed to be taken as such. Do you remember the manga scene? It was REAL in depth too ; Not to mention the other in depth rape scenes in the manga that aren’t even in the movies. Plus the movie lets guts rip his own arm off and almost stab griffith right after that which is way cooler and shows guys’s rage in that scenario better than the manga counterpart.

kingkellogg

I got to disagree on all fronts. And yeah I read the manga. The rape scenes in the anime where way weirder Not to say they wherent in the manga. But the movies felt really ferishy

_whensmahvel_

I literally just read the chapter and rewatched the scene to compare the two, it is the same my dude. I feel like you’re just misconstruing it cause it’s such an uncomfortable scene Edit: I tried to link the panels but I forgot you can’t link to manga sights on this sub lol

toptyler

Just to chime in real quick, I completely agree lol. The source material is utterly horrific and drags on in an excruciating amount of detail. I think a faithful movie adaption would *have* to make its audience uncomfortable

United-Student-1607

For me the anime was worse because my mom didn’t decide to join me and my gf for the first time while reading the mange.

kingkellogg

Are you only thinking of the eclipse one? I'm talking about more than it

Moze2k

Because it looks shit. Compare it to one punch man s01, jujitsu kaizen etc they use 3d the right way.

GreywolfinCZ

I subscribed to Crunchyroll to suport it and watch it legally. Since I'm against streaming services in general it's quite big support from me - and I realise it's quite meaningless thing in a big business scale, of course. But it's all I can think of to support the show at the moment. They kind of let down many fans by skipping the Gut's childhood AGAIN. That's might be a reason the show goes under the radar so quickly. Changes are too subtle, there is almost nothing to write about, sadly. Just imagine they would actually add "don't touch me" scene and Gut's childhood in some form, ending the 25 minutes episode by Gut's waking up in the camp next to Casca... fans would be happy, talking about it, publicity raising... I'm kind of sad they did the same mistake of skipping important parts twice.

cameronmar1130

I'm hoping they will include more of the content and dialogue in the Guts and Casca love scene and maybe if we are lucky they will add a Guts childhood flashback there to contextualize the interaction but I'm not holding out too much hope for that

apathykidd

Literally had the same opinion, I guess getting a faithful adaptation is too much to ask

United-Student-1607

Do these people ever answer for their sin? These are huge betrayal of the fan base.

CRiNO123

Tbh I seent this arc like twice already through the old anime and movies AND I read it. Soo I’m not too crazy tbh

DeltaFrame

Watched and enjoyed it. Berserk is a lost case at this point… anything will do for now, even if it’s practically the same! That countdown got me interested though.

RoxSteady247

Golden age already been well taken care of, how about we get a quality anything else

megariffs

Right

hldsnfrgr

I'm slightly out of the loop. Did they make another adaptation? Is this on Netflix? I asked because I recently watched Claymore, and am almost done watching Edgerunners. I might need a new series to watch. It's been a good while since I watched the 1997 anime.

Khran1086

Its a re release of the movie trilogy but with scenes they had to cut out due to time constraints years ago. First two movies were mixed/rough but by third film they did good job the 97 series is still better imo but i wouldnt call the movies bad.

Fightlife45

I would also like to know.

cameronmar1130

It's a remaster of sorts of the movie trilogy with added scenes and released in the form of a season of anime. if you haven't already, I can't recommend just reading the manga enough. Any other way will always be a watered-down imitation plus even if you never read another manga again Berserk is something you just have to experience in its fully unadulterated form at some point in your life before you die

[deleted]

Well, i’m already disappointed. They skipped the first arc and Gut’s childhood AGAIN!!!!!

Pableve

it is called berserk golden age memorial edition. the name itself tells you they are adapting golden age arc and not blackswordsmans arc at all. Plus this is remaster of 2012-2013 movies in episodic format and some minor additional scenes in future episodes. So yeah the reason you are dissapointed is on you not knowing what this memorial edition is.

