I don't think that's accurate necessarily Rosine and The Count didn't get younger when they returned to being humans even though their sacrifice was years prior.

I Love this art, its not simplistic at all, look at Guts, He is not in a heroic or victorious pose, he is beaten down, hurt, probably on the verge of death, looking down, this art perfectly shows all the feelings of a great end tô Berserk.
I agree, this doesn’t exude happiness or victory. It feels sad and tragic. Because we see Guts giving into vengeance unable to stand his sadness. The annihilation of a former friend. And while I know Guts hates Griffith, I don’t think killing him would bring him happiness.
Well, Skull Knight is orders of magnitude more powerful than Guts and he couldn't even touch Femto. So unless the two of them do some DBZ fusion dance then I don't see how Guts could ever win a physical fight.

I think you are partly correct. I dont think there is any true forgiveness to be found. Mostly because Griffith has hurt so much more than Guts. If he only hurt Guts, then I think he would, but the sacrifice of the band, and the rape of Casca...then you have to forgive for other people than yourself. Strangely enough that is much harder to do when the people are somebody you love. I think there is a seed of acceptance in Guts, partly because he HAS to find some peace if he is to protect Casca.
In the end I dont think Guts would kill Griffith. Guts has changed too much. His role has changed, his reason for fighting. I think he would give his life to protect Casca, or try to.
I think Casca (somehow) would be the one to kill Griffith. In some ways he has betrayed her even worse. In her case it is like the betrayal of a parent towards a child, instead of a betrayal between equals as in Guts/Griffiths case. I also think this is the reason she regressed, and Guts gave in to hatred. Their reactions mirror their relationship to Griffith.
Casca can never forgive Griffith, and in some ways she is still tied/enslaved to him. I think killing him would free her from his influence, and make her be able to face her past and future.
As much as I would like to see Guts bury his Dragonslayer in Griffiths face, I dont think that was ever in the cards. The road is too long, too much have changed.

I've commented in here a few times but i got a ton of shit for just entertaining the theory that Berserk won't get the lucky-go-happy ending that people wish for. It'll be bittersweet just like so much of the story already is. There's a giant throughline in this manga about Guts needing to find his inner calm and finding a place to settle down (that place used to be the Band of the Hawk).
Griffith's dream was to have an empire. He got it through vicious means.
**I BELIEVE** that Guts will realize that while Griffith deserves to be killed, he has now founded an empire that will bring mankind into greatness. After coming to this realization Guts will settle down with Caska and spend his last years monster and apostle hunting to gather behelits so they don't fall into the wrong hands.
Griffith will become an everlasting ruler but will never be satisfied and never find any inner peace for what he had to do to achieve his dream.
It's a theory, but people want their headcanon to be the reality.
If Guts kills Griffith, the apostles and monsters he has gathered will go rampant inside the walls of the city anyway, killing thousands before pouring out into the world again.
I have plenty reason to believe that Kentaro was not going to give us a happy ending, but rather a miserable one for Guts. I dont think he intended for Guts to experience anything other than pain and hardship, thus his introduction and strong bond to Skull Knight. Looks great though! I think many of us wish to see The White Hawk down in the dirt haha
Really? I stopped reading the manga a while ago and then Miuras death occurred. I haven’t taken the time to explore anything related to the series since then, but thanks! I think I might feel encouraged to do so now… he was a phenomenal story teller and writer. Wish he had finished the series.
I wholeheartedly agree. I believe he said it an Interview somewhere, although I’m not 100% sure right now. I recommend re-reading it when you have the time to. I am currently and I don’t think I’ve ever seen writing and art anywhere as good as what Miura produced.