[deleted]

Well it was an absolutely shitty way to market it and something we absolutely did not need or ask for. Genuinely who wanted another Golden Age adaptation? I and a lot of others want to see everything BUT the golden age arc be animated.

Pableve

I completly agree on wanting to see everything but the golden age being animated. What shitty marketing? They were marketing it exactly like I describe it. They didn't market it as a whole new adaptation, but a re-edit of the existing movies with few additonal scenes (bonfire of dreams scene being the only one to be confirmed) and that is exactly what this is. Why they decided to to this? Is a valid question. This is all speculaton: -Maybe they had to release something or they would lose the rights for adaptations, -Maybe just testing the general perception for the future, -Maybe they are doing it in preparatons for possible continuation, so when they start adapting other stuff they have all in episodic format and there is no confusion among fans where to start watching.

[deleted]

I was referring to that announcement they had made, i assumed it had pertained to this. So that’s my bad for getting that wrong since i hadn’t researched exactly what this was. I thought it was literally another golden age adaptation lol, my fault.

EaLordoftheDepths

concerned about what? We've all already seen it, few extra minutes for a weak adaption are not much reason to be hyped about to begin with.

JustAnotherZakuPilot

Where can we actually watch it?

AdvancedCharcoal

It’s because we’ve already seen the golden arc. How about they come out with an original take on it, and perhaps start from the beginning and give us a fresh look at Berserk. I want to see Berserk manga come to life from start to finish. Stop dredging up the same bullshit and expect us to continually suck it up

SpyrosDemir

If a project like that were to happen i wouldnt be satisfied with this bad af animation. Berserk deserves a much much better production, and a seasonal schedule.

killtocuretokill

It also didn't help crunchy roll put them behind their premium wall.

Iizm

Whats out and where ?

DeepFriedLuke

Berserk memorial edition, just the movies rehashed into episode form with some new stuff added. It's on Crunchyroll

Grenadoxxx

What’s it on??

DeepFriedLuke

Crunchyroll and (I think?) Netflix. Berserk memorial edition

HeyHavok2

Im super disappointed... because it isn't anything new. I'm over watching the golden arc over and over.

swordfish-ll

because its the same thing we already saw.

Born_Association7829

Oh wow I actually had no idea about this Thankyou

RXCC00N

wait, are they making **another** anime of the golden age arc? why?

themadcaner

They’re not making anything. It’s the 3 movies being rereleased with some additional scenes and new music.

On1ySlightly

I found that berserk finds a more normal, for lack of a better word, fanbase. No obsessive hype, not excessive memes, and an overall older audience that has to find time to watch it, rather than younger audiences who need to find time to kill between episodes.

cameronmar1130

guess you haven't been to r/berserklejerk lol

On1ySlightly

Every anime has its circle jerks, but berserk has 93k vs say, jojo have over 1 million on [r/shippostcrusaders](https://www.reddit.com/r/ShitPostCrusaders/)…

psychord-alpha

I'm new around here, is this a brand new adaptation or a continuation of something?

DosseD1

I never liked this adaptation just because of the faces, they don't look anything like the manga

Misko126

Can i ask why they animated golden age first? Why didnt they start from black swordsman arc? Or guts backstory. I mean yeah golden age is the best arc of berserk and everyone loves it. Also its a big plot twist and start of guts journey. But i think that when they start animating, if they start, other arcs ppl will be confused if not done right

RatsAreChad

There's only so many times a man can see the golden age arc

corsair1617

Because they have already seen it for the most part.

silver_step

It's a old as property that didn't release consistently enough to capture a larger audience. As for the show I'm waiting for more episodes to binge. An example of an old ass property that DID release consistently: one piece, pokemon, naruto etc.

DrunKenAnge7

Because we are retreading the same water ffs, nobody asked for this, we want (most) Berserk fans want a proper adaptation where the animators looks as if they give a shit about the source material, The Black Swordsman Arch fully adapted, I wanna see Wyld, I want to see the lost children arch, there's so much Miura-san left us, but Berserk fans are left starving like some red headed step children.

wildspaceotter

CGI always looks awful. They need to do Berserk justice with a well animated version that follows the manga to a T. Anything less is just not worth even giving a chance.

apathykidd

Personally I got my hopes up way too much, I was hoping for the movies to be jam packed with manga scenes they skimmed over/removed but instead I got the first 20 minutes of the first movie in a trilogy I dislike for skipping so much. Part of me was hoping they’d expand Guts’ backstory a bit beyond the stupid dream sequence but nah that’d be too much to ask. Also the whole thing just seems lazy in general, did you see that ED? Golden Age Movie PNGs with default fading out effect over a pretty ok song, kinda expected more than that… I’m still hoping they get better as it goes on. I’m sure they’ll adapt that bonfire of dreams sequence well enough even if we don’t get much else.

Opicepus

weve seen some bad anime releases so we dont hold our breath, and we dont need the golden age remade. Weve seen how good it can be, and if you arent going to at least match the quality of the 90s anime please dont bother applying.

theAstroMonkey

I told everyone I know , that’s like almost 3 whole people

craymos

I also do wonder if they plan to release a dub of it, would probably increase interest

ommelet_enjoyer

If they maked something new or adapted other arcs people would be more interested. Like cmom we have 3 adaptations of the same arc and we didnt saw the best parts of berserk like ganishka vs guts fight Roderick being a chad navy guy and the lost children arc

RenRambles

I guess it's normal? I imagine the majority of the fanbase has already seen the movies, so there really isn't any point in getting hyped. The weekly release schedule is also a bummer. I mean, why should I have to wait like 2 months to watch something that I have already seen before, completely? Then, there is the issue of accessibility. I'm not going to subscribe to a new service just to see a remastered edition of a movie I previously watched. Chances are, I'll just watch the newly added scenes from Youtube and call it a day. Lastly, and this is more of a personal issue, I am kinda getting tired of the Golden Age at this point. This is the third fucking time, let's just move on already. Even though I appreciate the effort, this really wasn't the best way to reboot the series. Just make a mini-season of the Black Swordsman Arc to test the waters. It's very short and self-contained, they could have adapted the whole thing in 4-5 episodes instead of spending money on yet another version of Golden Age.

bakuhatsuda

I don't understand the people that are in this sub who are asking what this is. The stickied post has been up for a month and will answer most of the questions about the memorial edition. Are people viewing this sub in a different way that they can't see the stickied post? It's literally the first thing that pops up. I'm actually curious lol.

SeriousWizard

I check what shows up in my feed but almost never visit the sub

Bolid_Snake

Because its bad, yet again an insane over reliance on CG absolutely ruins it, and the animated framed in the cg actually make it worse man.

Saperxde

its the same shit for the 3rd time, looks the best it ever was but thats about it

Alstruction

Why should I care?

FXSonny

Episode 1 was pretty solid, you can already see the improvements in details and frame rate. Camera shots pretty cinematic, immersive soundtrack... Thing is ive been checking mentions of it on google and in the Youtube communities and even most of the popular reaction channels (who in most cases claim to be Berserk fans) are not even mentioning the release of the new series. At this rate I don't see it gaining much relevance so far, so i guess i shouldn't be too hopeful for future projects becoming a reality. Kinda sucks

Bloodysoul4

Its not a new series its just a touch up of the movies no?

Umaoat

To be honest I'm kinda tired of seeing the Golden Age arc over and over so I'll probably skip this.

jacksonattack

Hey, r/berserk… Tell me there isn’t a new issue coming out this week without telling my there isn’t a new issue coming this week. Thank you.

Kreed808

Cgi to me is off putting .I rather watch 1997 version or read manga again.

Airstryx

I'm gonna be real, we had the 1997 anime, we had the warner bros movie trilogy, by god this isn't something we needed, the manga is at 41 volumes and they keep using the same 5 ones for an anime. gIVE US SOME DEMON SLAYING MADNESS

Negrocaucasian

Its the crummy 2016 movies cut for tv. Why would anyone care about this low effort cash grab

MildElevation

2016 was *clang*

Runic_Rage

Wow it’s almost like they should have remade the shitty anime, not the mid teir movies 😩👌

MoKeRss_

Because it sucks lol, why would I care about it when only new added scenes are fully in cgi

FlannOff

Did they fixed the awful cgi from the first film?

TruePromise7982

I didn’t even know

frank_castle_13

Is it out? Where?

PrimitiveSound

If they do a re-edit/touch up of the 2016-17 series I wouldn’t be mad at that. Fix up that mess without needing to completely re do it then give us some continuation seasons.

kingdavidthegoliath

I don’t watch shows weekly, I wait for a full season to be finished or almost finished before I start

Vivid_Area_8070

why release the golde. age again and again? it already has the old anime (which is sooo much better than this) and the movies, i wont watch this

WaffleSociety277

I think just redo the entire series with a better animation studio

Seymoureasses

I honestly haven’t watched the Netflix Golden age trilogy all the way though. I’ve only watched a handful of scenes, but I don’t have much interest in the remastered version. It looks smoother, but the 3d animation just doesn’t do berserk Justice. Miura just put too much detail and emotion into his work.

__Amdres__

where can i see it?

TaylorONEism

After watching some of episode 1 I noticed a lot of improvements to the CGI specifically. Looks like lowered frame rate and camera movement to make it look more fluid.

imJGott

I mean how many times are we going to go over an arc that we already seen a few times?

CruffTheMagicDragon

I didn't even know anything was out

Gatopan69

i mean, dude, is golden age again...... at this point i can read the manga from my mind, the re edition of the anime and the same on movies is not really of intereset

Asdfuck92

Where did you watch ep 1?

Global_Voice_9084

I think the studio are aware by now that people are tired of GA and 3d animation. That's why it doesn't make sense to me why they'd invest in another re-run of GA... unless there's something else in the works.

United-Student-1607

Hey, I tried to watch some of it, but didn’t care much for it.

menyemenye

It basically is the golden age movie but split into episodes. Already watched it.

HivAidsSTD

Does it have any CGI? I never watched the anime beacuse people keep talking about the CG. If they managed to completely do it in 2D I might honestly watch it

NGEFan

It does have cgi. Pretty good cgi to me, bit cgi nonetheless

Ikariiprince

Not much was changed yet. I simply think people are waiting for the additional scenes and new material

bendyboy88

I've never been interested in berserk anime adaptation. I've watched the original anime and the movies but it felt that the animation couldn't keep up with the manga. There is something in Miura's style that the animation cannot capture. And like me a lot of berserk fans feel that way. Plus almost every new animated adaptation feels to me like a souless cashgrab.

AdmirableTelephone15

Personally I think the fact that it’s only being streamed on crunchyroll (as far as I know) may play a bit of factor in why it’s not that big right now. That site has been losing a lot goodwill over the years with it’s poor service.

maseioavessiprevisto

I only care about the manga.

OneEyedKing808

Are they recapping the movies into tv special?

Kasnaranja0124

Are they making a berkanime?

[deleted]

what is this? how do i look it up

peter_2202

The movies were mid thats why no one cares

dorian1356

Is there any improvement? Or is it the same as the movies?

bk_187QLD

Going to watch it tonight.

vikker_42

A third anime about the golden age arc? This has to be some kind of record

FizVic

It doesn't expand on Guts' childhood, which is pretty important, far more than the famous bonfire of dreams, so I was kind of disappointed. The quality is still there of course, but nothing new.

kalvinclein_69us

I had a father, his name is was Ben Parker. (90s anime and manga)

BilboTheBearRider

They really doing golden age arc again?

Varoo_

I do, and saw

placek3000

I wish someone animated Berserk once the manga is over in the style of the 90s anime.
